I typically take my vehicle to an…read moreindependent mechanic due to cost, but I chose the Toyota dealership because I expected an accurate diagnosis and repair done correctly the first time. After two days in and a $200 diagnostic fee, I was informed that my aftermarket stereo--installed and functioning without issue for 15 years--was causing electrical feedback and was responsible for the problem. I was also told that the issue could not be repaired. During my discussion with the technician, the explanation was obvious he didn't know what he was talking about. I took my truck to a stereo shop. They quickly determined that the actual problem was a failing starter. Once the starter was replaced, the electrical issue was fixed. Two months later I still haven't had the problem.
