I really been wanting to try this restaurant. The building is beautiful in and out. Three stories of decorative walls and stairs . We settled on an outdoor patio seating and the views were awesome. Weather was great as well . Waitress was very friendly and understood the menu. We ordered spicy chicken potatoes skins with jalapeño. It sounds better than it taste . Stopped by on a Sunday night for dinner. Nice and quaint restaurant. Had the creole burger blackened with blue cheese. Was a great burger and the blue cheese tasted great and fresh. Recommend the side of beans and rice, but is a little spicy (if you have sensitivity to spicy food). Wife had the sandwich and salad. She said she loved the salad and especially the house dressing. I believe it's three floors and each floor looks different, has different seating and atmosphere to a degree and even outdoor seating (which we picked) to over look the River. Had lunch at Lewis & Clark with my son after not having been there in quite a while. I was glad we chose to eat lunch there. We requested a seat on the top out door deck. Luckily for us it was available. We enjoyed a nice peaceful and relaxing lunch on their deck. Our waitress Lindsey was great. She was friendly and courteous. She provided good customer service. The food was also delicious and well presented. My son ordered chicken tenders and fries. He got a generous serving of both. He said it was delicious and the tenders were crispy and a filling. I ordered their turkey chili. It was creamy and delicious served with a side of oyster crackers and a side of sour cream. We will definitely go back for lunch another time. read more

We visited Lewis and Clark's for dinner during our stay in Saint Charles of Halloween week October 2024. While beef entrees were fresh, quality and cooked to order, the vast majority of our meal was, overall, good yet average. American fare standards such as baked potatoes were precooked and warmed, served with commercial, sealed portion cups of butter and sour cream. Veggies were steamed, overcooked. Salads were, similarly, prepared ahead of time and chilled until served. Staff were unbelievably welcoming, warm and caring! Beautiful location with lovely interiors and -- seating on porches and decks -- the only establishment with second and third story views of street. My daughter and I went here for a lunch while on Main St. The main appeal was the outdoor dining decks. They are gorgeous and have a nice view and it was a very nice day. Note that you do walk up 2 flights of stairs to get there which we didn't mind. They had a daily special of french onion soup which I had to try - it was very good! My daughter ordered chicken alfredo and it came with a salad and bread. I tried it as well as it was a large dish. The alfredo was not impressive... definitely not what we would consider restaurant quality. The salad was basic. As for the food one thought rice was dry, one said their chicken was superb, one devoured their burger, I thought my Alfredo was a little bland, 2 loved their caesar salads, and toasted ravioli was top notch. Bartender guy is a pro and nothing was too much to ask of him. Our group of 8 were taken to the 3rd floor where the ambiance is just the best! Our reservation was honored without hesitation. No flavor at its best. I have never had this bland of food since I was a little kid getting over the flu. The steamed vegetables were dry and seasoned lacking. The shrimp was ok but the scampi sauce or should I say juice was watered down. I think a 12 year old could make a better meal. Tv dinners do the same as this meal. I got the fish tacos from here and I was pretty disappointed. Instead of having a whole piece of grilled fish sitting inside, it was ripped up into tiny small pieces. I felt like I was mostly just eating crispy little parts from the outside instead of the actual fish itself. They came with 2, which was ok because they were a pretty big size. I will say my family liked their meals (burger & fries and blackened chicken wrap), but they like almost anything. I recommended asking to sit outside. Their patio is on top of the building, so there is a good view. Their menu is pretty big too, but it mostly consists of basic American food like sandwiches, burgers, and wraps. We went here on a busy day before Christmas. I love that we gave them our cell, and were able to walk around while we waited for our table. The hostess and waitress were quick and friendly. The food was average, not the best, but not bad. I had their lunch special, a blacken pork chop sandwich with red beans and rice. It was spicy, but good. My oldest had chicken fingers but he said there was too much breading on them. The youngest said the Mac and cheese was good. This was our first visit to Lewis and Clark's in historic downtown St. Charles, Missouri. The restaurant is large with 3 floors and serves American cuisine of steak, seafood and burgers. We went early, without a reservation, and was lucky they had an available table for 4 on the 3rd floor outdoor balcony. It was exactly where we wanted to sit and enjoy dining outdoors. The stairs were challenging for me but the rest of our group was fine. The restaurant is cozy with lovely brick throughout, warm woods with a fun, canoe hanging between the first and second floors. The ambiance was wonderful with lots of history around Lewis and Clark in the area. The menu was diverse from amazing appetizers, salads, steaks, seafood, burgers, wraps and many sandwiches. Our group started with the amazing Spinach and Artichoke Dip served with chili con queso, salsa, flour tortillas and chips. I loved this and found the chili con queso and salsa with flour and corn dippers a nice touch with the Spinach Artichoke Dip. I don't remember a better Spinach and Artichoke Dip. Our second appetizer was the meat filled Ravioli served with a nice red sauce. My husband doesn't eat cheese so this was a perfect appetizer for him. The Gumbo was good made with a thicker, creamy consistency but I still prefer the traditional version. Our entrees consisted of the Prime Rib, Peppered Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Salmon and Chicken Teriyaki. Each are served with two sides from a nice selection of sides dishes. Everyone loved their dinners and the only issue was my Chicken was extremely dry and tough. I should have sent it back but decided against. But as I said, everyone else's dinners were delicious and perfectly prepared. Our server was amazing, friendly and attentive with a great personality and sense of humor. We recently ate at Lewis and Clark. We were sat at a great table, there was a musician playing guitar and it was a beautiful day! Secondly, I wanted to mention the outstanding host. This young man works harder than anyone there. He's attentive, courteous, aware of the customers and most of all was a leader on the floor. I rarely do this, but I spoke to him on the way out and let him know. I also gave him a nice tip. Deservedly so. The food was adequate. They ran out of sweet potato fries. It was only 2:00 pm. They also ran out of one of their highlighted beverages. Finally, the waitress was mediocre at best. Late in the order, didn't come back by to refresh beverages. Maybe a bad day, however, as I said before, the host was phenomenal. He'll own that place someday. read more

Two to-go orders in a row wrong. That's cool, I understand, it happens. The same bartender took both orders and got them wrong (pretty simple order, too). I call in my next to-go order (same bartender) and when I go in to pick up I checked it this time. Wrong again! I politely bring it to the bartender's attention. (I always tip 20% on to go orders) He gets very sarcastic, irate, and rude with me. He makes me wait several minutes for what should have been a quick fix to my order. Then, he tosses it at me with more sarcasm. Lewis & Clark's is a good place but this bartender should not be representing them. He screwed up my order now 3 consecutive times. (And I tipped 20% every time.) His behavior was very erratic this last time - draw your own conclusions. This is one bad employee - otherwise great place. read more

I'll be honest, I haven't been to L&C in years. I just don't go to Main Street often. But it was the perfect spot for my group to get dinner after we made candles next door. The staff was really friendly. Everyone seemed so young or maybe I'm just getting old, but they were doing a great job. Even when they had to KINDLY kick us out because they needed our space for another large group's reservation, and maybe we had been there two hours--it made me laugh. Move along ladies! I had the nightly special, a bacon wrapped filet topped with crab and a béarnaise sauce with mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. My steak was cooked perfectly. My taters would have been better hot, but they had good flavor. They have a good creamy Caesar dressing. And I appreciated the hot roll! Add a glass of wine and you have yourself and great meal on a cold night. We had the spicy chicken potato skins as our appetizer, and they were expensive but very worth it. For my meal, I had their pick two sandwich and soup: the eggplant stack sandwich (cucumber, spinach, tomato with fried eggplant pieces in place of the bread, and a pesto ranch dipping sauce, which was phenomenal) and their soup of the day, a French onion. The sandwich was pretty good, but that French onion soup was truly to die for. I'd go back again and again just for that. Came in with a large group (about 16) and the service was outstanding! I had a Tito's Peach Lemonade that was amaaaaazing and then tried a Whiskey Fritter that was WAY good too! And there's so many more I want to try!!! Hubby ordered the Fish Tacos and they were just perfect: the fish wasn't fried, but grilled and the jalapeno cheese was SO flavorful. I had the Grilled Glazed Salmon sandwich and it was pretty good too (but the last couple of bites where I stole some of hubby's leftover jalapeno cheese were even BETTAH).
