We have had good meals before here but did a carry out on a Monday and the food was terrible. We contacted the restaurant by email and got no response. The fish and chips is advertised as Sea Bass and it was definitely not sea bass - it was cod or haddock and it was very chewy and fishy smelling. The 'double' veggie burger was so thin it should not be advertised as a double burger - the bun was very stale. We will not go there again. read more

Excited to try this new place and drove out of our way to get here. Nice young lady greeted us at entry and said it would be about a 5 minute wait. We decided to get a drink at the bar where we waited as the bartender looked over glassware and chatted with another customer for 10 minutes. He never did walk down to take our order nor did he serve anyone else-just chatting. We got up and walked back to the front and waited outside for another 10 min. There were a lot of empty tables. The food was good, however, the portion sizes were very small and the service was completely unacceptable. We did not get all the appetizers we ordered and it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Came hungry and left hungry. This was really very disappointing. Nice decor does not make up for bad food. I ordered an Asian salmon and was specific that it needed to be medium well. It came and it was TINY and as I ate it it was rare inside. Ordered rice got squash. It was disgusting. really bitter flavor. Got rice it was plain white rice. My friend ordered a grilled chicken caesar salad and the chicken was overcooked. Restaurant manager took hers off the bill and gave us two dessert. Nothing for me. I live in a big development here and many neighbors were there too. I cannot wait to post a negative review on our website. Sometimes it is not about the problem but about how you fix it... Been twice. Lunch food was luke warm but tasty. Brunch was a disaster. Soggy toast, dried out cold sausage, undercooked eggs and a waiter that seemed 1/2 asleep and had a could care less attitude. We used to travel an hour to eat here. Now we could walk there and had expected to make it our regular place. But the noise is deafening because of the cement floors. Their selection of wines was minimal, they've discontinued our favorite dishes and the alternatives we ordered we barely touched. Service was slow considering how empty the restaurant was. 10 of us went for Saturday brunch with bottomless mimosas in mind. Our server was the worst! After taking our order and serving 1 mimosa each she disappeared never to be seen again. Heather the assistant manager assured us she would make things right and brought 2 carafes of mimosas to the table. Our server returned to deliver our checks. She did not advise us that an 18% gratuity was included to each of the checks so most of us tipped this totally incompetent server an additional 20%. After our credit cards were processed we realized she had received 38% tip for the worst possible service. We asked for Heather who apologized profusely and said she would reverse the additional gratuity. Ok fine...fast forward we all just received our credit card bills and yup the additional tip was never corrected by Heather. We are big fans of Libby's and were very happy when they opened in Lakewood Ranch .Our server Stephanie was excellent, an asset to Libby's LWR and the Tableseide Corporation. Shrimp grit brunch meal only came with three shrimp, bacon mixed in grits was raw. Buyer beware - bottomless mimosas only entail wannabe tang orange juice and sparking wine, not cranberry juice. decided to go to Libby's for dinner. great choice as the service (ask for Elysia) was outstanding! tried the orange chicken for the first time - it too was outstanding. cooked perfectly with just the right amount of glaze. we also had the chicken Milanese and the avocado egg rolls. each dish was fresh, appetizing, and plenty for 2 meals. the next table to us also tried the orange chicken and she, too, found her meal to be the perfect blend of flavor and texture- many places cook their orange chicken a bit soggy- not Libby's. just the right crispness... HIGHLY RECOMMEND for those who have not been to LIBBYS!! as a year round resident who likes great service and flavorful food, Libby's is a great choice read more

This is the first Yelp review I have written; as I have never felt the need to write one. I just finished dinning at Libby's at Lakewood Ranch. I was so excited to see Libby's in Lakewood Ranch; as I fondly remember taking my children to Libby's near the hospital when they were small. The waitress was wonderful, but that is the best I can say about the restaurant.The drinks, truffle fries and my husband's entree ( spaghetti and meatballs) were fine, yet my meal was terrible. I ordered the Holiday Special Prime Rib cooked medium rare. I had to not only send it back once, but twice! The first time it looked like shoe leather and the second time it came back, it was so gristly it was inedible. The Zinfandel reeducation tasted like teriyaki sauce not only to myself, but others. The waitress was very apologetic and took the Holiday Special off the bill. She asked if any manager had talked to us and I said, "No, It is OK". After that no manager came by to speak to us. I ordered the Espresso Creme Brûlée, which tasted good, but it was warm almost hot, the "crust" was soupy and the color was like an old mushroom. My opinion...there are so many great restaurants in Lakewood Ranch, I would suggest trying another. read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Libby's and our very attentive server, Nicholas. My favorite Chicken Milanase was delicious, as usual. We also had the Kale Caesar which is always excellent. My husband had one of his favorites, mussels. I was eyeing the avocado egg rolls served at another table, so I will need to try those next time. Our server, a young blonde male (hard to pronounce his name?) was terrible tonight. He came 3 times total to our table. He never asked if we wanted another drink and I had to physically go up to him to ask for another round. Even after I politely spoke to him he still seemed to have no sense in urgency making our experience positive from there. In addition to his service, the pear tortellini is EXTREMELY salty and the ribs I would not suggest as they are incredibly dry. I gave this place 1 star because the meatball appetizer is incredible. Very poor first experience. It was their grand opening weekend. We waited one hour before even being acknowledged by a waiter. My wife loved the ribs. The peppercorn flavored NY Strip was a waste of $35....and they did "comp" it. We will try this place one more time tomorrow evening at 5:30pm. I will let the YELP! community know what we find. First time visit yesterday at approx 4pm ... wait staff basically ignored us for quite some time ... then finally we got a waitress ...she took our drink order 1 blue lagoon , 1 diet soda and 3 waters. About 15-20 mins later got the drinks ... blue lagoon watery and tasteless. The diet soda never came had to ask for it two more times . Finally got food order in ... food was very very good but service is so bad not sure we would go back -------- Ok... update I emailed the manager but never heard back about our first visit ... I think the email you provided was wrong. So here's an update we decided to try your restaurant again we went there on February 5 at approximately 5:15 PM we sat outside and waited approximately 10 minutes while the same waiter (an older gentleman) walked past us twice waiting on the only table that was outside a couple sitting just 5 feet away from me he wouldn't say hello to me or welcome me to the restaurant or bring me a menu or anything I finally went inside and calmly told the hostess that the same waiter and walked by me twice she then said oh yeah we're trying to decide who's going to come to your table I looked over inside the restaurant and saw one other couple dining and about eight waitstaff standing there doing absolutely nothing .... turn out and went and sat back down with my husband about two minutes later a nice young man came out and we waited on us, he was very good but I don't understand that rude waiter you have working for you that walked past is twice . Just say no (at least for now)! I visited twice. First time my soup was cold and I sent it back twice. The food presentation on the third trip was pretty bad. Second visit; The same server remembered me and made sure my soup was hot. I ordered premium liquor and it was served in a soap ringed glass. I get that can happen when a place is busy, but this one was not busy at all. I also ordered a hot sandwich (French Dip). When my sandwich arrived, the meat was very rare (bleeding) and the whole sandwich was cold, as were the side of fries. On the second trip the meat was very well done and full of fat. The meat was thick, very well done, tough and would have made good tire patch material. Again the fries were cold. My server was very attentive and professional, I asked to see the manager. I waited about 15 minutes while she finished a new employee interview, Then I waited again while she conversed with her employees, friends and left the room. This new restaurant is in desperate need of tenured management and some serious culinary aptitude. Quality control and customer importance are an issue there. Hopefully it's just growing pains for Libby's but without competent leadership and some immediate training I fear this store will end up as just another neighborhood McDonalds. Arrived for an online reservation to find out I made it at the Sarasota Libbys, and the place was packed! The host was courteous and worked to fit us in with just a very reasonable wait....all with a smile. Service was the best it's been....friendly and attentive. This restaurant was a shocker for me, as I experienced my first awful, unbelievable service, or lack thereof, and food. I pass by there quite often, so I went in for dinner as I was starving. I sat down at the table on the east side of the front door, outside. I had 3 waiters pass right by me for over 20 mins. until a server from another section asked if he could get me something to drink. I ordered hot tea. About 15 mins. later, a black man with what looked like a bird's nest on top of his head, brought the tea to me. He said he'd have to go get his pad. I told him not to as I only wanted one thing as it was easy to remember and he said, "ohhh, ...." I ordered the salmon with some kind of rice under it and a vegetable....just as it came on the menu. I waited for 35 minutes before I saw that waiter (?) again and that's when he plopped the plate down in front of me and walked off. He didn't ask if there was anything else he could bring me ...nada. I took a bite of the food and it was cold - all of it. So, I sat there waiting for him or someone to come by to correct the problem, but no one did. After trying to get someone's attention for about 20 mins., I took out my credit card and just waved it in the air. Finally, a waiter from another section asked me if I wanted to pay....duh! He went inside and got the black man and he came out to me and didn't ask if everything was okay or anything, he just took my credit card and left with it, yet returning another 10-15 mins. He NEVER asked how my meal was, if he could get me anything else.....nada. After I received my receipt, I went over to Publix and bought a piece of cake for dessert. I thought it would be a nice place to eat and I could relax and enjoy myself, but it was like something out of a movie. I wrote to the restaurant's Manager/Owner about the awful experience and have never heard back from him. I sent him a follow-up letter and have had no reply. I'm really surprised that I haven't heard from the owner, as I have friends who own restaurants and they really care about customer relations. read more

Is the once wonderful Libby's going the way of many of the Sarasota and Manatee County Restaurants? The last two visits we made were disappointing. The food was not consistent with how it was made or tasted. Sauces were thin and watery and ranged between being almost flavorless on one dish and extremely spicy on another. It may be time to go elsewhere for a while and see if Libby's can ride out its apparent problems that n the kitchen!! read more
