We went to our local, Kernersville movie theater today, Trex Cinema. They have all the first run…read moremovies and we saw The Devil Wears Prada 2. It was awesome. We met the owner, Don Trexler and his pooch Oliver. We had such a great time, I decided to do a cost comparison between Trex Cinema vs Palladium on Samet Dr. The savings at Trex are significant! At Trex, Date Matinee or Date Night are great because the prices are the same..ALL DAY! 2 adults $7.50 ea 15.00 COMBO Large corn and large drink only $13.50 TOTAL $28.50 At Regal Palladium in Greensboro/ High Point, here's what you'd pay for the same matinee tickets and the same snacks. NOTE: Palladium tickets after matinee times are even more. Date matinee 2 adult tickets $13.99 = $27.98 1 large popcorn $12.49 1 large drink $ 8.49 TOTAL $48.96 (Trex would save you $20.46) Now let's do the math for a family of 4 TREX CINEMA FAMILY OF 4 Let's say you're a family of 4 and your 2 kids refuse to share. Honestly, why should they at these prices? Plus it saves you a headache. At Trex Cinema you can get Combo #1 is a small drink & small popcorn at $11.00ea x 2 kids = $22.00 Combo #3 large corn and drink $13.50 4 tickets $7.50 = $30 TOTAL TICKETS AND SNACKS $65.50 REGAL PALLADIUM FAMILY OF 4 (Matinee prices) 2 small drinks $8.49 ea = $16.98 2 small popcorns $10.49 = $20.98 1 large popcorn $ 12.49 and 1 large drink $8.49 = $20.98 So far, you've spent $58.94 for snacks. Now let's add tickets: 2 adult tickets $13.99 ea = $27.98 + 2 kids under 12 yo $12.99 ea = $25.98 Total for tickets $53.96 TOTAL TICKETS AND SNACKS $112.90 (Trex would save you $47.40!) So ask yourself.. "Do my kids need recliners to watch a movie?" The answer? They do not. Please support our locally owned and operated movie theater and save yourself a lot of money. The theater and bathrooms are exceptionally clean (no sticky floors). The Orville Redenbacher popcorn kernels are organic, popped in coconut oil and are naturally gluten free. The coconut oil keeps popped corn fresh and crunchy for several days, so if you can't finish it, take it home! The odds are in your favor to meet the owner Don Trexler and his trusty and very sweet sidekick, Oliver. If you're really lucky, Mrs. Trexler may be there too. All of their employees are exceptionally polite. This theater provides a wonderful, local experience.

Our movie was supposed to start at 7 pm Friday night. They said it was taking long to download it. We had decided if it hadn't started by 8 we would leave. Almost exactly at 8 they said they had it downloaded in the 2nd theater so we needed to move theaters. They were very gracious and refilled everyone's popcorn and sodas (earlier offered a refundfor those that didn't want to wait). I had ordered the medium combo and my friend the large. Our total was 38.00 including the movie tickets. No, it's not updated like a new theater, but spending less than the normal 80.00 to 100.00 for 2 adults for a movie.....priceless!! I will be driving a little out of my way from now on, for a movie night.

I was like, "Where is this???" We drive down that road all the time and had no idea it was even there! What we loved about it is that it's not one of those fancy theaters. It's an independent local theater that's definitely a little outdated, in the best vintage way! We don't need reclining seats or 3D to enjoy every movie. Sometimes all you want is a big screen and theaters like Marketplace Cinema are getting harder to find these days. The best part? Tickets were only $9 for us and just $7 for my college son! We'll definitely be back. I love finding and supporting local places like this.

With…read more$7 shows, a wide variety of refreshments sold (from beer and wine to popcorn and assorted candies) and an all-male comedian roster, this was truly a treat that left its sold-out crowd guffawing and gagging, literally, over the deliverances of jokes that ranged from raunchy adult to downright childish and silly! These groups of comedians did not come to disappoint as they approached everything from crowd interactions to tongue-in-cheek monologues performed. Marriage, modern day behaviors and protruding manholes were just a boisterous bit of memorable subjects discussed, leaving the crowd both stunned and stuck in their seats, doubling over with laughter. Myself (and my friends that I brought along) arrived just 15 minutes before the sold-out show only to enter a jam-packed theater house full of comedy-lovers. Seated directly in the front row (because there were absolutely no other available seats), I confess to feeling a tad bit anxiety over the possibility of becoming one of the comedians' targets to tease... but as the show commenced, I/we was/were left more than thrilled to have the best seats in the entire house! Would I go again when these "idiots" return to the soapbox & silverscreen in Salem? Uhhh, duhhhhh! Should others be sure to check out whenever they do make their way back to perform? At that affordable price, you'd be an idiot not to!

You have your normal movie theater choices, nothing out of the ordinary. They do have a few specialty alcoholic drinks available, as well as a frozen Jack & Coke. Everything is a bit pricey. The theater itself was clean and you have assigned seats so no rush. Seats are reclinable and very comfortable. The popcorn was a good size for a small and I could add my own butter. The nacho chips came in a bag and then i had to empty them into the box they gave me. Same thing with the cheese, it came in a little cup, but surprisingly it was warm. The theater room itself was clean which was nice. Something I really enjoy about coming here is the seating. I love how the chair can recline! I even realized that they have a warmer too.

However, after getting past that, I was excited to take advantage the discounted Tuesday tickets. I went to see Wicket: For Good, and the process of entering the theater, visiting concessions, and finding our seats was solid. The screen size was big and the volume of the movie was loud, but not excessive. I was also happy with the comfy reclining chairs. A couple of detractors included, 1- the reclining chairs were a little beat up; 2- there were a lot of commercials (in addition to some previews, which are welcome) shown before the movie, the lobby is small and there really wasn't much of a place to wait before entering the theater. Overall my experience was good. They have membership programs, which are definitiely a good value for frequent visitors. For an infrequent visitor, like myself, the Tuesday discount was perfect!

My issue first tis that the staff really seems like they dont want to be there. They are rude and they do not have any communication skills. They had 2 lines when we got there and didnt communicate if one was tickets and 1 was concessions. It looked like 2 likes were open so when the customer in front of me got their items and left I moved up. I stood at the counter for 5 minutes with workers all over and no one coming over to me or asking me to move to the other like all the while the other line is moving and a ton of people behind me got their items before me. After the 5 mins I said something to a worker and they were very rude to me and said there was only 1 line open. I decided not to buy any concessions. The prices are the other issue. You used to get an unlimited refill popcorn bucket for $9 which already is a lot considering it cost them like 10 cents for that amount of popcorn but they aren't profiting enough already so they got rid of the bucket for a bag and now you get 1 refill. It was an annoying and bad experience.
