Our overall experience here was excellent here in 2008. We purchased a car from Collin who we sadly found out is now deceased. Collin was super helpful and likable, and very young. He sold us a Subaru Legacy which we didn't even know existed until he showed it to us. My husband and I had been looking at Foresters when I mentioned I'd like a 4 wheel drive sedan. That's when Collin showed us the Legacy. It was beautiful and once I got behind the wheel and drove it I knew this was the car I wanted to buy. It even came in the color I wanted.The stereo is amazing, and most importantly the car is reliable. Almost everyone was polite and helpful at this dealership. only just one person was not polite --he was some older bitter salesman {I forget his name} who we dealt with on a day that Collin wasn't in. The man made rude inappropriate jokes about marriage, women and money when my Husband and I were going through the process of buying my car, my husband and I had just recently gotten married and this guys comments were very inappropriate & made my husband and I uncomfortable. I think that old guy was a 'bad apple' in the bunch and doesn't really reflect on the overall excellent service we got from every other person at Liberty, especially Collin. I still have my car in 2014 and it still runs the way it did when I bought it. I've been very happy with it, I'm small and I've never had any other car be so adjustable fit my small frame like my legacy does and I can actually use the headrest! Its not way up past my head. I can see over the steering wheel! The seat adjusts to fit anyone comfortably. My Hubby is 6ft 1in. he can adjust the seat to fit his frame and he is just as comfortable as I am when he's driving my car. We are a Subaru family now my husband also drives a Subaru as well. As long as the quality of cars and service remains the same we will continue to be Liberty Subaru customers in the future. Without any information or proof - guy accuses me as soon as I arrive of trying to get warranty service that was not needed. Another rep who was actually aware of the issues with my car had to jump in to correct and shut up the clueless snob. Been over 5 months, and still no response from the dealership. Dan Meola is an immature and unprofessional salesman. I had corresponded with him for a couple of days. I knew what I wanted, how much and when. We agreed that the one I wanted was not available at his dealership but could be shipped. As I need the car by next week, it was necessary to have it by the end of the week. I asked that a similar style be ready to test drive. He was not ready when I came in, he didn't have a similar style ready or available to test drive and couldn't guarantee it to be delivered on time. I left. But, as I left, he started whining as if I had caused the problem. The entire sales team seemed pretty awful and the sales manager was berating another young salesman. Go anywhere else. read more

I went today with the intention to purchase a new Forester cause I've been wanting to get a new car. I fell in love with the car and figured this was the closest location to me with the car & color I wanted on the lot. I got there. I walked around. I went inside. I waited for help and nothing. 10 minutes of standing around and nothing. I guess the men standing by the desk were more interested in whatever they were all looking at at their phone than customers / customer service. I bought two brand new Subarus form Liberty within a year! This dealership was recommended to me through a great Subaru forum. I'm glad I came in and gave them a shot. I went to another dealership before I visited Liberty and they weren't knowledgeable at all. I knew more about the vehicle I wanted than the salesperson. When I went to Liberty, they had knowledge about the newest model (which was yet to be released for another month) and a better price without even negotiating. I contacted Liberty through their Internet chat and was assured they had a Legacy Limited for me to test drive. I asked about the specific stock number. I told them I had a long drive. I got there and there's no customer parking. There's service parking but nothing for buyers. So I parked in the far far end of the lot, the only space available, and made my way in. The salesperson I was assigned to was busy. The next one assigned to me said they had not a single Legacy on the lot. No apology. No attempt to interest me in anything else. I got the idea they just didn't want to sell me a car--and it's not like I'm an 18 year old kid looking for a joy ride; heck, I bought my last car from them, used, and I should have known what I was getting myself into, because on that one they lied about the paperwork fees. So there's about an hour of my time wasted by these jerks. read more

The salesman I worked with was phenomenal! However, I wish I could say the same about the management. I left a $500 deposit on a new WRX and the deal I was given ended up falling through due to circumstances beyond my control. When asked if I could have my deposit back they said that I could not due to (can't remember the exact words but something similar to) "it being a fee for all the leg work they had to do to get me approved to buy the vehicle". If you are discriminating against someone with slightly sub-par credit and making them pay an extra fee to get approved then I must recommend that anybody thinking of coming to this dealership should take their business elsewhere. read more

We are very disappointed in Liberty Subaru. We took our Forester in for service and after a $1500 bill the entire bumper fell off on the ride home. This could have been a potentially dangerous situation for my son who was driving the car at time this happened. As a result of the bumper falling off, it is now damaged and I spoke to the manager at Liberty and he refused to offer any monetary compensation or bumper repair or replacement. Although, he did admit they should have checked the bumper to make sure it was secure before car left service department. Really?? If I could give ZERO stars for Liberty Subaru I would. read more

Customer beware!!!! of the Service Department. My Outback had no issues what so ever. Took it in for the air bag recall got it back and the vent blend settings don't work. They want to charge me for a new blend motor. Meanwhile the first Service Adviser told me its probably a link that wasn't put on correctly and that has been common with the air bag fixes. Not for me though, the service manager insisted that I replace the blend motor. read more

Engaged in deceptive sales practice of over promising the delivery date of an Onyx XT not in stock to get the sale. Guidance was 6-8 weeks delivery time table but reality is at least 11 weeks while competitors have plenty in inventory and more incoming transit in same color. If information was honestly presented at the get go I would not have placed a $500 deposit to wait at least 11 weeks which is non-refundable. read more

From beginning to end, this was the single best car buying experience of my adult life! I highly recommend the salesman Jeff Miletta. Jeff was recommended to me by my neighbor so I knew he had to be good. He really listens to what is important to you. Also, I never felt pressure to do anything. The finance guy Tom Portee was organized and efficient and friendly not intimidating and aggressive like I have encountered in the past. The main reason I chose this dealer is the Service Department. At Liberty, they have a Drop In Service area as well as By Appointment Only. Also, they will give you a loaner or drive you where you need to go if you are not waiting for your car. I was so surprised by this having always had VW's in the past and they don't do A THING for you! This was important to me because I like to go to the dealer for oil changes and routine maintenance. Now, the most important part- the price! I got the deal I wanted on the CrossTrek I wanted. What more could I ask for? I knew exactly what car I wanted before going in to the dealer and I knew what I wanted to pay as a total cost for the car. And I got it! Do your research on the Subaru you want, and then go to Liberty! read more

What happened to this place? It used to be the friendliest, most welcoming factory repair shop around. Now, you're met with nastiness and impatience. It's unreal. I'm a customer, but treated as if I'm annoying the service staff just by walking up to the counter. I've experienced this at the main shop, and particularly at the express shop. There's this attitude of "we're too busy talk to you or even look at you- move along". Factory dealerships charge at least 50% more than repair shops, so you should expect professionalism and to be treated like a paying customer should. Not at Liberty, not any more. We bought a used 2014 Forester and after bringing it home, discovered an oil leak. Our salesperson, Brie Marks, and the Service Dept. staff immediately got the car in for evaluation and replaced a front axle oil seal that had gone bad. No charge to us. Very poor customer service! We went in their office , agents walked by us as if they didn't see anyone. We sat down in one of the center chairs waited for about 5 mins. One rep approached a caucasian couple seated beside us and asked them if they are being helped. We waited a little bit more and approached an agent who's taking care of another client, who then called the same person who approached the people beside us! I was emailing back and forth with someone at Liberty Subaru. Made an appointment to stop by to check out a car. The rep wasn't even there when I showed up ( he never mentioned anything in emails about him not being there when I told him the time I planned to arrive). I was browsing around the lot for a good 15 mins and not 1 salesperson came out to ask if I needed help. And this was at 6:30pm, on a very slow night, not one other customer was in the lot nor the inside. I saw all the sales people just standing around hanging out. They're hours that night was to close at 8pm. So I wasn't cutting it super close I finally walk inside and a salesperson comes up to me basically like I just ruined his night. I told him the car I was interested in and he basically gave me a "oh...that's great..." attitude. He gave me a card and that was it. He didn't offer to look at the car that was available or anything These a-holes treated me like I was some moron wasting their time. If they only knew I was carrying $14,000 cash on me ready to put a down payment on a Impreza. Needless to say, I went to a different dealership. read more

Wow what a huge waste of my time here. So I called in to make an appointment to come see a Subaru WRX and the gave the salesman Mike all the information. I made time out of my busy schedule to come see and test drive the car. First thing they do is ask for more information then blatantly say there's "no way I can roll that much negative equity into a new car". How about you let me test out the car first then I'll front up more money down?! They treat the WRX like some Ferrari that no one can test out unless you look a certain way. Please... It's an entry level car made by an entry level company. I get treated more fairly and professionally at Toyota and Honda testing driving their cars which have more expensive cars in their lineup as compared to Subaru. Bunch of liars- today I got approved for Acura and Lexus loans with my so called upside down equity. Subaru is at the BOTTOM of the car industry- they're also Japanese made. My WRX had some issues last week Friday after work (check engine lights and another electrical warning light turned on)... after I got home and looked at manual it said to take to dealership. I called and at that time the service department was closed but the receptionist suggested to drop it of Saturday morning. I had to work that Saturday but was able to just drop it off (very quick and easy)... I was at work and missed the service call.... but when I called back they informed me what the issue was and went ahead and fixed it and also did an oil change because it was almost that time. But instead I'll reiterate those points. The salesman bragged to us about how great he is at selling and how he always has the best numbers. The car was 4 weeks delayed and no one contacted us. Ever. At all. We were dissatisfied with the brand new car we purchased from them and when I called (twice) and eventually my husband called, we were essentially told tough shit. This was the 3rd Subaru dealership I visited over the last two months, and I dealt with 2 more over the phone/email. I was ready for a new car, but not entirely sure of the model, and not desperate to leave with one the same day so I took my time. I did some research, went on some test drives. And at the same time I didn't want to give any jerk salesman a payday just because I liked a car on their lot. The first difference when you walk in this dealership over others is, there are always CUSTOMERS. The other dealerships I went too were always empty- for good reason. Here I started my inquiry online just as I had with other dealers. They responded quickly, and Jake and Dan R were helpful. The sales manager Dan C was also helpful when we were finalizing paperwork. I left with a 2017 WRX. I would recommend this dealership if you are looking for a Subaru. read more

Just my two cents on Liberty Subaru. I have been to other car dealerships and seriously, the best experiences I have had were at Liberty Subaru. I haven't dealt with every sales person there, so I cannot state with confidence that every sales person is as honorable as Ed Vogel. Seriously, if you decide to purchase a Subaru, go to Liberty Subaru. My personal recommendation would be that you speak with Ed Vogel. The man knows his stuff about Subaru vehicles. Ed is highly knowledgeable, very friendly and he knows how to treat every customer as if they are the most important person in the room. The sales managers, as well as every person you must speak with to close the deal have always treated me with dignity and respect. Nobody has been too pushy "up selling" services and programs that I don't really need...like I have seen done so many times at other dealerships. The people at the service desk are always friendly and helpful and the mechanics do their very best to resolve an issue when you bring the car in with a problem. All in all, Liberty Subaru is a dealership that I would recommend to just about anyone looking for a new or used Subaru. Purchased a 2020 preowned. 2,200 miles. Dealer advised when we picked up the car, that they do not set up STARLINK, and it is the responsibility of the buyer to set up on their own. After checking with both subaru corporate and STARLINK, this information Is incorrect. They should set up CPO the same as they would a new car. We have tried to set it up on our own, and have an error code and have to bring the car in for service after only having the vehicle for 2 days. Bought 3 new cars in past from liberty subaru, never had an issue. read more

My experience with Liberty was excellent. Liberty offered a very good price on a Forester thru TrueCar.com. Given the recent shortage of Japanese cars, I fully expected the dealership to try to avoid making the sale at the TrueCar price. However -- ISSUE NEVER EVEN RAISED! Because of vehicle shortage had to wait for delivery. Dealer was upfront about supply problems was only a bit optimistic in claiming when the car would be available. Did most of the deal over the phone. Liberty made it easy to apply for financing, and was helpful in describing the Subaru warranty plans. Never pushed for silly add-ons to the car. Dealt mostly with Clayton in internet sales. My visit to the dealer to pick up the car was a non-event -- it was ready and waiting. Signed the papers quickly -- again, no attempts at silly up-sell attempts -- and drove away. read more

I've been without a car for over 3 years, and when it became time to get back on the road, I initially considered minvans, but wasn't thrilled with anything. I was turned on to Subaru, especially the Forester and Outback, via Consumer Reports, and further via the website cars101.com. So I did a lot, I mean a lot, of research, first on the cars and competitors, and then, on deciding on the Forester, local Subaru dealers. I looked at a lot of dealer websites, and read tons of reviews on Yelp and dealerrater.com. While not all of the reviews of Liberty were highly positive, the overall ratings were much more impressive than those for other dealers in the area. So, i contacted the dealership, via a request for information, and received a prompt response from Dan Listredi. I met with Dan, and Clayton, on President's Day (and, wow, was Liberty busy that day!). I knew what I wanted, they had it, gave me a good price, and, after writing an initial check, i was out the door in about an hour. Great experience! I picked up the car on Thursday Feb 19. Tom Quinn walked me through all the financing "stuff", providing me options, as I had requested, and explained everything that i needed explained (or that he needed to explain). Steve then walked me through the car features, and i was on the road, in a little over an hour. BE AWARE IF YOU GET A CHEAP QUOTE FROM THEM! I went back and forth emailing with a rep and also went test driving. A rep gave me a written quote right after my test driving and agreed to give me a price cut by $300 on email which I listed all the options I needed just in case they forgot. When I drove a long way to the dealership and the rep told me the price they gave me was not including all the options and raised the price by $450 immediately and the so-called MANAGER was being rude and made me feel uncomfortable. So I just walked out. I am a mother with a very little baby and drove long way to the deanship just in order to purchase a car. I could afford the price differecne of $450 but I could't tolerate the way they were doing business. read more

Last year, I was looking to purchase a Impreza Sport Premium in Red and couldn't find what I was looking for at other dealers in NJ. I went on KBB.com (I think) to get a quote and immediately got passed along 3 offers by dealers in and around NJ/NY metro area and Liberty Subaru was one of them. I got a quote from Liberty that was aggressively priced but then the icing on the cake was that I got a note from the Internet Sales guy, Clayton Earle who offered an immediate $500 discount on top of it. When I went into speak with Clayton, he was inviting, helped by showing me the actual car that I was looking for in the correct color and transmission style. When I was deciding if I wanted to make a purchase that day, he made it difficult by offering additional accessories and taking even more off from the purchase price until I got to a point that I felt that I got a REALLY good deal. If you are looking for a Subaru, I would first recommend going through one of the Internet sales sites like AAA.com or KBB.com to request a price quote. I went there to potentially buy a new Outback. At first, it was nice to browse around without being hounded and stalked by some obnoxious salesperson. But after 15 minutes, I was ready to talk with someone. Several old salesmen were standing around, so I gave a little head nod signal and a raise of a hand to show interest and get some help. No response. Nothing!! It was like I was completely invisible. Almost like my money wasn't good enough for the place. Unbelievable!!! I finally walked over to the manager's desk and waited why two guys behind the counter exchanged small talk. I politely interrupted and asked for help. The manager sent over, surprisingly, and very nice, young, well prepared and informative salesman! I threw lots of questions at him, and put him on the spot for some data on competing models by other manufacturers. Without skipping a beat, he answered each and every question to my satisfaction. Very impressed! I'll have to update my review when I find his business card so he can get the credit he really deserves. So why the one star review?? Getting snubbed by 95% of the salesmen tells me a lot about how I would be treated as a long term customer for service and future sales. My advice...get rid of the grumpy old men that obviously don't need another sale. For the helpful young gentleman, pack your bags and find a dealership where you can excel amongst other fine salespeople that won't bring you down. I'm sure the cranks cringe at your excellent work. Few people have the gift to be a great salesman without coming across as a high pressure, slimy, blood sucking shyster! Don't waste your time and future career at Liberty Subaru. If I decide to buy, I'll come to you for the sale, then have my car serviced elsewhere. Overall, a very rude dealership not worth the trip. Look elsewhere! read more
