(like what happens at the oil changing places and many other mechanics) He found and fixed a problem we had been having on our Honda for about three years. If I could, I would give Tony 10 stars. As a female, I can't tell you how it feels to take your car somewhere and get taken advantage of. I had taken my car to Firestone on Monroe Rd. in Matthews to have my AC checked out. They did a recharge, but within a week it was blowing out hot air. I couldn't get back to see them that week. Dan Hogan, owner of Buster's Transmission, doesn't fix AC's but was able to check and confirm that the compressor was working. A few days later, I got back over to Firestone. They spent 1 hour checking out my car and came back with a quote for almost $1800 for a new compressor. I called them out on that and went home still without AC. I got on yelp and came across Tony and called him up to see if he could take a look at it. He was able to squeeze me in on a Friday afternoon. I spent 3 hours waiting for my car, but he confirmed what Dan had seen and that it was in fact charging. He did another recharge in addition to replacing a very dirty filter which was never mentioned at Firestone. Since then, I haven't had any issues and I will be back to give him more business. When I spoke to Tony on the phone, I was quick to trust him because he told me, "I treat every car that comes in here like it's my mother's and like it has a camera under the hood". I wonder how many times Firestone has pulled a fast one on me. Trust your gut and always get a 2nd opinion. Go see Tony or Dan. I trust them both and know that I will never be taken advantage of by them when it comes to my car maintenance or repairs. On another note, Firestone sent me a survey after my 2nd visit. I laid it all out there for them and within 24 hours received a call from the store manager. He stated that the information was relayed to me incorrectly and that the compressor was on it's way to going out and needing to be replaced. He refunded my $20 that they had charged me to check it out and tried to reassure me that it was a mistake and had been addressed. I can reassure you that I will never, ever take my car back there and will also be leaving a review on their yelp page. read more

I was referred to Tony Killman by another shop who recommended Tony because of his knowledge of imports and especially the Honda. Tony went over the Honda Pilot and discussed the safety issues that he saw and requiring attention. Then we went over the performance issues. After reviewing the needs of this car, Tony gave me an estimate of the various problems with the car. His time schedule for the work was perfect, especially since this was my daughter's car and she needed for work. Once Tony had completed the work, I could not believe the way the car performed. It idled perfectly, had great acceleration, and the steering was back to the way it should have been. I will continue to return for any work on Hannah's car as well as my own. Tony Killman is probably as good as it gets in the car service business. I feel like he is honest and straight-forward. I've taken my cars to him twice now and his repair work was prompt and I thought his pricing was very reasonable. One time, I went in thinking it was one thing and they found it was something else that was less expensive. The other time it was a little more - but my point is, I feel like I'm getting honest information. But each time the pricing was affordable. You can't ask for more than that. I appreciate working with a service team that is eager to help and also seems to work on your car the same way if it was the car of someone in their own family. Finding a respectable, honest mechanic with reasonable rates is tough to find. I have had an air conditioner repaired and was $300 cheaper than anywhere else. Two other places I had taken it to told me that the whole compressor was bad, but Killman simply replaced the clutch and it was good as new. Another time, I had a shake in the front end. I was afraid it would be a CV joint or bearing, but I was told by them that it was a bad tire (which ended up being true) and they refused to take any payment for the diagnostic. They simply told me to let them do work on our vehicles in the future. You bet I will! I won't go anywhere else. read more
