    Fried green tomatoes special

Great little diner in Woodbury. Had the fried green tomatoes special and my husband enjoyed the egg sausage cheese biscuit! Fantastic! Donuts are fresh and tasty and took a dessert on my way out to enjoy later. Service was great and friendly. Will be here again!

By far one of the BEST diners I've gone to! The eggs were so fluffy and cheese was actually mixed in, not just laid on top, and the food was so fresh! The donuts were good, but the cookies were to die for!!

Fried green tomatoes with fresh spinach and eggs over medium!!!! YUM!

We had the best breakfast/lunch! AMAZING fried green tomatoes with fresh spinach and eggs. Also delish waffle and turkey club! Wish we lived closer! Even have homemade pies!!! Was soooo good! Worth the stop!

Have heard about this place for years but never been in. We shared the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes. They were delicious. Our waitress suggested them and since we were already eating them it was perfect. Perfect combo of lemon and blueberry to make it refreshing and delicious. We also shared the vegetable sandwich. Simple combo of vegetables on a brioche bun. Simple ingredients doesn't mean simple flavor. We loved it. The fruit was so fresh I was surprised. The diner vibe made it such a chill place. Perfect stop after adventuring in the area.

Pretty standard diner with both booth and counter seating The place is known for their donuts, and when you first walk in you walk past their shelf of baked goods that are up for purchase. Although the place is known for their donuts, they have a large menu with all of the basic American breakfast and lunch options. I got a coffee, and a basic breakfast (eggs, bacon, & toast) and I was very impressed with their quality. I also tried a donut and it was good, but I didn't think it was anything spectacular The waitress was also very friendly and the food came out very quickly Bring your receipt up to the counter to pay 9

I noticed the rating for Dottie's had taken a hit recently. Although not for food - it seems like some people are upset that the owner has made it clear she is conservative politically and supported Donald Trump in 2020. In reality, there are a few bumper stickers up on the podium where the hostess greets you and most of them shouldn't be offensive to anyone unless they are very sensitive to people expressing a different point of view. The truth is the people at Dottie's are friendly and welcoming to everyone regardless of background or political opinion. And the food remains above average. I enjoyed their version of huevos rancheros (i recommend getting the eggs over medium) and the freshly baked cinnamon sugar donut from the bakery up front. I look forward to visiting again.

The banana bread was lousy. I had to take two tins and a swig of pepto. Very condescending and arrogant owner.

Great authentic small town diner. Save room for the pies for dessert. Morning doughnuts are A+.

Walked in-took one look at big Trump Poster and left. I don't need to look at him in any restaurant. I'll give my money elsewhere.

It's that good. Food quality/price (value) rating 10. The atmosphere is classic family friendly diner. I stopped here after I just happened to pass by while headed to a friends house and decided I could eat some breakfast. I'm very happy that I did. The place was bustling on a Saturday morning and I was probably lucky to get a seat at the counter. By the time I had finished breakfast, there was a waiting line out the door which is always a good sign. The owner and Griddle Master, Peter, and his wife Stephanie, have operated this diner at this location for more than thirty years! I had the breakfast special of two eggs, HOMEMADE CORNED BEEF HASH (like striking gold), homefries, and bakery fresh rye toast - incredible! Probably the best breakfast I've had in years, seriously. The corned beef hash was properly crispy, as were the homefries, which rarely occurs at most diners even when requested. There were at least five people keeping the customers happy, and the staff and customers were all friendly and talkative. That is a bonus found only in small country towns like Southbury, a small New England postcard quality town right off Interstate 84 exit 15. If you're looking for a truly old time experience that is rare these days, run here as soon as you can. I guarantee that you won't be disappointed! I will be bringing the wife back very soon. Closed Mondays.

Pete, the chef, clearly knows his way around a grill, and the whole staff was incredibly friendly and personable -- the kind of place where you feel like a regular even if it's your first visit. Great food, great people, and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend stopping in!

My friend and I both had burgers, which were delicious -- but what were REALLY awesome were the french fries. Slim, perfectly cooked and salted -- hoo mama. Other reviewers have mentioned that the menu has more of an Asian influence -- this continues to be true, and in fact, when we return I'd like to try some of those more specifically Asian or Asian-inspired dishes. One thing I perceived, though, was that the pickles on the burger were brined in something that tasted almost seafood-y -- I'm allergic so I don't think it was actual fish sauce or something, but something that gave it a slight fishy taste, like when you have seaweed. Anyway, that was the only thing I didn't care for -- but it didn't bother me enough to not want to try again! We loved the ambience and the location was also super convenient with free parking in the back. I'll update my review after my next visit!

3.5 stars We were on…read moreour way home from a road trip and were looking for a great lunch spot on our route, when we came across Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, which was located in the quaint town of Sandy Hook. As we drove through the village, we saw the restaurant on our left-hand side. It was housed in a historical brick building with a sprawling deck overlooking the Pootatuk River. It was a beautifully sunny day, so I immediately suggested that we dine outside. Unfortunately for us, the part of the balcony that was covered and offering live acoustic music was completely full. That meant that we were seated on the far edge of the patio with no shield from the strong sun or any ability to hear the tunes. In addition to the unideal seating, the food took a very long time to arrive, so I just sat there roasting. The server offered to move us inside, but we stuck it out for the view. I had ordered the Fattoush Salad with Chicken. The Mediterranean bowl included mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, feta, kalamata olives, and fried naan croutons, though I had omitted the red onion that was also supposed to be in the blend. I had asked for the red wine vinaigrette on the side and wound up not using much of it. The salad was fresh and tasty, but the chicken had an odd preparation. It was not grilled (like I would have hoped for a healthy salad topper) and not deep-fried, but was roasted or pan-fried or something, which I had not expected. It had a crispy skin, but remained reasonably tender at least. I also grabbed a few of my partner's fries, which were excellent. After we wrapped up the meal, I stopped inside to cool off and use the facilities, which consisted of a singular, unisex bathroom in the corner of the rustic dining room. There was a bit of a line, and they could certainly have benefitted from additional restrooms. I really did like the antique atmosphere at Foundry Kitchen and Tavern, but I think that the heat just made the experience a bit challenging for me. I would definitely consider returning, but would be more diligent in my seating and food selections.
