We visited this restaurant based on a recommendation by Happy Cow. I tend to agree with most of the reviews...the food is definitely overpriced. I wouldn't say the portions are small, but for what you get (organic/vegan food) I feel they should be charging much less. Coming from people who travel the wolrd and seek out vegan restaurants...entrees shouldn't be more than $10 based on what you get. We ordered the nachos (underwhelming and something I could easily make at home) and the reuben and veggie burger. The veggie burger was ok and not full of much flavor. I have had better vegan ruebens and the cabbage slaw on the side had a funny flavor. This may be a better place to grab a smoothie dessert. read more

Went for a coffee and was supremely disappointed. I was promised a 'righteous' Columbian brew that was freshly made by the Hippie doofus guy. The result was weak, limpid and no better than cafeteria coffee. Kind Food sells the best vegan cupcakes and brownies you will ever eat. I've tried a lot of vegan baked goods at other stores as well as from my own kitchen and none of them can compare in terms of taste, texture and presentation. In fact Kind Food's desserts are so good that I am going to just come right out and say exactly what everyone who has tried their food is probably thinking... that they are a bunch of dirty, dirty liars... There is no way vegan desserts can taste that good. Nice try guys but I am on to you! I'm going to report you to the Vegan Police or Moby or whoever is in charge of prosecuting false claims of veganism because you are obviously putting some seriously tastey animal by-products in your food since that is the only logical explanation for the overall deliciousness. If by some odd chance your desserts are in actuality 100% vegan then you deserve some sort of culinary prize (and an additional star on my rating). In short folks, if you want some delicious cupcakes and for a suspiciously attractive family of restauranteurs to lie to you about how those cupcakes are vegan, I suggest that you head to Kind Food today. read more

I just visited Kindfood for the first time last week, but it is already one of my favourite restaurants in Burlington. I have a nut allergy, so I was nervous about eating there since they use cashews in some of their dishes, but the employees were very accommodating and made sure my dish was safe for me to eat. For my meal I got the Buddha Bowl, which consisted of brown rice, avocado, grilled sweet potatoes, tomato, sunflower seeds, cilantro, basil and tamari. I also added tofu for an extra charge. It was delicious! It looked like a small portion, but it was very satisfying. I had just enough room left to wander down the street to their bakery, Kelly's Bake Shoppe, for dessert! read more

I love love love this restaurant. They serve up some tasty scrambled tofu for breakfast. This place is perfect for breakfast lunch or dinner. The pricing might be a little expensive but still, quite fair. It's a cozy spot with friendly service, it's nice to have a meal that doesn't consist of any meat or animal product once in a while! Tried this place on a whim. Very small and limited seating, sort of a self serve environment. The food was great though. Got the goddess bowl and it was vibrant and full of flavour. Only complaint is that for the price, the portion is rather small. Left feeling just okay, not full but not hungry either. I am in love with the place! From the decor to the staff- who are so friendly and helpful and always willing to go out of their way to help you decide what you want.. to the the incredible food.. I am so happy I live in Burlington! I usually get their KIND burger and always hope they are not sold out when I come. Their cupcakes - which ever flavour you choose are to die for! Fresh, moist, flavourful and because they are natural they don't sit like rocks in your stomach. My fave baked good has to be their donuts.. I licked every finger clean. I took my husband there and told him to go with an open mind (I am vegetarian and he is not) and he said it was so good and really filling. It was so good we raced to the grocery store to get the ingredients to try and make it for ourselves at home We'll be coming back to KIND FOOD as they do it best! read more

I"ve been going to Kelly's Bake Shoppe for about a year, and my husband and I finally made time to go to Lettuce Love Cafe for lunch, yesterday. We both had the Happy Buddha Bowl (on a recommendation from a friend) and loved it. It doesn't seem like a lot of food for $13, but our hunger was quite satisfied and we knew we could feel good about what we ate; which is important, as we are making improvements to our health. DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! It is decorated gorgeously and has very friendly and helpful staff! The food was quite good and was reasonably expensive. It was kinda overwhelming and confusing when I first entered there, because I thought you just sat down and were served, as with all restaurants. But at this restaurant you go up to the counter, order, and pay. I visited the smoothie bar in April 2016, I found the smoothie to be tasty but EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for something that you could make at home for way less. 13$ for a smoothie of average size is outrageous. My friend got the smoothie bowl which was also 13$ and for that price you are better off buying a real meal rather than yogurt with a sprinkle of nuts and bananas and seeds. I honestly love the ideas but it's just not ideal to overcharge for something so simple and inexpensive as fruit and yogurt! Fantastic super friendly staff. The food is very good but pretty expensive which is what you get when you pay for organic vegan food so nothing shocking there. Portions are tiny so bring your wallet or something else to eat for after. I've tried almost everything on the menu and enjoyed all of it. Grilled cheese is probably my favorite but it's incredibly expensive for something I can make myself. I priced it out and for the price of one grilled cheese from here you can make over 30 sandwiches yourself from pretty much the exact same ingredients. My last visit my friend and I had the veggie burger. It looked amaziiiing but it was tasteless. Neither one of us enjoyed it. We live in Rochester, NY (over 2 hours away) and stumbled across this place by accident months ago while on our way to or from Toronto airport...I forget when/where. I am a pescatarian and my husband eats a variety of food still but we are health-conscious for the most part our diet is plant-based but not strict. We love healthy food and I do cook A LOT of healthy meals at home from scratch. This was our 4th visit here. We are both laughed at by my family as "food snobs". Meaning that we are not always easy to impress. (we both have restaurant/food backgrounds) All I can say is now any time we are going anywhere NEAR Burlington, this is our MUST STOP and eat here place. I never eat sandwiches as I find them too filling and unimpressive but their BLAT ("bacon", lettuce, avocado and tomato) is worth the drive alone. The slaw has a cumin dressing that is delicious as well. This place is not "cheap", so even though we order at the counter and only have water to drink, lunch can be $35 (Canadian) with a tip. But so far, the best vegan sandwich I've ever had. My husband gets their bowls and tries to steal some of my sandwich. Someone always comes around asking how things are despite it not being a full-service place. Nevin, the owner is always there when we are there and seems to be genuinely invested in his food, clients and business. Talked with us a length more than once. Love this place. I don't mind the long drive to the Toronto airport (3.5 hours roughly) if I can stop here for lunch!! read more

I love to support vegan businesses. This place has quite a few menu options, some I've really enjoyed. However, I think the prices are a little high for the portions. The Goddess bowl is amazing, but it ends up coming out to $16. Also, I visited on New Year's Day as the hours according to Instagram were 10-4. I showed up at around 3:20 and their grill was turned off, and my only options were smoothies and salad. If your hours are until 4, I understand the grill being turned off maybe at 3:50, but 40 minutes early? This has discouraged me from coming back for awhile. read more

As someone who has two major allergies (gluten and dairy) Kind Foods is a saviour. I find it hard to trust some places to make food for me as many people don't know what gluten is- at Kind Foods I trust the staff to ensure my food is safe for me! It is a great place to drop by and get a treat or two or a nice place to drop in for a meal. The atmosphere is very clean and organized with fast and friendly service. They have the best Pumpkin Spice muffins!! Also, their "BLAT" is sooo delicious, and definitely worth the $$. It might be a bit pricey, but I guess that's just because there really isn't a whole lot of competition right now...and the ingredients can get quite pricey. The staff are really friendly.. some of the comments comment on how they are a bit too "fake". I think sometimes it definitely feels a bit too pushy, but I guess I would much rather someone who is happy and remembers my name, then someone who is frowning and hates their job. Also, I think this is a family business, so obviously they are going to be a bit more outgoing and "pushy" than if the employees had no invested interest in how the restaurant was running. read more

Dined in once last summer. Excellent service, top notch in fact. Three of us dined, all ordered different things. Not one of us were impressed with the food. I ordered the tomato soup. It was the most bland soup I've ever tasted. I'm not exaggerating, I'd rather have eaten a tomato. We got the seasoned avocado. I was really surprised to not enjoy my meal here, as I love love love the bake shop but anyways. I ordered the power bowl, which must be popular because i think the next three people that came in ordered it as well. It had organic steamed quinoa, braised kale, grilled sweet potato, black beans, grilled portobello mushroom, avocado, brazil nut parmesan, drizzled with lemon tahini sauce, and I added tempeh. So the Brazil nut Parmesan was awesome. Probably the best part of the meal. The sweet potatoes were also really delicious. The mushrooms didn't taste very good or sit well and I actually started avoiding them (and I love mushrooms!). The tempeh was good, it had a nut coating and was quite delicious! The braised kale wasn't very tasty and I am a kale lover through and through - raw, in a shake, steamed, baked - whatever I love it. This one ... not so much. Also wasn't a fan of the lemon tahini. Maybe I just didn't choose right for myself, except I usually really like those ingredients. It was also insanely expensive. I paid $20 for that bowl. So normally I'd come back to a place and try again, but for that price, I'll go somewhere I know I like. Sorry lettuce love cafe :( just didn't do it for me. read more

WOW! This was a great find. I headed into Burlington last week to meet a (Vegan) friend for lunch, and happened across this amazing little cafe. It's a small place, and VERY friendly. It's almost too friendly, as I got a bit tired of the staff thanking me for coming in over and over during my meal... BUT I loved the genuine enthusiasm of the thanks, so I'm not too bothered by it. I had the Goddess Bowl: YUM! delish tofu and peanut sauce. It hit the spot and then some. The staff recommended the "not to miss" cupcakes, and boy were they right! A friend and I went here because we were constantly seeing mutual friends "check in" on Facebook and give rave reviews. We went for lunch and were thoroughly Unimpressed. The sign out front says "Good Food Ain't Cheap and Cheap Food Ain't Good". Well, now we know that this is basically saying "this place is a rip-off" $58 for 2 meals!!!!!! I got a buddha bowl, hermit cookie, water and a packaged pressed juice. My friend got a burger and a side salad. The payment machine prompts you for a tip...and then the employee tells us there is "self-serve water and cutlery to the left". Uhhhhh..."self-serve"?! After I spent $58 on lunch and you want a tip, I have to get my own cutlery?! I don't think so! I also saw people bringing in their dirty dishes from the patio, but my friend and I decided we need some service here for the price of the meal and expected tip we just paid for. Aside from the horrifying price, the food was just "meh". We were really disappointed and quite frankly should have just left and got a $8 salad anywhere else downtown Burlington. Overpriced and disappointing .i visited this establishment with my 2 children after a 3 hour bike ride. I ordered the super salad,but could hardly taste the balsamic vinaigrette, my daughter had the Nachos but at $16.00 I would give it a miss as it was not memorable and not worth it, my son had the breakfast special at $12.00, he did liked the tofu egg but hated the dried excuse of cold almost dehydrated hash brown. Not sure how old they were. To their defence the staff are courteous and friendly. i complained to the cashier who profusely apologized and offered to bring my son any other option on the menu. We left feeling hungry. So two stars for the staff. read more
