Go to the Liberty Tax office on Valley Blvd in Alhambra and ask for Michael. Michael has been doing my tax for a few years now and I ONLY recommend him. He is a wonderful tax prepare, super patient and efficient. The office is located in an unassuming, tiny office packed with old furnitures, but Michael's service shines like a genuine gemstone. He provides excellent service and the price is very reasonable. I highly recommend Michael's boss to give him a raise because I would not be a customer here if it wasn't for his impeccable service. Btw, it is time for the owner to discard all the outdated furnitures and give his employees new comfortable desks and chairs. This small investment is definitely worth it! NEVER COME HERE!!! This place is probably the shadiest tax place I have ever encountered in my life. EVER!! Today was my first time actually setting foot inside the business. There I saw papers and junk stacked all over the back of the store. The place looks run down and dirty to say the least. So, long story short. My mom, under the recommendation of her friend, came here to file taxes. She owed some random amount which I had paid via check--that she brought over for them to send out. Things were fine until last week when I received a another bill from the IRS for some random amount she owed. Confused, I asked her to follow up--and she did. She came in and spoke to the owner and he brushed her off saying "its nothing---just leave it". Um no. You don't just "leave it" when it comes to the IRS. So I decided to come in myself. Right from the get go, the old man had a bad attitude. Tried to dispute that I had ever paid (although the credit was CLEARLY WRITTEN on the IRS bill). Then when I showed him my actual check from my bank statement, he tried to tell me that theres no proof that it was a check to the IRS---and that he needs to see the actual check....um hello? the IRS has the actual check and the check clearly says IRS in the "pay to" section---seriously? WTF. Next he wanted to see my entire bank statement and get an actual copy--which also sounds super sketch. At the end, he tells me to come back when I can get an actual paper statement my MY bank account. Thats when I lost my shish-ka-bob. Nobody is gonna see my bank account--especially not these guys. The whole time, this man was squinting with his face literally 1 inch away from the monitor--I get it, you can't see--but like c'mon, maybe you shouldn't be doing taxes anymore then. Don't try to argue and make it seem like we f'd up, because my mom followed your instructions---and now we still owe money. Avoid like theres no tomorrow. read more

I recently went here for fingerprints/livescan, all that jazz~~ Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised at the PRICE ! It was muchhh cheaper than what my mom got charged elsewhere for the same application process. Used that extra money to buy some bread at 85 degree bakery after yay! Doing taxes early! Give me my money! When I see a Statue of Liberty on each corner waving at me I know tax time is here. I wave back btw. This year I went the day I got my W2s, coupons in hand and hopeful that I wouldn't get ripped off with an outrageous preparation fee. I've been a good customer, coming to this particular Liberty since H&R Block pissed me off a few years back. Mr. Ho runs the place and typically remembers you from year to year. It's not a fancy place, but it is sufficient for the purpose. The preparer that I had was friendly and did a good job explaining things to me, and even after years of going here, I still ask questions about everything and question each charge. It was good thing I actually read everything before I sign, because they almost snuck in a bank processing fee and a filing fee. By my asking about it and changing my options to pay up front, I saved $60. Very cool promotion going on right now. I grabbed a coupon off my door handle, brought it in when I went and Mr. Ho handed me a $50 bill! I like that. Plus, I got a returning customer discount, and felt like they weren't trying to rip me off. All in all, I didn't feel I was throwing away money and walked away happy with my tax place and ready to spend my $50 :) Also, for each new person that you send there that acknowledges they went there because of you, you are given $20! They take appointments, but its more of a walk in place. He's straight up. Kinda but will be straight with you. He'll give you tips. Great person to learn from if you're interested in understanding. He's quick, and cares to help. Customer service - its a small store. Don't expect corporate style services and procedures. It'll be busy during the busy season so brace yourself. I've been filing here for the past 3 or so years and haven't had an issue. Up until i found out that the CEO of this company is refusing to help out their customers with any issues regarding their stimulus checks being sent to this shady place! Whenever i call their offices the older man (who I'm assuming is the manager?) is so rude and unhelpful. He won't even let me ask a question, he just hangs up on me. What an awful thing to be doing to your loyal customers during a pandemic, when so many people are struggling to make ends meet. Although I am very upset with the way Liberty tax has dealt with the Stimulus issues, i am grateful for the help i have received in the past with your tax preparer, Mario. Came here for live scan, and I was super happy with how things went! The price was MUCH more affordable than any other place I looked into in LA. $3 charge if you use credit or debit cards, and if you take cash try to have exact change. The manager was the only one there, and he helped me super fast. I was probably there less than 10 min. Lots of these reviews say he is rude/not friendly etc but he was very kind to me and helped me with any questions I had. Seems like how you treat him is how you're treated in return! I called this place because they have a sign outside of their business saying that you can pay 50% less than their competitors and first off the guy was mumbling I could barely even understand or hear him. Then I continued to ask more questions and he wasn't that helpful , I definitely won't be coming here to do my taxes. Found this place on Yelp to do a live scan! There's a huge FREE parking structure in the back and you and can enter Liberty Tax from the back entrance. Went through this mini maze and stumbled to a somewhat big office with many empty desks/chairs with only two employees working. Went up to one & told him why I was here... then BAM, he did the live scan! There was no wait, it took him under 5 minutes and he gave me two additional copies! The live scan costs $20 (cash). I came in today for a Livescan in 100 degree heat. I parked in the back parking lot, had there not been a space, there is a gigantic parking structure behind the lot. Walking inside was a glorious relief from the summer heat. The air conditioned space was nice and cool. Inside it is quite a cluttered space that looks like a paperwork nightmare. It truly didn't bother me, but it could bother a neat freak :) My Livescan was done quick and easy! I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. My fee was $69 for a DOJ and FBI LiveScan which is about the same as the cheapest places you can find in the Los Angeles area (I've had one done before and have called around). I paid cash, but they mentioned there is a $2 fee for credit/debit card payments. Fast. Painless. Priced competitively! read more

I spoke to the manager here because he supervises both Alhambra locations. He was unapologetic that they had never sent in my fingerprints to the school district where I work. I was forced to redo my fingerprints and was sent to an incorrect location to do so by the manager, which was extremely stressful with a newborn baby. A number of teachers and staff from 2 districts were unable to begin work when school started because this place didn't send in the results of their live scans. read more

I just had a Live Scan fingerprint done here for my new job. I was charged $54 for the service. I thought this price was high, but I needed it done. I looked online afterwards and the most expensive place I found in LA County was $35. Most prices ranged from $12-20. Liberty is a ripoff. Go somewhere else. read more

I came here to do a notary and it was quick, easy, and inexpensive. I like the fact that I didn't even have to make an appointment and can get it done right away. I also stop by every once in a while to make photocopies whenever I'm in a hurry and don't feel like driving all the way to FedEx. One time I had to fill out a W-4 form online for a job, and I was completely baffled on all that tax language. All I had to do was to answer a simple tax question, but I had absolutely no idea how to answer it. I called this place up on a whim. The owner of Liberty Tax was extremely helpful to me over the phone and gave me really good advice. He knew exactly what he was talking about. He knew the right answers depending on how much money you're making and whether or not if you plan to file jointly or separately from your spouse. I truly appreciated his help.
