Bought tickets for their NYE party which was a total scam, they were supposed to come with 2 free drinks but the bartenders told us we had to be there by 9:30pm to receive the drinks. Nothing on the tickets said anything about having to be there by 9:30, and they didn't even scan our tickets for entry. Would not recommend LGs NYE. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Let me keep this short and simple. The bouncers get bored and try to start fights with passerby's for entertainment. I thought the first two times I went it was a fluke, but I have seen it happen FOUR TIMES NOW while waiting in line to get in. I went to LG's with a group of friends. I walked up to the bar, and ordered word for word "a rum and coke, and two tequila shots". The bartender told me he could take care of the bill at the machine so I didn't need to bother signing. Said "Thanks! Give yourself 15%!" As I walked away, I got a notification on my phone that I was charged over $130 from LGs. I walked back up to the bartender, and asked him why he just charged me $130 for a mixed drink and two well shots. He responded "Well, you ordered top shelf liquor." I never asked for top shelf, and he sure didn't pour me top shelf liquor. It was clearly well tequila and rum. I told him that this was ridiculous, and that I wanted to speak to a manager. The bartender got close to me, and said "Do you want me to kick you the f*** out right now? Didn't think so. Just drop it, ok?" I walked away and have not been back since. Popped in here on a Friday afternoon before meeting family for the Immersive Monet exhibit. My husband and I each had a drink and we shared the tater kegs. The drinks were both lovely (an Old Fashioned for him and a Pornstar martini for me) and the kegs (super sized tots) were very tasty. The two dipping sauces were tasty, too. I came here after taking a workshop at Second City. We decided to sit out in the patio since it was a nice day. The waitress was nice and the food came out super quick. We all had the ultimate grilled cheese that had caramelized onions, tomatoes, candied bacon, and four cheese on parmesan sourdough bread. It was served with crispy French fries. Yum! This is the best grilled cheese ever! The sandwich was so cheesy and the bread had a good crunch. Nice touch with the onions and bacon. Plus the fries were very addicting. read more

I came here last week on a Friday around 9pm after our Beach Volleyball win! Let's start off with the good. The place is very very cool as it has a vintage feel of an Irish pub. The library in the back is very neat. I didn't order food, but some of my friends did. The Grilled Cheese with a side of tomato soup looked amazing and she said it was pretty good. Another pro is that they gave me a very hefty pour of Buffalo Trace when I asked for it neat. Also, they have a solid draft list. Last pro is that the DJ was awesome with playing 90s hits and old school R&B! Onto the cons. We were seated right away for a table of 7, but we only had 4 as the other members of our party went home quickly to change clothes. I don't know if they were waiting for our full party to arrive, but a server never came around to take our order for at least drinks after they poured us waters. So they knew we were there. I had to go up to the bartender to ask for a waiter to serve us after waiting for about 20 mins. It wasn't even busy and that's just bad business. Around midnight it was packed as the Friday Night Party crowd stumbled in. Our waiter came around and told us that he was closing out and going home and told us it was last call. I was like what the heck, what bar doesn't have a wait staff for tables when it's hopping? So we all literally closed out and left as we didn't want to have to fight the crowd at the bar. I mean shutting down the kitchen at midnight makes sense. But not having waiters taking drink orders? I watch too much John Taffer on Bar Rescue and it seems like common sense to know that is not good for business. Overall, LG's is a good place to come and party and eat some food. Great place in Old Town to sit outside for brunch and people watch too on this lovely street. The patio is dog friendly, which we truly appreciated, and while the brunch menu was limited during the July 4th week the food options were still pretty varied and we appreciated the extended holiday drink specials. Our pups appreciated the water bowl and doggie treats too! Inside the décor is very classic but modern looking with different light fixtures and wall decorations. The rich dark wood makes it feel like an old Irish pub but the lighting makes it appear new and fresh. We ordered the mimosa for 4 with cranberry juice and it arrived with flowers and oranges floating in the large fishbowl-like glass. Such a pretty drink! There were also a variety of beer specials on the menu. We tried two different eggs Benedict dishes which were very good and the cheese curds and brussel sprouts were delicious as shareable appetizers. The only reasons this wasn't a 5 star experience for me was the price seemed high for the portion of food you get in the brunch dishes and I would have liked a little more variety in the food to choose from. Also, the mimosa seemed a tad weak on the champagne, but was still a tasty drink. We found a hair in one of the sauces. But on the rare occasion this happens when I'm out, I typically don't freak out about this because I have long hair and there's always a possibility it could have been one of mine. The service here was outstanding and our water glasses kept filled as well as our table kept cleared of dishes as soon as we finished. Serving was clearly a team effort but everyone we encountered was excellent and very customer focused. read more

For some reason there is a Korean flair to a few dishes and it is awesome and amazing. The Galbi wings were so good. Their food was just all around very flavorful and tasty. The drink menu (beers on draft and can) was HUGE and the pages of whiskey, bourbon and rye were overwhelming in a good way. We can't wait to come back. We stopped by after we purchased a home off Wells and are beyond thrilled this place exists. Great service, excellent patio, fair priced food and drinks... keep up the great work. There are few times that I say, bar food exceeded my expectations, but alas. LG's was picked at random for an early lunch because we were in the area. We walked passed the door and smelled the food, the rest is history. For brunch we ordered the BLT that is topped with grilled chicken and a breakfast burger, with a side of mimosas of course! Came here on a busy Saturday after we left a few bars and brunch. I ordered a Malibu Baybreeze and the waitress had no idea what it was I had to ask for it twice and then go over what the ingredients were. A Malibu Baybreeze is a very common cocktail so that Had me shocked that she had no idea what it was. We were a group of 10 and we did get our drinks very quickly even though the The bar was very crowded for a Saturday afternoon. We chose to host our company networking event at LG's on Friday evening. They went above and beyond to make sure our event ran smoothly and provided the best customer service. We had a designated area for our event of 30 attendees. I had preordered some plates to share and our event's bartender, Britt, paced the food to come out throughout the evening. Food was replenished in a timely manner alongside any additional plates we needed. The staff was quick to clean up any used plates and glasses to keep our space tidy. Britt did a wonderful job making sure everyone was attended to with their beverages and continued to check in with me throughout the evening to make sure we had everything we needed. Brand new place in a great location on Wells Street. They did an incredible job with the interior design, especially the design of the bar and the two semi-private rooms in the back (wine cellar and library). I don't want to be too critical since it is so new, but I think this place might struggle to find their identity. They priced their food/drinks similar to The Vig next door, which means about $1-3 too much for drinks and $2-$5 too much for food items. Some examples of this would be $6 for a side of fries, $19 for a chicken pot pie, $18 for fish and chips, etc. Now if they truly execute on the food items and keep them at a high quality, then perhaps this will be somewhat justified. But I will have to try a few more of the items before I make up my mind on the food. Back to the identity, it is an Irish Pub that that is built to be upscale, but was also blasting hip-hop and electronic music with really dark lighting. If they want to take some of the overflow night time crowd from Vig, Benchmark, and others then that makes sense, but if they are shooting for an actual Irish pub feel then that will need to be adjusted. Overall I am really excited that this place has finally opened in great spot in Old Town, but I will need to visit a few more times before I can determine if this will be a regular stop for me. read more

We tried this place for brunch on whim because Kanela Breakfast Club was busy. We walked in and it was completely empty, which was an immediate red flag. I ordered the avocado toast, and it was extremely inedible. The avocado toast with drenched in balsamic vinegar, and the eggs tasted like powdered eggs. I've been a longtime fan of Lady Gregory's in Andersonville and more recently, Wilde in Lakeview. I was so excited to see this Lady Gregory's open up in Old Town! But be warned: it's definitely more bar than restaurant. I came here for dinner on a weekend when I knew that the gluten free artichoke dip would cheer me up after a less-than-awesome day. Good news: the artichoke dip is on the menu here! Bad news: that's about all I recognized. The menu was just one page with maybe 15 items at most (including appetizers) so pickings were slim. Lady Gregory's and Wilde have nearly identical menus, so it was weird to see things so scaled back here! Also weird: this place was practically empty -- spare 10 or so very rowdy 20-something boys at the bar, sloshing beers and "cheers"-ing over a sports game. On a street with more sports bars than I can count, the newly-titled "LG's" seemed confused. The emptiness on a weekend night spoke to that. And for me, the atmosphere and small menu left something to be desired, and I probably won't be back. NOTE: just a few months back, signs outside read "Lady Gregory's" but now it's all branded as "LG's Bar." I was really confused trying to find the place, but they're one in the same. read more

I was sitting at a table, by myself, waiting for my friends to come back from the bathroom and I was kicked out for no reason. I was on my phone, minding my own business, and two bouncers came up to me and told me that they have been WATCHING ME ALL NIGHT and that I needed to leave.
