My friend and I reserved the Porch Tasting and it was exactly what we needed. We were given a welcome wine upon arrival and then seated on the porch with a view overlooking the vineyard. We were given four wines for tasting with our little charcuterie plate. The charcuterie camera has three different types of cheeses, little slices of salami, dried fruit, and almonds. Each item complimented the red wines that we had nicely. At the end of the tasting, we were given a dessert wine. Super duper sweet. lol As we were trying the wines, they were being poured and we were given info about the wines. We saw the staff sticking around to talk to different tasters on the porch. However, my friend and I were there for a long catch up session on life so they kindly recognized that and said they'd give us space to chat (but ofc they were always willing to answer questions or engage if we wanted to). We had such a good time at Stags' Leap! It's easy to find, just don't get it mixed up with Stag's Leap Cellars. My husband and I are both old world wine fans, and this was a really nice marriage of old world characteristics with Napa influences. Our tour guide was really great and knowledgeable about the property in the wines. As we walked around the house and property, we got to try different wines that told a story about the spot we were in. Once we were done with the walking part of the tour, we sat down at the dining room table and tried three more wines. They also included a small charcuterie plate in the tour guide helped us pair the cheese properly. This was such a fun experience that blended history and wine education at a beautiful historic home. I had the pleasure of experiencing the Porch Tasting at Stags' Leap yesterday, hosted by Sol, who shared so much about the history, wine, and culture of the estate. This winery is located along the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, and what stood out to me most was the stunning cobblestone building that looks like a European castle it truly feels like you've been transported somewhere outside of California. Hand up, ‍, I mistakenly booked my reservation at Stags' Leap instead of Stag's Leap. However, the tour and story at this place was very good. Our tour guide was super knowledgeable and showed us a very good time on the tour and tasting. It's a cool story on how the estate has changed hands and modified to allow for service. The grounds are gorgeous, the house is immaculate, and we did have a good time. The wine....eh, not my cup of tea. Most of the wines were reminiscent of those full bodied over-powering, tannin-rich reds that Napa is known for - but I'm personally looking for more nuanced wines when I can find them. Our party of 4 visited stags' for the tasting and tour and had a lovely time overall. The estate is gorgeous, has a historic feel. It really feels like a step back in time and you can tell the grounds are well cared for. The wines were excellent, and the tasting itself was delicious! They do give you a lot of wine to try so be careful lol! We got to try a great variety and everything was well explained. It did feel a bit more commercial than i expected. Our wine guide was knowledgeable but it felt very rehearsed which made the tour feel a bit impersonal at times. Madi was our wine expert and she was the best! She was super knowledgeable about the history and wines at Stags' Leap. All of their wines were so good and our friend we went with actually signed up for the wine club membership because they were so good. We already booked our next tasting/tour because it was that great. Reservations are required unless you're a member (still recommended). The ambiance for the porch tasting was gorgeous, they had big open windows that looked out over the entire property. The only "con" is parking is a little tricky. Excellent your and tasting experience! I came here on a Sunday afternoon (New years eve). They don't do too many tastings/tours per day so definitely book early. That being said, I called last minute to join two friends and they were able to squeeze me in! I did the estate tour & tasting. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable- both about Stags' Leap and Napa in general- and friendly. Stags' leap is a beautiful estate with some cool history so I'd highly recommend the tour. The wines were all excellent! And while you might only see 5 wines listed, we actually ended up trying 8 in total! Our guide brought a few others out for us to compare. I ended up spending a bit more than I planned and got a pricy wine that I absolutely loved- early present for a celebration this year! Would recommend to others! read more

We meant to go the other Stag's Leap and learned about the difference in the apostrophe. Even so, the tasting was outside Ina beautiful porch overlooking a vineyard. They gave us a small charcuterie, which we appreciated. I thought the tasting was good, however they lost me when they asked for a gratuity. We've been coming to the Valley for almost 15 years and this is not a welcome change. It prompted me to look up the etiquette surrounding tastings and I still don't know what is correct. Stags' leap is a bit off of Silverado trail, but we'll work the drive. The venue is a historic house with some amazing history. Beautiful tasting rooms and views of the grounds. I learned so much about this historic winery and mansion, toured the home and 1920's speakeasy in the secret basement. The outdoors was simply beautiful and the wine tasting was perfect! We came to Stags Leap this past weekend for the manor tour and tasting. We really enjoyed hearing the history between the manor home and the battle of the apostrophes! Our host, Marcelo, was very informative and friendly! We really enjoyed all of the wines that were poured during the tasting. We liked the Cabernet that was $140 the most. We had a great group on our tour who were all so friendly and we talked for about 30 minutes or so while tasting the last 3 wines. She took us on a tour through the manse with a glass of rose, and then we tried the Malbec, twelve falls, coombsville and Rutherford cabs, then the leap and na cede malis petite sirah, then the two dessert wines! 10/10 experience! Def recommend making a reservation and doing a tasting in the porch with Christian. We started off with a Chardonnay ("porch pounder") and then proceeded to try a Merlot and a Red Blend. Finally, we made our way to the Cabernets (their specialty) and closed it out a Petite Sirah. Each wine was paired perfectly with different bites from the board! We closed out the tasting with a brief tour of the grounds, inclusive of the speakeasy downstairs and "jail." The history of this property was also super interesting, dating back to Corus, Chase and Minnie Meissner days & prohibition. A recommended winery for my friends and I to visit on our annual Napa Valley trip every November. Red Fridays was a day for us to add Stags' Leap to our list and heard this place was known for their Cabernet Sauvignon. Love a good Cabernet after a nice hearty savory meal. Our tasting started at 11am and our host took great care of us and was very knowledgeable on all of our bottle tastings. We had the 2017 and 2018 Cabernets from Stags' and it was tart, a good dry, and some buttery tanins included. As we kept going from one bottle to the next, the quality of the wine elevated. I was most excited for their signature Audencia wines as this is what this place is known for. My most favorite of all had to be the 2019 Stags' with the Malbec. This was more my style with a bit of spice and velvety touch to it. The Audencia came to be my second favorite and for those who enjoy a hearty tart type of wine. The winery scenery too was lovely and do make sure to take a trip to the second floor to enjoy some of the traditional settings. A winery with so much history and will be enjoyable as you listen in on the tales while sipping on your glasses. read more

Not sure why I'm giving them two stars but I'm a nice guy. I will say the host the day we were there for a tasting for 2 was not. We had an appointment for 2 tasters and two spouses who weren't tasting. When the host found out two of us weren't tasting we were invited to wait outside (and not in a polite tone). We were sitting in a nice cozy lobby with a fireplace that was basically empty but it was clear that she didn't want us in there. We were dressed fine and I thought we classed up the place. This was pretty insulting imo. The winery was not that busy but they did have a full tasting and tour set up for 12. No water offered nuthin! This was on a Wednesday afternoon and the rude woman was a 40 something dark haired women. She needs to get some training or the alternative (canned). Not a classy woman that's for sure. To add insult to injury the tasting took over 2 hours!Literally sat outside in a non tasting area of the patio on a breezy and coolish day. In retrospect I probably should have addressed the issue that day but I figure I would put the full weight of my elite yelper status to work!!! My counterpart and I were expecting a little more moral support than our spouses buying a couple bottles of $150 wine and tipping them!!! Next we discovered we didn't even visit the better of the two Staggs Leaps. This one is the lesser version of the two and is basically the red headed stepchild of the Staggs valley. You want to go to the higher rated "Stagg's Leap" off the main road not this dirty old house that needs a good dusting. The wine tasters out there mention that Napa can be a bit snootie compared to the other wine regions in CA and in this case they were right! Go to the proper Stagg's Leap or even better go to Heitz and skip this place and their rude host. We were there on a Wednesday in May in for a 3:00 tasting. Won't be back but will hit the real Stagg's Leap on our next visit. This place has been living off the reputation of the award winning "Stagg's Leap". You know if you have the apostrophe after the word you are the wannabe winery. Ouch! Sorry...not sorry! read more

You can see a nice and historical house. The wine pours are generous and you can taste plenty of wine throughout the tour. The wine for me was good to decent. Nothing blew me away and I didn't buy anything even though I had in mind purchasing 2 bottles. They give you tastings of $200 bottle wine. I just didn't find anything I liked enough to buy. We wanted to visit this winery since we really enjoyed their cabernet. It was so smooth, fruity, and bold. We made reservations 1-2 months ago for the $85 Manor tour and tasting. We had a 1pm Friday reservation. The tour was 90 mins and we got to tour around the Manor, outside, speakeasy room. It was informative and interesting. When we arrived, they poured a tasting of the viognier. That was good. During the tour, we had 2 more wines. The sauvignon blanc was just ok and the Malbec was really tannic. The tasting included a cheese plate at the end of the tour where we sat down to taste 3 red wines. They were all bold, but were so tannic and not smooth. The Petite syrah was a bit better, but not by much. We were so disappointed. The wines were too young. The cheese didn't help the tannins either. The cheeses were good though (Bellavitano with Merlot, Aged Gouda Beemster, Fiscallini white cheddar white, cracker, and dried cherries). Our tour group was a tough crowd. Noone really spoke much. The tour guide probably knew we all didn't like the wines because she didn't come back after to ask if we wanted to take any wines home. We did tell her that we think the red wines were too tanic for us. There's outdoor seatings too, but I think the tour is only indoors. read more

Very disappointed with the service here. My husband (who is a nondrinker) and I attended several wineries over the weekend. This was the only one who charged (once we arrived) an additional full price payment for my husband. They said if he was to sit in the car they would not charge, but if he was on the property we were to pay the full $95 for him. Since we had already driven there and could not reschedule with another winery we stayed. Separately, out of all of the tastings only 1 (IMO) was worth purchasing. Although given the situation, there was no way we would have spent another $ there. read more

It was a nice way to unwind from Sunday's wine tasting from Rutherford to St. Helena to our final destination Stags Leap District.
