Stopped by for a quick jjm dinner. The service was fast and the jjm was better compared to Shanghai Mong. The portion was a bit small/average so it's recommended to order an appetizer if you're super hungry. No frills ambiance. In and out in under an hour.

First time trying sweet and sour pork from this place. I would not recommend ordering sweet and sour pork from this place. It is literally a scam. Pork is cut too thin and tiny that you barely taste pork in some of the fries and It's mostly fried batter. I really hope people who are trying sweet and sour pork for the first don't believe that this is how it supposed to taste because no! It supposed to be crunchy and pork supposed to be a lot fatter. As usual, portions are too small for spicy noodle as well considering its price and ingredients.

Service was quick and the food was fine. I would have preferred more sauce on the lemon cream shrimp. The Kkanpoonggi was a bit soggy and the pieces seemed smaller than what I'm normally used to. The restaurant is decorated very rustically which gives it a nice mom and pop style atmosphere. I recommend if trying to satiate a black bean noodle (jjajangmyeon) craving in Manhattan.

Perfectly bouncy, chewy, and long noodles. The brown sauce noodles were a wonderful price and great portion. I would certainly come again for a satisfying, savory meal. Korean style jajangmyeon is sweet, which is still delicious. I had a great time eating from here, and left with the rare happiness of someone who got a great meal for cheap. The kimchi was bland, though I don't think that detracted from the meal.

I think today the jjamppong was lacking flavor but its still good and spicy. The yellow radish and kimchi was not tasty tho. Wasnt super comforting but the spicy seafood soup was pretty satisfying. The tangsuyuk was good, hot and ready. crispy.

Great Korean-Chinese restaurant in ktown! We ordered 3 dishes to share. - Gochu jambong: 9/10 (great but super super spicy!!! Not for the faint hearted) - Jajangmyeon: 9/10 (actually pretty authentic jajangmyeon! Almost as good as the ones I had in Korea) - Tangsooyook: 9/10 (good Tangsooyook) Service was fast and good and ambiance was very casual!

This was our first stop once we arrived to the city. It's a simple diner vibe. The food was really good. Service was good and we enjoyed the items we ordered. See photo for details.

TLDR: If you are craving for Korean-Chinese in the city, it'll get the job done. Go for lunch time and take advantage of the combo that gives a small sweet and sour beef with the spicy seafood or jajangmyun noodles. I had walked by this place so many times so I figured let's give it a try. Price was decent, the interior is a bit dated but let's focus on the food. Fried dumplings. Standard, crispy (almost too crispy maybe) lots of filling but what you'd expect. Crunchy, greasy, fatty meat, lots of garlic chives. I opted for the jjampong and small sweet and sour beef combo. The beef is already dressed which I don't love the sweet sauce in general but it was still decently crispy. Spicy seafood noodles were decent, good wok flavor. For $21.95, this kind of combo in this area; it's not bad.

This place wasn't as busy as the other spots on the block, so that's why my friend and I chose it. I think I've been here before but wasn't quite sure. It's a little bit outdated inside and very simplistic, but as long as it's clean and the food is good, that's what matters. I was craving noodles, so I ended up getting half and half with both noodles with brown sauce and spicy seafood soup. My friend got the combination but didn't get to try those as I am avoiding fried food. My noodles were good, but the portion size seemed small. The price point was good for the location in midtown.

While Hyo Dong Gak has pretty good jjambong (seafood spicy noodle soup) and jjajangmyun (black bean sauce noodles), I would avoid any of their meats if possible. I got the combo of the seafood spicy noodle soup + chicken and garlic pepper sauce ($22.95) and was very excited to see how large the portion ended up being. It looked very promising and I was excited to eat. Starting off with the good: the noodles were actually very tasty. It's spicier than i'm used to, but I love spice so I enjoyed it. It felt like the bowl was never ending with all the noodles and seafood. However, the soup is definitely on the salty end though so be warned. Now, here's where it gets bad. The chicken was absolutely inedible. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or not but the chicken piece was so small and all you could taste was the batter. It was not cooked thoroughly and every single piece I tried was gummy and didn't taste like meat at all. I hate wasting food, but I genuinely had to spit it out and I stopped eating it after that. I really wish I would've just gotten the noodles on it's own. My stomach also hurt all day afterwards and I couldn't move out of my bed. It honestly seemed so promising and I wanted to like it so bad but I will not be back and do not recommend.

for the price, food wasn't that good. the ban chan was ok. my friend said the kimchi was their style but it was too salty and sour for me. gyoza was mostly dough. tangsuyuk would not recommend

If y'all haven't had Korean Chinese food, what are you waiting for?! I went to Hyo Dong Gak, which is right outside of ktown NYC and ordered their $19 split bowl, which came with a big portion of jjangmyeon and a big portion of seafood jampong. The noodles were perfectly chewy without being too soft. The jjangmyeon had the right amount of sauce and came with tiny pieces of pork. The jampong had a TON of seafood including big shrimp with the head on, baby shrimp, mussels and octopus. For $19 you really can't go wrong, that's almost unheard of in NYC! The restaurant was crowded on a random Tuesday evening, but I didn't have to wait long to get seated and I never felt rushed. The staff was extremely friendly and even gave us small packaged candies to take home with us! I will definitely be back! Follow me on instagram for more! @angies_foodie_adventures

Pretty solid place with a few things that I had issue with. But above all else it should be noted that we came in when they were 20mins from closing, and they still allowed us to sit, order before the kitchen closed, and then they rapid-fire served this food to us. Not more than 5mins after we ordered did the first dish come out, and then the food KEPT coming out like it was dimsum. It was exactly what we needed since my cousin had to eat and leave quickly before the parking garage closed. Food wise, nothing really stood out, but nothing was awful either. The seafood pancake was a standout-- super crispy and gave a look as if it were scallion pancake, but it was packed with seafood. It definitely lacked flavor on its own, though, and it was much better when we dipped it in the dumpling sauce. I also felt somewhat bamboozled because we got two orders of jjajangmyun to share between all of us, and the waiter recommended getting another order and to add extra noodles to each of them. We did that and ended up with way too much jjajangmyun. I also found it to be sweeter than I wanted it to be. Great place for a quick meal, but not sure if I'd be actively craving to come back.

I found out about this place because one of my favorite TikTok foodies posted that she came here when she was visiting from Chicago. It was also my friend's birthday so we figured we'd check it out. If you come with a group of 4 or more, including the birthday person, they eat for free, which is a pretty nice perk. This place lived up to every bit of the hype. We did the $125 option which includes lobster. If you have people in your group who are on the fence about spending the extra money, just remind them it's only about $35 more and that's basically the cost of one lobster anywhere else. Here you're getting unlimited lobster. The food literally just kept coming. At one point we were running out of room on the table. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff noticed and started putting multiple items on the same plates instead of bringing everything out separately. It sounds small but it actually helped a lot and showed they were paying attention. The drinks weren't super strong but they definitely weren't weak either. If you love seafood, come hungry and bring a group. The vibes were great, the service was on point, and we left absolutely stuffed.

The ambiance feels straight of the golden age, which is an aesthetic I'm certainly a sucker for. Even their robust cocktail menu fits the bill and is one of the prettiest menus I've ever had the joy of perusing. Staff was able to sit us a little bit ahead of our reservation which was also much appreciated. Wait staff was also very helpful and attentive, I don't think I've ever had my water glass so topped off! Starting off with cocktails, this place is a gin bar through and through and you'd be making a mistake if you didn't try one of their many options. I went with the 10,000 words, which you simply just give a spirit of your choice (I picked gin of course) and whether you antes) wanted your drink shaken or stirred and the bartender does the rest, so a bit of a surprise! I wound up with their version of The Last Word which was delightfully citrusy but I was hoping I'd wind up with something a little more adventurous app things considered. My girlfriend got the blackberry G&T, which was not only very pleasing to look at but delicious to boot. For food, we started with splitting some zucchini blossoms and beef cheek bao buns (both come in portions of 3). Both were tasty, but I love a good bao bun and these were so light and pillowy, I could have just went for an order of those for my main course. For the entree I went for the roasted half chicken, perhaps the most unassuming choice on the menu but this was maybe the best roast chicken I've ever had. Prepared perfectly, cooked to perfection, excellent portion size, and the kicker of it all was the stunning gravy that I was tempted to lick my plate for. Chicken is very easy to screw up, and they nailed it on all fronts here. My girlfriend went for the Valerie Signature burger with white cheddar and this thing did not mess around! A very rich patty, cooked to her temperature of choice served alongside some garlic truffle fries that made an American classic feel just a little more elevated. Our experience was delightful and I'd love to comeback here again, especially to check out more of the cocktail menu and soak in more of that golden age aura the place gives.

I felt unwelcome, which was tough since I came here for dinner before a Broadway show, & was left without many other available options. I arrived 25 minutes late for my reservation, but was told that my only option was to sit at the bar due to their 30 minute grace period being up (which wasn't true). I looked around the restaurant & saw it was only 20% full, but the hostess then said all the open tables are reserved for guests who are arriving soon. Based on what I saw, it was hard to believe her. I checked open table to see if any reservations were available, and sure enough there was one at 6:15pm -- mind you, I arrived at the restaurant at 5:55pm. So I book the 6:15pm table & inform the hostess. I then sat down to wait for 6:15 to come. As I waited, I noticed the hostess asked each incoming guest whether they were attending a Broadway show & what time each show was at so that they could ensure the guests made it out on time. At 6:06, she comes & says she can seat me because another guest cancelled, which again, I found hard to believe. As she leads me to my table, I noticed she didn't ask if there was a show I was attending, nor the show's start time. I stopped & asked if she wanted to know my show time before seating me, & she looked so surprised. The honest truth is that the hostess did not treat me like a customer. Instead, I felt unwelcome & couldn't help but wonder if it was related to me being Black the only Black person in the restaurant. The food was ultimately alright, but the service here really ruins the experience.
