Pizza Tascio in 39th street is going right into my favorite Pizza restaurant collections. Big NY pizza fan in general. I've loved Providence in Grandview & North east pizza in Pendleton Heights. Pizza Tascio is right there with these two places. We ordered 18" Margherita/Sausage peppers & onion pizza. It took about 15 minutes to get our pizza. Totally loved both options. Very good "NYC style" pizza. Crust was foldable and both sauce and cheese were so very close to NYC. Best NYC pizza I've had in KC so far.

Too many issues with consistency. It's a real shame because they can only occasion turn out an incredible pizza; however, my last 3 visits have been very disappointing. This is not longer my KC pizza spot. read more

This little place has really solid pizza! My fav that I have tried (so far) is the spicy pepperoni with hot honey & jalapeños. Crust is perfect and pizza is very flavorful! An angel in a pizza apron served me today. :) My dad is in the hospital at KU Med, so I went on a stroll to clear my head and get some fresh air... The wonderful smell of pizza lured me in, and the young man that served me was so kind. He asked me how my day was, and after saying it was "good," I admitted that it could be better and that my dad was in the hospital. However, I shared with him that finding this pizza joint on a down day is the best medicine for me! He told me that my day would get better, and that he was sure of it... That's when he shared that my meal was "on him." I was floored, and humbled, and grateful to this man and his servant heart. I promised him I would "pass it on." Tascio is leagues above standard pizza chains with the bonus option of having slices, which allows you to try multiple toppings without having to buy whole pies. It may not be 100% as good as the best slice shops in the northeast but it gets pretty close, and I believe it should be an essential spot for anyone doing a pizza tour of Kansas City. We decided to try this because we had a coupon and hadn't been before. It's pretty much a one man operation, but he seemed to be handling people as they drifted in and everyone was taken care of. Our mistake was in not looking at the menu before we got there. They only have one size pizza or you can buy individual slices. Our $5 coupon didn't go far for the price of the pizza - when it still cost $40 for pizza and one beer. They do have a combo meal for 2 slices (of whatever he already has made) and a beverage for $10. That probably would have been a smarter move for us than the whole pizza. We decided on the Margarita pizza and absolutely loved it. It definitely reminded me of good New York style pizza with large sizes, thin crust and wide foldable pieces. It was cooked really well and one pizza was the perfect amount for four of us. We also decided to get some of the cheesy breadsticks which the cashier was nice enough to give is for free since it was our first time trying them out. They were pretty good but had basically the same crust as the pizza. PersonallyI wouldn't pay for them. Some variety would've been nice but overall it was a great experience. They provide excellent large pizzas for takeout or delivery, including many options of toppings and preparations. But as a restaurant at which to dine, there are very few options. When I was there, you could order slices from four large pizzas on display. They didn't even have a veggie pizza. The only pizza without meat was a plain cheese pizza. They did not have any menu or sides: no salads, so pasta, no vegetables. I did enjoy my slices of cheese pizza, both the white one and the one with tomato sauce. When I was there, the one unisex bathroom had no operational lighting in the room. I had to use my cell phone for light in that room. I was told the problem was not bulbs, but a short circuit, which had not yet been repaired, so there was no electrical service to the bathroom at all, but there was to the dining room and kitchen. They have a few bottles of wine, but they are surprisingly expensive upscale wines for such a downscale dining room. So I would give this restaurant two thumbs up for takeout or delivery of whole large pizzas, made the way you want, but two thumbs down for dine in. read more

They sell slices. And they heat those slices up in the very hot oven. They are decent size but could be bigger. Two slices and a drink for $10. That's not bad for 2025. It's not the $1 slices I grew up with in NY but they tasted great. I have been back twice in the same week as my first visit. I will be back and with we had one of these a little further south in Carthage but Carthage doesn't deserve something like this. read more

Great NYC style pizza in KC. I did an online order and it was ready by the estimated time it gave online. They didn't have different size options, it was only 18 inches. Toppings are limited but enough for a variety. The slices weren't cut very evenly but each slice has a good amount of toppings on them. This place is a little on the pricier side, but I think it is worth it. Check out their Facebook page for coupons!! I saved 20% on my order. Not sure I would ever dine in here. Didn't see a "dine in" menu other than getting pizza by the slice. Pizza is greasy like Costco, but is still tasty. I loved the flavor of the crust. As far as the style of pizza, it is exactly what I expected; big, bubbly, well done crust. Large chewy slices with just enough cheese. BUT, from the limited menu, I ordered the 18 inch pepperoni pizza, with added onion, and spicy honey for extra charges. After delivery, taxes, tip, it was $55. No honey. No spicy. No onions. Just a large, kinda average pepperoni pizza is what i got. kind I am embarrassed for what I spent versus what I could've gotten for 15 or $20 less from multiple other local businesses. We got a pepperoni pizza (which I would rate as average at best) and an order of cheese sticks (I thought they were better than the pizza, but also average).
