    Chocolate Chip Walnut Cookie (yum)
    Diana F.

Cute shop on Newbury St. and often busy. Limited spaces to stand or sit to enjoy cookies inside. Few spots outside. Service was good. Cookies are always good but a bit too sweet so definitely meant for sharing. I think if the sugar was decreased just a bit, these would be the best cookies in the world.

This place is amazing! We ordered through Uber Eats and the cookies still arrived warm. The chocolate chip cookie was honestly one of the best I've ever had -perfectly soft, gooey, and full of chocolate. The lemon cookie was also really good with a fresh bright flavor. Highly recommend!

I came here one night because I really wanted to try their new carrot cake cookie here. As there aren't many seats in the shop, it is mostly a grab-and-go place. Service is great as always. And, if you aren't familiar with Levain, they are known for their wonderful walnut and chocolate chip cookies--which we also got. Overall, I thought their carrot cake cookie itself was okay--it fell a bit short of what I expected when I compared it to a carrot cake. But! The cookie itself was good and you can always rely on Levain for a good cookie.

After watching a candlelight show in the area on a Friday night, my family and I decided to feed our sweet tooth. I was surprised they closed late (10 pm) since it is a bakery. The line was out the door, but we were out the door in about 5 minutes so it goes by quick. They have the cookies on display which helps put a picture to a flavor. We wanted to share a cookie since we were still full from dinner and the only flavor we could decide on was dark chocolate peanut butter chip (for the record, I wanted the carrot cake one). The color of the cookie was a rich dark brown with little chunks of caramel colored peanut butter chips. Even though they aren't warm, the outside is crispy and the inside is soft which makes them fantastic. The texture is almost like that of a chewy brownie + if ice cream were room temperature mixed - its hard to describe. All that to say it was delicious and I would definitely try other flavors. Each cookie is about $5-7 which is not too bad for a filling dessert item. They sell merchandise and on one of the walls they have a mural of the neighboring streets. Some people were eating inside but they also have chairs and tables outside.

I dream about these cookies. There is nothing like it. The chocolate chip and walnut are and will always be my favorite.

Seriously? Feels, looks, and tastes like a hockey puck.

I decided to pop into this Levain location on Newbury Street since over 3 years ago and they've improved and for the better. Cookies are big to justify the pricey prices but a nice treat once in a while. I might be asking for these cookies for my 30th birthday coming up. Thanks again!

Those chocolate chip cookies are the BOMB-DIGGITY! Small location on Newbury Street but so worth the time to pick up some last minute cookies for dessert. Smells heavenly. Respectfully Reviewed.

Place was super busy but line moved fast. Cookies come out hot and fresh, many different options.

Disclaimer! I love levain bakery!! Their cookies are SO good! It was a dream come true when they announced they were opening a spot in Boston because I could finally try a fresh one! I've had the frozen ones from Whole Foods and an ex had even sent me levain cookies in the mail once to try to win me back. Not necessary now that we have what, TWO locations in Boston?? Anyways, I went to this location as I do (I find the cookies to be a little fresher than the one in Seaport, although I've only been to that one once). I was interested in their summer collab with a local ice cream company, and in Boston's case this was JP Licks, which is well known in the area. I got the original cookie (delicious) with vanilla ice cream. You didn't have a choice on the flavor, which was honestly a bummer because I would've gotten chocolate. Oh well. It was still very delicious though. They got it to me fast, the line wasn't long when I got there, although it started to fill in as I was leaving. They didn't have their outdoor tables set up yet, so we couldn't really enjoy it outside, so we snuck onto their neighbors'- Ben and Jerry's- and ate there. I don't respect Ben and Jerry's so i was morally okay with it.

Levain is famous for their huge cookies hailing from NYC! I was visiting Boston when I stopped by and head to grab some cookies after my dinner nearby. The smell of all the cookies when you walk in is so welcoming and they have a good selection to choose from. I went for the oatmeal raisin and coconut caramel chocolate chip cookies and both of them were amazing! The cookies are easily shareable and are quite filling if you eat one by yourself. The oatmeal raising was my favorite of the two. Both were dense and filled to the brim with raisins and chocolate and coconut. They were crispy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside! Service was friendly and quick and I had my cookies as soon as I paid. If you are in the area and love cookies, you definitely have to stop by!

Came here 4 months ago. I said it was the best cookie I ever had. Visiting Boston again. Went back to have an afternoon espresso and a cookie. Today they had something called a Rocky Road cookie. Well holy you know what. Simply ridiculous. It's seasonal so get down there and try this out

Man I love Levain! Beautiful aesthetic and amazing location! The line was long, but it moved fast and the service was quick. I tried the Two Chip Chocolate Chip Cookie and Chocolate Chip Brioche. Both were 10/10 for me and I will be back for more. The cookie and the pastry were warm and soft but the Brioche was definitely the star of the show. They also have really cool merch but it was bit too expensive in my opinion. Lastly, the space inside the bakery is limited with standing room only but plenty of outdoor seating. Perfect for evenings in summer season!

Portuguese Egg Tart葡撻: The shop keeps the egg tarts in a warming box, which is very thoughtful. I've always preferred the cookie crust of old-fashioned Hongkongese egg tarts; they don't crumble or feel sticky in your throat. The custard filling looked a bit overbaked on the surface, but it was still smooth and creamy inside. The milk and egg flavors were qualified, and it was not too sweet. While not particularly amazing, it definitely deserved 4 stars, especially for a Cantonese person like me who hasn't had egg tarts in a long time. Hongkongese Egg Tart蛋撻: The crust is the same as the Portuguese egg tart, but the custard filling seems a bit more diluted, with a lighter milk flavor and a stronger egg flavor. People who aren't used to it might find it a bit eggy. I still prefer the former. Custard Bread奶黃包: Recommended by the owner, and it was definitely the best thing there! I ate it the next morning, but the bread was still soft, and the crust wasn't dry. The custard filling was generous, sweet, creamy, moist, and had a slightly grainy texture. Sausage Bread腸仔包: The seasoning was quite interesting, with a hint of wasabi (?). However, the sausage itself was just average, with a slightly starchy texture. Breads generally cost $2-4 each, and here four items were only $8+, enough to last me all day Important Reminder: Cash only for orders of $10 or less.

It was adequately busy but still had seats open. The lunch menu is very affordable! If you can, I'd highly recommend going for lunch instead of dinner. Service was really quick! Received my meal in like 5-7 mins after ordering. Fish was super fresh and I really liked the different textures in the Hoseki Don. I also added in negitoro. They gave me a big clump of it! The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

Although their names seem to have nothing to do with each other, they share paper bags and some products. Are they sister shops run by the same team? Egg Tart蛋撻: Since there was no insulated box, it was cold, which is a shame compared to Corner Cafe. The egg and milk aromas were masked, but there was a slight eggy smell. Portuguese Egg Tart葡撻: Although it was also cold, I preferred the baking. It had a thin crust, and the filling was still smooth and delicate, with a richer egg, milk, and sweet flavor. Butter Bun奶香包: The best product, but I forgot to take a picture... I unexpectedly encountered "Little Swell bread微波麵包," something that has disappeared in China for a long time. They've gotten expensive over the years (now it's about $4-5 for a bun) and the quality can be hit or miss. Some things are fantastic such as their milk bread loaves or taro buns.
