Chocolate layer cake was similar. Prices are lower in comparison. When asking about the posted menu, one of the employees told us that some prices posted were wrong, that they're slightly higher now. But when I paid, the prices seemed to be correct, with the 4% credit card fee. So maybe will have to see when paying cash? Stopped here after getting dinner at Bolivian Llama Party (yum), and were slightly disappointed in the price and quality of these desserts. The cheesecake had a really weird, nearly inedible, layer of hard caramel on the bottom - almost like plastic. The Oreo cheesecake was fine, but didn't have enough chocolate. The coffee was alright and the hot chocolate was probably the best pick. Maybe we just chose the wrong things, but we weren't very impressed! read more

I waited the absolute last minute to order a cake for my daughter's 18th birthday and Maison de Gateaux did not disappoint. I showed them an inspiration photo less than 2 weeks before the event, chose the flavors and prayed it was beautiful and delicious! I was able to pick up the cake at 9AM when they first opened the day after the holiday and crossed my fingers. The cake was beautiful. No... It was simply STUNNING. It captured the color that I wanted for the cake and the simplicity of the design of it. My daughter loved the cake. It was also delicious (we ordered the lemon cake and cannoli; bottom and top tier respectively). It was also budget friendly. I got the 8" and 10" which was more than enough for sharing. This was a find for me during the Taste of Sunnyside 2023 event - they were handing out samples of their magnificent custard napoleon that made want to come back for more. I stopped in after dinner nearby since they are open until 9. We got there at 8 and I ordered a napoleon - since I didn't specify I was given the more expensive berry one, but the custard one would have done the trick. I took that to go because my friend wanted to split a slice of cannoli cake. The cake slice was decent - cake was very soft and cream very cannoli. The Napoleon they make here is amazing - the flaky layers are great texture, the custard and the berries come together to make it crave worthy. The space is large, but the cafe in the side with the bakery taking up the corner portion. I was surprised to not find it packed with folks grabbing after dinner dessert because they have a great selection of reasonable prices cakes, cookies and pastries. read more

Honestly one of my favorite establishments in Sunnyside. Their triple chocolate mousse is such a crowd pleaser. We ordered this for our holiday parties and they were definitely the star dessert. Note: it's extremely hot so be careful before you take your first sip. Normally I would have ask for this temperature (extra hot in other places). I've not lived in the area long and discovered this location through a Yelp search. Opting to get myself a cake for my birthday instead of making one, I ordered a birthday cake here. There's a lot of selection and variety here so I asked about the best in chocolate cake. The clerk I spoke with recommended the chocolate mousse cake so I went with that. The price definitely wasn't the cheapest but the cake did last a long time at my house and was quite yummy as well as packed with care. I had to visit as there aren't many desserts or pastry shops in this area. I would always walk by and hope/ wait to hear when they would open. They finally had their soft opening today, and I was really impressed by the setup. How they were very friendly with their customer service. They have reasonable prices and even gave everyone samples of their cannolis and other desserts. I liked all the samples and how fast and efficient everything was as well. High expectations as i had walked by a few days ago while orking my car nearby. Today, i took my family and we bought a slice of what looked like black forest cake and a berry napoleon. I took it home and we had it tonight after dinner. Well let me tell you the dissatisfaction and disappointment was exponential, the slice of black forest cake, was just because of the name. No cherry flavor in the cake, the cake was very moist, did taste like chocolate but. Nothing else that could give you possible hint of the ingredients. The berry napoleon was full of cream but the weird part was that the cream had no taste and the very little fruit it had was so finely chopped that you caould barely taste it. I did see blueberries and a slice of strawberry but that was it. The layers of pastry and cream were thick but again, i could not tell it was a berry napoleon. $10, down the drain, trying to give local business an opportunity but it did not work out. On top of that, when i bought the cake and the piece of pastry, they asked me for a tip when i was paying for my desserts. Our friends were kind enough to bring us a slice of the dulce de leche cheesecake and a slice of the triple chocolate mousse. The dulce de leche topping was good, but the cheesecake itself was disappointing because it was neither creamy nor rich. It was very light and floury, with an odd aftertaste. The triple mousse cake was much better. I didn't love the ganache top layer or the cake itself, but the mousse was good and the cake was moist. There were 3 different types of mousse supposedly, but they all tasted very similar. read more

I regret not having a photo of the cake we purchased for a surprise birthday but WOW. It was a gorgeous caramel cake that came even bigger than we thought and at a very reasonable price. The frosting was a fresh and light cream and there was caramel between each layer. So delicious. Cake that could have fed 20 was completely gone end of the party, which is rare for birthday cake. I was happy when I saw that this ordinary-looking building was getting a revamp as a stylish, modern bakery. The staff is super friendly (they always help me get in and out with my stroller) and they have a wide variety of doughnuts, pastries, cheesecake, and cake. I absolutely love their mocha, with bits of rich chocolate swirling around. The drinks are maybe a little pricey but I think that's the going rate for bakeries these days. I was glad they open up a new bakery in sunnyside and decided to try it. The server was very nice and they have seating area to eat in the bakery. I tried the napoleon, rainbow cake, and banana pudding. The napoleon was fresh, the cream was more custard-like and not too sweet, the flakes still have a crunch to it unlike many places where it's usually soggy. The banana pudding was decent. The texture is much denser than what I'd like and I wish it has more nilla wafers and banana pieces in it. The rainbow cake is probably my least favorite because it tasted a bit too dense for me and has a lot of jam. I like my rainbow cake either fluffier or fudgier. I will definitely come back to try the regular cake slices and wouldn't mind getting some more napoleon. read more

Driving by several times on our way to Brooklyn we spotted this bakery and we were keen on giving it a try. My friend and I went over after work and ordered a berry napoleon and a Black Forest slice of cake as well a cup of coffee. Sadly the only good thing was the coffee. The counter person said the pastries were fresh straight from their kitchen to the display. It did not taste that way to us at all. The napoleons mille feuille was so soggy and the cream filling tasted old not sour but it tasted like the when things sit opened in a fridge full of other things and the smells seep into the other items and they taste like anything but what they should. That was the case with the black forest cake as well. Bottom line is I would not recommend this bakery at all. The displays are full and I didn't see the foot traffic to have a turn around of these items quickly enough to guarantee they are fresh. Womp womp read more
