What I like most about this location specifically is where it's located because if you're on a lunch break or you just had dinner, you're just out for a walk. In case you are not familiar with this brand, they are originally from Austin and all their ice cream is made with real ingredients and they also work with local farmers. They have numerous ice cream flavors to choose from, as well as some seasonal ones. My go-to ice cream is their goat cheese, thyme and honey ice cream. If you want something that is subtly sweet but not overpowering, you gotta try it! One unique thing about this particular location inside The Pearl is that they also have a window where you can place an order without going inside. This is particularly helpful to families with strollers since the indoor space can be a little tight. With that in mind, they do offer a few tables inside but are very limited. Came here during a hot Saturday afternoon after walking along the Riverwalk. Thank goodness this was here. Such a nice reprieve. Place was obviously packed. They had so many interesting flavors. I love this place always get ice cream when I'm in the area. But this particular day I was looking at the menu outside and when I went in I asked for the " lady bird" ice cream which was on the menu outside. The young woman who helped me instantly rolled her eyes an put her hands up at the menu. She said nothing else and I just asked is it not in the menu anymore cause it was outside? And she said absolutely nothing and put her hands up back at the menu and slammed her hands down on the counter. I kept on wanting to crack Jack Sparrow jokes, but we were meeting my buddies' girlfriend and I didn't want her to think I was insane. Plus, I know they weren't that funny so I kept them to myself. Lick, located in the heart of the Black Pearl, delivered one of my favorite ice cream flavors I've had in a MINUTE. Blueberry crumble. It actually tasted like real blueberry, and had little bites of actual crumble sprinkled in. I paired it with a honey vanilla bean flavor and it was oddly reminiscent of a Tony Parker and Manu Ginobli pairing. All the ingredients are locally sourced, AND IT SHOWS! Damn I just looked at their website for a little research and look at this about section: "We never use artificial colors or flavors, high fructose corn syrup or preservatives, ever! We can trace every single ingredient we use to its source. Ice cream shouldn't just taste good -- we believe it should also be good. All of the milk and cream used to make our ice creams comes from single herd, family-owned farms where the welfare of their grass-fed cows is the highest priority." Damn that is music to my ears. A couple of the flavors were less noticeable to me, like the beets in the beet+mint and the goat cheese wasn't goaty (I like my goat dairy goaty, but I understand most don't). What really surprised me was that I opted for the coconut milk chocolate chocolate. It was so good! I also did end up with the beet mint, though I think the beets are more there for novelty and color than flavor. Another review mentioned irregular sizing and I noticed that too between my companion and I - the gal who did mine had much larger scoops than the gal who did my companion's, and it was a very notable amount of ice cream in difference for the same price.
