Seriously surprised me! I've been past this place a bunch and frequent the Mediterranean grocer next door; Never gave it a second thought. Food was on point. Wings flavor list was awesome (maple sriracha!? Yes please). Having a lot of dietary restrictions here was a complete breeze. Didn't even have to pay for a side salad, it was just an option, and the bunless burger was a regular on the menu! Portions are generous. The best part was getting the bill. Less than $25 for two for dinner, with leftovers. We will be back for sure! read more

This place is legendary! And for good reason. If you're looking for good food and a great drink, look no further. You always get a "good pour" at the bar, and a good meal from the kitchen. This review is in reference to the bar side of the business as I've never been to the restaurant side. I'm not sure how this place has so many great reviews because last night I went in to this place for the first time and was met with the most belligerent, hostile, and almost threatening "service" I've ever seen in my life. It reminded me of movies depicting restaurants and bars refusing to serve blacks in the 50's and 60's. The younger guy behind the counter essentially told our group that he didn't need us to be there. The Lewis burger is the best burger in town! That with the wings/fries and a tall cold beer to wash it down! Although they have a restaurant in the back, I prefer the bar in the front. That's how I remember it years ago! Although I don't like the Keno inside, this place stands in its own as a local establishment. Lewis' is the best place in Norwood IMO. I go to both sides depending upon my 'company' - when I am with my kids - we def eat on the new side but I have a good time on the divey side with my husband and friends. Their OVC DRINK IS A SPECIALTY and delicious, but don't have more then 2 if you expect to walk out of there(very strong). Staff is friendly, but service can be slow when busy. My husband and I visited Lewis' last Saturday. We aren't familiar with the area so we just looked on Yelp and since it has good reviews we checked it out. We sat in the bar area at a table. When I sat down the woman next to us explained that it's kind of a "townie" bar. I would agree. It's a pretty laid back place that looks like it has lots of locals. Excellent place. Great bartenders (Fred & Tina) and pub crowd was welcoming to us out-of-towers. I had the corned beef Ruben which was awesome.! My friend really like his pork belly tacos (I would never order that, but he loved it!) Not a huge place, but that was part of the appeal. Local corner bar feel to it, with a nice menu selection. Great surprise. Surprisingly delicious food, quality reasonably priced drinks in a classic neighborhood bar room setting. The OVC is a Vodka Collins Screwdriver made with delicious fresh squeezed oj. Townies, townies, and more townies. My high school reunion was held here. I'm pretty sure it's because most of the people that I graduated with are there every night anyway. If you're a fellow Mustang and you're happy with having forgotten about those a-holes that roamed the hallways of NHS, avoid this place at all costs. This place is a dump, a dive, a joint, a Mecca for drunks and gambling addicts. When we went in the front door I immediately recognized the odor of cheap disinfectant and day-old barf, where someone had upchucked near the front door. To the right were decent looking tables but that room was dark, apparently not open. Going into the bar on the left I noticed an older guy on a stool in sort of a wooden cage with a sturdy door that could be closed tight. Apparently he was some sort of cashier, who stayed protected in this wooden cage, probably with a baseball bat or shotgun within easy reach for someone not wanting to pay his/her check. I was in a good mood so I said, "Hi" to the guy. In return I got the most rude stare, as if to say, "What the f... are you doing in here?" He reminded me of a "screw" in an old prison movie. My wife and I managed to grope our way into this extremely dark, probably dirty place and gave our order to a pleasant waitress. The wife had the wedge salad and finished it all, liking it very much. I ordered the Texas Burger and proceeded to eat one of the best burgers I've had in 9 states and 3 foreign countries. The onion rings were very good but a little greasy for me. Next time I want a real burger I'll call for pick up and either hold my breath or hope the front door area is cleaner and smells better. I would never bring my kids in there. read more

My husband and I were living in NH up until a few months ago. We put an offer on a house in Norwood, and after the home inspection, we asked the inspector where to go for a good lunch - he said Lewis' has the best burgers around. We went there for lunch and were not disappointed! Ended up passing on the house, then found another one in Norwood that we fell in love with. Went to Lewis' after that home inspection too, bought the house, and now live here. We still have a lot to learn about the town, but Lewis' quickly became our favorite place to go for dinner or grab take out from. All of their burgers are amazing, and their gluten free pizza is the best I've had (was very surprised to see this on their menu, but I now order it almost every time). My husband's go-to meal is the buffalo chicken tenders with tater tots. Food is always great and the staff always very friendly! read more

Yum! Went here last week because my girlfriend and I were in the neighborhood. We went to the front bar. We got a table and hunkered down! The beers and food was cheap and so delicious. I got the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese. So great. Better than most I've had in boston! The bartenders were nice. Great mix of people. That's why we decided to come back this weekend. Same greatness. I guess sometime we'll have to try the other bar. And I really want to try the Lewis burger even though I don't like egg salad. I will be back soon. I have been patronizing Lewis' for over 30 years. I remember when a "bucket " of beer was 85 cents. Yes, it has gone through a few transitions, but the original bar has never changed and has not lost any of it's old charm. Drinks are generously served in a bucket (160z glass) as are draft beers. The classic Lewis Burger is a treasure and is not served with a fried egg and bacon but has egg salad, ham, onion, tomato and lettuce. When my brother visits from Virginia, one of his must-do's while in town is a trip to Lewis' for a Lewis Burger. Keno and large screen TV's provide plenty of diversion from the topless, ageless, beauties on the wall. The updated "restaurant side" serves a really nice menu at VERY reasonable prices. The menu offers a slew of choices and there are always daily specials as well. It's easy to have a $25 per person dinner including a drink and the tip. I personally love the philly cheese steak tips served with salad and potato or veggie. Tender ,perfectly cooked steak tips smothered with cheese, mushrooms, onions and peppers. All their portions are large so there is always enough to bring home for lunch the following day. The chicken marsala is also a winner. A few years ago, I booked a going away party for my daughter. I worked with the chef on the menu and he gave me some wonderful options and a delicious, varied menu and was able to stay within my budget. There were no extra or hidden charges. We had most of the room to ourselves but the few crashers who did join our party were all very nice and none of us minded having a few extra guests. Lewis' is a jewel. read more

Haven't been there in decades, since the '80s when they had another location in Newton....decided to go there for my birthday, now I regret not going sooner in fact, it was so good we went there again the next night. Good locations and plenty of parking. The Bartenders were great in getting the drinks out and the the food was good to. I went with 10 others and had a pretty good time. The waitress was slow, we still gave her a 25% tip for the holiday, and then we get chased out the door with her screaming at us for not paying our bill. Only for her to realize she was yelling at the wrong people. Maybe next time she'll know who her customers are, especially the ones that tip well. We were staying at the Hampton Inn in Norwood last week, and our family of four decided to give Lewis' a try. We ate on the Grill side, and enjoyed the relaxed environment. Our server was friendly. The menu has something for everybody, and has some unique items. One of us had the Lewis burger, and was surprised to see that the egg salad was spread on a slice of bread rather than just on the burger itself, yet he said that it really worked and that he liked the egg salad better than the more typical fried egg. He liked being able to order tater tots as a side. I had a grilled chicken sandwich (can't remember what it was called exactly, but it was prepared with pesto and balsamic vinaigrette), with a side of au gratin potatoes-- a choice that I've not seen before, and they were delicious. Another person ordered boneless wings with the sauce on the side. Though the chicken was a little on the dry side, the 'triple threat' sauce was excellent. We also liked the maple sriracha. There are several sauces that sounded intriguing. The macaroni and cheese was another dinner choice. The portion was substantial, and it was creamy and cheesy. We did not order any beer or cocktails, though I regret not trying the OVC. I wanted to return the next night just to try this drink, but that didn't happen. Tip: I read in the Hampton Inn room 'binder' that Lewis' will give a discount (can't remember the amount) if you present your room key card to the server. We did not find out about this until after our meal, but I thought I'd put it out there. We all enjoyed our experience at Lewis'. read more

I've been going to Lewis's for years and thought I'd written a review. Time to correct that. I rarely get anything else but a Lewis on a Mother - they are insanely good .... but I always start with an OVC before I order. The Orange Vodka Collins goes down way too quick and is a great refreshing summer drink. That does't stop me from having them in the dead of winter though. The next choice is what to eat - I'll ask for a menu .... god knows why. Eventually order a Lewis on a Mother with a side of fries or the onion strings (so freakin' good but can't eat too many). My one complaint can best be summed up by my experience last week. Now - even if you seat on the old Townie side of the bar with the naked pictures of girls in beer glasses, you can still get the large burger featured on the new side of the restaurant - not always told to patrons. I ordered the larger burger. Chris, a bartender, asked how I wanted it cook. After several moments of silence we both cracked up and laughed and laughed. I said medium rare to play along. When it arrived it was medium well - as always. Still tasty of course. read more

Never really travel to Norwood for the bar scene but my friend talked me into it. Arrived there at about 10 the place was packed. Kinda of hard to order a drink but when I did end up getting one it was worth the wait. Coming back in the future to try the food I'll let you know how that goes. read more

I'll agree with a couple of the other posters, it is a dive and used to be an old man's bar (still gets the regulars). But, fresh squeezed OJ- Dogfish beer on tap. I agree with another poster, this used to be an old mens bar. Seriously, there were murals of sexy women on the walls. I used to go here to pick up take out only. I haven't been here in years but I sometimes dream of eating a Lewis burger!! Another poster said it has a fried egg on it. Not so. It has ham and egg salad. I know it sounds gross. The wife and I go out every Friday for a few drinks and a meal. Somehow we find ourselves at Lewis' 90% of the time. Great bartenders and fresh squeeze drinks to excellent food.
