Service was fast, amazing and the sweets were delicious! I had a variety of cupcakes, some cake slices and croissants. I'm more than happy with this establishment. I've used them for regular purchases and for Too Good to go. Each time they're equally fresh and tasty treats. Almond croissant was so good and the red velvet cake was as well. There was a PB&J cupcake that was so unique and delicious. I love it here and will continue to come back.

I asked when they made the berry napoleon, and they said the morning, so I got a slice. It was so crispy and good! I put in the fridge for a couple of hours after taking a few bites and noticed the crispiness got dampened even during that short time so I'd recommend eating as soon as you purchase. I also got the chocolate layer cake - it doesn't have a deep chocolate taste but not bad. I got a cheesecake slice too, and it's decent if you like lighter cheesecake but I prefer richer slices. Each was about $8 a slice.

First off, I guess welcome to Broadway! I came into this place last week a little hopeful that I would have a new dessert place but Boy was I wrong. I literally walked in and felt like I was in the twilight zone, the front display facing the street should have warned me. This place is a dead ringer for a Martha's Bakery 2. I mean everything about it screamed Martha's bakery. The setup, the desserts, the menu, the writing of the menu ... it made me sad! Hopefully since they're still new they can bring their own take on what a bakery should be like and revamp. I bought the flan for $9 to try them out. It was poorly packaged, the covering was plastic wrap and the caramel sauce cake out and made everything in the bag so sticky. It did have a good flavor though but for $9 the slice should have been bigger. I may or may not come back to this place. I guess we will see in the next couple of months since my eyebrow lady is around the corner.

Not really a fan of this bakery. While they have the standard cakes and desserts, the display cabinets made them look rather dull and a little unappetizing. Nevertheless, I thought I would give them a try with some chocolate cake and coffee. I was now definately not impressed. The bakery, which a former employee launched (of another well-known Astoria cafe and bakery) was not nearly as good as Martha's and had much less to offer except late-night desserts which I gess was a plus in a way With so many new and excellent bakeries opening in Astoria, especially along the Broadway stretch down to the East River, it is hard to see why many would come here except for a late-night bite. As for my cake, well, it was unmemorable, and I would give them a miss.

Carrot cake good, but the frosting wasn't good!

I came here with my sister and husband for some dessert and coffee after dinner. I wish I didn't! We had the banana pudding which tasting nothing like pudding! It was TERRIBLE! The next worst dessert was the banana bread pudding. The bananas were only on top and not through it. The texture was more like a flan without the caramel flavor. The chocolate cake was mediocre not bad, but not great either. The carrot cake was the best out of all 4 of the desserts. The carrot cake itself was very good and it had delicious raisins in the cake. The frosting on top wasn't good, and tasted like a bland cream frosting. It had no cream cheese flavor at all. The coffee was even terrible at this place! I can't see this bakery lasting long in Astoria with all the good dessert shops!

3.5 stars. This review is solely for their gelato. I've started noticing that there seems to be a lot of bakeries along Broadway between 29th and 35th Streets (Jhoanes, Omonia, Parisi, French Workshop just to name a few). And a new one just opened last weekend, Sherlyn's. Rumor has it that the owner was former head pastry chef of Martha's. I went on opening day and it was packed but the staff managed the lines well. The space isn't large but there is a small dinning area. The pastries all looked good but there was a lot to choose from. Prices are on the higher end, but that seems to be par for the course in NYC these days. Given the intense heat wave, I went straight for their gelato. They had about six flavors available, and I opted for Pistachio and Hazelnut ($7 for two scoops). The gelato was fine and hit the spot on that scorching day. It didn't have the intense nutty flavor that I was looking for but otherwise a solid satisfying choice. I'm looking forward to going back on a less hectic day to explore their full pastry lineup!

Sherlyn's Bakery never disappoints! We ordered an assortment of mini cupcakes for my girlfriend's birthday - everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was excellent; Sherlyn had everything ready on time and even included a few extra minis, which was such a sweet touch. Everyone at the party raved about them! This was my third time ordering from Sherlyn's (the first two were for family events), and each time has been consistently amazing. It's so rare to find a local bakery with great products, friendly service, and true pride in what they do. Couldn't recommend Sherlyn's more - a neighborhood favorite!

    Berry Napoleon - amazing!
    Kaitlin M.

Walked in on a cold day and enjoyed a hot coffee and an amazing slice of Berry Napoleon. Sherlyn's is a family business and I felt right at home from the first bite! I could eat berry napoleon every time but I heard the tres leches options are also very popular and I'll have to try that next time.

Best Momos around!…read more If the title doesn't tell you everything, this review will. I found out about this place months ago and it was finally time to give it a try. My spouse and I are always down to find good momos, and this being close by and Tibetan cuisine, it was definitely a must. Ambience: It seats a decent crowd. It has nice Tibetan artwork and you feel the warmth from the owners. It's cozy and it felt great. Service: Top notch. I don't say this lightly. The server sat us down and was just so joyful. Her smile and demeanor made you feel welcomed. Brought us water and asked the usual and offered to explain any dishes. Now we are onto the good -- might I say great -- part. THE FOOD. We didn't order momos on our first visit. Food: My wife got the Himalayan Rice set (chicken) and I got the Rildok. We also got the Shabhaley -- from the description I thought it was literal meat. The Shabhaley, to put it, looks like an empanada. It was far from it in the best possible way. The pastry was crisp but soft and the beef filling was divine! Seasoned with so much flavor and it was paired with a beautiful sauce. The Rildok was exquisite. In my opinion -- I even told one of the servers, whom I now know is one of the owners, that the flavor profile reminded me of a cheeseburger, and it's my favorite new dish. The Himalayan Rice set was awesome. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The tingmo (like a bread) was soft and delicious, paired well with the chicken. The dal reminded me of my own homeland's dal. We've now been back here multiple times. My goal is to try the entire menu. The vegetable khoty momo was surprisingly my favorite, and I'm someone who loves meat. I've now had all the flavors and preparations of the momos, and you can't go wrong! This place is a gem. Their quality of food is top notch, and their actual aunties are in the back making this with so much love. I want everyone to try it. The owner and his staff are amazing and welcoming. They remembered me from my second visit, and that speaks volumes. They're all down to earth and it shows. The passion they have for their food and their kindness shines through. Parking: Can be rough depending on time of day.

The momos took a while but the curry was out quickly. Both were so flavorful! The sauce that came with the kothey momo cut perfectly through the mild chicken filling. I cannot say I was expecting the food to be this damn good out of a seemingly random Mexican place…read morethat just happened to be near where we were. I hadn't seen Tacos Gobernador on any Mexican restaurant menu before. These are sinaloan-style tacos, stuffed with the fresh shrimp abundant in the region. This is the second time I'm saying this in the first four sentences, but these were amazing. First of all - they were huge! Way larger than normal tacos, these tortillas stretch across the plate. The outsides are perfectly crisped up - these are kind of a mix between a soft & hard shell taco, but incorporating the best of both worlds. The amount of oil used in the grilling is perfect. What really makes these though, is the fillings. The shrimp is unbelievable - first of all, its the largest shrimp I've ever seen inside a taco. I mentioned how large these tacos are, but the shrimp bursts out of the top like a xenomorph out of a chest; there's little containment to be had here. These shrimp are seasoned astoundingly, turning practically a dark red from the spices used. Oh yeah, and the juiciness is just perfect. They are so well cooked. The other outstanding part is the cheese. The Oaxacan cheese is special - it's some of the best cheese I've ever had on a taco. Hot, soft, and stretchy with a perfect level of melting, it adds a crazy amount of flavor to each bite. The other toppings are solid, but some more onions would've helped I think. Also, the dipping sauce used is around average, and unnecessary. This was kind of expensive for 3 tacos - coming in at $25 before tax and tip. It was a ton of food though. Overall, a new variation of taco I think I'm absolutely in love with. 9.25/10

It can be a little confusing to find since it's a stand inside the market, not a separate store front. They carry a pretty wide variety of Asian flavor-inspired breads, pastries, cakes and cookies, including buns and some more dessert-type items. I checked out Progreso for an event this past weekend and ended up buying a few items to go: - matcha marble sponge cake $4.49: was fluffy, light and moist, good flavor of matcha and a light schmear of whipped cream in the middle. Would get this again! - taro cream puff $6.50: this was taro paste (? not sure if that's fully accurate though it felt more consistency of soft whipped taro than a traditional pastry cream) with whipped cream on top sandwiched by what I believe was choux pastry with craquelin. I think maybe because the this was sitting chilled/refrigerated for a while the top craquelin layer wasn't quite crispy anymore, though it looked nice. Personally it was a bit too much regular whipped cream, would've preferred more of a taro pastry cream. - mango pudding with fresh mango $6.50 mango flavor in the pudding was light though it was a nice tease of flavor. The texture was on the firmer side for puddings. The mangos were a bit oxidized though tasted ok, maybe glaze them or do something to maintain the color? Since this is a pretty new spot hope they could make a few improvements and blow it out of the park! I appreciated the owners' enthusiasm for sharing about their shop.
