I've belonged to this gym for a year now and it was such a great decision. They have such a wide variety of classes. This is one of my favorite parts because sometimes that is what helps to get me to the gym when I'm tired. There is a huge variety of cardio and weight equipment. I never have to wait. The locker rooms and showers are sparkling clean. There is a rock wall and a fantastic racquetball court. You have the option of an indoor or outdoor pool. There is even a full spa. I am already familiar with the Life Time facility and visited this weekend with the sole intention of signing up for membership. After a friend/coworker and I sat down to discuss packages with someone from the sales team, we asked to also have details on corporate partnership, as our workplace has been looking to subsidize gym memberships for its employees. That's when we had the unpleasant experience of speaking with the Sales Manager Yassna. Right off the bat, she approached us pretty aggressively, asking what information we needed. After explaining our situation, Yassna immediately questioned why we visited Life Time as opposed to another gym that offered lower rates, and whether or not my friend and I could even afford the memberships as individuals. We, at first confused, responded with silence in a failed attempt to keep the conversation from being too uncomfortable. Then, Yassna proceeded to call the pair of us, 25 and 27 year old women (she obviously assumed we were younger), "very cute" and explain that this was "probably not the right gym for us." On our way out, Yassna must have caught my friend and I give each other "the look" because she then sarcastically shouted at us from the other side of the hallway, "Goodbye ladies! Toodles!" It is shocking to me that somebody with such poor communication skills can hold the Sales Manager position at such an "upscale" gym. I've lived in this neighborhood for years and have never experienced such poor customer service. I am hoping that the management team is concerned enough to help rectify these bad business practices. I am deeply disappointed that this was one of the first faces I ran into at Life Time and was talked OUT of the membership I was essentially handing over. read more

I had signed my kids up for summer camp, and became a member only to make the camp cheaper. My kids attended 1 day of camp and had a horrible experience (long story). The gym did not refund me and still charged me for an additional month of membership, that I did not want or need. I was frustrated that I had to go in to cancel and then not get a refund. Then a month later I see a charge for $43.65?! I called to dispute it and they again refuse to refund me. They say its my dues for my membership that I cancelled a month ago. Basically, I have been charge well over $300 for 1 (bad) day of summer camp for my kids. Does this seem fair? I feel ignored, because it took multiple calls to get any one to talk to me. I feel taken advantage of because I am a single working mom who needed child care for my kids and was let down by the camp and by the gym. Where is your integrity??? read more

This place is by far the best gym i have every worked out at. The staff are extremely helpful and professional. The equipment is new and state of the art. This place is for those who enjoy the finer things in life. It is extremely spacious and the training staff r extremely knowledgeable. Dont know why i ever worked out anywhere else! read more

I had a hard time deciding between Life Time and Village. Village is the nicer gym in terms of being cleaner and more upscale. However Village's main issue is a pathetic free weight section. Anyway, Life Time is offering no costs whatsoever to join and then $103 / month. This certainly beats Village who is charging $550 to join and then $150 / month. So far Life Time has been a good option. They supposedly spent $1 million renovating the place in the past month. I really cannot tell what they renovated, but there are a few new machines here and there. I also know they are resurfacing the basketball court. They raised the monthly dues by $10 to cover the renovation. My biggest issue is that this place can feel too crowded at times. I basically shift my routines around and everything is ultimately available. Otherwise I wish they would do more to clean the bathrooms. I also wish they would offer water coolers with ice water similar to Village. read more

Wow wow wow Lifetime is quite the trip! They decide to do a full blown remodel of the upstairs and my oh my what a terrible idea! The gym part of Lifetime is closed for a week or so for the remodel! What kind of gym that charges up over a $100 a month closes down the entire gym part? Foolish move that has turned a lot of people to the Desert Ridge Mountain Side! Lots of loud noise and equipment going around the whole Lifetime! Plus this isnt the first time that Lifetime has remodeled a section! They also are remodeling the locker rooms at the same time and put all the gym equipment on the basketball court! Very very displeased with the way Lifetime has been handling this situation! If you ask me do not pay the money for Lifetime of Scottsdale because you will be very displeased with all constant remodeling that goes on year round!! read more

Not worth the money. I was a member for a few years. nothing special. Lots of attitude and douches. Better spend my money somewhere else. I had been a member since 07, due to pregnancy complications I cancelled it for a while and restarted after the twins were born. Around April 09, I spoke with Andy, one of the Managers about my membership. He also told me about the daycare. I had a nanny at home so I didn't need to use their daycare. He said he would just put the names of the babies in the computer just in case one day I would decide to use it, so it won't take time. He told me I wouldn't be charge for it. I said fine. I didn't notice until a year and a half later that they had been charging me for this all along. I call Andy to let him know about it. He used to be very receptive and always answer to my messages. Unfortunately, he had been promoted to Regional Manager or something, so he is always traveling. He didn't call back, so after a week I talk to another guy, I think his name was Derek. I explained the situation and he said he would take care of it. I thought it was corrected. Well to my surprise I was charged the following month again. I talked to Derek and he informed me that there is a 30 day notice for cancellations and that I could use the daycare until the end of that month. I was outraged, he didn't listen. I told him, I was not supposed to be charged on the first place and that I have never and will never use the daycare. I had a full time nanny for my twins, so I didn't need that service. Again, he left me a voice mail saying I could use the daycare until the end of the month. Well, I don't need to go to that gym. I cancelled my membership the following month. read more

This is one of the better gyms in valley where they have basket ball courts, 4 swimming pool, spa, jacuzzi, cardio machines and weights. I also take their yoga classes from time to time. If you are busy person who has just enough time for focused workout, you can easily find so many good personal trainers around here. The facility are top notch. The only two down side is that price is on higher side and some of the people who come here, but hey it's Scottsdale. read more

Here I'm not getting what I'm paying for. In this club im paying almost the double price of any other Lifetime fitness in the valley but what I'm getting is worse Internet connection (they told us that they brought better internet but actually it's worse than that older ones). Last year they changed the cardio machines with one have new technologies but they didn't connect them with the internet so they are all useless plus most the members here have Bluetooth headphones and the blutooth is deactivated in all these machines. Some machines missing the bottle holders. I think that the manager of this club is so lazy to check the club needs. read more

Great gym. Pricey but after years of spartan gyms, I feel this one is worth the extra money. The facilities are well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful, and they offer all kinds of additional recreation beyond just cardio equipment and weights. I've been a member at Lifetime in Scottsdale for 8 months now and I love it. Great pick up games (best are Saturday and Sunday morning), plenty of weights and machines so you never are waiting around, lots of TVs with an array of programming, good food and a great spa even for guys. There are a few kids running around but not enough to bother a normal person. I don't do classes so can't advise there but the outdoor pool, lap pool and hot tubs make me want to stay rather than bail. The spa is a huge help too - easy to get your hair cut on the same trip and the girls do a great job. It's not cheap but the whole package makes it worth the money. read more

This place is crazy!! There is always someone different in the cafe, childcare, & salon!!! WTH! My kids hated the chilcare they said the workers just sat @ the computers texting or doing something on their phones. The Cafe the food is Never the same!!! Been going to LifeTime in Scottsdale for almost two years now. It's a gym like no other and I've been a gym-goer for more than 15 years. It's a lot more than a gym because of all the options available. There's more than one basketball court, indoor racquetball courts, Indoor and outdoor pools, rock wall, family locker room, indoor & outdoor waterslides, salon, cafe, an abundance and variety of cardio machines, TRX's, weight machines, free weights, and multiple rooms for classes. I especially love the indoor and outdoor pool areas. They're great to use for both as a way to work out and also just to relax and hang around. Both indoor and outdoors pools have water fountains that are turned on at certain times of the day. Who doesn't love the sound of a water fountain. It's amazing how much is available at this facility. It's also open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. The only exceptions are Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. One of my favorite parts of Lifetime Fitness is the LifeCafe. It's really convenient to have this available to members and with so many food selections. read more

It's large and you have room but if your looking for the younger crowd for motivation this is not the place. Most are above the age of 70 and old just barely into working out for anything but because their Dr's told them to. The other half are married housewives to trying to maintain themselves. Boring and old gym perhaps worth 1/2 the excessive monthly price. The pool is good. The recent renovation was nothing more than new floors in the equipment room and they inconvenienced us without even a discount on the 2 months it took them to do little to nothing in renovations. This is a great facility, with exceedingly poor management. Management makes little if any effort to protect members, from those unfortunate few that possess a danger to the safety of others. I would advise anyone joining this facility to be prepared to be left on their own in the event that any danger arises. Frontline staff is deceptive, and senior managers are simply incompetent. SAVE YOURSELF! This place lures you in by it's WOW factor, that YOU will be paying for, but when it comes right down to it, it's a fitness facility and you go there to workout. First of all, (before I get to the horrible customer service), it is extremely overpriced. The EXTRA $150 per month you pay for this awesome building and to say, "Hey, I go to Lifetime Fitness", is a joke. That EXTRA $1800 per year I save is going towards our annual cruise vacation. I can get as good of a workout at LA Fitness for $25.00 per month and there's a lot of them. Or 24-Hour Fitness, or one of the corner gyms popping up all over for $10 per month. You will get a better workout and that's what I go to the gym for. Next, WAY OVER-CROWDED. This place has too many people at all hours of the day. If you want a place to say you go for EGO, then maybe Lifetime is for you. Good luck though finding a good circuit to finish your workout without having to wait, and wait, and wait and hope someone else isn't waiting to jump in on your machine. Remember, you can get a better workout at a much less expensive place because you're not always waiting. Classes? All large fitness centers offer yoga, pilates, and cardio type classes, racquetball, pools, all free of charge too. For 1/5th the cost. You're not getting anything extra for your money here. CUSTOMER SERVICE! Ha, saved the best for last, or should I say the worst for last. I tore my meniscus a year ago and knew I wouldn't be using the facility for a few months while it got repaired and went through therapy. So, when I went in to cancel, I waited in a fairly long line of frustrated individuals stating their frustrations. When it was finally my turn, the lady (don't remember her name) was very rude and tried to belittle me for canceling. She told me their SCAM, I would get billed for one extra month after canceling my membership and she then cancelled it. Well, SHE DIDN"T. She put me on a "hold" status which charged me $15/month and they sent me a worthless magazine to make it legal. When you cancel here, they don't give you any paperwork that says you cancelled, they send you an email. If you don't read that email, assuming your membership is cancelled, you automatically opt-in to their $15/month magazine. So, not wanting to go back in and wait in that long "Angry People" line again, I called. There was nothing they would do over the phone, you need to go back in and sign for cancellation. I called corporate. After a long frustrating call with them, they supposedly cancelled it. NOPE! $15 charges started back up on my credit card again. So I went back in and waited in that long "Angry Peoples" Member Services line to get a rude Kristen. She was so unpersonable that she didn't even acknowledge me, but told her trainee that she didn't have time to help me and to go find someone else who could. 5 minutes later Courtney arrived. Not too friendly either, did cancel my membership. But, according to her, they get to bill me one extra month for the magazine too. Yep, that SCAM thing again. I went home and checked the email to verify everything this time. So, if you have money to blow and you need that EGO boost to say, "I go to Lifetime" and you like to wait in line to use machines and you don't mind horrible customer service and you like paying for other people's gigantic real setae and making them wealthy, then this is the place for you. THINK ABOUT IT! I prefer to go to a gym where I can go in, get my workout in and get on with my day. My vacations are much nicer too. Hope this helps. read more

I'm a fan of the gym. It is beautiful, wonderful classes and great atmosphere. I am not a fan of their "corporate" policies. I'm sure everyone can relate with the fact that money is tight right now. I'm feeling the burden of the economy, being between jobs and currently working two part time jobs to make ends meat. I've kept my membership over the last couple months but with my hectic schedule I've decided it isn't feasible for me to maintain the membership any longer. I called to cancel/put on hold my membership and I was informed that I have to go into the gym to make any kind of changes to my membership. The thing that really bothers me is that I was able to sign up and give them my money over the phone. That was convenient! This is truly an inconvenience and a business practice I suggest their corporate decision makers take into consideration of changing!! I am utterly disgusted by the inconvenience this poses to me. I work two jobs, work seven days a week and the only time I can make it to the gym is on my lunch break. I don't feel like their care at all about helping their clients. read more

Run away. I was looking for spinning classes and this place looks so nice that I decided to give it a try. Set up and appointment with a sales rep, Brad and I told him that I had to try the spinning class before enrolling and that I'd give him a call if i decided to join. This guy said that I could not do it over the phone because there were some paperwork to fill out so i did. My mistake was giving this assh my credit card number and my email. After that day I kept receiving junk emails from this place, 5 to 6 per day. I had to email the general manager 4 times before I could stop the junk emails..and of course I let them know I was not going to join the club because the spinning class so the most boring class I ever have attented... if it can be called spinning... anyway the emails stpped for a while and suddenly today I have a charge in my account for $500 and of course im sure fkng Brad got his commision... also they promised 79 per month... probably they have charged me for 2 yrs...Dont go they are thieves and the classes are not worth the money they ask for. read more

I have been a member of lifetime of Scottsdale for over seven years. I joined initially for the great 5:30 AM classes. They used to have multiple classes a day at that time, however over the last one year they have significantly reduced the 5:30 AM classes. Not only do they have hardly any classes offered, but now they have mostly the same instructor teaching almost all the classes during the week. They don't seem to care about member feedback at all. The 5:30 AM crew has been asking and asking and asking for more spin classes and to stop cutting our classes. No one there cares. They hired a new manager who only cares about her later in the day classes and pleasing two specific instructors. It's a real shame. They took a Great organization and let it fall through the cracks. Management doesn't care. Apparently Corporate does not care. They would rather see members who pay almost $90 per month per person leave then to try to make members happy. read more

Love the gym but if you're looking for a great childcare facility for your little ones while you workout...this is not the place. Day after day the entire back section of the childcare facility (that is supposed to be included in your membership) is closed leaving your kids to sit in the toddler area and watch tv. After talking to employess numerous times regarging this matter the only reasonable expanation one has said is that they don't have enough staff for the back area to be open...seems with the very high price of memberships this wouldn't be the case. We pay $220 for a family of 4 which is outragous when your kids are the childcare area watching tv. When they sell you on this membership they never mention that your children can't play outside on their playground because it's too warm (in October) and that the back tubes and play area will only be open when they happen to have enough staff which is apperantly...never. The childcare manager is the least professional person I can recall in a long time. If you're looking for a "family" facility...this is the wrong place to look. read more

Am I having trouble reading? I thought I signed up for lifetime fitness, not lifetime daycare???? First of all the summers suck at lifetime. The lockeroom is full of unruly kids screaming running around playing with blowdryers hiding in lockers its a mess. The pool is even worse there is like 5 kids to each adult in the pool they splash, scream and not to mention that you have to get out so they can clean when they poop and puke in the pool. I try and relax with my fiance at the pool and instead i'm stuck on sesame street gone wild. Also if you like basketball, forget playing, its taken up by theses "lifetime camp kids". Look I pay 5 times what other gyms charge a month, you want kids, then build them their own damn basketball court and pool. Did they forget THIS IS A GYM. Also I'm tired of being in the workout area chasing weights because they are all over and scattered............with people paying almost $100 a month they should have enough money to hire someone to put the weights back and keep it neat. Every other gym has a staff that does that. I almost broke my neck the other day triping over a dumbell in the middle of the room. Once again back to the kids, I'm sick of waiting for a machine because some kid thinks it looks fun and and is horsing around on it like its a damn jungle gym. Oh and their new policy is just great, if you want to bring a guest they now have to pay........what other gym does this. Someone else wrote a review complaining about how they send you the magazine free for six months, then they dont tell you they are charging you monthly after. I had the same problem. I told them don't charge me I don't want it and never did, they said they took care of it, well over a year later and still not fixed and they didn't even credit me.....hell I got a new magazine just yesterday. Once this month is over they won't get another dime out of me or my fiance. If its the upscale you like, check out mountainside, it's cheaper and they keep the kids out of the adults hair. The kids have their own area, or do yourself a favor and go to costco and buy the two year deal for 24hour fitness. It's $300 for 2 years, no monthly payments, no down payments. Thats under $15 a month for 2 years versus almost $100 a month at lifetime. read more

signed up for lifetime about 9 months ago. they pitched me on getting the upgraded membership to use the rockwall extra stuff etc etc. finally I was like ok fine. So after payng the family package of like $120 per month I just found out that I can't use the Scottsdale facility becaue it is "Onyx" level.. I was like huh.. I thought I could use any lifetime in the U.S. (like every other Gym on the planet operates) they said I need to caugh up another $50 per month. I asked so what makes the "Scottsdale one so special. (I figured it's because simply because of the word "Scottsdale" but I wanted to see what they had to say and what BS they were going to tell me. I spoke to someone at the Scottsdale location a girl and she said well we have more amenities than the Tempe location so I said ok.. like what !! she said well... we have shaving cream in the locker rooms.. I said so I you want me to pay f$50 per month more for shaving cream I will never use.. then I said ok what else. she thn tried to say that Tempe has Tennis and raquetball and she said Scottsdale has "SQUASH" that is the equivelent of saying on this field you can play Futbol and on ours you can play soccer... IT'S THE SAME THING ON THE SAME COURT !!!! she coninually tried to tell me there are other things but could not give me any.. so I said so basically I would be paying for the word "Scotsdale" I said they is so frigging lame.. She told me well we had to pay more since it was Scottsdale (although it look slike Phoenix to me based on where it is..) I can get a $5 dollar sub at subway in Tempe but don't have to pay $9 to gt the same thing in Scottsdale. rediculous. the only reason I would use the Phoenix location aka the "dale" location is because I work in north Phoenix but live in Chandler so I could avoid some traffic before I head home from work. I am thinking about cancelling my membership. Yes I can afford it but refuse to pay extra because it's the whole principle... I think if enough people start doing things like boycotting places then we can actually drive prices down and a hell of a lot more. It's one thing if the place was twice the size and had more equipment but it's the same exact thing. Maybe I will just do another round of P90 or Insanity and tell them to go F off... You would think that paying $120 per month for a friging gym you would be able to use every location. they are no better then the airlines... think about it if a ton of people cancelled their membership becaue their price was too high... Guess what they would lower their prices because they would have no choice or lose a crap load of revenue. Yes it's a choice I get it but was NEVER told I was limited to certain locations....
