My 2018 IS350 F sport needed new struts since I ran up a curb a couple of times over the years. Arrrghh! Lexology was much more reasonable than taking my car to the dealership. They did a great job and on time as promised. I also had to get 3 new tires, one I had to get replaced last year since it had a puncture and wasn't able to patch. So a few weeks later I took my car back to Lexology to get 3 new tires. When I got the struts replaced, they told me if I get the tires from them, they won't charge me for alignment. Great. Got the new tires. You would think they'd check the tire pressure on the one tire that wasn't replaced when they installed the 3 new tires. Nope they didn't. The one tire was 3 PSI less than the three new tires. read more

For background, I've lived in the south bay for 3 years and trusted Lexology exclusively with my 2004 IS300 and 2007 LX470. I also trusted Lexology with my mother's 2024 NX450h+ when she was in town and needed a quick oil change. I've spent quite a few hours chatting with the service advisors, receptionists, and owner, both over the phone and in person. I believe this makes me qualified to review the business. If you read through the one and two star reviews on Yelp, you'll notice the most common complaint is the service advisors recommending a long list of expensive repairs. As I mentioned above, Lexology's whole goal as a business is to make your vehicle as perfect as it can be. The owner and several of the techs have decades of experience with these cars: they are literally trained to catch every single thing that can be improved. I look at it this way: knowledge is power, and I'd rather know everything that is less-than-perfect on my car so I can plan accordingly. Telling me about things that are below the manufacturer's standards shows expertise and genuine care, and shouldn't warrant a bad review alone. More importantly, when other mechanics present you a long list of repairs, they will try to convince you that every single item is a must do, or your car is going to fall apart, or your engine is going to fail. Lexology does not do that. Lastly, Lexology's work quality meets or exceeds anything Toyota or Lexus roll off the production line. Sure, they might not be perfectly equipped to help you build a track car, or they might not be an off-road Land Cruiser specialist. But that's just the thing: they're not trying to be hyper-specialized. Lexology is trying to provide quality above and beyond what the dealership can offer to a huge range of cars, at well below dealership prices. And at that, they succeed. I know the power dynamic of auto repair is frightening. We bring expensive things that we don't know much about to a person who claims to be an expert, only for them to come back with a piece of paper that has a bunch of words we don't recognize and a cost estimate that makes our heart skip a beat. He called me shortly after I dropped my car (2010 Matrix, 135k miles) off with details about what was needed and recommended for my car - air flow was too lean. I took my Hyundai Santa Fe to the shop. The trunk is automatic, but it wasn't opening. The official dealer wanted to charge me $3,000. I explained that I didn't have that amount and asked if they could offer a better price. Fernando and Sergio gave me the option to order aftermarket parts that they found for me. I ended up spending less than half of what the official dealer quoted. I am extremely satisfied--the service was excellent! They even washed my car and cleaned the interior before returning it. This review can never be as long as truly needed because the history of problems lexology solved for me is far too long to type. After over 6k in repairs elsewhere that left me with the same (and additional) problems 3 years later, I found Lexology and took my baby here. Mike and his team knew what they were doing and it took less than a week to fix problems that had been "unsolvable" for more than 3 years. I regret not taking my car to Lexology immediately when it first had an issue shifting. I thought my family mechanic would know what to do, but he just made things worse. My car needed an expert that knew what to do with an LS 430, not an auto mechanic. An expert is what I finally got at lexology. I love my car, and I feel guilty about the the way it was treated BEFORE I took it to lexology. When I picked it up last week and it felt like butter again driving home I was in tears. This review is being written because I hadn't felt so much joy driving my car since 2021. It drives just like the first day I got it, and it took them no time at all. I will be back if I ever need anything again. Getting the correct diagnosis from an expert is the key to keeping the cost of the repair down, and lexology found the issue and fixed it for a reasonable price, saving me time and money. I wish I had done it sooner. This review isn't just about the work they did on the vehicle. You can tell people working there care about you and the cars they are working on. I've been to Lexology in Hermosa Beach multiple times for my Lexus GX460. Once was for a rusted-on oxygen sensor. We're talking New Jersey rust here folks; this thing was frozen on. I was quite prepared to hear that they had to cut it out entirely or remove the manifold but no! It came back on time and perfectly done for the given price. Car runs like a champ! Today I had them install and balance a set of BFGoodrich KM3 tires. Yes they do more than just mechanical work. The GX drives smooth and looks even better.
