Quality isn't bad for how much you will be paying for the food and side dishes are quite good as well. The place is almost always packed with people and service here is great. Cool vibe,it's pricey but it's in midtown. Close to Korea Town, it could be packed. For $39 you can have All you can eat signature and classic. For $33 you can just have the classic. First off, lots of polarizing reviews here from either spectrum of the scale. Fortunately, i did not have a bad experience from either the wait staff or the food so I'll also try and humbly give an unbiased account and understanding of what to expect. Yes, it's the only AYCE KBBQ currently so expect a long wait if you dont have reservations. With that said, we had reservations for 7:30PM for a group of 7 guys (mostly big eaters) and they asked if our party was here. If your party is not complete, they'll let you know the timer will start if you want to sit without the complete party. Someone mentioned 140 minutes as the limit in their review, but the sign at the front said 100 FYI. Out of curiosity i looked at my watch when we were seated and by the time we got the check it was 87 mins to be exact. We weren't cut short by the restaurant but rather 100 minutes should be more than enough to enjoy unlimited food (explained below). However, we were approached at approximately the 60 minute mark to order any food we wanted as our limit was approaching. Service-wise, our grill was changed twice, water was replenished faster than the sauces/ban chan as we had to ask multiple times (various wait staff), and Michelle our main waitress, along with various wait staff was efficient and very courteous, given the environment they work in. Regarding the food, going straight down the menu, you'll get the unmarinated stuff first, marinated, and then spicy. All three tiers were not bland, and each one had more flavor than the previous. No complaints at all about any tier - just wished the spicy was spicier but that's just me. The premium option included a few items that were 1 per person, squid and a couple others that i stopped looking once i realized it wasnt worth it (explained below) The 2 restrooms as someone mentioned are unisex and i've seen as many as 8 people waiting. All in all, if you came here to just eat - you wont be disappointed. Our group went straight down the menu twice - would have asked for more meat but our group was nearing the end in terms of appetite. If you came here to chat, enjoying long conversations and leisure eating, go someplace else that isn't AYCE or Picnic Garden. Don't get me wrong, we still had great conversations because what else would we be doing while the food is cooking? Believe me, 100 mins is more than enough time to be eating constantly, and I'm not a small guy either. If you don't believe me, lets get together and if I eat more than you, you pay for my dinner :) In all seriousness, I am of the opinion that i like this place better as the meats were better flavored and a few more variety of meats than Picnic Garden. If i wanted the premium options such as squid and short ribs, i would go to picnic garden and pay less but i would sacrifice variety and less flavor. so why not 5-star? realistically, i do sometimes enjoy leisure eating and AYCE at the same time but this isnt the place. i would definitely come back here though! read more

Updated review I used to love this place and would come all the time, eat in, take out, delivery. Sometimes more than once a week. I told all my friends about it and would take them here too. The quality of meat were to die for. Unfortunately things changed and they changed their menu to a all you can eat place. They removed a lot of things from their menu and the quality of meat seemed to have gone down hill as well. What a shame! Good places don't last. Therefore I am updating my 5 star review to 2 stars. This place gave mild food poisoning; I've had an upset stomach since I stepped out of the restaurant, and I've eaten Korean BBQ before in other places and NEVER had this problem. Additionally, our waitress was a little rude; she made me feel stupid for responding to a simple question. She asked "what else would you like?", and we told her a few more meats and I asked for more of one the side dishes; and I felt like she talked down to me as she referred to the meat only. She also kept blasting the heat, and we nearly got hit with the popping vegetables-- even the people next to us were afraid of getting hurt. Ayce kbbq honestly service is not always on point here and they really time you on how long you sit so be sure to get everything you want and they better not miss a step, last time we went the server kept forgetting items. In addition when you want a server to order they are always nowhere to be found. Last time I came here we were stopped at our fourth order, for me that was enough for coming here with my brother and male cousin they didn't really get their fill. This place is pretty similar to O2 in Queens and I was pretty excited. It is much pricier than O2, but overall had pretty similar items if not the same. I got the usual of pork belly, brisket, steak, etc that I get at O2 and it was not bad. Everything was pretty good, however, for the price I would rather just go to O2 in Queens. I did like that they have the yelp waiting list option so I knew exactly where in line and when I would be seated. read more

It being the first AYCE KBBQ in manhattan drew my attention, decided to give this place a try, but I wasn't really impressed. The variety was lacking, and the "premium" meat wasn't that "premium" to me. We got steak after steak cause there wasn't much beef variety to choose from and we were trying to get our moneys worth. Wanted Korean BBQ and a friend recommended this place. The hostess was very nice, and followed all COVID indoor protocol. We were immediately seated due to making a reservation. As this was my first time for my guest and I, we weren't too familiar with the menu and so when the waitress came by, thought it was odd that she would just address one of us, instead of addressing the table, considering the music being a tad loud and her soft spoken voice. Nethertheless, I had to call her back to have her explain the menu to me as well. We ordered our meats, beverages and was ready to eat. As I knew we weren't supposed to cook our meats, I thought someone was going to stay and watch the meat being cooked, instead our person left, leaving our first set of meats to burn quite a bit. Thank goodness for the shells on the shrimp as they would have been burnt more. We also had to ask for an additional bowl to dispose of our shells as we only received one bowl each to eat from. About 30 minutes go by and we inquired about our beverages, to only get one of the two brought to the table. At some point we order additional meats, to prevent them from being burnt, we then decide to flip our meats as our person did not return in time. At this point, another worker chooses to flip and move our meat. At this point we inquire about our second beverage and receive it. I did not keep track of the time, but my companion mentioned receiving the check prior to the hour limit. In the end we left full, and a bit to talk about due to the service being weird in my opinion, and busy for my companion. We had a reservation for 8pm. Even if it was delayed at most it should usually be a 5-10 minute wait but we ended up waiting half an hour before getting seated. Food: a lot of varieties of meats to choose from especially for a Korean bbq spot. They have different types of meats that other places don't offer. The meat was pretty mediocre especially with the marinated meat. Marinated meat usually has more taste involved. I ordered a rice as well but the bowl was like half a bowl of rice like they wanted to cheap out. Also the bean paste was disgusting, I've never had bean paste that felt like liquid. All the other places I've been to the bean paste was more thick and had a little spicy taste to it. Also the place was very oily as my foot felt like it kept slipping and for some reason my elbow was covered in oil as well. My Foodie Friends and I decided to check this place out because it's not everyday you come across an All You Can Eat Korean BBQ restaurant in K-Town. We made reservations for 4:30pm (some would call it an Early Bird Special), but I didn't mind ~ there was no wait and we pretty much had the place all to ourselves. All of us decided to go for the Premium Menu ~ for $38.99 - which meant that we were able to pretty much have EVERYTHING (including my favorites ~ small intestines and entrails ). For a couple of less items, the Original Menu is $32.99, which still comes with ALOT, works too! My favorite selection of meats were the Skirt Steak, Pork Jowl, Bulgogi, and the Pork Belly. Honestly, there was so much more cuts of meat we wanted to try, but didn't have anywhere to put it. The quality of the meat and seafood were good. If anything, I suggest you lay off this sides ~ kimchi pancakes, japchae, etc for the actual BBQ. The waitstaff were all super friendly and our guy who cooked our meat was super patient since we got sidetracked with taking videos and photos. He would constantly remind us to Eat First #priorities, which were super grateful for! Overall, I was very happy with my experience there and would definitely go back. Just a heads up, I believe there is a time limit to how long you can stay at the table during peak hours - I am guessing 6p and on, which is understandable. But, the main problem was the quality of the meats. I'm from California where I grew up and surrounded by Korean restaurants especially KBBQ. Let's Meat's quality was about $10 AYCE Kbbq quality in Cali. That means something. $39 premium menu did not satisfied me at all. They need to either lower the price, which I think it will never going to happen due to crazy lease in Manhattan, or upgrade their quality of the meats. I'm visiting for spring break with my boyfriend's family and we wanted AYCE Korean barbecue so we found this spot near the Empire State Building. When we first got sat down, this guy (didn't get his name)was supposedly our server & he seemed nice. However, we got this server named Joohee. We didn't have a problem until we wanted entrails & intestine, which are on the premium menu, but it wasn't available. We were pretty upset because if they were OUT OF SOMETHING, they should've TOLD customers BEFOREHAND, we wouldn't have gotten premium. We did make up for it by ordering a lot of food from the premium. Don't get me wrong, the vibe was nice in there, it was spacious, and the food was good. They got our food out fairly quick, however we were not okay with the service. Even though they were quick with our food, the attitude the server had was horrible. She didn't seem to smile when she was at our table. I noticed her smiling and talking more to the Korean couple next to us. I get it, they're Korean & maybe she seemed more comfortable speaking in Korean. But for her to not smile & treat us like customers, that was just rude. And when she wasn't needed at her tables, she would talk to other servers who are Korean, who knows if they're talking shit on us or other customers. We weren't happy, but we did continue eating, trying to make the best out of it. ANOTHER RIDICULOUS PROBLEM: there were five of us doing the AYCE premium ($38.99 each), which is roughly around $200+ including tax & we got the somaek tower ($35.99). When we got the bill, it turned out to be $350 and we looked at what was charged and there was a 20% gratuity tip for a party of 6 & more. We were a party of five so we told the guy from the beginning part that we needed that changed. We were expecting it to be roughly around $293 or so. Joohee did grab the checkbook, but the server guy stopped her so he could tell her about the tip change. We were expecting Joohee to come back with our receipt & pen, however this other Korean lady, who stays in the front gave it to us. We looked at what was charged and it turned out to be $251 & we were shocked because we thought it was going to be $293 without the tip, but WE FIGURED OUT THAT SHE CHARGED US FOR 6 PEOPLE & NOT 5... JUST STUPID! We were leaving the restaurant & Joohee had the audacity to stop me as I was walking out since the others were already out to tell me that tips are usually 15% or more because we tipped her like $10-12. I saw the tipping system & 20% for what we had was about $46. I told her the service was bad & that I didn't need to explain myself. I didn't even pay for dinner too... she kept pushing the question "what was wrong, we need to know" & my boyfriend was telling to walk away.
