Excellent place for a cold beer and great pub food! I've been here on multiple occasions and they've been solid with speed of service and quality of food each and every time. I've had the pub nachos, the burgers (JB burger is on point), and the pizza- The Philly Special pizza is a solid choice! Their beers are always rotating and there is always too many good ones to try. They also have many good seasonal ones that are offered. Overall a very good place to grab some grub and have a few drinks. Only cons: it can be loud and sometimes there can be a long wait-but that's to be expected given its popularity. 5 Stars. I recommend giving it a try! read more

Stopped in for lunch and a few beers. Second time there during the lunch hour and no crowd both visits so if you're looking for a laid back lunch with no lines, this is the place. Food was good. I had the Chipotle chicken panini with a side of chips. Guess you can't go wrong with a sandwich. They have 30+ taps of regularly rotating craft beers as well as a nice sized bottle room. Liberty does get busy in the evenings especially on the weekends so plan accordingly. Will definitely be back. read more

I was a frequent customer until I just called to ask them where their updated menu was. Jesus, I believe answered. He said it's on Facebook, I told him I couldn't find it, he said it's there. Then I was in the midst of saying "where" and he hung up on me. This was EXTREMELY displeasing to say the least and you have lost our business! I went for a get together after work so we ordered a nice mixture of food between all of us. I have to say it was a very nice atmosphere and very nice visit, even for a medium sized group. The fish tacos were prepared just right and were light and satisfying. I also stole a few of my co-worker's wings and they were prepared just right also. Sometimes you get wings that are either dry or under cooked when it is "wing nite", but these kept coming out pretty consistent. The assortment of microbrews and different flavors of beer that they have will never leave you wanting more. That combination with all of the televisions for watching the games knocks it out of the park for me. read more

STAY AWAY!!!!!!This place is disgusting! They pretend to be a family restaurant but they're just another dirty dive bar. Waitresses drunkenly severing you as your food comes out wrong and cold. They claim to have good wings but they a mediocre at best. Dust and dirt all over above your heads falling on your food. You would think they would know how to use a duster. Male staff members making sexual comments to waitresses as my young children are around. Which made me feel super uncomfortable to the point I asked for my check. On top of that the service is horrible probably because there staff is drunk sexual abusing other staff members. It only took 15 minutes to get are server back so we could get are check. And this is all before six o'clock at night too. I WILL never go back to this place again. read more

BACKGROUND: This review is based on multiple visits at different times of the week over the course of the 18 months they've been open. (some call that a drinking problem!) The owners also own another Tap room bar in Bethlehem and that has been successful for years. They've done a nice job in bringing this to the people of Reading. PROS: Amazing selection of craft brews. Absolutely this place is in a small group of bars in Berks county to really ride the craft brew wave right. They have approximatley 30 draft beers which they are constantly rotating. They have approximately 400 bottled beers. Beer prices are best in Berks for what they're offereing. Don't get greedy and change that! They offer mixed six packs of most of their bottle selection at $14. That's a great price if you figure out the cost per case of many of those brews you're buying. They also have some top notch singles in as well which maybe $10+ a beer for the super beer snob. In the beer room they've added a huge selection of bomber beers (22oz). A lot of the craft brews have been moving some production into these bombers and you may have to buy this size if you're looking for something particular which isn't carried in keg or 12oz. They also have done an amazing job of bringing in seasonal beer. They have probably a dozen pumpkin beers in already for fall! I tip my glass the be beer buyer! They have a "beer" list which is free to be part of. Essentially it's a list of 200 beers and it's your list. As you go in and try a new beer, if its on that list you get it checked off. When you finish the list, you get a engraved metal mug with your name that they hang at the bar. The great part is, it gives you $1 off any draft beer forever. This can be used at their Reading or Bethlehem location. I never did the list, but there are quite a few mugs hanging so it's seems popular and a nice twist to the typical bar. Bar staff definitely knows the beers on tap. These aren't beer experts by any means but for most people, they can steer you in the right direction or describe the basic characteristics of the general types of beers. They have a nice outside patio as well. It's not giving you that country air and breeze, but for the location they did a nice job. Good amount of Hi def TVs for the game. Live entertainment typically on the weekends. Usually nothing over powering just small groups/bands. The nights change over to a younger crowd and they sometimes have a DJ. CONS: If any place has struggled with food, it's Liberty. It is a beer focused bar, but the food quality is all over the place. You really have no idea what you're getting. It's bar, pub food for sure and it certainly has improved since the first few months, but I'd give it a 3-4/10. Advice: eat before you come and enjoy your beer!!! Friday and Saturday nights you will be lucky to find a parking spot. There is no off street parking close. A table for dinner will be a GOOOOOD long wait. I went in to pickup under my boyfriends name and they didn't have my order. So I sat there and waited while they said they were cooking it and it'd be 5-10 mins but instead my order was sitting on the counter the whole time they just didn't have my name attached to it. I don't really know where to start, but the past year every visit has been kinda disappointing, but lastnight was hands down disrespectful, and the worst service I've ever seen, not one for reviews but honestly someone needs to loose their job if they want to stay open...(coming from someone that ran a restaurant not to sound like a rick)...start off by being seated at a dirty table, which was whatever, it was just colored on paper and some wet marks, then we waited, and waited, to the point my girlfriend started a timer and I went to the bar for our drinks (including waters) after 15 minutes went by, still no sign of a server for our table, finally we say something and get no real answers and then we get ignored by the girl that finally comes over and just says"I'll be right over, I got a lot going on" that never happened and the HOST asks us for our food order maybe 35/40 minutes into being sat at a not busy at alll restaurant. Finally "our server" walks by and we have to yell to her just so she stops to get us two Beers, this is where someone needs to be fired if you ever want this review removed, OUR SERVER as my girlfriends very calm and nicely ordering her beer we watch her at the POS system struggling and my girlfriend says" it's ok if you don't have it" and server says "no you just didn't order it correctly I like to have people tell me the brewery first......"I'm sorry but as a avid beer drinker I knew that was just pure disrespect and pettyness by the server. If your still reading we finally get the food after atleast n hour half, and it was wrong which happens but when we told the "server" she didn't care and just blamed the kitchen, when it was 100 percent her fault, It honestly got worse to the point other people that worked there kept saying sorry. But nothing was done about it, to top it all off, she was eating in the back and we noticed only because I had ask for a water and her mouth was full of food......I feel robbed and honestly the only reason I paid for our meals and drinks was I'm a nice guy and have gone there for years , dozens of times. All and all we were there 2 hours waiting for our dinner, I wish I was joking. Don't bother with this place anymore, it is complete trash unless your going to stay at the bar, even than goodluck...what happened to y'all?! If y'all need a new gm hit me up here's some free tips.. I go most Mondays for wing night, they have excellent wings although they are always inconsistent in how much sauce used on them, sometimes they are almost dry and others they are drenched. If they found that perfect medium they would be excellent. Every employee I've met has been very nice and the bartender is 10/10 read more

The Liberty Taproom is decently close to home and is probably one of my wife's favorite restaurants. Over the past 6 months ive become highly interested in the craft beer world and this is one of my favorite places. They have close to 30 beers on draft and I believe almost 500 choices from bottles so the option for beer is practically unlimited. The food is a little pricey but come out in extremely large portions so is almost worth the money. When we were there last my wife got some type of sub and was absolutely in love. A usual pizza lover finally found something she enjoys too so i was definitely impressed. The other food on the menu i have had is all delicious and always well cooked and presentable. And when paired with my IPAs it always fantastic. The staff was also extremely friendly and on top of things from the start. With in minutes we had our table and had our beers. The waitress off the bat suggested a new IPA they had on draft and she wasnt wrong with the suggestion because it was on point. This is definitely a place i would suggest to any new craft beer lovers. If you cant find a beer you like here then you probably shouldnt be drinking beer in the first place. With a great menu and super friendly staff this isnt a place you want to miss out on. read more

Monday is all you can eat wings night for $13. Combine that with their good selection of reasonably priced craft beers and you've got yourself a fun night. The bartenders are knowledgeable, attentive and friendly. The one down side with wing night is they started me off with a serving of 10 (you can mix and match) but later in the night they cut the serving down to 4. Kind of sucks if you want to sample the flavors. The bacon Sriracha was killer IMO. read more

This is based on four visits (two happy hour, one dinner, and one late-night). The atmosphere here is more sports bar than anything else. The beer: Excellent selection! Lots of taps, lots of rotation, variation, and a good bottle and takeout offering. It's clear to me that their buyer(s) have outstanding taste. Beer prices are on the cheap side. They list size, price, ABV, style notes, and what style of glass the beer is served in right on the menu, which is always appreciated. They run some good specials, my favorite is the $1 off drafts daily happy hour. You can get a seat at the bar if you come towards the beginning of happy hour, but it fills up around 6 and later. They have lots of TVs to watch the Phils on (even in the side dining room). My late night experience here: there was a DJ, which was only okay because it wasn't entirely too loud. It seems as though the late night crowd here doesn't really "get it." There aren't enough parking spaces, but I suspect that will change. Recently, I asked the bartender if they did half pints (you know, those glasses often used for flights), and she seemed puzzled but said yes. I asked for a half pint of Southern Tier Creme Brûlée Stout. She then filled a pint glass halfway, but charged me full price, $6. I will also note that the bar-to-stool ratio is a little uncomfortable--not sure if the bar is too high or the stools are too low. The food: Not quite a "gastropub" menu, I suppose. I could be spoiled from dining at too many gastropubs in the city. The pierogies were a good price and very delicious! A dipping sauce would be fun but not entirely necessary. $9 for a singular fish taco (what kind of fish?) when the menu says "fish tacos" was only a little disheartening, as it was tasty. Anything that comes with sour cream has my heart. It seems like some menu items are a good value while others are not. The food quality and presentation is average overall. The other members in my party were: 2 satisfied, and 1 delighted. Our server was friendly and helpful. I might return for the food, although I feel like I'll most often come for appetizers and beer here. I discovered Liberty Tap Room in the last year or so and have been back many times since. I have always had a positive experience. I always ask the bartenders or waitstaff what IPA is popular at the moment and I've always been happy with their recommendations. My glass is never empty, and the waitstaff are friendly and efficient. I think the wings are fried...but they are tasty. Try the boom boom sauce! I love the Liberty sandwich which I think is grilled guyere cheese and short rib...and anything else on the menu I have tried has been delicious. I like the atmosphere at the bar...a very casual, local favorite. If you haven't been there, try it. If you love beer, they have quite a selection. read more

Usually, I've had good experiences here. The bartenders do get chummy with their regulars (which I'm not) and if you sit at the bar expect to wait a while to get noticed - this recent time I waited 15 minutes to even order while the regulars got refills. No apology when I mentioned it to the head bartender. Draft list is great and food is solid. Some advice is to be nice and attentive to everyone if you want repeat business. They are conveniently located in Exeter, PA and offer some fantastic food choices and beer pairings. They have something like 36 taps and usually have an out-of-this-world draft list. It's a beer snobs paradise! They have one of the best offerings in the area for microbrews. You could compare them to places like Canal Street in Reading, except they have servers who are attentive and will get you your drinks promptly and not keep you waiting an hour for food. Can't wait to write that review. The beer prices can be salty though. If you're budgetting, make sure you account for every sip! They have and will increase beer prices based on popularity. You know all that Pumking we're swimming in now? Well this time last year it was impossible to find. Thankfully Liberty was willing to satisfy that pumpkin desire for a reasonable sum of $16-18 a bottle. Holy price gouging! Lastly, they do NOT do reservations. That parts a real killer, especially if you have friends in town and you want to take them out for a few beers. They do call aheads in stead, which I guess is an OK alternative. I went here for the first time (seemed like a slow night) to meet some old friends a little while back and it will be the last time. While sitting at the bar I ordered wings and a coors lite. They took at least five minutes to get the beer because they don't keep them behind the bar (I do know they serve mostly craft beers). After my second beer the bartenders stopped serving me. They never took my empty plate or bottle either. After ten minutes of one bartender talking to the guy next to me I left. I never even got my check. read more

From the outside it looks like it would be a nice classy place, but then you step in and they made it into a sportsbar type setting. They do offer many good beers on tap and in bottle, however the bartenders and servers don't seem to know anything about them. The food is your standard pub grub, nothing fresh or above average. The table service is not very professional, bordering on diner-esque. The Bartenders seem to talk to each other more than the customers who are sitting there with empty glasses. Another thing that I thought was odd/illegal was that the bartenders have their food setting in plain sight of the bar customers and will eat behind the bar. WARNING: OUT-OF-STATE CUSTOMERS, STEER CLEAR! NOT WORTH YOUR TIME. I am a New Jersey resident and was visiting my girlfriend and her family in town. We have gone to the Liberty Tap Room several times in the past and have experienced no problems. However, on this most recent instance, we were stopping in to pick up a six-pack of beer each. New Jersey driver's licenses do not have the magnetic strip to swipe that Pennsylvania ID's have, so when the bouncer in charge of selling six packs in the beer store, which is adjunct to the bar itself, attempted to swipe my ID through the system, it registered "unverified" (because he was trying to scan a bar code using a magnetic reader). At this point, he left the room saying he'd "be right back." He returned with another bouncer who has examined my ID on multiple occasions and found it valid. This bouncer than began verbally berating both me and my girlfriend and said he was "confiscating" my valid driver's license, at which point he began peeling the holographic cover that is standard on New Jersey ID's off the front; he left the room, and said he would be calling the police and that I could get my license back from them. After half an hour of treating my girlfriend and me like criminals, rather than regular paying customers, the bouncer informed us that the manager "didn't feel like" dealing with the cops, but if we came back on a weekday, the manager informed us, they would definitely be calling the police on us. They refused to sell my girlfriend, who has lived three blocks away for half her life, any beer either, and she was treated with the same amount of disrespect. We've had a number of positive experiences at the Tap Room, but after the amount of verbal harassment and treatment as criminals that we endured, I'm sorry to say we won't be returning to this establishment. I'd encourage any potential out-of-state customers to steer clear of this place and save themselves the hassle. read more

I have a slight addiction to their MILD wings with their AWESOME SECRET SAUCE. What is in that?? I have been there quite a few times. My husband loves trying the new beers they always have on Tap, and the beer room is GREAT. However, STAY AWAY FROM THE THE OWNER. She dresses like she going to a high school dance (she has got to be 45). She is VERY snooty and cannot handle a busy night. First time I was ever here my dad took my brother and me. It was a Wednesday night, which is the pizza night, a large one-topping pizza for $8. Pretty good to start with, when we got the pizzas they were hot and delicious. My dad seemed to really enjoy the beer selection they have there and the store in the front next to the bar. After you're done eating or need a break from the bar they have a small room in the back with a single pool table. It cost roughly a dollar to play but is nicely kept. If me and some friends were looking for a nice pizza place and wouldn't mind sitting down and waiting (unlike Domino's or Pizza Hut) I would recommend this place. read more
