I've been to Lexology in Hermosa Beach multiple times for my Lexus GX460. Once was for a rusted-on oxygen sensor. We're talking New Jersey rust here folks; this thing was frozen on. I was quite prepared to hear that they had to cut it out entirely or remove the manifold but no! It came back on time and perfectly done for the given price. Car runs like a champ! Today I had them install and balance a set of BFGoodrich KM3 tires. Yes they do more than just mechanical work. The GX drives smooth and looks even better. I'm SO glad I found Lexology, Inc. As an owner of an LC500, a high end vehicle, it's great to have a service alternative to going to the dealer while the car is still under warranty. I needed a quick release cable attached to my battery for a trickle charger that the dealer and other mechanics did not want to deal with because of the high end nature of the vehicle. Alex took great care of me, and the install they did was very nice, placing the cable through the trunk panel without disrupting anything on the car. He also didn't charge me for this, (I did approve them to do an oil change while I was there). It's a great place to go if you need any extra curricular work on any Lexus or Toyota and it's conveniently located within walking distance of cafes to have a bite while waiting - there is also a very clean comfortable waiting room on site. I went to Lexology to get my brakes checked. They came back and said I needed front brakes and rotors. Then they also said I needed an AC filter, efi service, transmission flush, a transmission oil change and a new battery. the total cost would be $1223.21. I was uncomfortable with that, so I got a second opinion from a reputable local mechanic. He said, the front brakes needed pads, but the rotors could be resurfaced. Flushing the transmission is bad. (I verified on the internet). AC filter needed change. EFI service is ridiculous on a car with only 40,000 miles. (I verified on the internet) The car needed a battery. The mechanic, did the brakes with Toyota pads, changed the transmission fluid, replaced the AC filter, and replaced the battery with an upper grade battery. The total cost was $551.60, A saving of $671.61. I gave Lexology two stars because the chair in the waiting room was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. read more

I was a customer of Lexology for over 13 years. When they were in the smaller building the service was more personal and customized. When they started at the newer building several years ago I noticed that they became similar to the Lexus dealership I despised and left to go to Lexology. My Lexus is 20 years old and started to have issues last year with some stalling while idling. The fast talking guy in the front gave me a list of items to fix which included a new transmission for $5,000. Only had 115,000 miles on it at the time. Total fixes were over $10,000 easy. Remember, I have been a loyal customer for 13 years! When they did the full service on the car, the stalling actually got worse! Recently took my car to a trustworthy local mechanic recommeded by a friend: $1100 later my car runs like a dream! NO transmission issues at all.( I was ready to trash this car). I appreciate that Lexology serviced my car over the years and did a good job at that, but like others here who have older cars...this place runs like a dealership now, too bad. read more

As for my name not being in your system - it's not uncommon for people to use a pseudonym on the internet for privacy. But you already knew that right? So why the fakery? It's your place - no question. You see, a friend of mine lives across the street from you. You know, across Aviation to the north near the shopping plaza where the Big Lots is? Oh and I frequent the Jack-in-Box a few blocks over to the east of you. Oh and there's ET surfboards down the street I use to frequent as a teenager. But I'm sure you didn't seriously think that I got your place confused with another shop. So why the fakery? Also, if your former Lexus or Toyota certified technicians are all that, why did they lose 2 of the screws on my engine cover during a simple oil change? And why did your mechanic and that dude behind the computer say that I needed things like my cam seals replaced? Turns out I found an honest mechanic that said I don't need the stuff listed on your estimate. The ironic part was, it turns out that I did need to have my valve cover gasket replaced which my honest mechanic completed shortly after my visit to your shop, but that wasn't listed on your estimate. I've been daily driving the car ever since and not a single drop of oil, neither on the ground, nor the engine, nor according to the indication line on the dipstick. I don't have the VIN number because I don't tend to save things like that from a Craigslist ad from years prior. But you knew that. I do know that it was a Lexus GS400 or GS430 because it had the V8. Silver with black interior. Silver wheels. One of your mechanics was commenting to another customer about it like it was his so why don't you ask your mechanics why they put an ad up with a fake address and description. Also, you're suppose to disclose if your not a private-party seller on Craigslist. Did you not want to pay the fee or is it you didn't want potential buyers to know? read more

Impressive is an understatement!   Bear with me here, I'm in a good mood, so this review will be pretty thorough.   First of all, when arriving, if you're looking for a traditional automotive shop driveway to turn into, you may miss it. Camouflaged into the hills or Hermosa Beach lies what looks to be an entrance to either a private club, or a top level high tech facility from your favorite contemporary action thriller. Before even walking in to the front door, you get the sense that the facility is very modern. I immediately noticed the lack of traditional auto shop noise. Not a peep of sound from pneumatic tools, engine tests, or moving cars. It seemed very unintrusive to the area.   When I stepped into the lobby, I was warmly greeted my Mayda and Alex in the front lobby. I briefly sat down and described that I was there to get a general inspection done on the used GX470 I just recently bought. There were some issues I thought I had and they assured me there would be no problem in diagnosing what they may be. While I was getting my information entered into their system, I couldn't help but look around and marvel at the interior atmosphere that rivaled most dealerships that I have been to. The recessed warm LED lighting, white floors, white walls, and contrasting furniture was very modern and made the ambiance very light. It really felt good just to be there. And if there was anything that confirmed that I brought my vehicle to the right place, it was the huge corner to corner wall photo of a black LX surrounded by turning autumn leaves.   Mayda showed me to the waiting area where there were plenty of amenities. A familiar sight of a TV and magazines were presented before me. What wasn't familiar for an auto shop was the row of power outlets above a long marble counter top, specifically there for customers like me who bring their mobile workstations with them to get some work done. Also there was free coffee from one of those machines with a million options, and bottled water from the mini fridge. If you want some fresh air, there's an outdoor seating area on a balcony overlooking Aviation. From the balcony, you also get to slightly peer down and see a wash bay and from what Alex told me, just one of their garages.   While I was waiting, a lively gentleman came in to introduce himself as the owner, Mike. He wanted to check on me and assure my car was in good hands. For a brief moment we kicked it off with a discussion about the new shop, his work, and also just some of things that [a different] Alex, his service technician brought to his attention about my car while it was downstairs in the bay.   When the work was finished, Alex called me over to his desk to give me a very detailed breakdown of everything that service tech Alex found with my car. Alex didn't just tell me that I needed new parts, but he prioritized the items based on importance, how much I wanted to spend, and a timeline in which ideally the work should be done. I really appreciated that. He also let me know I could save additionally money by wearing one of their license plate frames on my GX, which I am now proudly sporting.   All in all, I'm very happy I was recommended to come to Lexology by a friend. This is hands down the nicest auto repair shop I've been to, and way more personal than a dealership. They have a very friendly and skilled team behind the business, and they don't try to hassle you or nickel and dime you on the smaller things. They'll have me as a repeat customer for as long as I own a Toyota product! read more

I recently bought a 2004 Toyota 4 Runner and needed it to find a shop that was local, trust worthy, had quality work, and wasn't over priced. When a I was referred to Lexology by a friend, I didn't expect a shop like this at all! First, I nearly missed the shop because it does not look like an auto shop in any way! Very clean and modern! Looks like the building was just built not too long ago. I was quickly greeted by a gentleman named Alex. He welcomed me with such a bubbly attitude, I knew it was going to be a good experience from there. Stepping foot into the office, I was completely blown away. I felt like I was in more of lounge than a mechanic shop. The office and guest waiting area is far better than most major dealerships I have been to. Something I was not expecting from a small local auto mechanic shop. I let them know that I needed an oil change and noticed I had some clunking going on in the rear of my car. Alex assured that he would take care of it. The car was finished in about an hour. They gave me more than just an invoice, it was a full break down inspection of everything else going on with the car. Then there was the tech that worked on my car. His name was Alex too haha. He gave me the full break down and was very friendly! One thing I liked, I didn't feel pressured in anyway to get any additional services done. I knew what was needed at that point and I felt assured that I can trust them. Both Alex's were very professional; something I look for when taking my car to an auto shop. I took my car in for a service yesterday. Devonte said I was due for a major service. I agreed to this service and asked what the cost was and everything that was included with this service. He called me 2 hours later saying my car was ready but he wanted to save me money ($50) and not do the oil change. I was baffled because that's part of the major service that I was paying for. Then I asked him if they did the tire rotation because it was also part of the service I was paying for and he said no they did not because I needed new tires. That wasn't true! I'm currently at America's Tire (where I bought my tires), and they say that I won't need new tires for another 7,000 miles... and that they see no reason why Lexology didn't rotate these tires! America's Tire is doing the tire rotation that Lexology didn't perform. I had to insist on them actually performing the oil change. Devonte also told me that I needed another service for the fan cleaning because I have a hybrid car. I agreed to the additional service. I'm so frustrated that I paid Lexology over $655 for services they didn't even do. I will not be a returning customer! read more

Great shop! My only recommendation would be to secure the repair costs and if ur offered a "discount" make sure it is off the original stated cost of repair. There's even a outdoor patio for you to enjoy the nice Manhattan Beach breeze. Customer service- TOP NOTCH. Free drinks, WiFi, and very comfortable waiting area. Alex was very friendly and welcoming. He came to me in the waiting area to review the results of my break check as well as approval for a new A/C filter and windshield wipers. Getting ready to move so I got new tires and took my Tacoma to Lexology for an alignment, an oil change, and a road trip once over. The Lexology team noticed some radiator and cowling issues. I had just had the radiator replaced at a Toyota dealership! I called the dealership and they told me they were "too busy" to call me back. Pressed for time Alex and the team replaced what needed replacing and provided me with enough documentation to battle the Toyota Extended Warranty folks against the crappy job the dealership did. That or they just like my ride and so have serviced it appropriately though this can't be the case per all of their consistently glowing reviews. They've serviced my Lexus NX 300 F Sport twice now and the experience has been so painless and honest that it's warranted this review. That I can go in and get out of there in due time without questioning the services rendered or the billed amount, that the successful output is so quiet, that the car is always ready within a reasonable time, deserves all the acclaim. I love my 2005 SC430 Lexus and I take excellent care of it. I used to take it into the dealership but lost confidence in their pricing and diagnostics. I was fortunate to hear about Lexology and they have done an excellent job for me. As my car getting old, I take it to Lexology each year, usually April/May for a inspection and they provide me a list of issues. Once I obtain the list I sit down with the owner and he assists in prioritizing the work and educates me on how and why, and if need be, shows me my car pointing out the problems. Mike (the owner) is passionate and knowledgeable about the Lexus product. I have faith and confidence that no unnecessary work is performed.
