Loved this boutique hotel. Small and intimate, this hotel had a great location on Lexington Avenue in NYC. Upon arriving, check-in wasn't until 3:00pm, however they were able to hold our luggage until the room was ready. When we finally checked-in, in a very sleek looking lobby might I add, the concierge was so kind and helpful (I forget his name), he upgraded our room to a much bigger room. Although the room was in the basement of the hotel, it still had a window, very spacious, and because I wasn't going to be in the room for long, I couldn't care less about the view. The highlight for me was the bathroom, that had black tile decor. Overall, the hotel was very accommodating. Free WiFi upon check in, complimentary breakfast and coffee in the morning, friendly staff, and a good location. Highly recommend if you're not looking for an "over-the-top" hotel that you are going to spend your whole day in. read more

We had planned to stay in NYC for 12 nights so needed to find somewhere comfortable. The Lex went above and beyond our expectations. Our room was very spacious and modern. Super clean and the housekeeping staff were awesome. The staff are very helpful and courteous with any questions and also greet you every time you enter the lobby. Management should give them a chair to rest though! They deserve it. There are a few subway stations close by as well as 7/11 and a multitude of restaurant options. Wifi works really well and is really reliable. TV was large and offered a Long list of channels. Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend to others. read more

Meh... Small rooms but that's par for the course for NY hotels. The lobby is a bit deceiving and much more stylish than the guest rooms who's decor is outdated and a bit bland. The bed was lumpy and hard. The big plus for this hotel is the staff who were extremely helpful and pleasant. read more

The location is central to Kips Bay or Murray Hill. Very nice staff, work hard and they try hard to accommodate you. We got suggestions on food and I think perhaps places to go at night. As I waited for the car to pick us up to the airport some young people thanked the desk manager for his suggestions. Clean room, nice linens but small - the way of a lot of NYC hotels. I would prefer drapes opposed to horizontal window coverings. This is our second time here and the only negative is there never seems to be a door man when we arrive. The lobby is cold but probably great in the summer heat. The staff tries hard and that is all you can ask for - we will be back. read more

This must be the cleanest hotel I have ever been to. The rooms are small but nice. The decor is simple yet effective. The black out curtains helped me sleep for 10 hrs. I have a confession and it'll probably rub a lot of people the wrong way. My relationship with New York is not a good one. I've been multiple times for business and for pleasure, and for whatever reason I still can't understand what all the commotion is about. If you enjoy the hustle and bustle of city life, I can see how NY will win you over. I mean, it's THE city of all cities. However, it's not my scene. Growing up in Orange County located in Southern California, beaches, boardshorts, t-stirts & jeans, flip flops and the Joe Cool mantra is more my thing. When I moved to NorCal I had the option to live in San Francisco, and although I believe SF is the best city in the country, hands down, I still settled for a more suburban area where things are a little slower. Gone are my party days. Dreams of living in a bar city with an excellent food scene is better suited for the mid 20s version of Bruce. Old Bruce appreciates convenience. Old Bruce welcomes peace and quiet. Old Bruce is, well, way more boring than mid 20s Bruce. With all that being said, you can imagine how much I appreciate a hotel that can temporarily take me away from the onslaught of NY. Enter Lex NYC Boutique Hotel. It has everything I need while staying in NY. PROS: - Great location in Manhattan. A lot of good eats within walking distance. - Super friendly staff and I mean SUPER friendly - Quiet - Rooms are very spacious compared to other NY hotels - Bathrooms are awesome with all the necessities - Rooms have great lighting - Two complimentary bottles of water CONS: - Since I arrived so late (around midnight), I was assigned a room in the lower level aka basement. A little weird. - The sheets were a little rough. I suggest investing in higher thread count or better fabric. At least microfiber man! - They could splurge on their lobby a little more. Maybe provide more comfortable seating. All in all, Lex provided a great experience. I didn't leave my room until my 1pm meeting the next day. The TV kept me occupied until I had to leave and I wasn't terribly hungry. For the price, Lex is a serious bargain for out-of-towners. read more

I stayed here a few weeks ago, staff was super nice and it was a good location. However, days after I came home over 60 bed bug bites appeared all over my body. I tried to get ahold of the hotel manager for days and finally, when I got a call back, they were prepared to send me the inspection report stating that the room was cleared of bed bugs. I can't imagine I got them anywhere else besides while sleeping in the room -- after all they are drawn in by your body heat, the carbon dioxide you exhale and other biological signatures. Gross. Anyways, while they were painful and have since scarred on my body; I had extreme anxiety and couldn't sleep for days over the fact that I might have brought them home and with me and I have two young babies at home. Not happy. I want to share my story with others because you need to be aware of this issue. read more

I had such a wonderful experience here! It was exactly what I was looking for- a wonderfully priced, clean, no-frills hotel. I wasn't looking for anything luxurious because who goes on a vacation to spend most of their time in the hotel! I was pleasantly surprised by how great the customer service was and how clean the facilities were for how little I paid to spend two nights there with my boyfriend. The front desk was very cordial and accommodating- we had arrived earlier than check-in but they were able to arrange a room for us despite our early arrival. Our room was extremely clean- the sheets, the bathroom, and what have you. They were even nice enough to provide two water bottles, complimentary on the hotel, and the bathroom was equipped with nicer-than-usual, hotel goodies (shampoo, conditioner, etc). The next day, we had left to traipse around the city and had left the room in utter disarray. When we came back, the room was impeccably clean and they were even nice enough to have organized some of our things for us, without having rummaged through anything. I had a few shirts that were strewn about (on the floor/bed), and they were folded with care and left on the bed. On the day of check-out, the front desk called 2 hours prior and inquired about our stay and asked if there was anything they could do to accommodate us, such as arranging for a car to the airport, or to hold onto our bags at the desk while we tried to squeeze out a few more hours of walking about the city before our flight- we were taken aback by how hospitable they were! Excellent service, extremely clean facilities, and very friendly employees! I would come back and stay at the Lex NYC in a heartbeat. read more

This is a good hotel. Rooms are small but that I suspect most hotels in NYC have fairly small rooms. I very much appreciated the friendly greeting I knew I was going to receive each time I walked through the lobby, in fact one time it was slightly delayed and for a second I was like, is this a new guy or something? There is not a gym or pool in the facility but that is alright the 12 hours we spent walking each day gave us a good workout. I suppose you could do stair sprinting or something in the evening but I am not that motivated. The location is fantastic you are approximately 3 blocks from a metro and very close to the flatiron building. I actually thought some of the restaurants in this part of the city were some of the best. My only real complaint is the morning coffee is terrible, tastes like you guys are recycling yesterday's coffee grounds. Anyways good hotel. read more

The Lex is a phenomenal option for a trip to NYC. The location is awesome! Immediately upon check in, we were so impressed with the friendliness of the staff. They were so attentive and provided us with a list of recommendations within walking distance of the hotel (approx 25 options). Our room was spotless, zero complaints. Daily mini breakfast & then a later wine & cheese reception at 5pm each day was a fantastic perk! All the little things that can make a big difference, the Lex had it covered. Shower pressure was great, bathroom lighting was vibrant, not dingy or yellow. There is also a rooftop patio that is open for all guests to enjoy at their leisure. It is not the fanciest hotel but it is truly all you need for an enjoyable stay in the city. read more

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We got into the city early our first day, they let us check in early which was amazing considering we were totally jetlagged. Complementary water is always amazing AND you get new bottles each day! The staff here is so friendly and helpful, customer satisfaction is definitely their top priority which is refreshing. They all had amazing recommendations for food and things to do around the area. Taught us how to use the subway, felt like locals by the end of our trip! I came here with my husband on a random Wednesday on a spontaneous trip and stayed here for 2 nights. The place is adorable and extremely clean. The front desk service is friendly and super helpful. Minus 1 Star for the not so spectacular breakfast. It only consisted of croissants, coffee, and milk. Could've had a little more variety like other pastries or cereal or even juice. The only reason this isn't 5-star is because I save 5-star for something above and beyond. But all in all this hotel was perfect for what we wanted. The rooms are clean and a nice size for NYC. The staff were friendly. Wifi was solid. And it wasn't too noisy. After we checked out, we left our luggage behind because we had later flights out of the city. Unlike some hotels that just put your stuff in a room that you can go into later to grab your own bag, the Lex used a tagged claim system. It's a small touch that made me feel like my things were secure and we were being taken care of. I would definitely stay here again. read more

Such a cute hotel! Very clean, and the staff were really friendly. Breakfast was just baked goods (muffins, croissants, etc), nothing hot like eggs or toast, but they were fresh and delicious. They also had coffee, tea, milk and OJ. My only complaint is that the room had no curtains, just blinds with gaps between them. The lights of the city came through the gaps at night and affected our sleep. read more

Lex Hotel was a wonderful choice for our long weekend trip to NYC! We flew in on a red eye so we were exhausted when we arrived at the hotel around 7:30am, and Maurice was a friendly and welcoming face in the lobby. He made our day by noticing we were so tired from traveling, and checked us in right then even though our reservation said check-in wasn't until 3pm. We were able to get some rest, and on our way out to go explore a few hours later, Maurice again was so helpful and printed our tickets for us, as well as gave us directions on how to get where we were going. Every person working the counter in the lobby that we passed on our way in or out was so friendly. Our room was cozy and exactly what we wanted for our stay in NYC. The location was also awesome as there were a few subways very close by, and a lot of restaurants and bars within walking distance. First time I've decided to stay in a hotel in NYC, in lieu of sleeping in living rm of a friend's tiny apt. I was concerned that it might be a, "you get what you pay for", experience. But, it turned out to be a surprisingly good overall experience. They let me drop my bag early on check-in day. The only disappointment was that when I dropped bag they said they'd probably have my room ready before check-in. When I called to check on it an hour or so before, I was told it wasn't ready and they'd call me back when it was - which they didn't. But, aside from that, the room was clean, comfortable, reasonably sized for just myself, and really quiet. I had asked the guy at check-in for a room facing away from street. He obliged and I'm very appreciative of that. Also really well located for my needs - getting to/from Penn St, going to a variety of clubs and music venues in mid-town area. Would definitely return. I saw one reviewer complain about the resort fee. That caught my attention as well, on booking, but, it's very clear in the booking information - at least on Expedia. Still quite a deal for NYC. read more

This hotel is in the perfect location! Away from the annoying Times Square tourists types that drive me insane. A couple minute walk to trains. Got around easy and fast to flatiron and Brooklyn tonight. 18 dollar cab ride from Williamsburg. The staff here is extremely friendly and it's obvious they have been schooled well in hospitality. Rooms / lobby are so quiet, very minimal/ no frills and super clean / new. There are no bars or restaurants in this property. We got a corner queen room with a balcony and it was perfect size. Big bathroom (with tub) for Manhattan too. The heat and AC thermostat work excellent, which is rare in hotel rooms. Each room has an individual unit. Cheese and wine offered in lobby at happy hour. Great Indian restaurants just down the street are a must and a a couple little 24 hour markets on the same block if you need to grab some items here and there. Directly across the street from the beautiful national guard building. We will definitely stay here again. Oh and what great value! We have paid way more for rooms that do not meet our standards. read more

Meh...nothing super impressive about this hotel, although the lighting in the rooms, bottled water and the pleasant smelling soaps and shampoos (lemon verbana) were a nice touch. I got this room at a discount rate on Hotels Tonight, so arrived a little after midnight. The night clerk was rather aloof. A bit disconcerting. He looked really bored and tired. Like the last thing he wanted to do was check me in. I asked for directions to a Laundromat in the AM, as there are not any laundry services on site. There is dry cleaning which costs a small fortune. The clerk gave me bad directions,and incorrect information. Was not pleased about that. Thankfully AM clerks have proper directions on second try locating Laundromat. Also, breakfast is free in the morning, but the time was not relayed clearly to me. You can have coffee or tea ordered and brought to your room though. I was also placed on ground floor right off the lobby. Noisy. Slamming doors woke me twice throughout the night :( read more

We arrived around noon and there was a room for us to check into. Awesome!! The staff was super nice and the lobby was small but clean and modern looking. Our room was perfect for our needs. Not overly roomy but very clean with modern decor. I loved the bathroom. It was very bright, spacious, and most importantly: clean. The neighborhood was lacking a bit as it was a weekend but I would definitely stay here again. It is central enough to get anywhere in the city pretty quickly. read more
