I hired GS Appliance Repair to fix my dryer, which was spinning but not producing heat…read more Before the service even began, there was a scheduling issue -- we set up an appointment time, but he couldn't make it due to being tied up with another complicated repair. I should have gone with someone else at that point, but he offered a discount to reschedule the next day, so I agreed. The service call cost $150 (paid in cash) after the discount. He was in and out in under 15 minutes and says he replaced the hi-limit thermal cutoff. The dryer produced heat briefly that day, but when I first used it a few days later, the problem returned -- spinning with no heat, exactly as before. When I contacted him about the issue, he explained that a "proper repair" would require a full internal diagnostic, airflow inspection, and cleaning -- work that was not done during the first visit. He said this type of complete repair would typically cost $250-$350, and eventually, he offered to apply a credit from the first visit and complete the work for an additional $100 (bringing my total to $250). My concern is that the initial visit addressed only an immediate symptom without diagnosing the root cause. For $150, I expected a thorough evaluation, not just a quick part replacement. A proper eval and repair should have included checking airflow, testing all thermostats and safety components, and internal cleaning from the start. I declined the additional service and requested a partial refund, which he agreed to provide. As of today, I have not received it. In hindsight, I should not have paid in cash. [Edit: After this review was posted, I received the refund.] If you hire this service, I recommend clarifying upfront exactly what diagnostic work will be included and what the total cost might be if additional repairs are needed.

The phone service was....well....ugly. Unprofessional. And unable to fulfill the most basic of requirements, such as emailing a quote. Going through Appliance Guy was a breath of fresh air. Aiden, who looked at the dishwasher, spent his time thoughtfully analyzing the issue and applying his years of experience to pinpoint the issue. While CCA wanted to replace the disposal at an exorbitant fee for labor. Contrast to Aidan, who didn't think there was a hardware problem, but rather clogging due to us using the wrong type of detergent and rinse aid. He gave further pointers and how we can resolve this ourselves. If it ends up being hardware, their work has a 30 day guarantee, so it would be covered under the original service trip. I'm in a special circumstance, and having my dishwasher down even a few days is highly challenging for our family. Going through CCA cost me now at least 3 weeks, and who knows how long until I would have gotten an updated estimate so I could properly file though my home appliance warranty company. With Aidan, I'm going to be up and running tomorrow (and maybe even tonight, if we could run out to get replacement detergent).
