Did a good job with gluten free that was safe for me to eat. The tomato basil soup and cheddar artichoke dip were amazing! But the bread served with the dip was beyond burnt and since it was delivered via Grubhub there was nothing I could do, so it ended up in the garbage. And who sends a fork and knife, but no spoon with soup and an appetizer? Was back in Chicago to visit and stopped by my old neighborhood and wanted to check out the restaurants/bars that were new since I moved away. My server was named Angela and she was super hilarious/informative . Everything looked so good on the menu so I was overwhelmed on what to pick and Angela was beyond helpful at picking out what to order. She recommended the Scottish Salmon and it was AMAZING! I always pop into the Lady Gregory's when I'm in Andersonville, and I'm so happy they now have a location in Old Town. I recently went for lunch and the service was very very nice. I came here on 1/18/24 with my friend for her birthday. We were waiting for the comedy club down the street to be open, so we had about 2 hours to kill. We've never been to this bar before, and I really loved the ambiance! There's plenty of room between tables, and the booth we were seated in was really comfy. The pictures on the wall are fun, the drinks were good, and they even had trivia going while we were there. My one complaint was our waitress took a very long time to greet us, and she seemed slightly annoyed the whole time. She hardly made eye contact, her answers were short, and in the two hours we were there, we saw her three times and only got two drinks. It was a special occasion, and it really bummed the mood to feel like we were such a bother. It was busy when we came in but, our server specifically, had more than enough time to hang out at other tables or the server station by the bar than talk to us. By the time we needed to leave, the only way we could get her attention was to stand up and start putting on our coats and try to make eye contact with her. I paid our tab on a handheld card machine while she stared at me which felt extremely weird. I tipped 20% only because the option on the screen was 20%, 25%, or 30%. I've been a server for years, and I would never stare someone down while they were tipping me.... Very weird and uncomfortable. Ok, I can only answer for this sandwich and this one time I ordered it, but the Blackened Chicken Club was absolutely amazing. Very well maybe the best bar food item I have ever ordered, definitely too 5. The bread was exquisite, the Mayo amazing and the chicken was evenly distributed to not leave the large chunk of chicken most sandwiches do. Again this is only the sandwich everything else was meh. Good addition to the neighborhood. Its the same owner as Wilde bar in lakeview which i also like. I got the eggs benedict which was good, I liked the chive in the hollandaise. I was here for a private party last week in the back room, and we had a lovely time! Our server whose name I cannot pronounce, but a picture is attached was exemplary! He presented as truly interested in our cause there, did a great job interacting with everybody and building people up, was incredibly attentive, and really set a nice positive vibe. Omg! I thought it couldn't get better than the original Lady Gregory's but it DID!!! We sat in the library and felt 'part' of the buzz but it was quiet and we could talk easily- kinda tough on a Friday night at a busy restaurant! The crab cake is out of this world. The Korean Tacos were exceptional. We also ordered the cheese curds and I ate more of those than I should have but I couldn't stop! Anyway, great service, fast and friendly. Waiter was attentive! Drinks were fabulous! Such a cool, fun bar area! I will visit this again with clients because it's just far enough from downtown to make it perfect for a relaxing lunch!!! LG's Bar was a fun little time. For being a Saturday afternoon in Chicago and only took us about 15 minutes to grab a seat for 10 people. However my only concern is that my wife ordered in Malibu Baybreeze drink and the waitress had no idea what that was and asked us how to make it. The waiter also disappear for some time and I get it it's a busy Saturday afternoon but still some customer service is better than nothing. I do recommend this place Especially when it comes to football weekends but I do recommend going earlier in the day when service is probably a little bit better. The food here is delicious - this review is about the service. Let's start with the good - food. They have dietary friendly menus which is amazing - both gluten free and vegetarian. Highly recommend coming here - it's pretty overpriced but pretty tasty. In terms of service, they suck. We came here at an odd hour - around 3:30pm on a Saturday. So maybe that was the problem. But we sat at our table for 15 minutes and nobody came by. We were starving so we just moved to the bar and ordered there. If I wasn't so hungry I would've walked out, hands down. So this was their first day open and my sister and I wandered right in and were greeted pleasantly and seated immediately. This place is beautifully decorated with high end touches. The front doors were all open wide for a nice airy feel. The staff seemed knowledgeable and well trained. Jenny was our waitress and did a fabulous job, she knew the menu well and made great recommendations. The beer and cider selection was outstanding. We had the artichoke dip and Brussel sprout small dishes did they were fabulous. We were here for lunch so each had salads, both has good portions and extremely tasty and fresh. I stopped by Lady Gregory's for brunch on a Sunday afternoon and overall, I really enjoyed the experience! My boyfriend and I made reservations for 11am but you certainly don't need them. The interior is an upscale Irish pub with a bar in the middle. We got to choose where we sat since it was pretty empty so we ended up at a booth along the wall. Our waiter was very friendly and personable! He was open to giving us suggestions as he said he'd tried nearly everything on the menu. I ordered the Maple Bacon Pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs and potatoes while my boyfriend got the chicken and waffles. We also got the Champagne Punch Bowl and coffee for drinks. Our food came out rather quick, I was pleasantly surprised! The pancakes were pretty good but a little soggy due to the pancakes being covered in the sauce. The bacon and pecans added a nice touch of sweet and salty, a favorite combo of mine! The eggs and potatoes were yummy and I like how they kept them on separate plates. Usually, a lot of places overcook the eggs and they're a bit crunchy but these were perfectly cooked! The fish bowl was huge, we didn't end up saving it but definitely a good bang for your buck if you're ordering a ton of mimosas. The only reason I deducted a star was because the cup that my coffee came in was dirty. It looks like there was dried food on the outside of the cup and I could still see a food stain along the inside of the cup. Nothing big, but still wasn't very appetizing. Overall, the food is pretty good and the atmosphere is very laid back and enjoyable for Sunday brunch. I definitely recommend checking out Lady Gregory's if you're in the area! read more

Lady Gregory's is a cool, laid back spot with a speak easy feel. I've been here a few times, some when it was busy, others when it was slow, but I've always had a great time. One of the bartenders, Jessie is new to Chicago, but not a stranger to making delicious cocktails. Besides, their extensive menu, he can create a cocktail you'll love, just by asking what kind of liquor you want. He'll hook you up! So, if you're looking for a place to catch up with friends, enjoy a nice drink, all for a reasonable price, this is the place for you. Next Level Pub Food - LG's is a quality casual spot to grab a bite in the heart of Old Town. I appreciate that they take pub food to a new level in that the selection and quality are definitely better than you would expect. Personally, I love the cheddar artichoke dip and Mac n Cheese. The salad options are great also! The atmosphere is darker with some TV's - could be good for watching sports. It definitely gets rowdy on the weekends, and I imagine it would be a great option to sponsor your local sports team. There seems to be many teams each time I'm here on weekday evenings. The food is fine, nothing great but nothing bad - everyone was happy with what they got. My friend and I were looking for a place to go for food and drinks. I suggested we go to LG's in Old Town on Wells, as I have been there a few different times and enjoyed my time there. We walk in around 8pm on a Friday night and it was fairly empty. I was a little weary and suggested that we try another place, because I was a little put off by a place being that empty on a Friday evening. Since my friend had never been there and since I recommended it, he thought we should just stay put, so we did. I must admit, I am a novice bourbon drinker. From the menu, I ordered a turkey burger and ended up having 3 drinks. Over the course of my meal, I ordered (2) Four Roses and (1) Buffalo Trace, both on the rocks. Respectively, they were listed as $7/11 and $8/12 (single/double). As I mentioned before, I am a novice bourbon drinker. I ordered all 3 of my drinks on the rocks. And until I received the check, I did not know that if you ordered an alcohol "on the rocks" that also meant it would be a double...I'm not entirely sure this is true, but I will take it as fact because that is what the bartender told me. Please correct me if this is wrong! The meal was fine and the drinks were tasty. My friend and I both enjoyed our food and drinks. He ordered "Sean's Old Fashioned" and a Margarita. Our bartender was Sam and she couldn't have been nicer. She was very welcoming and took care of us in such a friendly manner. Everything was great up until the time I received the check. The Four Roses came up as $15 each, as opposed to the $11 on the menu. And the Buffalo Trace rang up at $13, as opposed to the $12 on the menu. After I questioned the pricing, our bartender Sam advised to me that she had poured the Four Roses Single Barrel, which was indeed $15 per glass on the rocks. As mentioned before, I am new to the Bourbon game, so I accepted that as a wash and learning opportunity. I then asked, "Well, why did the Buffalo Trace ring up as $13 instead of the $12 on the menu?" Sam also agreed that it was a little odd, considering that the menu clearly showed $12. She went to inquire with the "Manager", Sean. This is where my biggest complaint about my experience began. She came back and said "Sorry, my manager said the price changed and the menu wasn't updated yet.". I then asked to speak with the "Manager". She went back and asked him to come speak with me and she returned and simply took a dollar bill out of the tip jar and gave it to me. WHAT A COWARD! What kind of manager has his employees clean up his dirty work for him!? All he had to do was come over, apologize and say that the menu wasn't updated and then give me a dollar back. Instead, he had his bartender do his job of providing customer service. I thanked Sam for everything she did to take care of us that night. By the way, "Sean's Old Fashioned" is named after the "Manager". What a selfish, narcasitic person he must be! It's just a basic Old Fashioned with nothing extra or unique, probably mirroring his personality. I will never step foot in LG's again, after having been there many times with friends and family. If LG's ownership or Sean, himself, has any sense of customer service, you can reach out to me to discuss my displeasure further. I called twice after I left to discuss my experience and the phone just kept ringing with now answer or no option for a voicemail Thanks for nothing and I hope this influences other people to choose one of the other many great establishments on Wells Street. There are much better options in the neighborhood than LG's. This must explain why the place was empty at 8pm on a Friday night! read more

So, I actually didn't eat there BUT about a week back I lost my purse during a night out (we've all been there, am I right, ladies?) After searching the car we Ubered in, the apartment we were at and what I thought was everywhere in between I had given up hope. Just this week, though, the AGM of Lady Gregory's (JESSE!!!) found me on Facebook and told me he had my purse waiting in the restaurant safe. Everything was in my purse when I went into the restaurant (which if I wasn't in a rush I totally would have eaten at, cool ambiance and smelled like tasty food!) And after tirelessly trying to give Jesse some of the money that he (or any employee with access to the safe) could have easily taken, I finally retreated. So if you're reading this: go to Lady Gregory's for the wonderful staff that works there, and stay for what I assume is awesome food. THANKS AGAIN, JESSE! read more

Fantastic new addition to Old Town. We adored our server (Mujo) and thought the food was great. I am a big fan of Irish Food and this place rocks. Love this bar but the guys working the door at night need a reality check. Never met such rude bouncers, it was almost as if they were getting off to being rude to the people in line. Started a fight between guys, would let full groups in except for 1 person on multiple occasions then laugh while they waited in the cold. Let people blatantly cut the line. I love the food here and always enjoyed the Andersonville location. We happened to have a birthday dinner across the street and wanted a drink after. It was 9pm and we saw LGs was empty. Five women in their late thirties come in at 9pm to a large bar with about a dozen people in it and I felt like I got strip searched. At first we thought the girl was joking and then realized she was being serious. And to LGs the girl was very nice and probably just following what she was told to do. All our bags were searched, the birthday presents were taken and even my bagged leftovers were taken....in an empty bar!! We sat down and felt so awkward we left and spent our hundreds at a bar next door. You can go to a Michelin restaurant and this does not happen. After waiting for 15 min the door security ended up just seating us. Service was extremely slow. We ordered drinks and they came after appetizer. Came here for drinks. The interior design is super nice. In the back it's kind of like a lounge. Front end is your typical bar. Great for taking pictures! I wanted to take pictures but the tables were occupied. Drinks were reasonably priced ariund$9-12 for cocktails. I ordered a pumpkin spiced drink which was warm. It was really nice twist because typically most drinks are cold. I enjoyed the warm pumpkin spice on this cold Chicago day! Great location, lots of Pokémon stops in the area. Street parking is pay box. They accommodated our large group. I didn't order food. So I can't comment on that. read more

It took about 25 minutes for a server to come over, so not a great start. I then realized, after confirming with the server and manager, that I could not eat the burger I had ordered because the bun touches things that gluten may touch (I have Celiac and cannot have any kind of cross contamination). They did not offer me anything off of the regular menu or provide me with any other options. Later on, I realized they had offered the regular/non-brunch menu to almost every other table around us. We chose to come to LG's for brunch yesterday BECAUSE of the full gluten free menu and we had had such a positive experience before. I told the bartender that their pricing must be off and he showed me the menu, and to his surprise, it was not on it. I showed him the link from Binny's showing the regular price of the bottle. He then got the manager and I went through the same process with her. As I explained how they were charging a ridiculous amount for this drink, the bartender intervened and tried to tell me that, "when you go to a club, that's not what you pay." I asked if it is normal to charge 2.5x the cost of the bottle for one drink. Unfortunately there was no resolution and I left to go next door to the Vig. Tried going here after a show at Second City. The bouncer immediately turned us away saying that someone smelled of alcohol. There was another couple we didn't know at the entrance with us and the bouncer refused entry to all four of us. We were all so flabbergasted by the refusal. None of us were acting inebriated, nor had any of us had more than two drinks before trying to get into this place (we had all come from Second City). We were happy to go spend our money elsewhere.
