    "Party Jollof" Jollof Rice Plate
    Olivia A.

This place was very aesthetically pleasing with a beautiful interior, and the staff was very nice. However, when I asked about one of the menu items, the staff member said she didn't know, which was a little surprising. We ordered the jollof party plate and ogbono soup with pounded yam. The rice was a bit hard, but I really enjoyed the plantains. The soup just wasn't for me personally. Probably an acquired taste. The Nigerian beer selection was fun and I enjoyed the Star beer. The Nigerian Guiness had a nice taste. Overall, it was fun trying a new cuisine, but I probably wouldn't return, if I do it'll be to try out some other dishes.

This was my first visit to Levels and I can say it lives up to the hype! Firstly the decor is beautiful and almost transports you to a tropical place when you walk into the restaurant. The decor is setup for groups of 4-6 adults and definitely for good conversation. The lighting is absolutely stunning and feels very safari like or similar to a tropical hut type atmosphere. I love the decor and the ambiance. Music selection was also on point and not so loud that you can't hear the people you're dining with. They also have a small art gallery on the upper level which is super cool. I ordered the Lagos Island tea and it was so good I just kept ordering it. Be careful, it packs a smooth punch! For my entree I went with the Amayase stew and due to a shortage of white rice I was pleased to get jollof rice. Now if you don't enjoy spicy food this dish will be too much for you. I have eaten ghost peppers whole and thrived afterwards if that's an indication of the spice level. However, it's not just spicy, it's flavorful and spicy and I'm craving more amayase as I write this review. The jollof rice here is some of the best I've tasted by the way. Our waiter was so fun and engaging without doing too much. He knew how to draw everyone out who had never tried Nigerian cuisine and made solid recommendations. I can't wait to come back with my girlfriends and enjoy more of the menu and ambiance. I highly recommend you visit and let me know if you liked it!

Absolutely delicious food... I don't normally like coleslaw but this one was different. My plate was cleaned! Place has a cute vibe to it; there's an art expo upstairs to enjoy after dinner. Service was helpful to answer questions. I will be coming back here again and again.

Located at downtown next to City Museum, Levels Nigerian Cuisine offers delicious authentic African food. Street parking is plenty and paid lot across the street is available too. Food 9/10: Jloop rice with beef or chicken. Can't go wrong with it Service 0/10: The kitchen is so slow and there is almost no service. The wait time for our food is 2 hours, and our appetizer never shows up. Ambiance: 5/10. It's a nicely decorated place, though the hostess and kitchen can't handle food coming out in a timely manner. My recommendation is, get takeouts if you are craving for African food.

I'd been planning ALL week to have this meal on this day. I called my order in. Party Jollof with goat and spinach as my side. I added a side of cole slaw. I picked up my order and headed home. I get home ready to dig in. Unpack my dinner and my goat is missing. The large part of the tray was all jollof rice. I also noticed the rice wasn't hot. I moved it around thinking maybe the meat was underneath. NOPE I called to inform them and it was as if I was questioned on whether or not I was telling the truth. I said I'm headed back there. $35 for my meal AND now I have to drive back. First experience isn't going well and I haven't even touched the food yet. I arrive to the restaurant and inform the hostess my meal was missing meat. Again, questioned as if I'm telling the truth. Of course I'm not happy. Time and energy...over it. The hostess apologized. The waitress who checked me out appears with a container of meat and no apology. I head home to try to enjoy my meal. The food...OMG AMAZING. So FLAVORFUL. However, not too sure on how fresh the goat was. Also, there were more bones than meat. The cole slaw was a little sweet to my liking and had more dressing than slaw mix. Thankfully, I had some in my fridge and added to my slaw. PERFECT. The 3 stars are for customer service. Quality control and checks and balances. Gas is too high to have to drive back. I'd be willing to give another try...BUT if I do carry out I'll make sure to check my order before leaving.

My husband and I loved our experience at Levels. While the outside is rather unassuming, the inside is stunning and clean! We were greeted with waters and chin chin. Their chin chin was some of the best I've had, and my husband said it was among his top as well. We ordered the Suya and Asun, as well as the party jollof with goat. The food came out quickly and seriously, that suya is something special. I will be dreaming about it forever.... The asun had a great spice level and packed with flavor! We loved the smokey flavors in the party jollof. The goat meat was so sweet! We are so glad we stumbled across this place while visiting. The only problem is that we don't live closer... haha.

This was me and my husband's first visit to Levels. My first impression was in awe! The decor is beautiful. Gorgeous hanging lights and very colorful with greenery everywhere. This is a perfect place for a group or for an intimate dinner. We parked on a bank parking lot, but there is paid parking across the street. I ordered the Lagos long island tea and it was delicious! We were served chin chin, which tasted like a mixture of nuts. The service was remarkable. Our waitstaff was great, he took the time to answer our questions and he gave us recommendations on what to order and the level of spiciness. We ordered the Beef Suya, which is very delicious and tasty beef with an assortment of sauces, the beef was very tender. We also ordered the Goat meet pepper soup, which the first taste, we both went to water, afterwards the spiciness went down and the broth was delicious and the goat meat was tasty as well. Our main entree was the Tilapia Platter. This platter was a work of art and was more than enough for the two of us. We just stared at it for a minute before eating, the platter was filled with different colors of veggies along with the fish and slathered with the sauce on the fish. The fish is served whole and it was delicious and we savored every bite. I had never ate jollof rice, this was absolutely mouthwatering. I ordered jollof takeout. We were escorted upstairs to view the art collection and heard stories of the history from the collection, which was very interesting. We will return to try the Ayamase & White Rice (Nigerian Stew).

Impressed by the service, our waiter was very energetic and attentive. Enviornment is cozy and modern. Food was great! It was my first time trying Nigerian cuisine and Asun was my favorite! Perfect amount of spice and seasoning and goes well with white rice. Party Jollof was well-balanced with plantain, fried chicken, and sides of coleslaw or sauteed vegetables (I added extra order of side).

Finally made it to Levels on Washington Ave! I've been dying to try this spot & get a peek in the inside. Beautifully decorated. They have a seasonal cocktail menu along with their signature drinks. The menu packs a lot of punch with flavor. From the hostess to bartender to the waiter/waitresses, they were all very helpful!

I was very excited to finally try Levels downtown! I like the space and the homage to the owner's Nigeran heritage with art, music, and décor. The craft cocktails are really good including the Bigger than Bombay, and the holiday cocktail (Cozy Cocktails) J-Town. I ordered the Party Jollof that comes with jollof rice, plantains, and the option of beef (my choice), chicken, or goat for an upcharge. The jollof rice is SPICYYYY and SMOKEY (you'll need water if you're not a big spicy person), so be prepared for that! The service wasn't great, but luckily my company was!

Sabi girl cocktail...I swapped out the tequila for vodka
    Brittany M.

We made reservations for 5:00. We arrived and our table was ready, which is always nice. Our server was very nice and attentive. I love that she didn't mind accommodating me to swap out the Sabi girl cocktails liquor from tequila to vodka. She recommended the party Jollof entree so that is what I ordered. She usually gets it with goat meat, I was too scared to try it so I opted for the chicken. Everything had a good taste to it. This was my first time at a Nigerian Restaurant and definitely think everyone should try this place out.

We started with the beef sambosa, which had a nice kick of spice and paired perfectly with the dipping sauce. It was such a flavorful start to the meal. We also ordered the Meskerem Combo for two, and it was an incredible value with so many different dishes to try. My favorites were the minchet alecha, the miser alecha, and the doro wat, they paired so well together and were packed with flavor. Every item on the platter was delicious, making it such a fun way to experience Ethiopian cuisine. One of my favorite parts of the meal was how hands-on it was. Sharing everything made it such a fun dining experience, and I'd highly recommend coming with a group of friends or family so everyone can try a little bit of everything. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, the food came out quickly, and I even loved that they're dog-friendly. If you've never had Ethiopian food before, this is the perfect place to start. It definitely set a high standard, and I'll absolutely be back!

We got the vegetarian combo and my mom's favorite was the green beans and carrots. I also liked the dish with carrots, cabbage and potato as well (but everything it comes with is good). One of the dishes on the vegetarian platter we asked to be spicy but we found that it was very mildly spicy. My grandparents were new to the food and got a dish with medium spice and said that it was very spicy for them. It was the chicken tibs I believe. Next time we plan to try the gluten-free bread instead. My mother got it a separate time and said that it tastes the same or better and is a complete protein. We ordered the small coffee to share and it was enough for two of us to refill multiple times they also gave us milk to go with. If you like coffee, I would definitely recommend getting this as it comes on a platter with incense burning and was a very cool authentic experience. They have a coffee ceremony on Saturday from 1 to 5 that I hope to go to in the future. The best spot to sit at is by the window, either one, but the one not by the door is better. The video of the food is from a time we went a couple years ago as I forgot to get a video this time! We will be coming back!

We had not been there since having new ownership and hoped it had not changed in taste and quality. There was absolutely no need to be concerned...it was possibly even more delicious. Located in a strip mall next to a Fresh Thyme Market, Peri Peri has a pretty nondescript dining area. It is clean and comfortable, and perfectly fine for a counter service establishment. The owner took our order and went out of his way to help me select a "milder than mild" sauce. I am no longer able to tolerate very spicy foods which is a shame because the peri sauce is extremely flavorful. My husband always opts for the spiciest or nearly spiciest option and had his usual 1/4 dark chicken but chose flame-grilled corn on the cob, which was good but not the same as his usual rice. I decided to opt for the Falafel Rice with the lemon pepper sauce. I was not disappointed. The owner also provided us with a generous serving of hummus and pita on the house - a nice complement to the meal. I love that the food is prepared fresh and not sitting there waiting for me. It may take a bit of time but it is worth it. The new owner and staff are very friendly and happy to answer questions. The food is very good. If you haven't already, I highly recommend dropping in and giving them a try. I think your taste buds will thank you!
