The burgers here are so good and they almost always have at least a couple of great beers on tap. The service varies from indifferent to good, which is fine--we go for the food. But a warning if you're looking for a place to have food and conversation: lately, even though we always go during what used to be relatively quiet family hours (around 5 on Friday or Saturday), the restaurant side is super crowded, with people standing several deep around the bar yelling at each other and the TVs. We've actually walked in and walked back out because the wall of sound that greeted us at the door was unbearable. The other night three of us decided to stick it out because we wanted those burgers, but we had to scream our orders to the server as she bent over our table to hear, and then we waited and ate silently because it was far too loud for conversation. The drunks constantly bumping into my chair weren't exactly a bonus, either. Good that they're getting all that business, but I sure hope they start doing takeout. read more

For the town watering hole, Lewis' is a gem. They have great food cheap, but nothing fancy in the service department. Order at the bar, and they'll bring your food to the table. Their chef is very creative; everything I ordered was delicious! I haven't tried Lewis' hamburger special with egg salad, but it's just a matter of time! "Great Burgers, Drinks, and Much More!" When we are in the Norwood area this is our go to spot for Lunch & Drinks! From what we hear, Lewis's is pretty much a Norwood staple. We were told that it has been around since the 40s and it features some Awesome, affordable food options alongside some great cold drinks. Whether you want to grab a cold one and a snack or try one of their famous burgers or lunch specials, there's something here for everyone. One thing that does help them stand apart from other bars though is their OVC cocktail: an orange vodka collins which features some freshly squeeze OJ. It's amazing, they squeeze the oranges right at the bar can't be any fresher than that! They have a very extensive menu of your typical bar food. I usually get the chicken finger basket with tater tots, or the pastrami and tots which is always great. They make good mixed drinks and you have to order at least one OVC while you are there. My friend ordered the fish & Chips substute with tater tots, huge piece of fish cooked perfect, Wow. There is another side to the restaurant and bar where you can sit with a family and enjoy a good meal and catch sports on the large tv's. The bar is good and they have an area for private parties or to just hang out on the couches and chairs. They have live music in this part as well. Maybe it's because we are from NC but the food and beer prices here were much higher than I expected. We were in town for work and decided to try a good dive bar. Thankfully someone told us we had to order at the bar. We ordered the brunch burger and BCD. The BCD was terrrrible. The only redeeming factor was that it was spicy. There were about 4 chunks of meat in that dip and that was it. The rest was just a sloppy mess. The burger was excellent (thus the 3 stars). This is yet another reason not to be excited about Norwood, Massachusetts. Lewis's in two words is quite simply 'not the best thing since sliced bread'. If you want to go to an OK bar with OK prices and an OK mix of a crowd, Lewis's IS OK for that. But please, don't bother traveling all the way to Norwood for the so called famous Lewis Burger. This is a major let down. The Lewis Burger in theory is awesome, it's a burger topped with egg and bacon - yeah should be the best but it just fails to deliver. I went there for Sunday afternoon football last weekend and the place was so not abuzz or in a good mood or even paying attention to the games, what a waste of gas. I finally made it to Lewis' the other night. Yes, the entrance door is a bit shady, but was very happy with my experience there. My nephew got the chicken tender basket & I got a wrap with their onion strings. Let me tell you, the best onion rings we have ever had. My waitress was a sweetheart as well. To quote Tool, this place is the way, the truth, and the light. I go about once a week to Lewis'. The food is consistently good. I recommend the OJ and Vodka, and the wings. My wife and I went in last week and the food was great as always. But wow the service was so bad! She was so upset that I could not talk her out of not going back to eat here again. It had taken me a week to write this review to make sure I write it correctly. It took our server to get to our table 15 minutes. Let me back up and say we went in a Thursday at 5 PM. After 20 mins are order was taken it took 15 minutes to get our beverages and another 15 for our order to get taken. After our drinks came we had no silverware and we started to see a few other tables get bread. While our server was at the bar talking to some regulars. We were in the mood for a really good burger. We wanted a new place to try. I had heard good things about this place, so decided to give it a try. We ate in the more family-friendly dining room. There was a huge multi-generational party going on in the center of the room. It was busy and we waited about 15 minutes for a table. We started off with a basket of onion rings. The "basket" was huge, for about $5. They were thin and crispy, just the way I like them. I ordered a burger with caramelized onions, Swiss cheese and mayo. My guy got the Lewis burger, substituting Swiss cheese for American cheese. The brioche bun was fresh and delicious. The burger was thick and perfectly cooked to medium, as we requested. I got the au gratin potatoes. They were good. We really liked just about everything about this place and will definitely return when we want a REALLY good burger. One more thing we noticed, my guy ordered a 20 oz. Yeungling and it only cost $3.75. He was pleasantly surprised. Our whole bill was about $38 and we were stuffed when we left. Score! read more

I work near Lewis's and have been going there for lunch for years. Initially I found it because of a "dining for miles" promotion, which they've since abandoned, yet I continue to be a patron. I always sit at the back bar, which seems to be where all the locals and regulars congregate. It is dark enough that on bright days you're blind when you enter, until your pupils have time to adjust. As many have said, the lewis burger is a must-try. It's a funny sounding mix, but it tastes great. The steak tips are another solid choice, and they have good burgers, pizza, and sandwiches. Lately they have had a stuffed quahog special which is delicious! The bartenders are always very friendly, and still welcome you back with open arms after you've had one too many on your last visit. (don't ask me how I know this..) The fresh squeezed orange juice and movies at lunch are a nice touch, too. If you're in the area, give it a try. I went here for the first time this past weekend with my husband and sat on the restaurant side. I was really impressed! We ordered buffalo tenders and tater tots for an appetizer and it would have been enough food for a whole meal for us both. Any place in New England with tater tots is automatically a leg up in my book as tots seem to be really hard to come by around here. We had ordered dinner entrees - my husband got the pepperoni pizza and I got the lamb burger special. My burger was amazing - one of the only places I have actually had a burger cooked the way I asked for it since moving out to the suburbs. Worst service ordered out was told to pick up on the bar side. Stood there for 5-10 minutes as people working there completely ignored us. Finally grabbed someone to help us and says oh you have to go to the other bar. Same crap service, the manager looks right at me and turns and walks away to stock shelves finally got someone's attention. This is a true Lewis's story - at least I choose to believe it. A guy hadn't been in to Lewis's for about 7 years. He goes in one night and sits at the bar. After he orders a beer, an old guy he recognizes from the "old days" comes out of the Men's Room and sits down beside him. The old dude lights up a smoke, looks over at him, and says "So like I was sayin,' " and starts talking. Old dude recognized him and though that he had been there all along. Now That's a regular. My friend and I decided to visit Lewis' last night, for a pre St Patrick's day night out. I haven't been there in a long time, so I felt we were in for a treat. We had to wait for a table, not too long, enough time for us to get a drink at the bar during the wait. We ended up at a table near the host stand, and were thoroughly entertained by the lovely hostess during most of the visit. Our waitress, Eileen, however, was absolutely disrespectful our entire visit. She barely stopped by our table, and when she was there, she would only stop for a second or two, and then wouldn't come back for at least a half an hour each time. When our separate bills were brought to us, she had overcharged me for my drink, as the bartender had charged me a different price for the same drink. When I decided to ask about it, she declared that the bartender had "undercharged" me, and she turned to my friend and told her that she had undercharged my friend for her wine. She demanded I tell her which bartender served us, and she took my check back to her POS system to discuss further with her coworkers. She then came back to our table and gave me my check back, let me know that she adjusted the cost, but that "in the future I have to pay what I am charged", and turned and said the same to my friend, who wasn't even asking about her check. She ran our cards, brought back our checks and just turned and walked away. We could see her in the back pointing at us and talking to the other waitresses and the hostess about us, very disheartening! We won't be returning, probably ever! Our food was great, and the hostess was very sweet, and the waitress could have salvaged our bad time out had she thought about what she was going to say to us, instead of having a horrendous attitude. read more
