We were on a walk through downtown Norwood and decided to give Lewis' a try for lunch. They had the main part of the restaurant closed, but the front bar was open and busy. There are about 20 seats at the bar and a row of tables against the wall. TVs are on all four of the walls and tuned to various sports/news stations. I ordered a house wine and the chicken wings with Sesame Teriyaki sauce. Prior to ordering I asked our server if the wings were crispy and she told me that you can certainly order them that way, which I did. My wife ordered a burger (medium) and fries. The wings were fantastic, they were crispy and the Sesame Teriyaki sauce was delicious. I wish they had Ranch or Blue Cheese on the list of dipping sauces, but to be honest, I'm not sure I would have even used those since the wings were just perfect straight out of the kitchen. I tasted my wife's burger and it was good as well. If you like a little "pink" in the burger, then you should order them medium rare. The fries that came with the burger were also great, crispy, hot, golden brown. Will need to try this place again! read more

I came here for lunch with my boss on a Friday. The restaurant dining area seemed to be closed so we sat ourselves at a table at the bar area. After a few minutes of no servers approaching us, we had to ask the bar staff for service... Once a waitress came to take our order, it was smooth from there. The burgers and onion rings we had we top notch and their prices were very reasonable. My companion tried the steak, onion and cheese sub (yummy and so large you need to take so.e home and fries. I tried the Swordfish tacos. The sauce and veggies were great, especially if you squeeze some lime on them. The sauce was delicious (yet drippy!) So DO ask for extra paper napkins. Gotta Go To The Bar Side Lewis' has been around for years and has just recently re-invented itself with the back dining room. Granted, the burgers are great, but so are the other things on the 6 page menu! By the way, the screwdrivers are made in a 16 oz. "bucket" with FRESH SQUEEZED O.J.! Steak tips are GREAT and the chicken wings are too. At night, the back dining room has really well prepared meals ranging from Fish and chips (fresh everyday) to an excellent sirloin steak. Terrible service. Had reservation in the Grille Room. Tried seating 4 people in a tiny high top that had people from the very close neighboring table spilling into the seating area for the booth side of the high top. So crammed. This table would be tough for 2 people, let alone 4. Showed us to another table Le on the patio. It's December and they have a canvas wall. Freezing, except for directly under the broiler overhead heaters. Everyone we saw outside had winter coats on while dining. Some had hats and scarfs. Unless you were under one of the overhead salamander broilers, in which case you were being carmelized into the daily special. Pro tip: Don't take a reservation if you don't have availability. Terrible service. Ambivalent staff. Have fun on the outdoor patio this winter! Avoid at all costs. read more

I'd only been here once for lunch many years ago, had to try the famous Lewis burger. In a quest to hit all the townie and long standing joints (and this is both, having started in 1935 I think), 3 of us came on Wed to eat at the smaller orig bar area. With that famous "artwork". The Lewis burger we split was excellent, good meat cooked well. The egg salad is almost like having extra mayo more than noticing egg salad so much. My half didn't really have much ham but that's ok. The side of tater tots was great and plentiful. We also split the Rachel (both about $12) which my friend liked more than me but it was fine and came with good onion rings. Other friend got the burger and the boys ordered a couple pints of Guinness while I went with a basic and strong cosmo, about $11. They have a cocktail menu with no prices which bugs me to no end. Why do so many places so that these days? I must get it for free then right ? I also have to dock a star for the overpowering smell of frying oil in that room. Had to spread out my clothes when I got home. But if Norwood were my town, I'd come for that burger way more often. read more

I've heard about Lewis' for awhile and was anxious to try it. The first time I went, it was closed for a private event. I finally got there and wish I hadn't. Only the bar and outside was open due to staff shortages. The menu was bar only, sandwiches and burgers. I wish a listened to one of the others I was with and went elsewhere. I got an "Irish pizza" grilled cheese and tomato. Awful!!!! It wasn't grilled. It more likely was toasted, the cheese wasn't melted and, it was the size of a child's sandwich. Just awful! There was one waiter and the service was extremely slow. Never again! Awful. read more

So they gave me a gift card when I went the following week to redeem the gift card they told me their system was down after giving me the check and could not accept gift cards. Also the check suggested a gratuity of 24%. Then the teen waiter when he gave him my check and I explained the situation told me not to yell at him and if I didn't ever wanna come back, I didn't have to. Went there for lunch to treat my I need after he help me to do a carpeting job. At first we weren't able to be seated at the table that I wanted to by the door. Service said the the table we sat out that was seated for like four was for larger parties so she asked us sit in the middle of the room that was also a table for 4 but I wasn't comfortable but sat there. Once we figured out the menus at the menu on the wall was a luncheon menu everything's in smaller portions and didn't include sides like french fries. The price is A bit lower we ended up getting the bacon cheeseburger with mayonnaise and onion I got what was supposed to be a tuna melt and then we order the small sweet potato fries to go with them. My honey said the burger was amazing the bacon was cooked perfectly soft enough so that I could eat it which was great. The sweet potato fries was huge for a small order. I had gotten a tuna melt. However the tuna was chilly like it supposed to be. But the cheese was not melted and the bread tasted like it was toasted and not grilled. Different for sure. I've been here many times and I've always left good reviews the waitress service was good. But with everything going on the world today you have to expect the somethings are going to be different. Been coming here for years. I used to work in Norwood and we did mandatory take out once a week. My coworkers love this place. Old bar with great food. Lewis Burger or Steak tips for me. Quality food at a reasonable price. Word of caution during some of my dine in experiences some drunks at the bar dropping F bombs regularly. It is more of a bar than a restaurant. Server was friendly and helpful. I had a fish sandwich which was decent but not as great as I thought it was going to be based off of looks. I have gone a couple of times though just for the poutine. It has a sort of BBQ chicken with cheese and a gravy that when combined is so tasty. I would go back just for that. Food is pretty good though. It is more of a bar after all. If you are looking for an American bite that is quick and decent this place will satisfy that.
