Leslie's Pool Supplies, Service & Repair is a great option for items you need in a pinch. I ordinarily order pool supplies online, but Leslie's is nearby and pretty well stocked. The employees are helpful, but I often have to ask questions and ask for explanation/clarification. Leslie's carries a variety of pool and spa essentials. They also offer free in-store water testing and free in-store labor on repairs. I recommend having your water tested, especially during the warm/busy summer months. For in-store repairs, you just pay for parts. Sweet deal, but parts can be pricey. Like every other store, Leslie's has a rewards program; Leslie's Rewards Program. They offer special offers and savings...haven't seen any, yet. I signed up a year ago and during my recent visit the employee was unable to locate my account so my purchase didn't count for rewards credit. Weekly water testing at location is a great tool to keep pool water balanced. Steve is very knowledgeable and explains the application of chemicals in detail and answers all your questions. I am a real customer and owner of a pool for over 30 years in Vista. I do the maintenance to keep the pool running myself. I went to the 'guy' down the street in Vista (North County Pools) for 15 years trying to support a local business. Last year I was having an issue with algae. I kept going to the 'guy' down the street for help. I kept telling him about the problem, getting more chemicals from him, listening to his 'folksy' instructions on what to do. A month later I still had an algae problem. I am not a chemist and not particularly diligent about my pool maintenance but this 'guy' down the street expressed little interest in getting my problem solved. So, I reluctantly went to the Leslie's down the street. That's where I met Steve. I described my problem and my journey to his store. He asked me to bring in a water sample before he would 'prescribe' any remedies. Why didn't the 'guy' down the street ask for a water sample 30 days ago? I can't answer that but I can continue to opine that the 'guy' down the street didn't care. I brought Steve a water sample and he performed multiple tests and entered the results into the computer program that analyzes the numbers. Then he printed out the recommended steps to resolve my issue. He went over the print out and I have to say that I was overwhelmed by what I needed to do but he was kind and supportive and provided the information to support the steps that I needed to take. After the algae problem abated (yes I followed the steps religiously and came back with a new water sample every week for a month for him to test) he suggested I use a weekly product (Perfect Weekly) to keep the phosphates down (this is what causes algae to thrive). It worked !! The team at this Leslie's store cares about the condition of your pool (even if you don't). That can mean that they deliver news to you that you don't want to hear. Nobody wants to hear that they have water that is so neglected that it needs a lot of help ($$$) to get it back to 'normal'. But once you accept that you have been neglecting the water and now need to pay attention to it (you end up paying more in the long run when you neglect the water and have to buy shock and other products to get your water neutralized again) you will be pleasantly surprised when Steve tells you your water sample is good. Don't blame the messenger when they tell you that you need to take steps that you've never taken before to get your water clear, clean and algae free. I admit that I did little more than throw in chlorine and acid every week. Testing only when I felt like it. That has changed now and my water is sparkly and clean. i don't have to brush away algae anymore! Also, they repaired my Polaris pool vac until it couldn't be repaired any more. I am impressed by Steve and his team at the Leslie's store on Plaza. Don't blame them when your water sample doesn't pass the test! read more

Today I went into Leslie's in Oside, as I have many times. Lately they have been trying to upsell very aggressively. I told the clerk I just needed acid. When I asked for a box or cardboard to insulate my car from possible leakage, she curtly told me there was no cardboard available. Not even an offer to check. When I pointed out all the boxes around the store, she rudely asked me which ones were empty. I did not appreciate the high pressure sales tactics, but was not rude and certainly did not deserve her rude treatment. This is a Leslie's I will not be revisiting. Steve and Brian are fabulous. It has been hard to keep my pool water regulated since I purchased my house 3 years ago. I have gone through many companies that have had a hard time and charged me an exorbitant amount of money. A friend told me to go down and speak to Steve. My pool water has been exactly where it needs to be since then. Steve has a machine that indicates the exact chlorine/bromide that is needed. Me " I need a flame sensor" sgg "for which model" me " I don't know" sgg " there are over 90 different models" me can't we just match up the probe?" Sgg says more slowly this time and louder while staring me down " there are over 90 different models!" So a little disgruntled I decide to go elsewhere. But on the way I thought I would let him know how condescending he was being. Upon hearing it he halfass apologizes with " I'm sorry you feel that way". Luckily I love Leslie's, and have for years. Steve, went above and beyond to help locate a salt cell for our pool after ours died. He actually found one and personally brought it to the Oceanside store for me, then called when he said he would, so I could stop over and pick it up. He did this all with a smile and good wishes. The reason I mention that is because I went to the Encinitas Leslie's and the woman was not helpful , rude & looked a wreck , I really appreciated being assisted by someone who took pride in their job and wanted to make a good first impression . Don't go to Leslie's!! Go to the local store down the road in Vista. Most of the people that work at Leslie's are unkind, it takes forever to get served and it is a HUGE waste of money! They will talk you into buying bunch of useless expensive chemicals that will just make your water cloudy and then sell you more chemicals to remove the excess chemicals they told you to add. read more

Could not believe how poor the service was by Dylan. I've been going to this store since 1987 and have never had such poor service. Dylan was eating chips when I walked in and did not say a word as I approached the counter. I set my water sample on the counter and he proceeded to do the water sample without say a word. Once complete he put the report on the counter and did say anything! Normally the tech will explain the water quality and and let you know where to find the chemicals needed. I looked at the AuuuBkue report and saw that I needed alkalinity up and asked where it was located, his response was to point and say over there. I know it is hard time to find good people these days but this guy was the worst. I was in the service industry for 40 years and I have never come across a person more I'll-suited to serve customers. However I was in the pool and spa business for quite a few years and feel that this store is well laid out and carries all the equipment and materials that you could possibly need. Now I have read the other reviews and see that a number of people have had poor customer service, but my personal experience has been outstanding. When I have gone in I have spoken to Steve and he is one of the most knowledgeable, professional, AND generous people I have ever met. Steve doesn't only have tons of professional industry experience but he's a homeowner that was intimately involved with the building of his own pool. Steve has helped me with lots of decisions and ideas as I come to the point that I will be choosing a contractor and building a pool. Steve through his own experiences has kept me from making a number of mistakes in design, Steve is a manager that serves people like an owner and he truly embodies all the ideals of first class customer service! Bought my supplies here for the last 2 years. But we were in twice this week (last time was today at 10:30 AM) and both times the employee never stopped to say he would be right with us. The first time we waited 20 mins without any acknowledgement. Today we left after 10 mins. I ordered everything we needed from Amazon and will have it by late tomorrow afternoon. It was even cheaper. I like to buy local but not from a place where employees don't acknowledge their customers. On Tuesday, another customer walked out with us. I just bought a Pentair Intelliflo pool pump and a Hayward pool cleaner, and paid top-dollar for it, thinking that the $99 install would make the deal palatable (the otd price was over $2100!!) WRONG, Steve, the clerk sneaked in a $25 "travel fee" for his installer, and a $30 "material" charge onto the invoice. When I complained, he told me "that's the way it is". $99 install? NOT, the install price was really $155. NEVER again, will I step foot in that store - and you shouldn't either. I see a lot of other posts from customers that seem satisfied. This Leslie's Pool supply store is beyond one of the best in the area. Steve, the manager, not only is he very knowlegable , but is incredibly profesional and all about customer service! I use to shop at the 76 & college location when he worked there, but since he left, that store has not provided the same service at all. A woman who works there is the best employee here imho. A skinny guy with glasses is not very kind. He smokes and you can just tell he hates his job. I don't care about the money I spend on supplies. I just really want someone to give me and my pool/spa needs the time of day. Only the lady has great customer service and doesn't feel the need to sell me unnecessary expensive stuff. This place is great. I bought a house with a hot tub and knew as much about maintaining it as I know about rocket science. Rick was great. He tested a sample of the the hot tub water for free and told me exactly what I needed to do to make it usable. Instead of selling me a bunch of products I didnt need he advised me to bring him in the products the previous homeowner used so I would buy just what I needed. After drain and refilling the tub and a little treatment I was enjoying my hot tub. I highly recommend these guys for all your pool and hot tub needs. read more

Don't bother frequenting this business unless you have an in ground pool. A VERY snobby douche employee wouldn't give me the time of day because he wouldn't make enough on my sale...because I DO have an above ground pool. All I needed was a hose for my filter & he told me the one in his store wouldn't fit & I needed to go to Wal Mart or Target, then walked away. I continued to search on my own & asked another associate, named Paul. He was VERY helpful & even measured the hose to see if it was the correct size. Upon purchasing it, the douche bag employee, an older, thin man with glasses & no name tag, commented that above ground pool supplies CHEAPEN their store and that they would not be carrying them next year. I have never been treated so poorly by any employee and I hope no one visits this business because with employees that treat customers this way, WHY would anyone want to support this business?? read more
