This was my first time visiting Nzinga's and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was even more exciting that on Thursdays the shrimp and grits are half off. I ordered takeout and I felt that it was prepared in a sufficient amount of time (about a 10 min wait). The food was hot, well seasoned, and good. The menu had so many items that looked good and I definitely have to come back to visit. The staff was very nice and kind. This was our second visit. The staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the croissant breakfast sandwich, and the hub had the shrimp and grits. This is not my first time eating Nzinga's. The wings are decent and the chicken tenders are okay. I just ordered the pancake combo and they were burnt and inedible. The food here fails to provide a wow factor. They have a two for 6.99 breakfast sandwich deal, which can include a coffee for an extra dollar. However, almost every time I've ordered the coffee, it was never delivered and I had to get money back. It's to the point, where I just stopped ordering the coffee. I do keep in mind that I have only received food through delivery, but the service and food quality should not differ simply because I don't eat in person. It was a hard pick but I went with the cajun only because it had onions in it which added to the flavor and texture. I went here on an early Saturday and have not stopped thinking about it. I got the fried fish and Cajun grits and it may have been the best fried fish I have ever had. Crispy outside but hot and steamy inside. Their grits were savory with good Cajun spicing. The strawberry lemonade was so good, we bought extras. Really flavorful and generous. The bread was a dense crumb that didn't fall apart, the shrimp was tender with a crisp outside, the tomatoes were juicy and the sauce was just a little bit spicy. Delicious southern food served quickly. You can sit down or order it to go. I had the naked wing combo that came with bbq wings, spicy collards, and yams. The collards were super spicy, so not for me but good if you like spicy food. The yams were delicious! My friend ordered the whiting and shrimp combo with fries and collards: huge portion! There are other sauce options for the wings and the combo comes with two sides. I do wish there were more vegetarian menu options, especially for the sides. They do not serve alcoholic drinks from what I could see. They have an assortment of freshly made fruit lemonades, water, and other soft drinks. The staff was friendly and helpful. Let me tell you this food is so good. It's like eating at your grandma's house when you were younger on a sunday morning. I ate every INCH of that food, I even had to tell the girl at the register that the food was amazing. The restaurant was very clean and I love how spaced out the tables are. No matter where you sit you are not too close to your neighbor. All the food comes in takeout trays which I like because it's an easy cleanup and I don't have to ask for a box! It's a brunch place and soul food place, me and my partner got brunch. We both got the breakfast combo with french toast, beef bacon (I got turkey sausage), and fries. A lot of times when a dish has a "sweet + spicy" type sauce it's really just one or the other, but I thought this sauce was perfect with both spice and honey flavors coming through. The chicken was crispy and cooked well too. It's a bit of a hidden gem in a strip mall that's easy to miss, so I'm glad to have this on my map and will definitely be coming back to try the brunch or the Wednesday wings deal. read more

It was literally seasoned to perfection. My fish had a perfect crunch to it-so yummy. The grits were a perfect consistency-not too runny and not too thick. Perfect consistency. Also this was a to go order and it was ready when I got there. I actually got a notification it was ready when I was a few minutes away-impressive. It was pretty empty inside and I ordered the Griddle combo (Red velvet waffle, bacon and 2 eggs sunny side up). The food came out in about 10 minutes. Unfortunately the eggs completely undercooked- the egg white was still mostly raw. I was so thrown off that I forgot to take a picture of the food. The Red Velvet Waffles has the texture of cake and overall was delicious. The cost came to around $12. I gave it a 3 star because of the overall quality of the food and the cost. read more
