    One dozen donuts
    Josh D.

Great food and service!! We order here every trip to Leucadia. The donuts are always super fresh, delicious, and there's a fantastic variety every time we visit. Friendly staff makes it a go-to spot whenever we are in town!

I was excited to try this donut spot after reading so many glowing reviews, but unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. The service was friendly and efficient which I appreciated. However, $17 for a half dozen felt a bit steep, and I was expecting something truly special for that price. The donuts themselves were just okay. They had a slightly greasy aftertaste and the texture leaned more toward dry and bready rather than the moist, rich "eggy" style I prefer. I do respect that they stick to the classics, but the flavors and textures just didn't stand out as top-tier. I wanted to love them, but they fell a bit flat

Leucadia donuts honey buns for my donut cake!

Local donut shop in Leucadia. Fresh donuts, coffee, beverages and friendly husband and wife team. I always use their donuts when making donut cakes!! People at work love these masterpieces! Get here early, they sell out.

    Yaaaaaaas!

You could drive by this place 100 times and not notice it, but once you go in and have one of their donuts you'll never drive by it without thinking about it ever again. Limited parking, but if you want it, you'll find it. Incredible selection of every kind of donut From cake to glazed to cinnamon rolls and everything's fantastic. It's the one place. I'm really gonna miss when I leave. Run by a mom and pop who are there probably at 4 AM getting ready for a 6 AM opening and then close around noon when everything's gone. To me that's that's epic that's beachy. That's Leucadia!

Donut Series, Part 15 "I need a little sweetness in my life. Sugar, yes please!" Maroon 5 Why does it seem like sometimes your body craves something that only an infusion of sugar can satisfy? While I may not know why that happens, I can tell you that donuts sure seem like a great option when you find yourself in this predicament! The owners of "Leucadia Donut Shoppe" have been fulfilling these needs for North County San Diegans for more than 30 years. I heard that this husband and wife team put their kids through college one at a time, so I had to ask them if this local legend is accurate. The husband laughed, told me that it is true, but also confided that the donut gravy train wasn't entirely sufficient and needed to be supplemented by student loans. I was also curious about how the interior walls came to be covered by the photos of so many different patrons. He explained that initially they placed a few family pics on the wall and found that customers wanted to get in on the action themselves (which led to the bumper sticker contributions that now entirely cover their front windows). If you choose to visit while in search of a sugar fix, I think you'll find this to be one of the friendliest places to enjoy a donut. A little advice though: bring cash (that's all they accept) and get here as early as you can. While their advertised closing time is 1:00, on the day we visited most of the donuts had been claimed by 9:00 (and by 10:00 they were down to their last dozen). If you find yourself unable to finish everything, not to worry. Even the birds are friendly here and they'd be more than happy to assist you in finishing whatever you've ordered. And that's...Henry's Take. #sweetlife

Love an old school donut shop.
    Ania K.

Old school donuts just a block away from the beach. Came here just after 5am and you could smell the sugar from down the street. So many donuts to choose from! There were a few locals shooting the shit with the fun owners. I was still half asleep so took a few donuts for later so they could be enjoyed at the beach. I love yeast-raised donuts because they tend to be lighter. These donuts are on the more dense side and when I held one in my hand it felt like it weighed two pounds. I know most love more, bigger everything, and all that but I actually prefer my donuts to be lighter. Next time I think I'll stick to some donut holes. The shop is adorable, the owners are so much fun, and there's lots of sweet donuts to choose from.

Leucadia Donut Shoppe is one of the funky businesses at the soul of the city. The family owned small business resides in a tiny mason building with a huge mural on the west wall. This business is a treasure that is loved by the locals who flock here, cash in hand to purchase their freshly made daily bounty. Donut shoppes have been disappearing along the coast and Solana Beach donuts was replaced by a hipster cafe. The Encinitas Donuts location is now a hair salon, and it is sad to see them disappear. I seldom eat donuts, and I wish I liked them more so that I could send more love to this special business. My only request would be for Almond bear claws instead of apple ones.

8 donuts and a dozen donut holes. Priced individually- came to $23
    Cassie J.

Cash only & Donuts are priced individually. It's located right on the 101 and hard to miss. It's your regular donut shop (small inside) and they have the standard basics (glaze, sugar, chocolate, maple, sprinkle, old fashioned). The donuts are good - the glazed twists were the best (super light and fluffy). I went in not realizing they were priced individually. I asked for a dozen and picked like 9 and for the rest to be donut holes, and the total came to $30. So I took a few out and brought it down to $23. I don't think I've ever paid that much for 8 donuts and a dozen donut holes.

There's some construction going on in the area right now, but I was still able to find parking without too much trouble. The food also looked really good, though I only tried the drinks this time. There is ample seating and bathrooms for customers in the back. Overall, great coffee and I'd definitely come back to try more of their menu.

The one area they could improve is the service. The staff sometimes feel a bit rushed and not super helpful, especially if you're new or asking questions about their drinks. They don't always take the time to explain things. To be honest it's more like they just want to take your order and move on to the next customer. I'd give it a solid 4 out of 5. Great drinks and quality beans make it worth visiting, but the higher prices and inconsistent service keep it from being a regular favorite for me. If you love good coffee and don't mind paying a premium with okay service, it's still worth checking out.
