Good wings with the house hot sauce. AYCE for $11 on Mondays. Apps are $5 on Tuesdays. Good cheesesteak rolls, but skip the Ranchero Locos Tacos. They're literally the same mini tacos that 7-11 sells 4 for $1, spruced up a little bit presentation wise. read more

Basically bar food with extensive beer selection, including a few hard ciders. My son says they have the best wings around. I haven't been disappointed with their food, but neither am I amazed. Such a gem hidden away in a lovely setting. Prefer to go when the weather is nice as the patio is lovely. The beer selection is great and bartenders are knowledgeable. Food has some high points, but a few items fall flat. While the beer and service are a solid 9, the food ranges from a 6 to an 8. We stopped here for lunch on a Monday afternoon and will definitely be back! They had a great beer selection, a number of microbrews on tap and a ridiculous bottle selection, the bartender was friendly and prompt, and our food was surprisingly delicious. The menu was very interesting, a good twist on standard bar foods and I had a hard time deciding what to get. My husband got wings (so many great choices- honey sirichia bacon?!?) and I got nachos (yum! Again, not just your normal nachos). I'm looking forward to going back! read more

Well it was my first time hear to listen to my friend who was doing an open Mike. The two bartenders, I believe Chelsey and Lima were very pleasant to me. The fact that they can serve and listen to you are a lost trait in this generation let me tell you. A couple of afternoons ago, my husband and I were searching for a new and different place to go, rather than the same old, same old. Are we ever glad we picked this place! Not only is it nicely decorated, but the craft beer selection is incredible! We tried a few, and loved practically all of them. They also change them out frequently, so it seems as if there's always something new to sample. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and I each chose the "build your own" grilled chicken sandwiches. Choose your toppings, your cheese, your sauce, from a very large selection. I also chose the Mediterranean mezze, which is pita bread wedges for dipping in three different sauces; hummus, salsa (some of the BEST I've ever tasted), and a feta cheese dip blended with a few other delicious ingredients. I can't WAIT to go back and get it again! I would be seriously remiss if I didn't mention our bartender, Lynna. She's so friendly and informative concerning the many craft beers. She's also as cute as a button, and made us feel very welcome as "newbies". The other patrons were also very friendly. A great experience overall. Do yourself a favor and GO! The Liberty Tap Room is a great place for meeting friends, throwing back a few, and watching sports. The wings here are the best in the Reading area, meaty, large, full flavored, and well priced. Not always easy to get a table last minute, but reservations a few days prior on weekends is recommended. The outdoor seating in summer is a great addition.! read more

Stopped in for dinner... opted to sit at the outside deck as it was a beautiful evening and the live music inside was a bit loud. Good choice. They have a very nice outside area with several tables. They have an extensive beer collection to choose from... I don't recall the name of the beer that we got but it was very good. We both opted for a panini (turkey rachel and chicken pesto... both very good) and some wings (hot honey and parm peppercorn... again, very good... and big with lots of meat to em'). I think I was last here 15+ years ago when the "out back" patio was built during a previous business incarnation. It is still a very pleasant place to sit 'n' sip on beautiful summer night. The current incarnation is fantastic; the beer selection is phenomenal, the food delish! Myself, wife and adult daughter 2 beers each a total of 6 very different varieties all great. Fish tacos and Cobb salad fresh and well done, delightful and helpful service. Well worth the experience. Next visit will be likely in the next 15 days and not 15 years, for sure! read more

Love love this place!!! I have been going to Liberty for years it's my "go to" when dining out last minute.... Then they changed the menu and tried to make it fancier and it wasn't the same, wasn't bad, just not what we had LOVED ... We almost didn't go back after they did that, but the wings there are pretty amazing and we had to try it again... So, now it seems to be back to the way we liked it!!! Yeahhhh! Came by on Mothers Day for lunch and was amazed! The place looks awesome, great atmosphere and a very cool outdoor bar and patio. Beers on tap are great and they have a huge beer fridge with tons of variety, and even some lesser known breweries and limited releases! The food was really fantastic. Our group tried a variety of things and most everything is infused with beer. The pretzel with beer infused cheeses and mustards was really amazing but everything was fantastic. Service was great too, we had Brendan as our waiter and he and the bartenders were all awesome. I definitely recommend this place for all. It makes for a good family meal and a great late-night hangout for some awesome beer tasting. They also do a ton of events and promotions so there is always something for everyone! read more

If you're looking for a spot to grab some beers, this place is great (with its extensive beer list and cute atmosphere) but SKIP the food!!!! Because I live close to the Liberty Tap Room I've given their food too many chances but last night was the final straw! The 1st time I went there I had the pizza.... It tasted like it had been prepared from all frozen ingredients and nuked in a microwave. The 2nd time I went there with my family and we all had the wings, which were good but didn't sit well in anyone's stomach (ouch!). And finally last night I shared the calamari appetizer with my husband which was quite dry and bland... Some of the pieces contained NO calamari, it was just batter. It had to have been previously frozen! For my meal, I ordered the Shepard pie which is literally something I havent eaten since my childhood days but I figured how can you mess up meat and potatoes? The entree that was delivered to me was downright scary!!! It was a bowl of gravy (with maybe 4 pieces of meat in it and A single sliced mushroom) topped with the tiniest bit of instant potatoes! It was A runny consistency i thought Shepard pie was baked? Needless to say I left the restaurant starving from not being able to touch my meal. Sorry, Liberty but please stick to serving just beer. read more

So, this is the second review for the taproom that I am writing. It is prompted because of the fact that the manager, Josh doesn't know the meaning of customer service. Did I mention that he is the MANAGER! Anyway, I got a beer from the beer room and it had a taped on label that was printed off of a low rate printer (you couldn't even read the writing)! I took a sip and thought what type of beer is this, there was no carbonation. I took another sip and decided that the beer was just flat. I told the bartender (Lynna) that I had gotten a flat beer and she poured it out of the bottle into a glass and got nothing! It looked like iced tea! She called another bartender (Pat) over and he agreed with me that it was flat. She took the beer to Josh, the manager, and he said no, that's just how this beer is. I've been drinking beer longer than he has been old enough to work! Lynna graciously poured it out and got me another beer on the house because she understands customer service. You may say to yourself that I could be mistaken and while this may be true, if I am your customer and I am unhappy with your product, wouldn't you try and resolve the situation to at least appease me! Great beer selection. Great service. Food okay but the kitchen got my wife's order wrong twice. She ordered a plain calzone and got one with peperoni and sausage, then asked for a medium rare cheese burger as a replacement and the burger arrived looking like a lump of carcoal. My sanwich was tasty but way too much bread, which took away from the very good cut of pastrami. Went there for the first time tonight with my husband. Got sat very quickly. But waited 15 mins for our drinks and we only got a beer and a mixed drink. When he finally brought our drinks he spilled some of the beer on my husbands shorts. And it was a thick and dark beer. Once we got them we were ready to order. But that didn't happen. He dropped the drinks and left right away. Waited maybe another 5 mins to order. I got the burger with crab in it. I asked for it medium but was told it only is cooked one way. No big deal. But when we got our food my burger was burnt. Cut into it and took a bite. It was soooo dry and had no flavor. Couldn't taste the crab. Just really bad. I did want to order something else but by the time it would have been done it would have been late and my husband would have been done eating. I just shred my husbands crab mac and cheese. Which was really good. So I just asked for a side salad with balsamic dressing. We also ordered another another round of drinks. The server brought the round of drinks and the server again spilled more beer on my husbands shorts. :(then he informs me they r out of balsamic dressing. Not impressed with anything. Trying really hard to find my "home base" bar. This definitely fits the bill as its close and it's got plenty of craft, domestic, and import selections to choose from. Always seems to have a crowd. Going into a bar alone as a woman is always intimidating and I never felt UNcomfortable here but the female bartenders tend to only talk to the regulars rather than chat up the unfamiliar faces. The also like to flirt with the guys ... Tips I guess. I just wish they did a better job of making sure your cup never emptied rather than spending time chatting the regulars. Food is good. Have been there twice now. First time I sat at the bar with some friends, had a few beers and some wings. Great beer selection, and wings were great. Second time went in for dinner with my wife and our 5 yr. old son. Service was well below average. Our food was brought out but not my son's pizza. I had to ask 3 times, we were halfway done with our sandwiches before my son's pizza came out. Great if you want to sit at the bar, stay away if you want to have a sit down dinner. read more

Beer: The beer selection here is larger than most in the area but realistically it is only that big because of the bottle room as half the drafts are your standard macro junk. The drafts do rotate frequently, and hopefully there will be more limited tappings in the future like the 120 Min IPA this weekend. Their glassware selection kills some of the beers' subtle notes. On my first visit I had the Mikeller Beer Geek Breakfast on draft and the giant, heavy goblet it was served in killed any and all aroma and made the beer rather tasteless(have had it since, served in a snifter and it was 100X better). The same goes for the normally incredible Dogfish Head Burton Baton, also served in the goblet and lost nearly all of its wonderful oak and hop aroma and taste. The 2 times I have been there it was tough to choose a beer, not based on the vast selection but based on I have had most of if not all the drafts before. There are however some nice 750's in the bottle room just never there for takeout. Food: When I first heard little ol' Berks County was getting a gastropub I was excited yet very skeptical. On the first visit our expectations were not high and sadly the reality was worse than our low expectations. Our intent was to do apps and entrees and i was going to pair beer selections with out choices. First problem was there are no entrees, just sandwiches and pizzas. Second problem came in service, our appetizers - the very un-gastropub Not Knots Garlic Knots and the Crab Bisque took over 35 minutes to make it to our table. Unacceptable. The knots tasted almost as if they were deep fried, just a greasy, doughy mess of a dish. The Crab Bisque must have been fresh and made with the very water the crabs were caught in because it was saltier than the Atlantic, Chesapeake, whatever. For our "entrees" we both had a pizza. I ordered the Fresca since I love basic margherita pizzas more than any other. When it arrived(oddly enough 5 minutes after the 35 minute soup arrived) I had to wonder if I should have gone simpler and ordered a burger. Turns out I should have(probably). Both our pizzas were doughy and undercooked and overall just a way to soak up some booze. 2nd visit I had the Pulled Pork sandwich, it was great as a late night snack over going to a diner but was very dry and in desperate need of a sauce of some sort. Atmosphere: Atmosphere is along the lines of a sports bar. I can handle, but it's not the typical gastropub atmosphere I love. Then again nothing about this place(besides serving craft beer) is relative to a gastropub. From the lackluster menu and cooking to the paper napkins and silverware just dropped on the table to the 10+ TVs to the domestic macrobrews available this is taking the already becoming watered down gastropub idea down the toilet. Just call yourself a beer bar with ok pub food. There are other bars in the area with just as good a rotating tap lineup and better food. Will I go back? Probably, but it will never be a first or secong, or probably even third choice for beer or food. read more

Came in to grab a beer with friends. Was then told about a 10 dollar "build your own burger" deal for ten dollars which included a free draft beer up to 5 dollars! Great deal right? Well after asking the bartender (short hair with mustache) the details about the burger and being assured that I would be paying ten dollars for the burger I end up getting a burger. The burger arrives and it is mediocre. I then receive a bill after the meal where I was charged more than fifteen dollars for the burger and charged for the beer that was supposedly free. When I asked about why I was charged extra for the burger and the beer the bartender (once again the one with the short hair and the mustache) was very rude and walked away from me mid conversation. I felt belittled and lied to after he refused to honor what he told me while he was convincing me to get the build a burger "deal". In addition he attempted to charge me more than my beer cost and only agreed to change the price of the beer after I showed him the price listed on the menu (after once again giving me immense amounts of attitude) As someone who doesn't often have the opportunity to eat out I would highly recommend avoiding this establishment. At very least save yourself the trouble by avoiding eating at the bar so you don't have to deal with rude bartenders. I would instead recommend trying Chatty Monks,Nonno Albi's, or Ganly's for better customer service, better food and fairer prices. I will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Good food and service at a fair price. Out on Memorial day and our first choice was closed, and I'm glad because someone suggested the outdoor seating at the Liberty Taproom. Our server, Matt, was great. Funny and attentive. The food was very good and fairly priced. The beer selection is very good and prices are clearly marked - it's very annoying to me when restaurants don't mark the price of drinks and other items on the menu so I gave them the 5th star for this reason. read more

A friend had told us that Liberty Taproom is a good place to go for the beer selection, so we got a sitter for the kids and drove into Reading. It didn't disappoint. I really liked the atmosphere - lots of tvs to watch your favorite sports teams, the place seems clean and spacious, the bar is nice, and it feels modern yet traditional . They have a very nice outdoor patio with pretty plants - again, it's a very nice outdoor space that is clean and tidy. The beer was good. I ordered the 4 beer special where you get four 5 oz mugs of beers of your choice for $8 (but I was told there can be an upcharge for certain beers). Even my least favorite beer was good. The food was very good too. It is mostly sandwiches, wraps, wings, and pizza. I got the chicken cordon bleu wrap - very good. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich and thought it was good too. He ordered fried with his sandwich, and the waitress failed to tell him that the sandwiches come with chips already, so he got both fries and chips. Neither was ordinary. Both were delicious. I wonder if they make their own chips - really crispy and good. The fries had a good coating on them. I will definitely go back to Liberty Taproom. read more

6 of us went for lunch on Thursday 9/15/16, it was a beautiful day to sit outside. The owner or the manager thought it would be a good idea to have the inside bartender service both inside and outside. We were there over an hour from sitting to paying the bill. That's unacceptable for a weekday lunch, knowing most people are on a time constraint. I know it's all about saving money, not putting a few servers on, but that money saved is now money you won't get from me. The new Liberty in Kenhorst/Reading is close to my house, I don't see me going there with the bad taste in my mouth I have over this first time experience. The food was good, as a bright spot.
