We stopped by without a reservation and had such a wonderful experience! Masha was absolutely amazing, so warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. She was able to find us a spot outside which ended up being perfect because it was such a beautiful day and the scenery was gorgeous. We decided to enjoy a glass of wine rather than do a full tasting and it was refreshing, delicious, and perfect for the afternoon. What really made the visit stand out though was Masha. She made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we arrived and went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. I'm so glad we stopped in and would absolutely return. This is a difficult review to write because we've been longtime members and huge fans of Lewis Wines. We don't live near Napa, so whenever we visit, Lewis is always one of the stops we look forward to most. This time, we even brought friends who are fellow wine lovers and were excited to share one of our favorite wineries with them. Unfortunately, the experience left us disappointed and, honestly, just embarrassed. When we were seated, I mentioned that I wasn't particularly interested in the whites. Our host explained that since he already poured the whites he couldn't pour more, but said he would make an exception and give us one additional pour. While we appreciated the gesture, the way it was communicated made it feel like we were asking for something unreasonable. Later, when one of our guests asked for an additional pour of a wine they were considering purchasing, the host immediately and rather rudely said no, emphasizing that he had "already" given us an extra pour. We've had this same host from a previous visit, and unfortunately, the experience felt very similar. The interaction was incredibly off-putting, especially given that our guests had just paid more than $80 for their tastings. We visited several other highly regarded wineries throughout the weekend, and Lewis was the only place where we encountered this kind of rigid, unwelcoming approach to hospitality. At this level of winery and price point, we expect the tasting experience to feel welcoming and generous- not transactional or as though every small pour is being closely monitored. The bright spot, as always, was another host, Julian. He is always warm, welcoming, and consistently goes out of his way to make guests feel taken care of. He's an absolute rockstar and a big part of why we've continued to enjoy coming back. He was able to help us toward the end of our visit and ring us up for the wines we wanted to purchase. read more

One of the top 3 wine tasting experiences I've had. Lewis Cellars' service is phenomenal, the property is stunning and intimate, and the wines (particularly the 2023 Merlot reserve) were all delicious. Our first time at Lewis was at a Yelp Elite event and we were fortunate enough to come back for a second tasting (with friends this time). I really appreciated that they didn't treat us any differently even though it wasn't a fancy, private event this second time around. Our first glass came with an absolutely scrumptious and beautiful little amuse-bouche: burrata in a beet shell, surrounded by fresh tomatoes and strawberries. Jairo was so knowledgeable, patient, and cordial. He answered all of our questions and his passion for wine was very evident. Love to see and meet people who genuinely love their jobs. Julian also took care of us, and had great energy; it was so fun talking with him and he even remembered us from the Yelp event months prior. From the moment I walked into Lewis Cellars, I was intrigued. The art, textures, colors, florals, furniture, architecture are all so unique and intentionally designed. Fiance and I did the Legacy Tasting and were started off with Sauvignon blanc. After we were seated, we had a welcome canapés, then tasted two Chardonnay's side by side. I liked the personal touch with their welcome note inside their pamphlet. We then went to a Cabernet Sauvignon and red blend. We enjoyed everything on the menu but when we heard they had a small batch 100% merlot, we knew we wanted it. They weren't pouring the merlot but we decided to blind buy anyway, which ended up being a great decision. The views are gorgeous and all the staff are friendly and attentive. Also, I love an aesthetic bathroom! The ladies room was so well decorated. Highly recommend Lewis Cellars! read more

It is disappointing that I have to change my original 5-star review to a 1-star. My initial experiences with Lewis Cellars were exceptional, which makes this situation even more frustrating. I first experienced Lewis Cellars through a Yelp Elite event and had such a wonderful visit that I left a 5-star review. I was later invited back for another experience, and once again, the wine, hospitality, and atmosphere were amazing. The invitation came during my birthday month, and I was genuinely grateful to be welcomed back. Because of those experiences, I decided to join the wine club. After signing up, I realized I had not received all of the information regarding the membership benefits, costs, and expectations. Once I received clarification, I determined that the membership was not financially feasible for me and immediately reached out to request cancellation. Unfortunately, this is where my experience changed. The Concierge/Lead, informed me that she needed approval from her supervisor before processing my cancellation and stated she would follow up with me the following Monday. Monday came and went with no response. I sent three follow-up emails requesting an update regarding my cancellation and received no reply. After receiving no response, I called the winery the following Saturday. I explained that I was following up on my cancellation request. I was told the Lead was at lunch and the supervisor was unavailable. During the conversation, I was informed that the winery prefers members to remain in the club for two shipments before canceling. I explained that I should not be required to pay for a membership I no longer wanted and requested that my cancellation be processed immediately. This expectation of remaining for two shipments was not communicated to me during the signup process, nor was it included in the information I received regarding the membership. During the conversation, the employee chuckled while I was expressing my concerns. When I questioned the response, I was told I was "getting loud" and "belittling" her. I was sitting in a beauty salon and having a calm conversation. I was advocating for myself after multiple unanswered emails and feeling that my request was not being handled with urgency. The employee also asked why I wanted to cancel. I explained that she was not the supervisor or the person I had been communicating with, so I did not feel the need to repeat my personal reasons. I let her know that the information was already included in my emails if she wanted to review them. After being placed on hold for an extended period, I was told the Lead had returned but was now in another meeting. The wine and tasting experiences deserve five stars. Unfortunately, the customer service after joining the membership does not. My concern was never about not being able to afford the membership. My concern was that my cancellation request was not handled with communication, transparency, or respect. I felt ignored, pressured, and dismissed. I truly wanted to continue supporting Lewis Cellars, but this experience changed my perspective. I hope management reviews how membership concerns and cancellation requests are handled because customers deserve the same level of care after signing up as they receive during their first visit. read more

I had discovered Lewis Cellars had been ranked one of the top 100 wineries. I was so excited by their proximity that I invited a friend of mine to a tasting over the holiday weekend. She was delighted because she knew some staff at the winery but had not tasted the wines. You have to make reservations and we were lucky to find a time. Definitely call ahead. We were greeted graciously at the front entrance and led to our reserved table. Walking through the foyer, into the hallway to the tasting area, I was struck once again. The foyer was a cool clean space decorated with bottles of wine, carefully preserved awards and distinctions. Flower arrangements were massive enough to have gravitas. The luminous hallway with the soaring vaulted ceiling richly encrusted with layer after layer of ornamentation punctuated by paintings which hypnotically capture your eye, is clearly a labor of love. It would be a worthy addition to a cathedral. The original paintings were photographically detailed but with fantastical elements that no photograph could capture. The tasting room furniture was upholstered with unique and dense patterns; stylized leopards, birds of paradise abound. The impact of this riot of details was deep, distinct and unexpectedly harmonious. It is a glorious example of French traditional decor. I have been in museums which were less impressive. But you can't count Versailles ; that's just not fair. At our seating area, which commanded an expansive view of both the luxurious tasting room and stylishly comfortable outdoor seating, It is a wonderful place to appreciate life not just wines I was pleasantly surprised by the personalized menu. Clearly, Lewis Cellar's attention to detail extends beyond interior decorating. We had signed up for the Legacy tasting which is a flight of 2 whites and 2 reds paired with delicious delicate canapés created by the Michelin star chef Rachel Haggstrom. Masha Roman presented the wines and the paired canapés with exquisite precision and intense focus. She was simply outstanding, even among some of the Michelin star restaurants that I have enjoyed. Chardonnay Napa Valley 2023 Chardonnay Russian River Valley 2023 The two Chardonnay's differ only in the terroir. Each had undergone equal craftsmanship. The differences were surprisingly distinct. This is the first time I have been able to discern the difference due to terrior. There were flavors both delicate and bold. You don't need training or deep experience to taste the difference. It is obvious. I was especially startled by the Russian river Chardonnay. At a previous tasting, this one had been so intense that it felt like the palate was being hammered by very precise hits of flavor. It was very hard to drink. This time it was smooth, the flavors melting together harmoniously. I was puzzled until I suddenly realize these were two different years. The second tasting was a glimpse into the future of the first. Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022 The Big Blend Napa Valley 2022 The Cabernet Sauvignon from 2022 has been rated 92 points from the wine enthusiast. 92 represents a rating of excellent. Given this rating, these wines are surprisingly affordable. I ended up liking the big blend. It seemed to be the more friendly and approachable wine for consumption in the near future. The Cabernet could easily withstand several years of aging. I thought it was very dense and I think aging would help the flavors bloom. The Lewis Cellar wines are all big, bold, intense, carefully crafted, highly structured wines. They are also elegantly well balanced with no one element like the butter or oak stealing all the attention. Normally, I would not use language like this to describe a white but the whites here deserve equal respect with the reds. I had attended a previous tasting with a flight of six. Since the pours are so generous, I was rather glad to opt for the flight of four. Previously, the flight of six was simply too much. The palate ended up overwhelmed, and I could no longer discern the individuality of each wine. This is a terrible shame to have missed the impact of the last two reds. If Lewis Cellars has a signature, it would be all of the wines have their own identity, each lovingly crafted to bring them to their peak potential. read more

Amazing service from start to finish, and Travis, who took care of us, made the experience especially memorable. We didn't have reservations, but the staff still managed to accommodate us. While waiting for our table, we started with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was a lovely way to begin the experience. We requested a table with a nice view--and they absolutely delivered. The setting overlooks the beautiful Napa landscape, making the whole tasting feel even more special. I opted for the Legacy Tasting, which included two Chardonnays, one Cabernet Sauvignon, and a red blend. To pair with the white wines, they served a small goat cheese bite, which complemented the Chardonnays perfectly. I enjoyed both, but the 2023 Napa Valley Chardonnay was my favorite--beautifully balanced and very enjoyable. The 2023 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon was also a standout. The Big Blend, however, leaned a bit too heavy on the tannins for my taste. When I mentioned this, Travis graciously offered me a glass of their 2023 Full Circle Red instead, which I appreciated and enjoyed much more. That level of attentiveness really elevated the experience. Travis also helped me arrange to have several bottles shipped home, and the shipping fee was very reasonable at $20. Overall, between the exceptional service, thoughtful wine pairings, and the stunning Napa views, it made for a wonderful tasting experience. read more

If you're looking for an unforgettable experience this is your place. Let's start off with the decor. The art pieces are custom displaying the different grapes they utilize to make their delicious wines. There is very cute furnishings along with wall art inside which is very aesthetically pleasing. They even have outdoor seating with an amazing view. If you can't decide between sitting inside or outside they have an amazing panoramic patio door overlooking the view. Moving onto the services. I've been to a lot of wine tasting and this place definitely had THE BEST experience here because of the service. Eric and James helped us and did an amazing job. James was very knowledgeable about the different wines and what it pairs well with. Let's get into the wine tasting experience. James had asked our typical tasting palate and then gave us tasting around our preferences and wow it was amazing. In addition, James paired our first red with a small appetizer and wow. There is an option for wine and food pairing, I will be definitely doing that experience next time to get the full experience. Wow! What an experience! We visited their new tasting room/winery on the Silverado Trail and were blown away. They just opened in this new location in the last month and it is BREATHTAKING! Loved the Chardonnay but love love the Vin Gris, yes it's sold out but they had 2 bottles left. He opened one to see if I'd like it and of course I did. Lewis Cellars - Private tasting - Wine Tasting Room Near Me - Napa, California

We arrived at Lewis Cellars on our last day for our last tasting. We were greeted outside and served a taste of their Sav. Blanc while we waited for the tasting to begin. There was a total of six of us for the tasting (two other couples and us). Unfortunately, while waiting outside, it turned into a very pretentious conversation between the other couples (us remaining silent). Basically, it was a "oh, we have a reservation for the French Laundry tomorrow, do you?!" and "Well, their Pinot is only $200 a bottle." etc. While, I would love to go to French Laundry and some Noirs at that price point are great...why are we having a pissing contest right now? Anyways, that's how the tasting started and it put us in a weird mood. The tasting did not include a tour or anything (which is fine), but included a history of Randy Lewis and his family - basically, he was a race car driver. Onto the tasting, we tasted a few of their wines - Reserve Chardonnay, Alec's Blend, Merlot, and Reserve Cabernet. The tasting did not include their well reviewed "normal" Cabernet. My notes for all of their wines indicate a ton of oak...on everything. The Chardonnay, very oaky...buttered popcorn. Alec's Blend, overpowered oak. Merlot, too much oak. Etc. - you get my point. I enjoy oak when it's used to balance and enhance wine flavors. Unfortunately, it can be used to cover up crappy wine. I'm not saying they did that...just too much oak that it's not balanced. I do not think that I finished any of my tasting pours. The tour ended sharply (awkwardly) when one of the couples leaving for another tasting and the host almost shooing us out. He indicated that he wasn't trying to rush us, but the damage/awkwardness was already there. We left without purchasing any wines (I do not think the other couples purchased anything either) The tastings are $65/person, which I think are expensive. They did not indicate that the fees would be refunded with a purchase - but we were so rushed out that I didn't ask (and honestly, the wine wasn't that great, but still "free" wine is still wine). We will not go to Lewis Cellars again. Our 2017 Napa/Sonoma trip included Hamel Family Wines, Viader, Schramsberg, Neyers, and Lewis Cellars. My wife and I visited Lewis Cellars on a getaway trip. Lewis' Guest Relations Director David Gibson made us feel like we were family and shared the fascinating family history of this winery. We have been fond of this boutique winery for years. We learned about wine barrels, terroir, yeast, sulfates, tannins, block selection and management and reserve vintage designation methods. We appreciate this winery even more now after learning about their skilled mix of science and art and tasting their expertly crafted wines. Highly recommend. read more

If you're looking to taste some of the best cabs Napa has to offer then Lewis Cellars is the place. On our tour David spoke to us about the history of the wine and was very knowledgeable about wine. We both gained a better appreciation of there wine making process and were comfortable asking questions regarding their wine. The whole experience lasted about 2 hours. He was even nice enough to give us a behind the scene experience. He showed us where the wine was stored and we had a chance to talk with Arturo their Cellar Master. He also spoke about there wine making process. We learned so much on this tour about wine and had a better understanding of wine Lewis Cellars has to offer.
