I have been coming to this spot for several years. Oftentimes, it is a good value, it is a local…read morespot where they still use the straightedge, it's always a lively spot. There are a few barbers who are consistently good.....and there are a few who unfortunately have been consistently unsatisfactory. I am a very forgiving guy and am still planning on patronizing this business, but will probably opt for a different barber in the future. The last two times I have been there, the gent cutting my hair has spent at least equal if not more time on his phone than he does cutting my hair...trying to make it look like he's doing something by blindly spraying or doing something to make it look like he's being attentive. I appreciate the sentiment, but my body language could not have been clearer that it was getting to be more than a little bit irritating that he's half-assing the job, especially when I emphasized how important this haircut is, as I have important appointments in the very near future and need to look presentable. When I walked in, I WANTED to wait for the gent with the buzzcut who always does an amazing job, and is very friendly....but I gave this guy a second chance....and for the second time, the "line-up" is very wavy, and for the second time, he nicked my neck in the process. LUCKILY I had a bit of extra neck whiskers to work with prior to going in, because I had to dip into that when I had to fix my own lineup. I am used to coming home from Supercuts and essentially giving myself a second haircut...I really didn't want to do it coming home from here, and hopefully, when I change barbers, I won't have to worry about that. Honestly, this cut is so subsatisfactory that I am toying with the idea of rescheduling some of the appointments until it grows in a bit. This place is cash-only and I made sure I had enough plus enough for a tip.... When he was done botching my coiffe, I gave him the exact amount, made it clear that I do not wish to have him cut my hair again, and on the way out, I'm 99.9% sure I heard the gent utter derogatory expletive. I have worked in the customer-service industry for over 25 years, and I know people have bad days, and some guests have high standards and all that jazz, but this isn't a one-off thing here. I did have to look for a new barber, so this was my first time going to Felix. Let me say it was worth it. The place could use some upkeep (Center Salon), but for a guy just getting a cut, I don't mind. Felix is an incredible barber! He had an attention to detail that I enjoyed. As he clipped my hair around the chair, I could tell he noticed something he didn't like. He suggested I tighten the fade on my left side and I went with his suggestion. It was great! It made the haircut look much cleaner and neater, and it helps me breathe even better up top. I will also be happy to give someone like Felix my business.
