There is not much you can do to improve. I've been attempting to shop this store for 20+ years. It is almost good for one thing only, which is in an emergency they may be able to help you. But it will cost you extra cash. What gets me is there consistency, for 20 years they have maintained there rude attitudes across employees towards customers. There are plenty of local options. Have had my 40K gal pool for 30 years now and bounce around with pool supply companies. From Leslie's to Disc Pool Supply and also private. Lately have been going to Leslie's for water testing and some chemical supplies. Philip is great, but the other sales person, isn't too pleasant to deal with. (Frank). Kind of snarky/grumpy/not to helpful. The Newbury Park Leslie's went out of business. Bummer. I liked dealing with Mike the manager back then. Anyways, a tip trick I have learned over the decades is: when getting water results, don't impulse buy by following the Water Test Results summary 'treatment plan'... to 'normalize' your results. If you brush and clean your pool and it's basically clear, take baby steps and correct slowly. You will not only correct everything in time, you will have far less chemicals. Most times fixing one parameter that is way off will correct other minor irregularities. read more

Called the store 5 days ago to see if they had our size in thermal pool covers. Have purchased from them before, and was underwhelmed by their service in the past, but thought I'd rather support local business (turns out they're a corporation, but I digress). Guy tells me they don't have them in stock, but can get it in within two to three days and takes my number, says he'll call. It's 5 days later, so I call and speak to James Bond (later found out his name is Frank and he's no special agent, let me assure you). Yes he actually gave me 007's handle when I asked him what his name was. He's a real peach. This guy tells me they don't have them in stock. After going back and forth several times; me trying to explain that I was told the cover was on order and should be in by now, and 007 telling me they are on back-order and they can't get them. TBH I would've been less frustrated with this clown if he would've said "it's Bond, James Bond" but - sadly he did not. After giving Goldfinger a lesson on proper customer service (he's the manager btw) he finally offered a solution - unfortunately it was too late. I already placed an order on Amazon; the same cover they charge $229 for I just ordered (in stock and delivered in 4 days) for $114. Save yourself the hassle of dealing with Leslie's and the International Man of Mystery aka "Frank" and purchase your pool supplies on Amazon. Or maybe there's an ACTUAL local pool store in Thousand Oaks I don't know about. read more

I have had a swimming pool in my homes for the last 40 years. I have never had a pool maintenance service and have always taken care of my pools myself. Well, me and my wife. In the 1980s there weren't a lot of pool stores around. In 2011 they opened a Leslie's Pool store in my area. The staff was great and they carried all the products I needed to keep my pool clean and balanced. They also offered great advice. Unfortunately, that Leslie's closed. The nearest Leslie's was in Thousand Oaks. Based on the service I had received at the now closed Leslies and the variety of products they cared I believed the drive was worth it. I have now been patronizing this store for several years. Phillip D. runs the store and does a great job. He is friendly, personable and knowledgeable about pool chemistry. He goes out of his way to help. I have listened to him help other customers over the years and besides showing great knowledge, he is also very patient. Even though I have had a salt water pool for years I am still learning. Phillip recently took his time to explain to me why my pool uses so much acid and how this also effects the alkalinity level of the pool. One recommendation I can give to shoppers that do their own work on their pool like me is to buy the largest container of the product Leslie's sales that they need. This cost savings is substantial and you will always need it at some point in the future. I will continue to shop at Leslie's for several reasons. The primary reason being the expertise of Phillip and excellent customer service he provides. read more

My son and I went to this location and was treated like we were stupid. We just had our pool installed and needed supplies because the people who were taking care of it just stopped. They man who helped us seemed bothered by us being there. Thank goodness we found another place that was so helpful and kind. Discount pool supplies down the street from them. Went into this location this morning to buy some pool equipment. Semi is out back with driver unloading supplies. Store employee is leaning against the wall watching the driver unload. Went into the store to buy supplies, one woman is waiting for help ahead of me. I wait 10 minutes, two people come in after me. There are now 4 paying customers waiting for help. A second employee is sweeping in the back, ignoring the customers. Forget this, I walked out, to see the same Leslie employee leaning agains't the store wall watching the driver unload. Unbelievable POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Googled Pool Supplies from my phone, and found Discount Pool Mart half a block down from Leslie's. 2 employees eager to help me the minute I walk in. Give your business to people who want it, not this store. read more

I had a good experience with this location! There was a pool filter online that was the same that the store sells, but on the web it was $30 less. Several phone calls later, the person helping me in the store said he would just match it for me. They were the same product but different part numbers but he still made the exception. I though that was very nice. I would have given 5 stars if it was an easy price match, but unfortunately their policies get in the way of this. 5 stars for the employee! read more

The ABSOLUTELY most amazing people work here! Phillip is super knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I have been dealing with having to much phosphate for three weeks. Phillip has helped me through it all. Eddie and Jaison were also super helpful, friendly, and extremely excited with me today and throughout my weeks of water testing till my phosphates finally got to perfect. This place and these men really do care about helping you get your pool and spa to perfection. I feel confident in myself and with their help I know my pool & spa will continue to look beautiful everyday. Go there from time to time to have my water checked for my pool. Inconsistent depending on who is checking the water. Seems like they just want to sell product. Just think before buying what they propose hook, line and sinker. Bought my own testing kit and will do it myself. read more

The store has a clean, fresh, open and well organized feeling. Phillip, the store manager, has more than helped me over the years. For example, I noticed that my pool sweep motor was leaking big time roughly 4 hours prior to a scheduled Roadrunner shuttle to LAX. I explained my tight schedule to Richard and he dropped everything, replaced the seals. and provided proper reinstallation directions to save the new seals - very cool. I successfully installed the sweep motor and my wife and I started our vacation on time. Thanks Richard! Additionally, yesterday I brought in my pool sweep for repair. Marisa took charge and broke down the sweep, identified the problem, installed the failed part, reassembled the sweep and I was on my way home in short order - so cool. Thanks Marisa! I have been having tons of trouble with the spa and our condo association. My hair broke /burned off. I contacted HOA and they gave me stock answer "all the chemicals levels are to the health codes". After continued troubles, I found out that Leslie's will test the water. Bart at the T.O. location has been a tremendous help ! Still can't get HOA to properly monitor levels or even advise of any kind of pool maintenance schedule. read more

Had a pool for 20 years. Bought new bucket of chlorine shock from Leslie's in Thousand Oaks about 4 months ago. Pretty soon thereafter, my chlorine levels didn't go up and the pool got cloudy initially then basically turned to milk after a few months of use. Took pool water in for testing at Leslie's and they just kept telling me it was low on chlorine but otherwise all normal and maybe I needed to clean my filter... I clean my filter all the time. I finally gave up after 4 months and no help from Leslie's and bough a new bucket of Chlorine shock and my pool cleared up in about 12 hours! Took the bad bucket back to Leslie's but their arrogant store manager Philip said there was nothing wrong with it. The guy will say anything to avoid taking responsibility for an obvious bad batch. Stay away if you like good service. read more

Very helpful staff in the store. They have given great advise over the years and will even do so over the phone. I had all the inground pool pumps, heater and filter units replaced last year through this store. The technician spent time with me to explain how everything worked, not rushed at all. They even call later to check up on you. read more
