Stopped here for lunch as we started our day of hitting up Pub Pass locations. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised by both their menu options and the quality of the food. I had a roasted red pepper soup for the first time in my life and it was delicious. I understand that we ordered door dash late night. But the issues have nothing to do with quality. The meatloaf wasn't meatloaf. I'm not sure what it was. We came here on for MNF. The staff was so nice and surprisingly, its hard to find bars in KC that will play the volume for games other than the Chiefs. The staff was happy to play the volume for the game we wanted. We ordered some apps to share and drinks. I have to say I was really surprised by how solid the food was. I can't believe we had never been before. Its a smaller place but makes it a great neighborhood spot. The staff was super nice and our service was great. It's a good classic bar and grill. A friend and I met for Happy Hour at Lew's the other day, and we had a marvelous time! Our server was Sara P, who was truly awesome. Despite being the sole server (and bartender!), Sara was friendly, welcoming and efficient. She guided us through the menu (as it was our first time visiting the establishment), gave us great recommendations on menu choices, and checked back with us frequently throughout the meal. She was genuinely interested in ensuring we had a good time, and I really appreciate her! The food was EXCELLENT--I had the Southwest Egg Rolls and my friend had the Nachos, and both of our meals were delicious! The kitchen did a nice job in preparing them quickly, and the presentation was lovely. The perfect place for a late night fix! I went to see a movie one evening, but to no surprise, most restaurants were closed by the time the movie was over (around 9:30-10). Lew's was open and still serving food, so I dropped by with a friend. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Mac N Cheese, and wow! The chicken was so tender and juicy, while the buffalo sauce was spicy and flavourful. The mac was absolutely delicious - if you're a bleu cheese fan, you'll fall in love as you can absolutely taste it. Service was also extremely quick and we were able to continue hanging out there after eating. I'm so glad Lew's offers such amazing food late, and I'll absolutely be back! read more

Best part of my week is karaoke night on Wednesdays!! Large front area for smokers, nice layout for tables and bar and the restrooms are always clean! So much fun, only downside is they're very short staffed most of the time so it can be difficult getting service, but remember they're people too and doing the best they can! I've definitely become more of a Super Fan of Lew's as a Sports Bar but also most recently as a delivery service (yes, DoorDash and Postmates and the like) standby for late night snack attacks. Lew's is still a never crowded it seems neighborhood place to grab a midday drink and they offer food specials daily which brings me to my last visit to Lew's for lunch. Having missed the ever popular Waldo Pizza Pizza! lunch buffet being it almost 2:30 me and my companion decided on Lew's and both became pleasantly surprised when the special said $4 off burgers and it happened to be $2 off craft drafts-double score! I had never had a burger at Lew's and to be honest I really don't know how this has happened because I basically live off burgers...but I immediately knew today was the day and settled on an incarnation of a breakfast burger complete with two of my favorite breakfast accompaniments, an everything bagel and a runny egg. We started with the turbo tots which are always in my delivery orders as well and travel well staying crispy and golden brown (the fried pickles not so much, better eaten at the bar and washed down with a cold beer) and devoured them just in time for our burgers to arrive. Mine was absolutely as rich and fatty and salty as it gets, the burger patty replicating the feel of a big patty of breakfast sausage, the everything bagel staying firm and not getting soggy from the meat egg and cheese and the pieces of bacon providing another layer of crunch and salt to the burger. It really was so mouthwatering and with a tummy full of tots I could only stuff half of this bad boy down but 10/10 would get again especially at a $4 discount. read more

I walked in @ sat down close to the end of the bar. I scanned the menu, choose what I wanted and waiting for the bartender to come over. The TWO bartenders stayed on the opposite side of the bar for several minutes, attending to one set of customers. There was even a couple that came and sat down at the bar after me; who ordered food and received food before my order was even placed. When one of the waitresses decided to acknowledge me, there was no apology, no smile, no conversation, nothing. I ordered my food from the waitress and she brought me the bill. I waited to pay until my food was ready. Plus I was having a drink @ the bar as well. I sat there for quite some time waiting for miniature pieces of chicken strips to be ready. I have been here several times but the last time I came it was a disappointing experience. I had just moved into my apartment and brought my boyfriend here for a later dinner and drinks. It was all fine and dandy until our waitress seemed drunk (or something....). She forgot to put our food order In and upon telling us (maybe 45 minutes later) I told her don't even worrry about mine. I was over it at that point. It took forever to get drinks and refills. Otherwise, I would not have minded waiting. Her visits to our table were few and far between. Eventually our food came out, mine included. It took so long we were just ready to leave. We had worked all day and then waited forever for service. In the mean time, other waitress were running around, arms full of plates and drinks.. We thought that surely our food would be discounted or something but it wasn't. It was just a disappointing experience. **I will say: don't let this one visit/my review inhibit you from going. I have been many times and it is impeccable. A fantastic neighborhood bar & grill-so reasonably priced for some yummy & filling grub. The table got plenty orders of nachos, salads, and burgers which were all solid. Personally, I had the Lew's burger (only $12!) that was packed with real lettuce (no iceberg crap), tomato, pickles, cheese, and a well cooked meaty burger. The bun was also the ideal size where it didn't overpower the flavor of the meat. Lew's has lots of great food & drink deals throughout the week which make for a returning, happy customer base. 10/10 would recommend for your next March Madness watch spot! read more

What a real disappointment. We live nearby, and are new to Waldo. We decided to try a local business and put in an early evening order yesterday on Halloween. We figured we would best the "rush". Put in order and it was done in a timely manner. We got home with the food and it went downhill from there. We had 4 basic orders, nothing special, and $53.00 later.. I had a $15.00 tenderloin sandwich. Sure it was big, but over cooked so dry, absolutely no flavor at all. Lettuce with it was wilted and had gone bad. The fries were hard and cold. We got a child's Mac and cheese for $8.00 and it was freaking Kraft! Nothing else's came with it. All the fries were cold and hard like they've been sitting there for quite a while. They had good flavor and would have been great if they had been fresh. Needless to say, we won't be back. What a ripoff. read more

After bad experiences in the past I have avoided Lew's for some time. I recently came back in to give this place another shot. I am happy to say things have changed and the people and the food were great. On my last visit, i came in right behind a peddle hopper party as well as another large group. I thought I was doomed based on prior experience. I was wrong! Our server Sade was wonderful. Made sure we always had drinks and apologized for the delay in food due to the large groups. I have no hesitation coming back or recommending Lew's again! On a side note. They have a new menu with a few new items to try. All look great and can't wait to try them. read more

Burgers! I love 'em. I also love it when you can choose to have zucchini fries instead of regular fries. You get a lot of em too. You can pick your burger bun...and that's pretty sweet. The round burger didnt fit perfectly with sourdough bread... But i'm willing to bet the pretzel bun is a real winner. I've already decided to get the hotdog next time... so many toppings to choose from... They have a lot of options on the menu and the fact they are open late makes them much appreciated. I gotta say that the entrance/smoke patio is pretty disappointing. I know that's hard to regulate but ick. Just hold your breath and make a run for it. read more
