Believe it or not this quaint Inn used to be a dump. Since the new owners took it over they've done a fabulous job at remodeling making the entire grounds very special and appealing. Each room is uniquely styled with the idea that there really is a place away from home that feels just as cozy. It is a medium-priced inn featuring Spanish tile floors, modern tub baths, kitchenettes, color cable T.V. WiFi Internet connections are also available. All rooms are non-smoking but offer plush five-star linens and towels and shutters to match. This inn is only a few blocks to the beach and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Our recent stay here was an absolute treat, with thanks to Mark, who treated us with friendly professionalism and humor. This is a fun, cheerful and very clean place to stay with a convenient location and THE FINEST TOWELS we've ever had at a motel. (No, we didn't steal any) Room 5 was bright, well equipped and quiet, being away from the frontage road. Parking was a bit challenging but very manageable and convenient. Given the amenities, you can do light cooking and dining in your room and complementary coffee is provided via In-room brewer. The bed was comfortable, storage adequate but limited in the small bathroom with a large shower. The price was very fair for all this little gem offers and when we swapped notes with others (at a wedding) who stayed in the area, we clearly made the optimal choice by staying here. Suggest you do likewise. We hope to come stay again. read more

ONE WORD: AMAZING. This place was definitely compact as parking was tight on the front and back side of the building. I definitely found the place to be beautiful but simple. It looked like a fairytale when my lover and I stumbled upon this place! When we first checked in, the front desk representative was super nice and first took us to a tour around the room. Afterwards, the room had a nice comfy bed with a small but nice bathroom. Everything was clean, including the mini kitchen on the side. It even had pots on drawers; I was able to boil tap water and drink it cold after. Overall, my experience was amazing. I would come back again anytime. Only downside was that there was no water besides tap water. read more

Beautiful, family run inn with history and charm. The employees are friendly and accommodating in an honest way that makes you feel at home. Sitting in my room now after a long day of work, it feels very fresh and clean, delightfully sanitized. All of the windows were left open to bring in that I intoxicating sea air. I can think of too many recents stays at other venues within this price range that have left me feeling uneasy the majority of my stay, skin crawling with earplugs in to drown out the hellish noise from the room next door. Owners or management called and emailed several times to confirm our reservations bordering on the excessive but we assumed it was thoughtful. The room was quite clean and the internet access worked well. Bed and pillows were not to our liking but that is personal preference. Room and towels were all quite clean and tidy. No plug by the bathroom sink but there was one on opposite wall along with another mirror. First floor room means some noise from the upper floor. The price was not bad for the location and I pretty much got what I paid for. Parking was free and easy to access. Would probably stay here again if I brought my own pillow. read more

We recently got married and booked the entire courtyard for our friends from out of town to stay at. Todd and Mark went above and beyond throughout the entire booking process and getting everyone situated. All our friends could say was how nice the managers at the Inn were. It's a great location if you are visiting, it's right on the 101, close to a bunch of great restaurants/shops and also right next to two amazing beaches(that's why we chose it for our friends). Just what I expected.....quaint little motel. Beach bungalow style. Our room was upstairs. Clean and comfortable. Nothing fancy but very cute. The Coaster train is right across the street and goes by several times a day. The up side to that is that it doesn't run at night while you're sleeping. Very quiet at night here which is what we were looking for. Several awesome restaurants within walking distance!! If you're looking to stay somewhere where the tourists aren't, this is the place. This place is great. It's pretty awesome to have your own kitchenette and a small grocery store next door. The beach is a short walk up to Beacons where there is amazing sunsets, and beach access. You are walking distance from great fine dining and affordable restaurants, tap rooms, wine tasting bar, and some shopping. It's a quiet community too so no loud noises at night- very quiet. Leucadia Beach Inn-has some pretty chill people working for them. They offer genuine concern for your comfort and will help you with suggestions, solutions, and directions. Dismal and dirty motel. Leucadia Beach Inn had a bottom sheet that was covered in black streaks and the bathroom had a large black hair stuck on the wall. During the Covid-19 pandemic I would not recommend staying here. Actually at any time it wouldn't be advisable. The room was also small and dismal. My wife and I had to vacate our property for 4 days with the cats. I chose this place because of the great reviews, pet friendliness and it's proximity to my workplace.m. When I got there, I immediately loved it. The grounds are beautiful and relaxing. The rooms are set up like little studios with nice double pane windows and shutters. The kitchen is complete with a fridge, microwave, stovetop and all the essentials for making your own meals (pots, pans, cutlery, plates, cups etc) and an area to eat together. The wardrobe was perfect and the pocket door saved space. It didn't feel like a hotel room at all. Perfect for a home away from home. It's right next to a local market and walkable to endless local food/drink places. It was fun strolling around Leucadia! And of course, it is right near the beach! Will definitively stay here again! Some may find it helpful to know- it is located near the train and that parking is limited (as we had two cars) but there was no problem finding a spot right next to the place! read more

Loved this little inn. I always prefer to do business with locals/mom and pop style places and this fit the bill. Super cute rooms, the main space was lovely and it had just the right SoCal PCH vibe. The price was right too..99 dollars for a place like this next to the beach is pretty sweet. Great neighborhood too. Lots of great food/drinks. I'm not sure why I didn't write this sooner, but we stayed here last year (2016) for Labor Day weekend for a little mini-surf vacation. Our stay was wonderful! We were in Room 21 and our room was perfectly adorable! It had two queen beds a nice shower, kitchenette, and A/C. Our friends ditched us and got a campsite at San Elijo (I was so irritated), but later regretted it because it was HOT that weekend! The windows faced the back alley which was quiet for the most part. The hotel manager was a nice man. We arrived late and our keys were waiting for us. We walked over to the sake/sushi bar which was delicious and it was driving distance to a few of our favorite surf spots and an Uber ride away from town. They also allow dogs, but I didn't bring my fur baby with me that time. I would definitely stay here again! read more

Ok where do I start.... Sorta Positives. Close to the beach- but not super close like you wouldn't be walking every day with a handful of beach stuff. Cute character. The rooms have been somewhat remodeled but the thick doors and style of building makes you feel like you're not staying at a model 6 level hotel. It has a mini kitchenette- which we utilized-(More than most guests I imagined) Negatives. They give you a mini kitchenette but this is meant more for a road tripper who has brought a ton of stuff from home, not someone who has flown in. They give you the basic pots and pans, but no hotpad???? Seriously? We asked for one but then had none. Ok odd- how about a kitchen towel or some freaking paper towels? Giving someone soap to wash dishes is only helpful if we can dry them. Salt and pepper? Nope. Again that seems like a serious basic item they could have provided. The house keeping staff- they would not allow us to keep our bath towels- I wanted an extra one- one for my body one for my hair- but I was told no they could only give me a fresh one if I gave them one I already had. They did not clean our room the first day we were there and the next day when they did come clean the room the bed looked roughly made and we looked at each other and had to ask- did they clean our room? I asked for an extra pillow and blanket and it seemed like I was asking for a million dollars- you want what? Really? You're in the hospitality industry people. The room had no phone- that just seemed weird. The bed was just ok. Super soft. And there was one light over the kitchen and a very dim on on the nightstand for the whole room- other than the bathroom light. No blow dryer in the room. We had to ask for that too- which they did manage to muster up. read more

The inn itself was nice an had a small beach inn feel. The location is not walking distance from a nice beach to swim or lay out, just somewhat close to surfing areas. The managers and office staff are less than friendly. First impressions mean a lot. It was quiet mostly, but you can hear your neighbors and their every move if someone is staying upstairs. One day we dropped by to get ready to go to the beach after being out for brunch to find zero parking. When I approached the office about this concern I was told "Well one of the vehicles is mine and since I'm the manager I can park wherever I want." Wow. Really. Ok then maybe you should have your own assigned parking if you are so important bro. read more

You have to have a sense of humor, history and a fondness for "kitsch" in order to stay at this motel. The hotel is located off of old historic highway 101 just north of downtown Encinitas. Yes it's true, the floor is spanish tile, the matress was soft and well used. They do have a little kitchenette with a stove, but no pots and pans, just a few assorted dishes and glasses that don't match. The overhead lights gave the room a cold unhospitable feel so I avoided using these. They also have a fridge. No WiFi but I was able to hijack some WiFi signal from a neighboring inn. The TV itself was an old 19 incher with a DVD player that didn't work. The owner/manager of the place looks like he may be an aging hippie or surf bum. He is kind of quiet but he was polite to me. The tiny lobby has about 100 books that you can help yourself to if you want some reading. The rooms themselves were clean. No offensive odors or sights in my room. The Inn itself is made up of a dozen traditional 50's style motel rooms. There is a central parking area and a few knick knacks to make it appear a little homey. The clientelle were generally old beach bums or hot rodders with antique cars. The night I was here, there was a 1940's Mercury convertable and an old 60's Buick Station Wagon. I call them the ponytail, goatee and sleeveless T Shirt crowd. This is not a hotel where you can spend several days in and be waited on. It is strictly a place to sleep and relax in between shopping or going to the beach. Those used to Embassy Suite type settings will be sorely disappointed. But if you want something different with a sense of history..and maybe something you can laugh about at home, this place would be ideal. Although I enjoyed staying here, I can honestly say that one night of this place is plenty. You would have to have a hell of a sense of humor or history to stay several nights. read more

We can't wait to get back to this property! It was a great visit, comfortable, safe and clean. The managers are accessible and helpful, the grounds lovely and clean. We appreciated the tile floors and hose to deal with sand from the beach. I walked to the beach twice a day with ease. We brought our puppy and the management was very thoughtful about planning for his stay, too. Parking on site was easy, safe and free. Just Peachy, a market one minute north of the Inn, has fresh organic foods. Lazy Acres, a much larger market, is a 5-10 minute drive south. The room refrigerator worked perfectly, the linens were clean, and there were plenty of outlets. The only smallest negatives were the kitchen pots - I am picky about not using nonstick pans - and the water in the shower was tricky. However, the windows all open and I felt very safe in terms of Covid-19 transmission (ability to air out the room and mask-wearing by staff as well as excellent compliance with safety procedures on site). Truly, a great place to stay. read more

Just stayed here for six nights while vacationing in San Diego with our younger girls on a trip to Legoland which is just up the road. The weekend manager was awesome and very accommodating. The location is perfect, there are several beaches very close to the inn (I recommend the one just north of there, you can walk to it if you go behind the inn, walk up to the last street, then walk north until the street ends). The room was very clean and perfect for our family. It had a little kitchen with a stove, microwave, table, fridge, and television, which all came in very handy. There is a train track right on the other side of the street and the main local transportation train flies by several times, but it wasn't really too bothersome with the windows closed, it was actually pretty cool. There is a fresh produce and little grocery store just north of the inn, you can walk there in under a minute and it had a lot of good stuff for the kitchen. A lot of cool little restaurants up and down the Coastal Highway. We loved this cute little inn and will definitely stay there again next time!!! read more

We complained years ago via Yelp when they never called us back about renting a room for the weekend, so a couple of months ago I received an email from Jeffrey Arbour, the manager, offering us 2 nights for the price of one, because they had such terrible (non-existent, really) customer service. Well, I just called to follow up on the email I sent asking to use the discount and the woman I spoke with said the manager left a couple months ago. AND that since it is "peak season" she would not honor the discount he had offered to us. So Lame. read more

So contrary to reviews thus far for this "inn" someone did answer the phone when I called to block rooms for my wedding. Problem is that the gentleman that answered basically picked a fight with me... in a nutshell I inquired about rooms and he stated that there was no discount for multiple bookings because they have to do "extra work" for weddings. I of course responded "what do you mean you have to do extra work for weddings?" He went on to explain that wedding parties have been a problem in the past and didn't quite "comprehend" why I couldn't possibly understand that concept. As disconcerting as his tone was becoming (I did call him out on his rudeness several times during the conversation which apparently, for this "inn", the customer is certainly never right) I indicated that I appreciated that wedding parties could "in certain instances" be somewhat rowdy but it wasn't my intention to create problems 5 months before my wedding has even taken place. He just kept on going with "this isn't that kind of place" basically inferring that our guests were going to be running naked and disturbing the peace for all of Leucadia to hear (will be sure to tell my godmother to keep her cloths on during her stay)... I was pretty dumbfounded at this point and to add insult to injury he hung up the phone on me (just as I thought we might get past the attitude and block some rooms). My recommendation is that there are plenty of other places to stay inexpensively in this area. read more

Stayed 2 nights and really loved this little motel! Room was spacious, and included a kitchenette, complete with small fridge, microwave, stove and table. Free wifi which worked great. If I had a family I would definitely make use of the kitchen. I got there early about 1 and the nice lady told me not a problem and checked me in! Office closes at 5, so be on time to get your key. It's across from the railroad tracks so take earplugs cuz the Amtrak trains runs till about 10 pm. The area is great too. About a 15 minute walk to the beach. A famous taco place next door, Haggo's. My favorite place just a few blocks away was Solterra wine bar, which has happy hour daily from 3 to 5. I'd definitely stay at this motel again and again. read more

The bad reviews are out of date. Place has recently been restored beautifully if not authentically for a 1920s motel. No wifi in the rooms despite what Travelocity says, and price is a bit higher than some other motels. Then again, you're on the west side of the coast highway (walk to the beach), my room was the size of an average NYC studio apartment, and it even had a kitchenette. This place was very cute. It was easy to find. I parked on the street, but there is parking in a courtyard. The room was clean, colorful, and the kitchenette was awesome. I didn't think they would provide much, but there were cups, glasses, plates, baking dishes. Also, the beds were very comfortable, especially the pillows. I found this place because it was offering a deal, so for me it wasn't too pricey. And it's not like other hotels in the area. Each room seems to have different color themes. It's within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, a few bars, etc. I'd definitely come back. read more

The room was simple (no extra stuff) and clean. We travel with our dog, so we requested a dog friendly room. It had tile floors which is convenient if something happens (like dirty paws after a walk on the beach). There was a full kitchenette, too. We stayed here while on our first visit to San Diego. It was super clean and cute. They have a small fridge and kitchenette. To save a few bucks we cooked breakfast at the hotel and just ate dinner out. It's a short walk to the beach or if you prefer to drive that could be done as well. The neighborhood it's in is very nice good amount of parking. The staff is the office is very friendly if you need a child cot they have those as well for a small fee. We plan to visit San Diego soon and will definitely be staying here once more. read more

This is the most adorable hidden gem. They called ahead twice to confirm my arrival time in case it was after hours. When I walked in I assumed it would be a typical beach motel but I was shocked! The room was extremely clean and looked newly renovated. They give you a quaint kitchenette and the room is cozy. The room rates are unbelievable. SUCH a great place to stay! Little spanish style casitas with stone tile floors, full kitchen and baths, nice bed, WIFI, tv, windows... Very bright, comfortable, homey space. I loved it. My mom came to town for a week and we had to run up to LA for the birth of my niece's first baby in between our stay. They were so sweet they let us split the stay (a weekly rate) so that we would have the same room upon return. I was extremely grateful they made no huff about it! OR... ANY of it... We loved staying here! Granted, it was for a family vacation so no wifi, iron or hotel amenities needed, but for us it was perfect. And to be perfectly honest -- after spending TWO days at Legoland, coming back to this little spot in Leucadia was BEYOND welcome and needed. So charming, and the price and location can't be beat. (Walking distance to A Little Moore Coffee Shop, which had the best breakfast ever!) Our room was really clean and comfortable, and our towels were fluffy. Easy parking. The other people staying here were super nice. Best of all, the kids really loved it and were sad to leave. We were, too, but we'll definitely be back. And yes, like the other reviewers had mentioned -- there was a "Back in 5 Minutes" sign on the door when we got there. So do what we did and make the best of it and explore. Moonlight Beach is just a few blocks away. Like the laid-back vibe of the town -- just go with it. What else can you do, right? Enjoy! read more

We "discovered" Encinitas 10 years ago. Leucadia seemed to me like "old 50's, 60's coastal PCH California", learned there was a sign entering from the north which read something like "Keep Leucadia funky". Leucadia Beach Inn catches that feel, vibe, but not in some grungy way but cute, charming, colorful, 1920's nostalgia; imagine, a century old! From the tiny parking area just large enough fir six cars parked outside your room, curved Spanish terra cotta eave over each doorway, subtle rock at the exterior corners breaking up the white stucco, potted plants, patio chairs, lounges, tables; rooms actually large with full kitchenette, nice blue pastel walls, nice bedspread, large swing arm mounted flat screen TV, tile floors, dog friendly. Very clean. And then the incongruity, awakening to find a brand soaking' new $300,000 Lamborghini Hurrican parked in front of a room. Lots of fantastic eating in Encinitas. And dog lovers: Cardiff State Park with mile long narrow strand beach , bookended with bluffs at each end, with sun bathed limitless ocean looking west. read more

I drove my sister to Oceanside as gift for her 16th and this place looked so cute (also super good price)! I booked a room with one double bed and a kitchenette. We arrived and were thrilled with the aesthetic of the place! Super cute and intimate. The beach is walking distance of about 10 minutes and there are an assortment of different restaurants within a 30 minute walk. The beach is close in location, but due to the private residence along the coast, we had to walk down the neighborhood to get to a public beach. The room had shampoo and soap, but no conditioner or lotion. Also, the room had no phone or notepad/pen. The kitchenette was stocked with minimal essentials (a pot, a pan, 2 plates, 2 bowls, 2 mugs, and silverware) including a toaster, portable stove, coffee maker, Keurig, and dish soap/sponge.The reason for us giving this place a 3/5 was due to the insecurity we felt when we were in the room at night. We noticed almost immediately that there was no deadbolt or chain and the door was only secured by a lock with a key (we had one key, but God knows how many others there are that opened that particular lock). There was no way for us to lock ourselves in the room without anyone being able to get inside if they had a key. Overall, a cute place with a great price, but I would never go back again, due to the insecurity of the rooms. However, if deadbolts were added I would happily return! read more

Stayed here for 1 night as we were just in San Diego for one evening. The room was clean, the beds surprisingly very comfortable, and the motel overall very nice. It is not as close to the beach as it seems, as their are houses blocking immediate access. You have to walk about a mile or so around the houses, but it's not too bad. My 6 and 4 year old did it. Most will likely drive. Parking is very tight, but manageable. Air conditioner is wall unit and loud; but that doesn't bother us. Overall a nice, comfortable place. I hate to write a great review for this place because I might not be able to get a room next time I'm nearby. This place is great. Originally built in the 1920s it's like an old motor court but not. Everything is updated but still beachy. The kitchenette is adequate, bathroom small but everything you need. This place is close to everything on the coast.
