Let me preface this by saying I'm not an ice cream person because I don't tolerate milk. I was at the bottleworks block party and was craving dessert like crazy. Ventured in to see there was a vegan chocolate marshmallow option. It was DELICIOUS! My daughter tried passion fruit and was pretty disappointed but she likely had no idea what she was choosing. Great spot for ice cream Food: ordered the mocha cheesecake flavor after sampling a few different flavors. Great texture, creaminess, and chocolate chunks were a nice add. I didn't really get any cheesecake flavor from it though. Service: great service! Provided recomendations and allowed us to split a single scoop into two cups which was really nice. Also nice enough to let us sample a few before making a decision. Very fast ssrvice and friendly Price: decent price for scoop size and quality. Ambiance: this shop is inside the garage food hall market which is a really nice place to eat sit and enjoy various food options. It's a casual lively vibe with lots of chatter and movement. Where else have you seen ice cream flights??? I think that immediately gives them a 5 star rating personally. They also have the most unique ice cream flavors. The ones I most recently tried were vegan cookie butter, champagne & berries, and coffee chip. They were all DELISH, but champagne & berries was top tier. It tasted like a sorbet and vanilla ice cream combined - for sure one of the best ice creams I've ever had! read more

Whoa! I love this place. They have very unique flavored ice cream flavors that don't sound good but do (if that makes sense). I don't remember the flavor that I got nor my husband, (I think it was milk & honey) just know it was bomb. I want to highlight their waffle cone! OMG! You have to get their waffle cone. It's literally the best waffle cone I've ever tasted. I want to say it has a nice cinnamon-y flavor and was just so perfect. It's located inside the garage food hall with a bunch of different places to eat. They even have vegan ice cream! I definitely gave that extra star for creativity because who thinks to put Gorgonzola cheese in ice cream but make it taste good? read more

A great stop after we had lunch at The Garage. I had the vegan chocolate marshmallow which was delicious. It was made with coconut milk and had lots of cinnamon-y flavor. Small batch ice cream in unique flavors. We sampled a few flavors and then ordered cranberry shortbread, pumpkin spice oat crumble, and spiced apple butter. The Gorgonzola candied pecan was like a rich and strongly flavored cheesecake, unique and excellent! Easiest ice cream win I've ever been! Tiny bit inside The Garage, serving up incredible unreal blends that defy all expected dairy addicts. I wanted to sample everything but controlled myself to the mascarpone, that's right, cheese royalty in the frozen custard! A sure sweet trip worthy of crowns however tho it was refined I panicked and did the safer bet of rose pistachio brittle stuff. Was hugely perfect, my sister had the vegan chocolate marshmallow which was also plenty righteous. This is now an obvious must get to for all appetites. read more

I'm so happy they have a location at the Garage Food Hall! Who doesn't want some ice cream after lunch? I had a small lemon curd and gingersnap in a waffle cone and it was delicious. The lemon curd ice cream was flavored beautifully and the chunks of gingersnap were delicious. I really loved this combination. The waffle cone was fresh and crisp. No, this isn't the cheapest ice cream in town, but compare it to $10 restaurant desserts and it's a great deal. This ice cream is worth it! I can't wait to try more flavors. read more

I look forward to Lick ice cream every time I'm visiting Indy! I remember the first time I had Lick when I used to live in Indy - it was just a small ice cream cart in a little shop on the east side. I love to see their growth every time I'm back. They even have a Broad Ripple location now! I particularly enjoy Lick because they have wonderful vegan ice cream. I got the vegan chocolate marshmallow in a small cup, and this was not the first time I've tried it. So delicious. My dad got the dark chocolate peppermint in a cone and enjoyed his too. While I rave about Lick because of the vegan options, my friends/family who have tried it have also loved it. This location maybe had 8-10 options and rotate over time. They do allow samples. Quick service. It is a bit pricey but well worth it for the great quality ice cream! read more

While I was over picking up my swag bag for this week's Yelpies, I decided to take the opportunity to go check out the recently opened Garage Food Hall at Bottleworks and to check out all the renovations. Oy. This place is awesome. One of the additions is the relocated Lick Ice Cream, a former Circle City Industrial Complex business now housed inside the Food Hall. Lick is a locally owned micro-creamery that uses organic dairy and made from scratch ingredients to create rather masterful ice cream concoctions. They offer ice cream cones, dishes, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, and a handful of other things. This is an ideal location for Lick. It seems like the Bottleworks management has made a tremendous effort to create a diverse menu and to do what they can to ensure everyone's success. Their stand is a little bit awkward as it's at the end of an aisle and in the current pandemic it's a little difficult to maintain social distancing while also making it obvious you're in line. Fortunately, everyone was polite and it worked out just fine. The Food Hall is pretty good with access - they have a parking lot (paid) with accessible spots and all the entries are level to the ground. The Hall has a mix of taller and shorter tables. Right now, everything is well distanced - this keeps everyone safe, but it also means you might have to look a little bit for a table. However, I had little difficulty finding a wheelchair friendly table. The Bottleworks complex has people cleaning quite frequently. I noticed that anytime someone left a table, someone was there right away to clean and disinfect. Likewise, they were very proactive about removing trash. I ordered a regular scoop of milk chocolate. It was a healthy serving coming in at right about $5.45. They have a small scoop that comes in less than a five spot. They had about a dozen or so flavors available. As expected, the ice cream was wonderful with a sublime chocolatey flavor that lingered even after I'd left. Of course, that might also have been the chocolate on my mouth. Seriously, it's nice to see Lick get this terrific spot and while it's indoors it felt safe and distanced. Everyone was masked and disinfectant stations were throughout the complex (but not in a way that ruined the decor - very tastefully done). While it doesn't appear that quite everything in the Food Hall is locally owned, several of the options are and it's a joy to see. There's ethnic diversity and multiple options I can't wait to try. I'll definitely be returning to Lick and most likely getting a bit more adventurous with my taste buds in the future. The person working today was super friendly and hospitable. Locally owned and high quality ice cream? Count me in. I'll for sure be back. read more

After several years of being hard to find unless you frequent Farmers Markets or the Circle City Industrial Complex, it's nice to see the sisters behind the delicious ice cream company Lick land a spot in the new Bottleworks Garage. All the same flavors and all the things you like about the ice cream itself, but now located where you can grab a meal from one of the other vendors in the garage. All the ice cream is made completely free of artificial ingredients, even food coloring. So, not as wide a range of colors, but pure, fresh flavor all the same. Although the production part of the business is likely to stay at the previous location at the CCIC, a new, more accessible store front went into the Bottleworks Garage (Just north of 9th Street). I ordered a small bowl of champagne cherry ice cream and was thrilled with the flavor! Make this a must visit place when you visit the Garage. p.s. Yum! This location is part of the new Garage at Bottleworks, which is basically a big food court. Lick, as far as I could tell, was the only dessert option available but it definitely didn't disappoint! I couldn't decide on one flavor, so I went with two--orange chocolate and a mint chip. Both were wonderful! They have some signature flavors that are always around as well as others that rotate. read more

This is so dangerous inside of The Garage Food Hall... how can you walk out without getting this? They have some interesting flavor combinations, which I do want to be more adventurous on my next scoop. I got the Brown Butter Cookie Dough, and wow. This is not your regular type of cookie dough. There are some good sized chunks, and the chocolate in the cookie dough was with shaved/thin chocolate - which I loved. The only thing I have to say, selfishly, is that I wish there were more chunks! The Spiced Vegan Chocolate Marshmallow that my boyfriend got was pretty good. I couldn't tell it was vegan. I stole a few bites, but I was happy with my cookie dough :). It was getting a little crowded for our liking when we got our ice-cream, so we headed outside (so, sorry for the dark parking lot pictures). read more

The most delicious waffle I've ever had! You can see the workers make them fresh right in front of you, and they have a wonderful cinnamon tastes to them. I tried the Coffee Chip and Brown Butter Cookie Dough flavors. The coffee flavor was my favorite of the two. The coffee flavor was perfectly balanced. I Normally love this place, I have been here several times over the last few months. Usually indulging in their Vegan chocolate marshmallow ice cream... vegan options are so rare in Indianapolis. Today, I finally brought my family to the Bottle Works with me. We had such amazing food everywhere else. Unfortunately, when I went up to the counter and bought three 1/2 pints (each of which being less then their "two scoops" option) I got one wrong. I'm not sure which of us made the flavor mistake to be honest. Bottle Works is loud and incredibly busy. I took my daughter back up to the counter to see what our options were for switching her ice cream to the one she wanted.... NO OPTIONS ????? Yep, that was the response folks! Buy more, or go away!!! Yikes, feeling really bad about giving my money that I work so hard for to these people. We are not rich, we just paid over 18 dollars for three scoops of ice cream... and one went in the trash can? My husband would not eat it either due to its flavor. I'm feeling just terrible. I didn't want to leave a star at all and I won't make the mistake of spending my money here again. read more

LICK has a variety of options of ice cream that you can't find anywhere else in the city. I sampled the salted caramel sage which was delicious in q small portion but a little too rich for me to have a whole serving. I opted for the strawberry cheesecake in a waffle cone which I can guarantee you is like eating an actual piece of cheesecake. My husband ordered a small bowl of the amaretto chocolate cherry which was also rich and delicious. Not to mention, it's located in one of the coolest new buildings in the city right along Mass Ave! read more

I tried their hot chocolate float with cookies and cream ice cream. I thought the hot chocolate was going to melt the ice cream really quick, but I was able to eat the ice cream and enjoy the whipped cream and hot chocolate too. What can be said that hasn't already been said? I made the mistake of overlooking Lick for years at events and farmer's markets, boy was I a fool! I'm so thankful they're at the Garage. The best part is the waffle cone has a slight cinnamon flavor that I thoroughly enjoy as a cinnamon lover! It does change the profile of the ice cream but I'll never be unhappy about that! read more

I've tried Lick icecream three times (and sampled most flavors) and every time I've left disappointed. Pros: The texture of their icecream is FANTASTIC, and it's in a good location. Cons: The flavors seem to have creativity without refinement. I'm always intrigued by the flavor profiles but they never seem to hit the right balance that is required when you're playing with flavors across the spectrum of taste. The past two experiences were off with customer service as well, with the two people lacking enthusiasm for the job. I'm sure working at the Garage can be busy and overwhelming with so many visitors coming and going, but I would love just a bit more warmth in their service. Verdict: I'm hopefully they'll nail this, so I'll be back in a few months to try again. read more

I was really excited to try this ice cream shop, as I love the location inside the garage food hall. Lick has some unique flavors. My first bite was filled with ice crystals. The ice cream case was about half full, and the flavor I selected was getting close to the bottom of the container. As I kept eating, each bite was filled with tons of ice crystals. The flavor was good, but I couldn't get past the texture with the ice. read more

They have lots of hand scooped options which you can customize to milkshakes or just a regular scoop in cone, cup, or waffle cone. As someone who has tried ice cream at places like Jeni's, Wanderlust, Fosselman's, and McConnell's, I was looking forward to trying new flavors that were delicious. I got a scoop of the Rosewater Pistachio Brittle and immediately, I realized that this was decadent homemade ice cream. Natural ingredients with real pistachios (ones that are not colored green), and an appetizing vanilla base to lay down a foundation. The flavor profile was fascinatingly delicious, and I'm sure that the same craftsmanship goes into the other flavors as well. The owners were friendly as well, and it is clear how much passion they put into their food. The first visit to this place was memorable, amidst the hustle-bustle of the Garage Food Hall. What put this place over the top (and what motivated me to post my first Yelp review) was the sheer helpfulness the owners had when helping me with a birthday gift for my partner. For many years, we searched for basil ice cream, only to find it in one shop in Los Angeles. I asked LICK to see if they would make some, and to my pleasant surprise, they were able to accommodate my special order! The basil ice cream turned out to be wonderfully light with a sweet aftertaste. The italian basil was perfect, not too overbearing, and it complemented the heavy palettes of our dinner. Although this place is pricey due to their natural ingredients and the location, I would highly recommend this place to anyone. It is definitely worth the time and you'll walk out of this place with an expanded palette and a happier mindset! read more

It's a 30-minute drive each way for us, so it's hard to want to even try to go back when we may drive an hour round-trip with nothing to show for it but spent gas money. So we're kinda souring on this place.

We later discussed how, during the Summer, it will be so nice if/when they open that door up to the outside air. You order at the counter, and then they bring it out to your table. My husband returned with a big glass bottle of cold water (and some of the flimsiest plastic cups that I've ever held). The water was a nice, and necessary, touch. The dishes are rich! They are rich in the best way possible, though. The event provided a complimentary crepe with your choice of fruit, and a cookie skillet with ice cream. My husband couldn't decide on which fruit(s) to get, so the employee just told him that they'd hook it up for us. The crepe came out, and it was so beautiful...it was almost too pretty to eat! They provided us with an array of fruit to accompany it; bananas, strawberries, pineapples, and kiwi. The addition of the fruit really helped to cut through the richness of the chocolate. The crepe was the perfect, delicate vehicle for all of it! I probably ate about a 1/3 of it, and tried so save room for the cookie. I'm not a real "sweets" eater, but everything here just looks so good!
