This Tecumseh bakery occupies a small shop setback from the street sidewalk. You have to know where to look for it. Relying on the street number is highly recommended, as the exterior signage is small. But once inside...WOW...there is not one thing on the menu that could be more delicious. I have had everything except the large Bavarian-style pretzels, which are only offered on Saturday mornings. That is a "must do" for a Saturday visit. The staff is very pleasant and efficient. The pricing is excellent - a whole pie was $17. Oh, in the warmer months, they offer ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. The portions are HUGE and be warned, you had better eat quickly!! read more

Seems the quality is changing. Please bring back the old recipes and methods if you've changed them. Last five times they've just not been good. First it started with the fillings, not tasting the same and now the donuts themselves have kind of a weird taste to them. I don't know if they used to make them from scratch and now they're using mixes but something's different and I'm really worried they're not gonna be in business long if they don't go back to the way it was we love Levs please don't change it. This is my second trip to Lev's. I have a brother in Tecumseh and I like to show up with a doughnut when we get together and go hiking. Fantastic selection and delicious doughnuts. For many years I would give it 5 stars until recently the past 6-8 months. I've noticed less frosting on doughnuts to where you can see the top of the doughnut through the frosting if that makes sense and , drier doughnut not as fluffy and moist. Also the flavor has been lacking as well in the fritters and maple Frosting product. I know they have expanded to many different areas in the county like gas stations area based on a fb post I believe it was a few months back. My opinion is they are stretching there ingredients to compensate for these expansions and maybe cost but 1 doughnut is now 1.45 compared to I think about 1.25 from last year maybe. Either way cost don't bother me but lack of flavor does. Let's fix these issues levs. I don't eat junk food often and yes doughnuts are junk food because there's nithing healthy about them but when i do I expect goodness. 3 stars from me. Yes I will continue to go there maybe 1*a month is my average to support local stores but I will leave reviews if they don't fix. not harsh ones though Just honest ones read more

UPDATE 10/1219 WENT IN TO BUY PRETZELS as I do every time I visit the great town of Tecumseh Michigan. Just walked out of LEV'S. Staff still as UNPLEASANT AS EVER! GREAT PRODUCT ANGRY STAFF! SO SAD. Great Pretzels and Doughnuts. I stop here everytime I come to Tecumseh. Pretzels are world class. I have never known the staff to be plesant. I think they get mad if you don't pre-order. They always run out. You would think after 30 years of selling Pretzels they would be better prepared. I wonder how many 10's of thousands of dollars they have lost due to running out. I have been eating donuts and pretzels from Lev's Bakery for over 20 years. I am still a huge fan although I have moved away. I still try to stop by on Saturday for at least the pretzels every time I come back. he donuts are all personal preference. I happen to enjoy the custard.Some of the cookies are good. The prices here are very reasonable for what you get.My reason that they are not a 5 star place is because I really do wish they were a little nicer/friendlier. I was so happy to find a yummy bakery nearby. The cookies and pretzels were delicious, so I decided to order a half sheet birthday cake. The decorating was something any home cook could have done, and the batter was baked in a shallow tin pan. All that wouldn't have mattered if it just tasted good - but it was so dry you literally coughed while eating it. Just awful! The frosting was just okay, not a rich buttercream like I was expecting. I hate numerous donuts stuffed into a bag which all end up tasting the same and smeared with each others icing. also tried the hamburger buns which were light and "white bread" tasty- would have preferred no trans fats in the buns, but awfully good. Decent bakery. The staff is fairly rude, almost a self entitled "what do you want" attitude. They also only take cash or check. Ridiculous. Very unfriendly and for that reason I will not go back. I'm not willing to give my money to a business who has no people skills. Here's what I love about Lev's: the people are always so sweet, the Donuts tasty, and now...the german pretzel. I've been to Lev's when staying at my sister's many times, never made it in for the pretzels. This past Saturday, we got there at 9:29am, and the line was out the door. We exited through the kitchen, which they allow, where smiling bakers were working like Santa's elves to keep donuts and pretzels a-goin. Rumor has it every Saturday is like this. This was my first experience with the whole pretzel thing, and I believe it. I even spotted a pretzel put aside by a baker with a bottle of spicy brown next to it. Guess he wanted to make sure he had his :) Donuts are great, fresh, and there is a variety to choose from. Every time I've taken my nephew or any other tiny in there, they give a cookie to them. I took my two kids to Tecumseh for a scheduled event. We ended up finding the downtown area/main street and since the kids were hungry we stopped by the bakery for some food. I really love this bakery. We ordered a glazed donut and three "gourmet" cookies. Why there were gourmet I have no idea, but they were delicious! More than anything, it is a cute little bakery with very friendly staff and very, very reasonable prices. I can't dispute that their treats are second to none, however their service has always been lacking. I have been buying their doughnuts and amazing pretzels for over 15 years. Almost every person I have ever had wait on me has been grumpy and act as though I am putting them out. Absolutely THE BEST. I was fortunate enough to grow up with Lev's and have very fond memories of its donuts, pretzels, and cookies. My friends and I actually used to skip school for a bit and go here. (It was okay, because we were always sure to bring donuts back for our teachers - flawless.) There were rumors that it was going to close a few years back, and there was pure hysteria. Every once in a while, I'll run into someone in another state who has heard of Tecumseh, and they will often say, "They have the best bakery there!" There's only one. Get out of here Krispy Kreme - I won't even touch that crap. It's a disgrace to Lev's - Lev's maple Long's John's and glazed donuts own my heart. Yes, you do have to get there very early in the morning before they run out - that's just a testament to how amazing they are, not something to complain about.
