While it's becoming increasingly easier to find vegan food, finding quality vegan can be a challenge. Hard to believe, but true. This is such a place. A place you need to at least experience and judge for yourself. Great thing is they have an All American menu with plenty of plant-based options. Something for everyone. The chicken and waffles are something I'll never understand. People love 'em, it's a lasting fad, I'll try them. These are pretty good. Not good enough to make a convert of me, but recommended. Once more into the chicken and waffles adventure. This time, my buddy obviously was looking to change things up a bit and suggested vegan chicken and waffles. Really?! I didn't even know they existed. But yea, they are out there and they are...delicious. I have to admit, I was a bit hesitant (okay, really hesitant) when we walked into the small but friendly Lifestyle Cafe. Ordering was a breeze; walk up to the iPad thing and out your own order in, customizing as you please. Unfortunately they were out of the mushroom version so we got the Seitan and Soy versions. He ordered the Seitan and i ordered the soy but we split it up so we could each try. First, the waffles. A bit darker than expected but excellent. You could really taste the cinnamon and coconut sugar brûlée, which was a nice differentiator. Solid waffle. The Seitan was great, deep flavor and nice crunchiness. The soy was decent but it was basically soy with some batter, not nearly as much flavor. I am not vegan but I'd definitely come back to explore more of the menu. I can't believe I wasn't here sooner. Lifestyle cafe offers vegan sandwiches, melts, and much more. Takes on familiar classics. I had the beyond melt, and my partner had the BLT. Also shared chili. The inside is warm and with lofi vibes. You order by QR code or the iPad. The interior had nice chalk art, plants, and hipster light fixtures. Also those ceilings that make you feel that the place used to be a bank or old post office. I just loved my beyond melt. It came with pita chips. The French fries were great. My daughter and I found our way to Lifestyle because I was craving good vegan food. This charming little cafe did not disappoint! I had the best and fanciest avocado toast of life. It featured marinated, toasted coconut bits on top that were pure magic! The chef admitted they are a labor of love. I would put these on EVERYTHING. My kiddo, who is notoriously picky, had the mango smoothie. I didn't tell her all the healthy goodness packed into it - she took one sip and said it tasted like mango cake batter ice cream. They have things like salads and wraps. Has a small inside where you order at the counter. It has lots of pastries on display. The menu is on the kiosk. Order yourself and you pay for it here. The food looked good and it was hard to choose something. I got the BLT wrap that's made with fake bacon. It's about $12 for a pretty big size. This comes with avocado aioli, basil pesto, spinach, tomatoes, and vegan cream cheese, and comes with seasoned tortillas. I also had to get a pastry. Oh. My, Word! This place makes insanely good vegan food. My wife and I stopped in on a whim and left 100% satisfied. The set up is a little different. We were instructed to either order online or at their kiosk. That kind of threw me for a loop and would've been an issue except when that food came out, I didn't even care. It was THAT good. I had the fried mushrooms and the Breakfast Melt. My wife tried a salad that came along with fresh chips and spicy dressing. She also got a bottle of kombucha. My only complaint is the weird issue of ordering. I'd rather rattle something off to someone rather than mess with a kiosk or ordering off my phone. I'm less inclined to leave a decent tip if I'm having to do all this myself. But, the food was again THAT good that I'm not even removing a star for the restaurant . Not only am I always down for delicious vegan food, but I'm even more down when it's from a restaurant run by two women. That's right people, female owned businesses run this world and I'm 100% here for it!! A friend and I stopped in for lunch during the week and the place was packed. Every single table was taken and the good vibes were flowing. After taking a peek around and reading other reviews from Yelpers, I was able to identify that you order off a kiosk to the right of the counter. Now, this is a little tricky and has pros and cons. First there's only one and there isn't a single other menu available. Therefore, while ordering you also have to spend time looking through their menu deciding what you want to eat. This causes a delay in ordering and a line to form during busy hours. That being said, it's cash only which reduces theft and it's hands off so their small but mighty team can stay busy in the kitchen. We were eventually able to find two seats at the bar and our food was ready within seconds of sitting down. Fast indeedy! I went with the Beyond brat sliders, which is a bite sized slider (you get two) that include Beyond meat sausage, caramelized onions, pesto, smoked gouda, and tomato. This entree also comes with a side of sweet potato puree. For $14 I would say this was a little expensive for the amount of food you get. I was still hungry after finishing every bite on my plate. However, it was really yummy. The pesto was amazing! In the end, I really loved what they did with the space and I want to see them succeed. While they are very new and I would say a few tweaks are in order, they definitely have something here. I think the biggest thing for me is having a menu that's easily accessible. I usually don't try a new place without looking over the menu first, whether it's online, on Yelp, etc. Thankfully I was with a friend who pushed me out of my comfort zone and I made it in... This is a great little vegan cafe in Olde Towne East. They are now open at 9 on Saturdays - Gwen and arrived for breakfast and were the first to arrive. You do the ordering and payment on the tablet. I got the breakfast sliders with a banana nut muffin and coffee. The 2 sliders were amazing - great buns and coconut bacon bits - with a side of cubed potatoes. The baked goods are made elsewhere (I heard) and all looked great. They had donuts, muffins, and pastries including poptarts (not Kellogg's). For coffee add-ins they have agave, and 3 non-dairy milks - oat, almond, and soy. The ladies are very nice and helpful. I will def. return. read more

Lifestyle was phenomenal! So I'm pretty new to plant based lifestyle. It's so hard to find GOOD plant based meals without cooking them yourself. But this place did it for me. AH-MAZING! We recently moved in nearby and our neighbors, who are not even close to being vegan (self-proclaimed - and neither are we btw) shared that Lifestyle was really good. So we thought we'd walk over and give it a try. We came in around lunchtime. It is not a very large space at all, but they have utilized it to its max. It is nicely decorated and feels very intimate and relaxing. We weren't greeted with hello's and asked if we had been before following a quick sentence or two about how the process worked but fairly the three who were cooking were very busy and they may have a lot of regulars who know the routine, but we didn't know if we were supposed to just sit down or what. So we asked a lady and she was very friendly and told us to order at a kiosk. They have a lot of options on there but it takes a moment to get used to where everything is located. Others had come in behind us, who probably knew what they wanted, so it made us feel a bit rushed, but honestly - it's that kind of place, they are limited on space so you need to order and move on so others can order too. We should have researched more so we could have known what we wanted when we came in. But I asked the staff what their favorites were and we ordered a few of those items. I was pleased to find that they have tap water but also paper bottled waters as well, I don't trust tap water anywhere anymore. My husband got a smoothy which I tasted and it was SO GOOD. Very berry and nutty while creamy. We also ordered the Taco Toast and man of man... I could have just gotten that, it was so so good! I also tried their avocado bowl which was loaded with flavor and fresh veggies and tons of avocado. Egg Cheese Melt was very good, can't go wrong there. One of the staff was kind enough to let us try some of their blueberry waffles, my husband loved them and tore them up entirely haha. All-in-all, it was a very nice experience and we were happy to enjoy the delicious flavors that honestly felt like they just so happened to also be vegan and not the other way around. I ordered pick from the website that didnt cause any issues. I was welcomed and thanked. If an item was out of stock it was listed on the website. My pick up was a kids grilled chasse and a sloppy kale wrap. The grilled cheese is melted gouda with caramelized onions. You can never go wrong with melted cheese, the gouda went well with the sweet caramelized onions. Soft bread, crispy edges. I had high hopes my mind would be changed about kale. It still the same its that vegetable that still isn't my favorite. The sloppy kale wrap is filled with sautéed kale and vegan taco meat wrapped in a gluten free grilled wrap. The vegan taco meat was flavorful and not to spicy. The kale was well kale. To me sautéed mush with woody stems. Can Kale be made softer and less woody? If so Im sure Id like it. I ended up eating the meat and wrap. While I didnt like the kale I liked the sauce that the vegetable was sautéed in. Id like to see more side choices with sandwiches especially with the children's menu. Perhaps a piece of fruit ,side veg, and you can never go wrong with fries. I want to start by saying that I went to this place when it was the Angry Baker, a different Vegan restaurant, and I had a pretty good experience. So when I came back years later with a different person I was excited about it, but I was only looking for a smoothie because my lunch break started later than usual and I had early dinner plans not too long after I was there. I got the turmeric mango smoothie and I'm going to be honest I really didn't like it that much but I stomached it because the lady was so awesome. It was too thick and too creamy and too sweet. It may just be my tastebuds because my dining partner got the same thing and liked it. To me it was more like a cup of yogurt because of the texture. I also had the BLT wrap (vegan bacon), which was just ok. I feel that it was a little under-seasoned. It needed like a super amazing house sauce that would make anything taste good-- otherwise I loved the idea, but I didn't love the execution. Got to Lifestyle at 8:45 on Saturday morning. According to their website they're open at 7AM, but after several knocks on the door, a gal finally opened and told me the hours have changed since opening do to lite demand. Now, they're open on Saturdays @ 9AM, take note. Ordering is from the kiosk computer. No bills are used, everything is paid with credit card; keeps things efficient and safer (no money lying around to encourage theft). However, after glancing over the screen, I didn't see several things they say is being offered erred on their IG postings... Perhaps I missed seeing a sseperate buttOn, who knows. Also, for some reason, the program wouldnt let me put more tHan one thing down to buy. I wanted to try their Krabby Cakes AND Sweet Potato Soufflé, but it wouldn't ring two things up - very disheartening. The ladies running the open-concept kitchen were so sweet to give me a serving of the sweet side dish anyway! I will say the jackfruit cakes were on the small side for the price, and had too much seasoning for my tastebuds (lots of dill, salt, other spices I couldn't name). The owner was glad to put the patties on fresh spinach, as I didn't want the bread. The sweet potato dish was great. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and the root veggie flavors were a hit. I absolutely love this physical space, and I'm excited that a female-run restaurant has set up shop in the neighborhood. I got a chance to sample the Beyond Brat Slider the other day before making it into the restaurant and it was too good! Can't wait to go back! I had been looking forward to trying the Lifestyle Cafe since they opened earlier this year but wasn't able to make it there until recently due to COVID. The food was amazing but I definitely feel there is room for improvement regarding service. I ordered a patty melt and a turmeric latte and took a seat on the outdoor back patio for social distancing. One of the women working advised she would bring out the food when it was done. I sat and waited for 30 minutes before going inside to check on my order. When I went in two women were making a video for social media behind the counter so I just stood there awkwardly until they were finished. I asked if my food was going to be ready soon and they said they were working on it and would bring it out soon. I went back out to the patio and waited another 10 minutes and the sandwich only was brought out. I had to remind the woman about the latte which then came out a few minutes later without the coconut whipped cream. As I was leaving there were two other customers who arrived right after I had and they hadn't received their orders either and were asking about how much longer it would be. The food was excellent, I'm glad to have a vegan spot on my side of town but I was a little put off by the service. I will definitely visit again but will call ahead and take to go. read more

This was our first visit since it's changed hands to lifestyle cafe . The cafe is self order set up which makes it easy and convenient and safe . We ordered tacos , loaded fries , and a patty melt . The owner was taking a pic of a new addition to add to the menu I believe and it looked delicious. Then she offered to share it with us it was delicious. The fries with mushrooms added simply delicious. The atmosphere is nice and plant filled and the dessert they offer looked so good . I got the oatmeal chocolate chip cookie and oh my it's a must try for sure . We will definitely be going back the friendly staff and the clean surroundings were great but the food is also really good ! I will keep it short, if you're going when it's busiest (probably lunch hours, especially weekends) expect your order to take almost twice as long as they say, maybe more. Look, don't sleep on this place. Black-owned restaurant with amazing chick'n and waffles, delicious pastries (get the sampler, please!) And lots of other good-looking food. The Sloppy Mo looks delicious, as does their chili. When we went there was a lot of business, the staff was friendly and doing every job to make sure the tables were clean and food came out quickly. Visited the Lifestyle Cafe for Sunday brunch with my mother. Upon arriving, we noticed the cafe is small, when entering you seat if yourself if there is a seat available. Do not think you can come in with a large group of people, not going to work. Orders are completed on a kiosk, another customer told us this when entering the café. I had the chicken and waffles and my mother ordered the egg sandwich with potatoes. The food is lukewarm at best, I believe its already prepared and heated upon order. The chicken and waffles were a nice size portion. My mother said the egg was dry and the portion size of the potatoes were very small (see picture). We were seated at the table to in front of the food station, I would definitely go back to try other menu items. One drawback is there are several servers and I had to say more than once I was still working on my food, not to take it. I can appreciate the efficiency but ask before starting to remove my plate/drink. The café is completely cashless; however, this is a jar located at the TO GO area for tips. read more
