    Vodka Punch

I visited Reading Pagoda and stopped in here on my way back. The food was pretty basic but yummy. My vodka punch was really great. They card everyone at the table if you get an alcoholic beverage. The service was great. I lucked out with my server. I was in a time crunch and she was very accommodating of that. When I was there, they had a live band which was cool.

First time here and seated outdoors since it was a gorgeous day. Service was excellent. Our server was on point and attentive, and friendly. Food was great! I had the fried shrimp po'boy and it was that good that I will come again just for that alone. Fried pickles were excellent if you like pickles! Hit the spot. Even their chips are good. I usually don't bother with chips at other establishments, maybe one or two, but I ate these ALL. No one in my party complained about any of their food. I also tried the lime cilantro shrimp tacos not pictured. Those were yum as well. Will be going back!

Came here with a friend after an outing this past Friday around 5pm. It was before the typically Friday night crowd so it was very open seating and a relaxed environment. They had outdoor and indoor seating, but we opted to sit indoors. We both ordered a drink, an app, as well as an entree. The drinks were strong, the app was really good, however the entree was a bit bland (the fries where the best part). Overall experience was nice and will consider coming here again next time I'm in PA.

    The seriously strange pierogi app.

Pet friendly! Extensive craft beer selection, outdoor patio where you can bring your dog, and a menu that at least tries to think outside the box. And that counts for something! Let's talk about the dogs for a moment - this can either be a pro or a con. If dogs frighten you, then take heed - you may run in to some here. Now, most people won't even be aware that you're ALLOWED to bring your dog and sit on the patio, but in summer months, don't be surprised to see at least one or two canines on the deck. Locals know about the pet-friendly nature of this establishment, and they take full advantage of it. The food gets an "A" for effort - there are some dishes on the menu that you just won't find in many other Berks County establishments. And in that regard, I like where their head's at. But at the same time, if you're going leave your comfort zone, you'd better know what you're doing. Take, for example, the lobster roll. A New England mainstay, this iconic sandwich is often imitated, never duplicated. Hell, even McDonald's has even rolled out their take this summer (https://www.thrillist.com/news/nation/lobster-rolls-return-to-some-mcdonalds-locations-for-2016). There's a lobster roll on the menu here, and it's an abomination. The roll itself was a limp, soggy mess, but what should have been the star - ya know, the lobster - was a chalky, flavorless mess. Is there imitation lobster? I know there's imitation crab ("krab"), but at least the texture is somewhat similar. Perhaps humanity hasn't perfected imitation lobster just yet. Or maybe this was actual lobster but aged entirely too long (hint: aging lobster isn't a thing). Lobster meat should be a sumptuous delight. The lobster here has scarred me for life. Ok, that's it for the negativity. Some standouts? The beer selection. This place earns every right to have "taproom" in its name. Craft beer enthusiasts will be in for a treat. I also like their unique take on classic dishes. Take the pierogi appetizer for example. No, it's not a dozen pathetically sized frozen pierogies thrown on a plate with a side of sour cream. Try to imagine a giant potato pancake, folded in half, topped with sauteed peppers, melty cheese, and smothered in jalapeno ranch and fresh chunky salsa. Pierogies, meet the south west. Really pleasurable experience overall. The chefs can sometimes be a little overambitious for their own good, but I do appreciate their attempt to spruce up timeless classics.

Their veggie wrap is tasty! Thanks for adding something I can order straight off the menu, and it was rolled perfectly.

Was not crowded at all No bread to the table. They charge a credit card fee which is funny because my credit card is the reason I went there for a promo. I had the scallops and they were pretty good. Not much of a side on these. Wife had braised short rib and that was a good size portion and she enjoyed it. Would like to try the 2nd floor if we go here again.

While visiting from California, we met friends here as halfway point, not knowing what we were walking into so completely bias and giving this place a full chance. It's beautiful inside and out; so why is it so dead? The service was more than subpar. The place was really empty inside, but it took about 10-15 minutes for all of us to get our cocktails and they all came out at different times, so none of us had them together. What's more, due to food allergies and sensitivities, I requested my salad with dressing on the side, with shrimp; because I'm allergic to chicken. My salad came out smothered in dressing, with no protein. The server returned to our table and apologized for the missing protein, taking the salads back to the kitchen and returning with mine topped with chicken... 2 of our meals were completely wrong. At the end of the meal, two salads and and a couple glasses of wine were $93... I have to give them 3 stars. It was just alright at the end of the day.

I saw the reviews for The Trapp Door on Yelp and we just had to stop. Having said that - had we not known we had a destination we would have completely driven past. On the outside it's a completely unassuming place that you would think only draws a local crowd as the town bar. Let me tell you.....first appearances are completely deceiving. The Trapp Door is just a magical secret. Ok so maybe it's not a secret to many but I will tell you why it's worth driving to. Philly people - you must come here! NJ people - you too! If you look up the definition of Gastropub - this is it. I've traveled all over the world and tried many who claim to be Gastropubs - this place is the true definition. The service is as friendly as you can get. They make you feel comfortable and as if you were a local and as if you have known them forever. We were 3 guests and as appetizers we had the bone marrow and the duck confit, then had the smoked trout and the Spanish chorizo. The duck, bone marrow and home made smoked trout ( and I'm not necessarily a fish fan) were absolutely amazing. Already dreaming about. Seriously -to write home about. The chorizo was good but average. Then we split a burger - medium rare - and let me tell you - if you are craving a burger - you will fall in love! Cooked exactly as we had requested. They also had homemade condiments. Phenomenal. One of us decided we should order desserts and many times after having such a great meal - I'm apprehensive of ruining it by ordering dessert since sometimes it's not a speciality and leaves you a bit disappointed. Yeah, no. You will just be even more in love. We had the pumpkin crème brûle ( Im over all the pumpkin and was apprehensive however it was spectacular and the pumpkin was true pumpkin - not forced). We also had the ginger apple cobbler - wow! Ginger is just right. The dough was perfectly light and fluffy and crispy. A hard trifecta to master. The beverages and beers do not disappoint and need little introduction. This places deserves a visit. Make your way there even if a bit out of the way. It's worth every single extra mile. You won't be disappointed. We will be back. Thank you to Abby (try the drink named after her. She's just as nice), Taylor, Sue and the chef - Nate Thatcher. Wow!!!! I may have set the bar too high ( no I haven't) so let me lower it - so I'll close with. Yeah go try it. It's ok. He he he he.
