RACIST!!! AND THEY LIE!!!!Please don't find out the hard way. I was a member for over a year paying for a family of 4. First of all I was charged way more than others. Not because of the time I enrolled, but because they charge different rates for different people. That's why their rates aren't advertised because they aren't universal. Secondly after a year, I ran into financial difficulty so of course club membership had to be put on hold. Well, there's no hold or cancel before your next billing cycle, they are going to charge you the next month because you have to let them know 30 days in advance. So since I didn't have the money at the time of placing the account on hold, I couldn't pay for the month in advance. I did het ab email from Alexis from the corporate office in which she asked if I wanted to set up a payment arrangement. I replied yes. I didn't hear back from Alexis but instead a Brittany emailed me back several days later stating to contact her to set up the payment arrangement. That was 2 days ago. I never saw Brittany's email because I was awaiting Alexis' reply. Today Brittany calls to tell me they processed the full amount today. I stated that I emailed Alexis to set up a payment arrangement. She stated she didn't put anything in the notes. So I asked, who is Alexis and she stated she's the account manager. I told Brittany to cancel my account. They do not have the right to access my account without authorization. Sge said very nonchalantly, ok we just need a signature. I vehemently stated You do not have authorization to my checking account from this day forward. And Brittany just kept saying we need a signature. Prior to that Brittany kept saying. No payment arrangement was set up. She said I don't see any notes about a payment arrangement. I quickly headed to this facility and here's when the racism kicks is. I went in to cancel and a very dark skin black man came to hep me cancel. When I reached his office he asked why I wanted to cancel. I explained the entire scenario to him. He said I want to help you out with this. If I can give you some free months would you stay. I said no because they ruined my account and I did agree to a payment arrangement. He went to speak to his supervisor and a blondish red headed man comes in. I explained the scenario again. He asked who's Alexis and I let him know she's the corporate manager. By this time I was contemplating leaving. He says I don't see a hold on your account. I said yes I received an email stating it's set back to begin. I went to my car to grab the phone I searched life time and guess who sent me a reply to the email I sent, Brittany. She acted like she didn't know about tge payment arrangement and Alexis didn't reply because it was Brittany that replied. She blatantly lied. So back to the racism. So little red riding hood, goes on with a horrible snide attitude says yeah we found it and your account starts back up in November. That's a lie because the email says October. I said ok well just cancel. He said ok. No effort in trying to keep me as a customer what so ever. None. I mean like the door is open. So the black man that with all his efforts in trying to keep me was worthless. They want a certain clientele there. White, young and sexy. That's what they cater to in hopes that you'll join so you can look like them. Don't fall for it. Go to a club where you are valued. I've been a member of the YMCA for 18 years and there's a reason why I will never end their membership. They value us as a family. Lifetime will chew you up and spit you out if you miss one payment they will screw you with a straight face. Please don't join and find out the hard way . The amenities are great but if you run into anything they will screw you. And if your black please don't even think about it. read more

Booked an appointment online for a massage at the spa. Once I got there they said that the therapist wasn't there and wasn't scheduled with me since I booked online. They also commented that they couldn't call me because they didn't have my phone number. I told them to forget it and left frustrated. Shortly after they ended up calling me on my cell phone which I did not answer. Guess they do have my number but not good customer service and honesty. read more

First of all, I got my membership for $69 monthly, with a $50 fee and to cancel you only have to give 30 days notice....so there is no contract. Not sure what the complaining is about. Its clean, nice, and high-end. If you don't want the pool or classes then ya, get a 24-hour membership. Don't complain about lifetime just because you don't like the price that you agreed to for what you're getting. read more

I'm frustrated with Life Time! My car was broken into yesterday at 2:30 in the afternoon. The biggest problem in talking to the cop and Lifetime staff they said this happened two weeks ago. I told them this happened two weeks ago and there is no note when we check in informing us of break ins. They said the side of building where I parked right next to building was the area that people broken into cars. Lifetime is one of the more expensive gyms in our area and they can't hire security to ensure the safety of their patrons. This was the Cinco Ranch location. read more

Lose the wannabe drill instructors leading-yelling at the classes in the middle of workout areas. Or at least tone down the screaming and daily battle of the bands between the various boom boxes. Your wood floors and no tile ceilings make for terrible acoustics, and may be making a small group of people happy with all the noise, but most everyone else I know quitting LIfetime really do not care too much for it. read more

Been a member since it opened. I don't have too many complaints other than a few that I'll mention. For starters they definitely should change their policy regarding bringing in guests. One summer I had my niece staying the summer with us & they made it virtually impossible to get in. They said it was the gym's policy blah, blah, blah not to let other people's children swim. I was even willing to pay for her to come in but, they made everything so complicated...it was such a pain! It's not like my niece was safety risk...she's 13 and didn't even want to swim just tan for crying out loud!! Also when it comes to bringing in an adult guest geeeeez that process takes about 30 minutes. They have to fill out a visitor sheet, speak with a salesman (if someone is available, otherwise they make you wait) This policy sucks!! Some people have no intentions of joining the club, nor do they need a walk through of the entire facility...they're there to join ME to work-out so let us do that already!! Why make it do darn complicated. 3rd issue is not allowing anyone under the age of 12 to use the upstairs equipment. HELLOOO? There are plenty of 10 to 12 years capable of utilizing the equipment for it's intended use. Child obesity is at it's all time highest! Not to mention my 11 year doesn't want to hang out in the kiddie area while I work out upstairs! Okay, okay, aside from those gripes I have to say I've been pleased with the gym itself. Would highly recommend any other gym in the area. Vehicle break ins are common as are lockers being broken into. Management here is poor at best facilities are often dirty in both workout areas and locker rooms. The gym is also filled with young teenagers who do not know proper gym etiquette. We have been members for several years and have noticed a significant decline in the past 2 years. Moving to another gym soon. read more

Biggest ripoff ever. It is impossible to get a membership canceled. Samantha in their customer service answering center was rude and obnoxious. If you choose to leave Life Time fitness, do not put your membership on hold. They will lie to you that you must come into a center to cancel. Not true, you can send a certified letter requesting the cancelation or call customer service and have them grant you a "customer service gesture" and complete cancelation via email. Make sure to obtain your 9 digit member number from them first. Will NEVER recommend Life Time Fitness. They will be happy to take your money, then are unethical about cancelations. read more

Rip-Off! Cinco Ranch Branch I requested to cancel my membership in July, 2014 and thought I was good to go BUT i was wrong; Lifetime continued to charge my bank card. I contacted the Cinco Ranch office; spoke with April. Then I spoke with Cindy and finally spoke with the General Manager Scott Baumgardner. Scott promised me that my bank account would not be charged for the month of October but I noticed yesterday another charge in the amount of $204; I left a voice mail for Scott to call but he did not call back to me. read more

This place is a rip off. Over 100 dollars for one person membership for a very over crowed gym! The staff can careless about its customers. They don't even greet you when you sign in because kids run the front half the time. Trainers are annoying too, they have no regard for you when you are working out and they are training people. Staff is very accommodative however, I've had stuff stolen here and there have been numerous drug busts in the parking lot. They also try and take the liability off their shoulder by having you file a police report before checking cameras for the thief that stole my Apple Watch. Lifetime Fitness itself stands for exceptional facilities and normally exceptional customer service. You are paying a premium to go there and it should be held up to high standards in both. I consider the club at the Rim in San Antonio as the gold standard for the other Lifetime clubs I visit. The club at Cinco Ranch does not stand up to this standard. Now I will tell you that the club is immaculate like the other clubs. Everyone is always cleaning. But where it fails is in customer service. Being in the customer service field I know that this is crucial in retaining membership or customers. I come to this gym a few times a week and to this point I have not had one person greet me at the front it in the gym itself. The front desk people are too busy looking at their phones to stop and greet people as they come in. Even if I say hello it's almost as if they can't be bothered. I sat and watched one evening and the girl at the front never looked up from her phone . Three young guys came in never got scanned in, who knows if they were members. I asked a few other members if this is normal at Cinco Ranch and I was told yes the attitude is the norm . Whether that is the case it not, they club offers a service and it's expected that they back that service with exceptional customer service. I get it - we all hate our jobs sometimes but at least look interested when you are there. As I said I like the facility very much and I will keep coming as it is the closest facility near me but would it hurt to have a modicum of customer service here?? read more

I have been a member for more than 10 years and the only reason I kept my membership was for my parents to come with me as my guests a few times per year when they come and stay with me . Every time I take them with me , there is a new rule in place and when I ask them since when the new rule is in place , they tell me we sent you an email . Today after a long working day , I went there with my parents for jacuzzi and steam room and it was 9:30pm and the front desk personnel did not allow them again to get in because the guest hours was changed to 5a-9p . They have no value for their loyal members ! All they do is to raise the membership every year just because they need to make up for their remodeling projects without appreciating the members who cough up for their expenses. read more

I am not quite sure why this place has such great reviews. I have gone here a couple of times with friends, and its like a hotel with some workout equipment. Its not a place that true work out enthusiasts would go. It has too much fluff for me. We go to the Y and for half the price we get the same things this place has, but for much less, and is a lot less crowded. This is a social status place. not some where you actually go to workout and get out. When i am at the gym i like to go to my classes (which by the way, the same teachers that work at this gym giving classes, work at the Y as well) do some weights and leave. I never take showers at the gym, when i live 5 minutes away. I am not sure why people are so intrigued with this place. I don't pick a gym by how beautiful it is, and if i get a free lock for my locker or not. I pick them for functionality. Yes, this gym has stuff, but you can find that at a less expensive gym, with less people to fight over the one machine you need. read more

Tried it out bc I kept hearing it was a nice gym....very wrong! The place is so huge it's very inconvenient if you have small children....the daycare is a disaster zone they have camps and other activities going on I was gone 40 minutes and 2 of my kids were standing by themselves crying I couldn't even find them at first bc there was an ocean of kids and very little staff....they need to have a better ratio and have a waiting list instead of letting so many kids in at once! I always come to this gym i love it but Friday i forgot my stuff in the locker I went next day and locker was open i ask one of the guys that works there He told me. It was just not worth the price. Plus they really pressure you with personal trainers and nutritionists into buying supplements and all these additional services. Just way to expensive and it's so busy during "peek hours" it's hard to get into a class. Forget about cycling unless your 30 mins early. See ya. read more

Update: So yesterday I met with guy #4 and took up this issue - supposedly this gentleman is manager in charge. For starters, he had some new printed material on his desk, that painted an astonishingly different picture. Apparently, the deal of $0 admin fee + $0 enrollment fee + 3 training sessions came at cost of $79. (This totally goes against the advert I got mailed, and the discussion that took place with guy #1). So, the $39 that I paid while enrolling, gave me just one training session - which the trainer (guy #2) used up. I did get one more session loaded into my account, and apparently I could use that for one more strength training session. Conclusion: I have been to car dealerships where people have shown more integrity. read more

Way too many kids here. Literally, there are kids climbing on the equipment and in the "no kids" zone. This club needs to have much better regulations. I enjoy the variety of classes/times offered. They have several pools, which is nice. I like to swim laps and I wear goggles. Unfortunately, there were several disgusting items in the pool the other day, including a bloody band-aid. Lifetime prides themselves on cleanliness but this was disgusting. Also, lots and lots of hair in the women's locker room. I understand women brush their hair and get ready for work, but they need to keep up with the housekeeping more often. Several of the elliptical machines have mold on them. Gross. Stupid that you have to pay more for pilates. Albiet, I have only been to one yoga class here. But there's a reason I didn't go back. The instructor was not "instructing" and there was an assumed choreography that was hard to learn and keep up with if you had not been to the class before. Did not enjoy. read more

I will say classes are decent - Total Conditioning will kick your ass, in a good way. And Life Time's web specialist Dakota is helpful. However customer service is HORRIBLE and cancellations are more painful than in that episode of Friends. If you ever think you might move away or take a leave when traveling or need to put your account on hold for a medical reason, the fine print is impossible to go through and you will inevitably still get billed for months that you never get to use the gym. $70+ is no rounding error for extra monthly expenses. Try reaching the general manager Kelly or calling the corporate line (888 430 6432) without killing half an hour of your time and patience. The corporate line is especially egregious with rude, unhelpful, patronizing people. read more

I moved down to Houston this summer and was really looking for a place to help me get back in shape. In my experience of working out I always felt like nicer more equipped gyms kind of inspired me to work harder. This place is the nicest I've seen. It has every machine I could think of and is set up in a very efficient manner. If you want to work out your arms, go to this row, same thing for every body part. The staff are very friendly, I'm sure thats company policy, but its a good one. I'm looking forward to taking some of the group workout classes and using the rock climbing wall. The pools are also nicer than the one in my neighborhood so I figure I'll be hitting them up. One of the nicest things about this gym is that even the patrons feel friendly too. I hate those gyms where its only "hardcore" body builders who sneer at "normal" people using their gym. Lifetime had many families coming and going and is definitely a suburb gym. Watchout for the salespeople though, they will talk you into using the complimentary LTbucks (incentive dollars given to you for signing up to use for services at Lifetime), without you knowing you are using them. such as getting a personal trainer appraisal, which they make you think its free. Altogether a great place and I'm looking forward to my membership read more

I have not had the same subpar experiences as I've seen in some of the other disparaging reviews. I'm in my 3rd week and LOVE it. My whole family loves it. We even got my California in-laws in on a one week guest pass, and my mom signed up as well. I am a chronic gym-o-phobe and would have never upheld a gym routine before Lifetime. The facilities are clean and upscale, with awesome amenities like indoor AND outdoor pools AND waterslides which my gradeschool age kids are obsessed with (that, and the rock wall amd basketball courts) so even on days of diminished motivation, I have the hammering persistence of my children to get me off my ass and make the drive to Lifetime. Then there's the spa - which I cannot wait to take advantage of - and the cafe where you can grab a great Chocolate Peanut Butter Almond Delight post-workout smoothie. Even a eucalyptus steam chamber in the locker room. Nice! I find the staff to be pretty friendly, unlike another reviewer. I have taken a few classes so far and have felt warmly welcomed and not pressured at ALL even when I can't keep up. I do suggest employing common sense and arriving 5-10 minutes before the scheduled start time to ensure your spot, as this is a popular gym. My observation is that there are members of all fitness levels and objectives in every area, and even as a newbie I don't feel judged or intimidated (or really even much noticed) by the other worker-outers. My 16 year old daughter and I also shared a training session by Sheila who is sweet and patient. I joined this gym originally for my toddler to have a place to get her daily wiggles out, and it would "force" me to wiggle in the meantime. But ultimately we lose an important star here because the playcare people seem like they hate their lives. They don't change diapers, which is fine, but they also don't wipe noses or do very much to soothe a crying child. I don't like to feel like I'm throwing my baby into a scene from Lord of the Flies so I can enjoy a luxury fitness facility. Guilt issues. My solace is that she is a cheerful child who is happy to play independently or with other kids. Not a big crier in those settings. Selfishly I also wish they had tanning but I can understand why they don't. It's super controversial, yeah yeah... there's Planet Beach across the street. In the end, I have referred people to this gym and will continue to do so because it stands out above and beyond any other gym I've been to since 1996. But I will stop by Member Services regarding the playcare staff and bring my youngest duckling only when there's no other arrangement for her. read more

This is the best gym around.. clean great staff the best group fitness instructors around they are at an entirely different level and I have gone to multiple gyms .. its a family that is created between you and other members there and even the staff. The have state of the art everything .. I do triathlons and they have the best pools, spin bikes treadmills around to train with .. nothing like cinco lifetime .. its the best and totally worth the membership dues. People get hung up on the price of it , if you are really into the gym and working out you will never go any place after lifetime cinco ... they offer more classes than any other gym around and are open 24 - 7. Even holidays... the best in town for sure. read more

When I joined this gym I was told that there would always be someone available to help with using the equipment. That was not true. Many times the machines I wanted to use were broken. The staff was not courteous when asked for help. The classes were so full that there was not enough room for everyone wanting to participate. This gym membership was a big disappointment. read more

Place is always clean! Plenty of towels always available. The locker does not stink of sweat, which means it is maintained cleaned. It is definitely the priciest gym in the area. Lifetime is pretty fancy. I was hooked when I visited because of the luxuriousness and the variety of areas and activities. The pool is a big plus. Dry and steam sauna, nice showers equipped with soap, clean towels everywhere. It's not really filled with juicers either. They even have a cafe (haven't tried). It's crazy expensive compared to the others... but if you plan to spend a lot of time in the gym, it's the place to be. read more

Very cool, my daughter loves it. The summer camp is so fun they get to go swimming pretty much every day but sadly the indoor pool has been under construction for 2 weeks. The field trips are great, she loves Yoga day and overall has had a decent summer. 3 stars because they need to spend more time on interacting with the kids and not a free for all on the basketball court the majority of the time expecting the kids to entertain themselves. read more

Although Lifetime is usually a nice fitness center, one of the emplyees by the name of Caroline is EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. I have attended many gyms and sporting events in the past and I have never met anyone as degrading as her. Here is an example- one day my friend and i were planning on attending a dance jam class at ltf. So we walk in, and Caroline first of all does not even greet us, and second of all turns my friend away just because her Dad was away on a business trip (despite the fact that she is 18!). Anyway, we leave completely disheartened and Carlone immediatley turns to the male employee next to her and whispers and points and looks in our direction. Can we be mature adults please?? C'mon Caroline. All in all, Caroline ruined the entire experience for us with her rudeness and disrespect. Work on hiring kinder employees, Lifetime. read more
