Nice server, good drinks, seated fast, good atmosphere and chips/salsa. Dog friendly, even gave me a dog bowl with water for my Pomeranian.

Stopped by for a taco and margarita. Great food, chips and salsa. The patio dining was a great experience for our fur baby while we enjoyed a great meal.

This is a Mexican diner that is on the smaller side. It's seat yourself. Since it's family owned, service is a little slower as there isn't many servers but please be patient. You get chips and salsa to start. The salsa is good but the chips were stale. We ordered the chicken fajitas which were good and the carne asada which was also really good. I will say they have really good flour tortillas!!

However, they will charge you for a cup of water and there is a $.40 service fee which I cannot explain. At least there was no credit card fee, but the tip screen was waiting. To be honest, their bacon and egg basic taco is pretty average, nothing special, but their red spicy sauce definitely took it up a notch. Their potato sausage and egg taco barely had any discernible sausage to it. It's the communal salsa bar that really makes the tacos extra special. They do have a fountain drink station, bottled soda on ice and a pot of coffee by the order window. You can get quite a variety of mixed drinks like margaritas along with numerous beer choices, although no local beers. Because of the value and sauces, I would definitely come back to this spot again. And just so you know, they do not have a public bathroom here and they are closed Monday. Ten informative photos to fill in what words miss.

Unfortunately, this experience felt less like a restaurant opening and more like a dress rehearsal no one stopped. First problem: location confusion. We went to what turned out to be their second spot--which, crucially, was not called Nurys on the sign. Same ownership, new space, old identity crisis. Walking in felt like entering a building that hadn't yet decided what it wanted to be when it grew up. The lingering aroma? A strange duet of fish, antiseptic, and industrial cleaning agents. Not hunger-inducing. More "urgent care with a fryer." There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. This one wasn't terrible--it was worse. It was forgettable. And that's the real disappointment.

Right away, the service felt off. Our waitress didn't even ask if we wanted drinks before jumping straight to, "Are you ready to order food?" Then she disappeared for long periods, even though we were basically her only table besides one other couple. The food was extremely underwhelming -- basic, barely warm, and nothing memorable. On top of that, there were so many flies inside that we were nonstop swatting them away. And to make matters worse, there was a bug in my drink when it was served to me. That was pretty much the final straw. Overall, a very forgettable and disappointing experience. We probably won't come again, and I would not recommend it.

I had see it recommended by so many people and I'm happy to report that it lived up to the hype (and still impressed me)! NOTES: - Reservations: no... walk in only - Parking: a few spots on the side of the building but free street parking nearby as well - Closed on Wednesday THE HIGHS: - Our server, Kevin, was PHENOMENAL... he was friendly but fast and efficient! - Coffee was strong and refilled constantly - Food came out quickly and everything was fresh - Not a single bad bite... everything was delicious! THE LOWS: - I wish I had more stomach space to try other items! THE PRICE: An absolute STEAL for how good the food is! - Country Biscuit and Sausage Gravy ($13.50 + $1 for cheese added to scrambled eggs) - Josephine ($13) - Short Stack Pancake ($6) - Biscuit ($2.50) - Side of Grits ($4) The total was $44.50 after tax ($3.30) and a credit card processing fee ($1.20) but before tip. (We also got coffee but weren't charged for it) BEST BITES: - Josephine (biscuit was thick and soft, egg was fried perfectly, brie cheese was creamy and delicious, honey ham added the perfect savory element, and the fig preserves added a nice touch of sweetness) - Pancakes (thick and fluffy... everything you'd want them to be) - Grits (simple but delicious... I've had a lot of grits and these were the perfect texture) THE VERDICT: This was my first visit to Sunset Grill after seeing it recommended by so many people... it was a must-try while in Fredericksburg and it was one of my favorite meals of the trip! The service was fantastic, the prices are affordable, and the food is top-tier for comfort breakfast. I already can't wait to come back and will recommend it to everyone I know visiting Fredericksburg!

There is a covered attached patio that helps during their busy times (weekends). Even though they have gotten more popular, their service and food quality have not suffered one iota. Our Chilaquiles and Huevos Divorciados were cooked and served perfectly. The chilaquiles sauce, always red, was outstanding. We ordered coffee ($3 per cup) and water. We were brought the coffee and waters and we ordered. I had the Huevos Rancheros ($17) and my wife had the Fruit Granola Yogurt ($13). Our food was brought out after a bit and it looked good. However, there were problems with both dishes. My wife's dish, advertised a Greek Yogurt was more like they scooped some Yoplait into the bowl instead. There was some fruit chunks, but not near enough to justify the $13 cost. She said the carved strawberry was the best part of the dish and the granola was good, but certainly did not taste homemade. My dish was barely warm, the beans were way too soupy, and I had asked for over-medium eggs, but they came over easy. I sent it back and told the server the dish was lukewarm and the eggs were not prepared as requested. She quickly came back with another plate that pretty much had the exact same issues. Lukewarm beans and potatoes and over-easy eggs. Rather than send it back again, I ate less than half and called it quits. Our bill came to ~$40 and it was probably worth less than half that. Another tidbit is that we had to ask twice for coffee refills. The place was not really busy either. Not sure why it gets 4+ stars because I struggle with giving it 2. Overall, not worth the price and the quality of the food was lacking. Service was decent, but aside from that it doesn't rate another visit.
