I've done business with Les Schwab for more than 40 years and have consistently had good experiences--until today. I purchased new tires this summer. Yes, their prices are higher, but I've always justified it because of the guarantee, free flat repairs, and replacement if a tire is irreparable. I've thought of it as "tire insurance." A couple of weeks ago, I had a flat. They repaired it, but it turned into a slow leak. I arrived at 9:00 AM this morning with only three people ahead of me. They aired up the tire and said I was in the queue. When I returned around 9:50 AM, a flood of walk-ins had arrived. I was told I had an appointment in an hour--then 1.5 hours later, still nothing. Eventually I was informed it wasn't "technically" an appointment. After decades of loyalty, this was a huge customer service failure. Very disappointing. It seems like every time private equity buys a company, the service quality declines--and sadly, Les Schwab appears to be going down that path. read more

Specifically the Lea Schwab on Harlow. wow they are bad. First, I brought in my Ford Transit for a small leak. I asked if they still were good after they fixed the leak and they said yes, plenty of wear. Brought them in a week later to be rotated before a long road trip and the guy said "way too much wear, we can't rotate them." He said the guy who told me they were great was new and didn't know what he was doing. Really? maybe train him? On the road trip a tire blew out. We put the spare on. I just took it in to get new tires. Paid $1200 and they didn't put the spare back. It's a Ford Transit and they said they didn't know how. They didn't know how to replace the spare!!! If a tire shop doesn't know how, who does? The Les Schwab on Harlow is truly terrible. read more

Let me start by saying, I've trusted & gave my business to Les Schwab for a lot of years, and out of those years, I have very little to complain about, which is why they get 4 out 5 stars. So I received a service that cost me nearly $1,900, and then I heard a noise coming from an area of the car they had serviced, which I never heard before. I returned the car with the idea that I would leave there feeling heard, but I did not. Rather, I left with a new quote to fix that new problem that sprouted the moment I paid them for the service they performed previously. To me, my value, as a customer seems less than in the past. I have been a Les Schwab customer for over 20 years and have visited them in several states and many locations and have never been dissatisfied with their customer service and thought today would be the first time. Kevin, the Manager, did step in and saved the day. I needed new batteries for my Dodge diesel truck and decided to visit Les Schwab. I was waiting at the door before they opened and there was a bit of a line. I spoke with the first lady and she gave me a quote and said they would get them installed in a bit. The Second person came over and got my truck. A bit latter the second person came over and explained they would have to put in a different battery since their inventory was off. A little while later the second guy found me for the third time and explained they needed to put a different set of batteries in and it would take a "couple" hours to get them here. After 4 hours I asked a person at the desk if I could get an update on the time. She said it would be a bit more time. I asked her to contact the truck driver several times before she stated she just talked to him and it would be about 45 minutes. I thought: if I had known the schedule a bit better I could have gone somewhere else or rescheduled for tomorrow so I could get ready for my 12 hr night shift that was coming up. I then approached the Manager, he immediately gave me an actual estimate of time and did take care of me at a level I was accustomed too by giving me specific information that I could make decisions with. It was a good conversion and I would recommend this Les Schwab to others, though as hard working as they all are, I would add going there after the snow falls is a very busy time for them. This once was a reputable business. Now they are scammers. I dropped my car off in the morning. The only call I got was 5 minutes after they closed telling me I could pick up my car in the next 10 minutes. The next day when I went in to pick up the car I was charged more than the highest quote. They had changed the rotors out without asking. When I asked to see them they showed me and offered me a refund because they did not need to be replaced. Bad bad business. I have heard they are more honest at the Eugene location. I would be weary of this business as a whole from now on. read more

Made a noon appointment for seasonal tire change arriving at 11:50am. At 12:48pm no one has moved my car yet!! Over ten others have been moved! First off, let me say it is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I have been a Les Schwab customer for 20+ years. And for 15 of those years, their customer service and the products they offered were outstanding. We trusted them to take care of every vehicle in the family. We've even recommended Les Schwab to friends and coworkers. But, over the last 5 years, with several visits to two separate Les Schwab stores, I have to say something has definitely changed for the worse. Here was the last visit we had with Les Schwab. We took our 2008 Toyota 4Runner to Les Schwab for tires. I called on the phone, gave them name and license number, and said, I'd like to replace the tires currently on the vehicle. No problem rep said, what do you want. I say, I just want the same tires I currently have on there. Ok, looks like we have those, when would you like to bring your car in? We arrange an appointment. We drop off the 4Runner. We come back several hours later, go inside, pay, listen to the 'warranty' gab, and head out to the car. My SO is just about to get in the car, when she says, hey these aren't the same tires I had on there before! I look, and sure enough, they aren't the same. We walk back inside, and explain the situation. The guy says, we put on the tires you asked for. At this point I say, so on a vehicle that has 250,000 miles on it, that we've brought to Les Schwab for multiple sets of tires to be put on, you're saying that I just decided to call up and request a different tire to be put on? And not only did I request a different tire, but you happened to have that different tire in stock? What do you think the chances of that are? At this point, another rep takes over. He explains that they no longer carry the Toyo High Country tires we have purchased in the past. He explains they now carry the Toyo Back Country tire that was put on the vehicle. I ask many questions, one of which was, do they not make the tires we had on previously any more? Well, they make it, we just don't carry it. And it'll take a couple of weeks to get the tires here if you want them. He goes on, if you don't like the tires we put on, bring the vehicle back, and we'll swap them out. I pause, then reply, that sounds reasonable, so we leave. The next day, we drive to Medford. On the way, we get TPMS warnings. We keep pulling off of I-5, to fill the tires. After arriving in Medford, we go to the Les Schwab, and they notify us that the TPMS devices (something) wasn't installed correctly, or was messed up during tire installation, and it was creating a slow leak in two tires. Jeez. We did not have any leaks following the fix from the Medford Les Schwab. After driving a few thousand miles on the Toyo Back Country Touring, we have decided we don't want the tires - when driving the 4Runner on the highway (we put a lot of highway miles on this vehicle), the car has a really annoying 'drift'. I'd give the replacement Toyo Back Country tires 1/5 Stars - vs the Toyo High Country tire we purchased before for ten years, which was 5/5 stars. So, we talked between us about the aforementioned 'incident', along with a similar brake rotor 'incident' on another vehicle we own (ordered brake rotors only to find the rotors they put on were not the rotors I ordered), and we have come to the conclusion, that we cannot recommend or do bussiness with any Les Schwab anymore. I'll just leave it at that. You can draw your own conclusions. read more

I wanted to give a shout out to this Les Schwab. I was camping up in the mountains above Oakridge. I woke up to find my tire had a nail in it losing air and had to come back down on a Saturday and wasn't sure if any place was open to deal with this very inconvenient chore which could ruin the weekend. This Les Schwab was open and took care of my tire even though it was not one of theirs, free of charge. Pastin got me back on the road and back to camping in a veryshort time. I hate to do this but it's time to finally leave a review for Les Schwabs. I've been using them exclusively for 23yrs now and have never really shopped around until now. Recently I did a big project which required shopping for wheels, tires, shocks, lift, alignment, mounting and balancing, etc. with each purchase I called around to get the best price on a specific brand/part. Les Schwabs consistently came in at 25% higher that the competition every time. The exact set of Toyo tires were $90 cheaper per tire everywhere else. Mounting/balancing is $53, but it's only $21 everywhere else. They are no longer here to help people, they've gotten too greedy. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

That's why I had found comfort in my Corvallis Les Schwab. They were patient and accepted me despite my ignorance. But alas! I have moved to Eugene and when my car told me to check tire pressure and rotate tires, I knew the time had come to begin a new search. I think I've found a great replacement in this Springfield Les Schwab. All of my info was in their system from Corvallis (awesome!) and they had the same straightforward honesty (i.e., "You don't need this now, but you do need this.") I am from out of town and have a job to get back to and am now stranded in Eugene because JOSHUA doesn't know how to do his job and didn't measure the width of the tires!!! Who doesn't think to do that?!?HORRIBLE SERVICE. Incompetent and clearly don't know shit about cars. Thanks for making us spend an extra 500$ for spending three extra nights here. Will never go back. My husband and I were traveling from Astoria Oregon to Sacramento California and about halfway through the trip we noticed a strange grinding noise coming from the driver side rear wheel well. We decided to take it to les Schwab because we have had reliable work done with them in the past. We drove to the shop and checked in. They had a look at it and within an hour we had the issue diagnosed. They said they were willing to grab the parts from a nearby auto parts store since the didn't have them at the shop and knew we were traveling but that it could take a few hours. We said that would be great. They started working on the car and we noticed that they were supposed to close in ten minutes. I went in and asked if they were keeping the car overnight and they said normally they would but since they know we are traveling that they were going to do it for us quickly so we could get back on the road. I blew out my tires on the way to Seattle Wednesday before Christmas. The team here had set me up with a great deal on used tires and with my wife sleeping children in the car moved me right into the bay. The used tires had an issue and they came to me looking like beaten puppies, apologizing for the mix up. The fix they proposed cost $100 more but they were brand new tires. My Les Sob story begins with stopping by this location in late March to have my tires rotated before taking my family to Utah. One of their associates ran to greet me in the lot. Hearing my reason for the visit he challenges me, "Are you sure you've gone five thousand miles?" "No, I just really enjoy taking time away from earning a living to come by for a superfluous visit," was the response that floated through my head. I mustered a more respectful response, "I'm not sure exactly how many miles it's been since my last visit." Fast forward to last week when I show up to the same location and discover that two failing tires are the reason for the tremors I experienced while driving certain speeds. The person helping me says it's because I don't rotate my tires enough. When I mention I've faithfully rotated my tires and was just here in March, he discovers there's no record of my visit. It's as though I never came in. Nothing. I ask if this has ever happened before, insinuating that "This should concern you that a customer came in and you have no record of the visit." No response. I infer that the last visit was so distasteful I think that after fifteen years of Les Schwab patronage I'll shop elsewhere for replacements. No response. A few options exist for what happened: 1. The lack of record demonstrates that I didn't bring my car in to be serviced in March. 2. Les Schwab rotated my tires but failed to make record of it. If this is the case, the only logical conclusion is that the tires are faulty since two of the four have plenty of wear left. 3. Les Schwab didn't rotate my tires, and therefore didn't enter a work order. This would explain why there's no record of my visit and why my tire prematurely expired. I'm a huge supporter of local and regional businesses. I'd rather not support Costco or other national tire suppliers. But Les Schwab is making it tough to think of much else. Here's the kicker. My teenage child was with me on the second visit. I was explaining how Les decided to differentiate themselves by out serving the competition. I said this only to have her witness twenty minutes later a customer service meltdown. That's my Les Sob story. I do wish it had a happier ending. I don't doubt others who say they've had better experiences, but mine was sufficient to send me down the road. read more

His intent was to pay cash for the repair but she was so disrespectful to him that he left and went to Bi- mart to repair tire himself. Les Schwab can't make it without patronage. I brought my 13' travel trailer in to have the tires checked and if they needed to be replaced, what the cost would be. I had just had the trailer serviced and it was recommended to me by the RV service center that I should check to see if my tires needed to be replaced because of the age of the tires and that although the original tires looked great... a tire business could advise me as whether or not to replace them. I took them in... Les Schwab employee checked my tires... he thought they looked great and suggested I could replace them given that they were old tires. So he offered me a quote of almost $400 for a pair of tires. Again the tires looked great... yes they were old. I decide to go to a local hitch and trailer business and get another opinion... they said because of the age... yes they should be replaced. I thanked them and said I guess I will bite the bullet and pay the $400... the owner of the hitch and trailer business was shocked at that price and told me to go to another local tire business... so I did. I went there... their service was reminiscent of the courtesy and professionalism I use to experience at Les Schwab. They replaced my tires with a better tire than the old ones for $164... $164!!! I was reminded of another incident when the same Les Schwab told me I needed a brake job that would cost me about $4-500... and it turned out that bumping sound that would occur when hitting the brakes hard was my load leveling hitch that I use when I tow the same trailer I mention above... it was bouncing a little in the receiver. They even took it on a test drive to replicate the sound... and came back with a "major brake repair needed". Fortunately I figured it out the morning of the day I was to have the repair... I hit a speed bump in my condominium parking lot... heard that same sound... and took care of the bumping sound for free... I have had a long customer history with Les Schwab... buy my trust in this company has diminished... I think though... I have found another company to deal with and I have decide to no longer be a Les Schwab customer... read more

This Les Schwab Tire Center has consistent great service. They are quick and very helpful. I picked up a nail and they patched it up for free! They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. They also rotated my tires for me. Because of this quality of service, I think Les Schwab Tires are worth the slight premium.
