Came here for some morning food for our road trio. The ambiance is a quaint small cafe with 2 tables inside and outdoor seating. It gets busy so service can be a little slow at times but they are very friendly and the food is worth it. I got the caramel macchiato and told them to make it like Starbucks LOL, they did and it was way better than Starbucks. I feel like in a sense, I do live off of this place and I still stand behind the 5-star review but I have dabbled a bit into the food now, so here is my updated review: 1. The sandwiches are just simply delicious made from simple ingredients. I've tried one with spicy chorizo and another that was a spin on a BLT except the lettuce is replaced by mixed greens and you'd think that is just highfalutin but that is not the case. 2. Coffee. There are a few places to get coffee on the block which I've sampled them all but this place takes the cake. 3. Cookies - I enjoy them. 4. NO SOUP IN SUMMER! I just wanted to say that and really, there is no soup here in the summer. 5. There are many options for those who are vegetarian, vegan and prefer gluten free. 6. I haven't done it but I do believe GrubHub is an option at times. Debbie, who owns and runs the place is the antithesis of the pretentious, too hip coffee shop and this place is very much the epitome of the friendly, neighborhood cafe that serves the palate and also the pocket of the local business many wish to have. read more

Wish I would've came here earlier! It's a super quirky interior and the owner is very nice and talkative (if you're open to talking!). I ordered a chill brew with irish cream syrup and a splash of coconut milk and it was perfect! I also got the grilled egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on a croissant which came out super yummy. The sandwich was assembled and grilled after I ordered it, so it does take some time but not too long and totally worth it for the difference in taste vs a premade sandwich. I can't really review the food because I wouldn't eat here with a ten foot pole. Walked in to what can be best described as a scene from hoarders. It was completely filled with garbage and junk and absolutely filthy. There was literally junk stacked along all the walls so there was only a small path the to the counter and the tables. So unless you would go to one of the homes on the show hoarders and allow them to serve you breakfast there you probably don't want to eat here. read more

Horrible service. We waited over an hour for three breakfast sandwiches. When i asked for an update, the owner did not even know what we ordered and admitted they were serving customers that came in after us. The owner (woman with gray hair) was argumentative and frazzled. I asked for a refund when everyone in my party got their sandwich before me (i ordered first). As we left, she blamed her employee of three days for the poor service, when the issue seemed to be that she had no system for tracking orders. One of the cutest and community grounded spots in Renton. Was craving a nice bagel and snack before heading out and about on a Saturday. Picked up a cheese bagel and the beautiful green pistachio muffin. The pistachio muffin is life changing. Seeing it in pictures doesn't do it justice. It is moist, bright green, and the perfect size. Was so filling and tasty. Space had good energy and the person working the register was friendly, genuine, and sweet as there was a toasting process for my bagel. First time here after having to find a breakfast spot to stop by for a quick bite. Hours say open at 9am, walked in DOOR WIDE OPEN at 9:41am to the owner having a meeting. Not only was it awkward but the fact that they were having a meeting during business hours is unprofessional and the lack of sympathy they had when they had to tell us they weren't completely open yet when they "usually are", wasn't quite in a friendly way either. I went here on my lunch break. Took 30 min to make one penni. I only had a 30 min lunch. Took it back to eat at my desk as soon as I opened it a very long grey hair In my sandwich. I should have just walked out when I went in, the place is like a scene from hoarders. Very packed and very dirty. Her counter where she makes the food was covered in old food. The hubby and I were looking for a new place to try for breakfast and Yelpers say this place has good breakfast sandwiches. Yelp shows they open at 9am but Google shows 10am so we called to confirm. The woman who answered the phone indicated that they are, indeed, open at 10am. Place is very cluttered. Not a place to sit. Food is frozen, wrapped in foil, and stuffed to brim of freezer. Uses ice from ice trays that were sitting on top of freezer food. The ice is exposed every time she opens the freezer door. She used that ice for our coffee which is was absolutely horrible and waited like 30 minutes for one sandwich. Dishes everywhere. Rare gem in downtown Renton if you ever find yourself there. They can make anything your heart desires. With a series of flavor shots to choose from, four milk options, and coffee/expresso, anything is possible! They even let you choose a cute mug to put your drink in. I have been to the Liberty Café three times so far. I say "so far" because I am definitely going to go back. My first visit was with a friend and my next two visits were by myself. I'm the kind of person who sometimes likes to do things alone. Sitting down with a good cup of coffee and an interesting book is one of those things. Something I like about the Liberty Café is the fact that whether you are going alone or bringing someone with you, you don't feel awkward being there. If you are alone, Mike, the owner, is more likely to come over for a bit of a chat. It's cool though, he's a very friendly guy. Don't be put off by his slightly interesting appearance. The Liberty Café hosts a large variety of people, which is another reason to like it. There is a sense of welcome and community that places like Starbucks are missing. Drinks are served in a mug if you let Mike know you are going to be staying. Cardboard is available if you are getting it on the go. It is important to note that CREDIT/DEBIT is NOT ACCEPTED. Cash only. Yesterday, Mike was so happy it was sunny outside that he gave me my drink for free, which I thought was nice. I offered to pay and he refused to accept it. So thank you Mike! :-) I don't order fancy drinks--I stick to a basic Americano, and so I can't say if he makes a mean white mocha. All I know is that the service is good, the people are friendly, and the pastries are fresh. Things I remember about being in the PacNW; small, local, coffee shops with an artistic vibe . Our barista, Mike was super chill--soft spoken, kind & welcoming. Great service and outstanding coffee. We ordered the chai latte & cappuccino. The chai was so freaking delicious. The cappuccino had the right amount of foam, brew was strong, yet smooth, no sweeteners needed, plus I got a mohowk looking foam design. There is open mic night & movie night & seem to be a supporter of other local businesses & artists, which I thought was great! We'll definitely return to support this local business. read more

I met my friend Gary for coffee the other morning. I live in Renton and confess I've driven by a 1000 times. I've meant to stop by, but haven't. This morning I'm glad we did. It's a tiny little indie place in old downtown Renton. I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment. They were open about 20 minutes when I arrived. I think I was the 2nd customer of the day. I ordered my coffee and sat at a table to wait for my friend. Soon after regulars started filing in. My friend arrived and soon we were having a great conversation and since it is a small and rather intimate space, the whole local clientele ended up in our conversation which totally added to the morning's fun. I love the quaint 'not putting on airs' ambience. It's very reminiscent of little cafes and coffee shops I remember from the late 60's and early 70's. The difference here was a wonderful mix of my boomers, gen X, and Y. We were all enjoying a nice morning hanging out together. There's a slogan above the counter stating; "We make the best coffee anywhere." That's not far off... It is a really great cup of coffee and I'm looking forward to coming back. The Liberty Cafe gets rave reviews online so they're consistently doing something right! If you're ever in my little burg of Renton, Washington... You have to stop by, especially if you like coffee, old town, breakfast food, peoples of all ages, time travel, and places with an authentic (non-manufactured) vibe. read more

The cafe is within walking distance from the Cedar River trail dog park. I had the best chagga mushroom latte and vegan panini ever. Lots of delicious Vegan choices. Owner Debbie is beyond wonderful. At first glance I was dubious because the font on their window was Papyrus, aka. every cliche 90's cafe/restaurant go to. But upon entering, the cutesy almost enchanted forest like atmosphere punched me in the face. The interior was strewn with adorable felt foliage. It was dark, but with cozy seats and even cozier drinks. I got a Chai latte that blew me away. I actually can't even think of any appropriate words to describe the level of scrumptious creamy that was encapsulated in that cup. It wasn't too sweet, wasn't too spicy, and had the perfect amount of foam on top. Basically it was a Goldilocks Chai latte, everything about it worked in perfect harmony, and was just right. It's my second time coming here and I love this cafe. It's cozy, charming and they make great coffee. I walked in wanting some food as well and noticed an offering for vegan paninis. The woman who worked there was so lovely. She asked me exactly what toppings and condiments, offered me essentially to review her entire stack of items and she pressed a mean vegan panini. So good! Every time I go in there it is fresh. I love the music, the talking out side on the benches and tables... It is a neighborhood hangout for every age group.
