I suppose the food is fine enough, but I've had several subpar experiences with their mussels here. It's not a hipster establishment, but the prices do make one question this restaurant's lore. I cannot reconcile the high price with the lack of quantity, regardless of "quality." Truly, I always come back because it's close to home and albeit sounds good, but Pepino's happy hour menu can't be beat imo. They also have nice pasta and it's only $10 on Thursdays instead of $15-23. I understand that Licari's is upscale Sicilian, but I think I prefer establishments that deliver on food and price rather than just talking a big game. A very cozy modern atmosphere. There's plenty of light and it feels welcoming. I ordered some Garlic Bread ($4) for an appetizer. 4 slices of a superb garlic bread. Very tasty with a fresh garlic taste. My only complaint is they don't give you enough sauce to go with it. I had read that they have one of the best pizzas in Michigan. So I ordered a small Amore Pizza ($20). This has House-made sausage, ham, bacon, pineapple, mozzarella cheese, and tomato sauce. I got mine without the pineapple. The pizza was good. It just wasn't special. The ingredients all seemed tasty enough. The crust wasn't my favorite, but I didn't dislike it either. I brought some home and I liked it even less cold. I've had so many better pizzas. Not sure how people think it's the best. The service was outstanding. Definitely service with a smile and enthusiasm. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? For the pizza, no. Maybe to try something else. It is definitely an above average place, just maybe not for me. read more

Such a strange location. Right next to a gas station. Restaurant suggestion by a friend but when I showed up I didn't know if I was in the right place. We were greeted kindly when we arrived and seated promptly. I was impressed by the extensive drink and food menu. I enjoyed a housemate limoncello cocktail which was delicious. We have the mushroom pizza, Calamari and bruschetta. Everything came out hot and fast. We celebrated a birthday and the waitress was kind enough to write happy birthday in topping next to the cheese cake slice. Overall nice stop. Interesting place to be. After trying the pesto pizza on my first visit, I've been craving it ever since. Pesto pizza includes homemade pesto, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, grilled chicken, cheese, and balsamic glaze. The Capone pizza was full of flavor starting with their delicious homemade red sauce, capicollo, salami, pepperoni, sausage, and mozzarella. We love Licari's! We went on a Friday night and it was decently busy but we got seated right away in a booth, which is amazing. Licaris has a great list of cocktails and beers (although we had to ask for the beer list). I had their February special, which was a version of their espresso martini called "tainted loved". For food, we had the pesto rosso pasta, and the Michelangelo pizza. Both were very rich, either really unique flavor profiles, which we love. The pesto rosso had a few realllyyy salty bites, which I think was due to the sausage, and it was fine, just a bit surprising! We finished our night with cannolis, of course, because you can't go to Licari's without getting a cannoli! Licari's is a great spot for a low key date night or even a family night out! read more

We were thrilled to stop in on a busy Thursday, get a table and be served some of the best pizza ever. We were starving so we started with Burrato Di Buffalo. I've never had it before and it was really good. The crust was crispy and the cheese & ham inside just melted out when you cut it. I'd definitely order it again. One of my girls ordered a kids pepperoni pizza which was not only really good but huge for a kids pizza, we were impressed. My other daughter had spaghetti and a meatball. She said it was her favorite she's ever had. The sauce was very red & fresh and the meatball was really tender and flavorful. I love classic pizza but I also love fun funky pizzas with not your classic toppings. The Pesto pizza might have been my favorite. They start with a tasty crust, add pesto sauce, chicken, goat cheese, sun dried tomatoes, shredded mozzarella & a balsamic reduction drizzle. Wow was this pizza good! The other pizza we ordered was a Capone. This is a fun take on a meat lovers. Like a meat lovers with only the best ingredients on steroids! It's topped with Capicolla, salami, pepperoni, house made sausage & shredded mozzarella. They're cooked perfectly. My only complaint is the pizza pan they're served on. The bottom of the crust got a bit soggy from sitting in the delicious juice/grease from the meats, cheese & sauce. They make pizza pans either raised nibs to allow airflow so the moisture doesn't cause the pizza to get soggy. They're still getting a 5 start from me because this food is just out of this world! The restaurant was very clean, it was bright inside, plenty of windows to look out and they offer bar seating, tables & booths. I 100% recommend you giving them a try. read more

Our waitress was probably covering half the restaurant and bar tending. She did good and we actually didn't experience a lot of wait time. Refilling waters was a little slow but that's it. Would have liked some complimentary bread I know that isn't standard anymore it's just our first dish the eggplant rótulo could have used some bread to dip in. We went for the pizza since their pizza was declared award winning. It's handcrafted fresh pizza, I would like to know which pizza they are most well known for and try that. I am thinking I would like to come back and sit outside in the summer. Because inside the venue is a little deflating. Pros: the food was EXCELLENT! We had pastas and sandwiches -all were fantastic. Good flavor profiles and cooked perfectly. Cons: the prices were a bit steep and there were no extras. For example, the pastas range from $16-$20. Pasta does NOT come with bread or salad -just the pasta. You can add garlic bread for $4. Sandwiches were about $16. They were decent size, but the portion was not commensurate with the price. Our waitress was very friendly, but a smidge inattentive. We were only checked on once before leaving and our drinks went dry (it wasn't busy). The atmosphere was bright, clean, and nicely decorated. I was surprised I hadn't posted a review yet for Licari's, having been here numerous times since it opened a handful of years ago. The food is always good, I think the wait staff is above average in friendliness and I especially like the meatball appetizer (polpetti al forno). I don't typically get pizza here but it's pretty good. The arrancini is also good. Decent beer selections if wine isn't your thing, and if you're near the north side of Hudsonville this is a great spot to try and worth driving to if you're not so close either! read more

Our server was nice but we had to ask for refills and she was a bit condescending. She was a little pushy "sneaky" about pushing bread, dips for chips etc and Did not say there was an extra charge for the bread or dips. My husband was going to upside to the salad instead of chips until he found out they only had vinegrette dressing which he doesn't like. The server said "well if you can't see through it you shouldn't be eating it!". Really? For the prices they charge there should be complimentary bread or a side salad included in the cost. The portion sizes were adequate but again not for the cost. My pancetta pasta at special price was 19.00 and that was just for the pasta. No bread and a small side salad would have been 9.00. The boss sandwich was good and came with home made chips. Dip for chips would have been extra Meatball sub with chips (again a small can of sauce -maybe 2 tablespoons) was extra cost. The meatballs were mushy no texture. My pancetta pasta was very good but I can't stress enough while it was enough for me it was by no means a large portion and should have red come with bread or a side salad. Just even one piece of garlic bread or a knot? The pasta Rosetta was good but same portion as my entree and same stands for bread or salad I've never been to an Italian restaurant that you didn't get a side salad or bread with the entree. Prices were pretty high, no lunch specials & food was good buttttttttt not that good We had to ask for refills and the server was not attentive but she was also waiting on probably 10 other people. SUPERB, truly! We came on a weekend night and were sat immediately. I can tell this a local spot that had its loyalists. I want to be one! A couple glasses of GOOD house wine and Rustica pie was out of this world excellent! Kalamatas, fresh tomatoes, artichokes, breadcrumbs...I'm a meat lover but this pie was DELICIOUS! Twice I've been here with my family and both times we've had Shauna as our waitress. Both times she had made rude remarks about our children and making it known they were annoying to her. This last time I shut it down quickly and she then just gave A poor attitude the rest of the time. Called to speak with Brian the GM and he told me it's not a chuckechees, and made up lies and exaggerations of our time there. He also said we our children are chaotic. Here's the main point, our children arent naughty and they do act like kids because they are children. This restaurant is not family friendly and surprised they don't have a dress code just to dine there. Never have I been so disrespected and poorly treated while eating somewhere. We went here for dinner on a Thursday. I was surprised the interior wasn't more cozy and I tomato considering the outside. We had the arancini and mussels for appetizers. Both were ok. Maybe we're spoiled by having arancini in Sicily but these needed more cheese and more salt. The marinara they were served on was not very good. The mussels were cooked well and had good flavor. I'm not a huge fan of tomato based sauces but this one was ok. I wished it had more of the wine and herb taste though. The garlic bread that came with it was over salted and needed more garlic flavor. We split two pizzas for dinner, the verde and the Michael Angelo. Both were very good! The toppings were so tasty. The crust was pretty thick. I wished the crust was either thinner or had something like a garlic butter on it and that the toppings went all the way to the edge. For dessert we shared the salted caramel chocolate cheesecake. My favorite part of the meal! It had just enough salt and caramel and chocolate to balance the cheesecake and not overwhelm. We would come back if we were nearby or family wanted to go but not sure we'd seek it out again. read more
