OK so we are locked out of our apartment at 11:30pm on a Sunday!! We have no phones or money we don't even have shoes on!! We called around several lock smiths and based on price, time and Yelp reviews we decided to go with Lifetime Locksmiths. Phone quote: ------------------------- $35 Call out $30 and up lock picking (gave him the name of the lock over the phone.. answer oh thats the most common type should be easy) Free estimates before any picking begins Estimated time 20/25 minutes It that the total? YES! Payment methods: cash,credit $20 Yelp deal is good? We can use it? YES! Actual Experience: ------------------------- We wait 40mins before receiving a call from a local technician (great dispatching another company.. in my experience always causes problems) He says he has just received the call and will be with us in 20/25 minutes! OK its late fair enough we will wait it out The guy arrived promptly after his call, all good. He estimated $50 to pick, or $80 if he had to drill and went about his "legal breaking and entering". After a little while of trying with picks he started with some inflatable bags and after a little persuasion with the oh so technical tool of a screw driver jammed between the door and the door frame and some brute force he was in!! YAYAYAY!! Sounds OK so far right! At this point we find out it's cash only.. so on my bike I go to the nearest ATM. When I return he has drawn up the bill. $219!! WTF!! let me look at that! charges are appearing left right and center. So the $35 call out is now $39 $30 Labor charge.. where did this come from $70 for tools.. this matches neither of his estimates $60 Night fee.. ok its the middle of the night, but no one mentioned any night fee! +TAX =$219!! At least the $20 Yelp deal will lighten the mood! NO he refused to honor it!! So close on an hour of phone calls later to the main dispatcher, his manager etc etc we meet closer to the middle at $135 and go our separate ways. The only positive was the actual technician who attended was pleasant and calm through the whole experience and he managed to opened our door without drilling the lock. If that is what you charge FINE! just be up front on the phone before hand! No nasty surprises. Everyone else we called had a fixed fee between $100 and $150.. lesson learned always go with fixed fee!!! All in all a Great Sunday evening! read more

A great night ended with complete bad luck. I didn't lock myself out, but instead my doorknob was stuck. Total bummer. Called tonight at about midnight, and they said they'd be there in twenty minutes. They called ten minutes later to let me know it'd be twenty minutes. Ten minutes after that, they call and say five minutes. It all sounded pretty good. Except that no one came. I called after half an hour of waiting for those five minutes, and no one picked up. Called again and again, no answer. I made the decision at 1:30 to call another company, High Security Locksmith, and they said they'd arrive in fifteen. Five minutes later Lifetime calls and says someone is waiting. I just told them they took way too long after the promised time and that another company was coming. Lucky for me this company came within ten minutes of my call. Never dealing with this company again. read more

This is HELL!!! Our shop front door lock got damaged and needed to be fixed. I decided to call the first locksmith on Yelp (4.5 stars). The technician showed up and gave us a ridiculous estimate of $600. That should be more than enough to buy a new fucking door. We said no, and he said we owned him $30 for the mobile fee which was never mentioned in the phone convo. Letting me know about this charge is one of a few things he should have done before showing up. He also threatened us with something I didn't bother to keep listening to. If you are new to this service, you should do some research about price range and ask them a ton of questions on the phone before having them come to your place. And I just made another call to another locksmith, $180 for everything (replacing and keys) and they explained the details of the charge. good luck with your business lifetime locksmith because with this rate and style, you will be closing soon enough! read more

Called Roy at 9:30 AM, our office needed to get our locks changed. He said he'll be here in a hour. Cool. An hour turn-around that works for me right? Wrong! I call an hour and half later and he says 30 more minutes... Uh okay. I call again at 12, he then says I am on 280 North near 101. I am on my way to you.. FOR REALS?! I am in the Outer Sunset, its now 12 and you say you are on your way to me? I could've had the locks changed already had I not been so patient waiting for you. I am pretty angry, I had another appointment at 12:30, and there was no way the job would've been done by the time he arrived. Save the drama - call someone else. read more

Most expensive locksmith (over $350) or one that takes advantage of people when desperate. Call another locksmith. Itemized $350+ receipt includes: $50 to show up, $135 for TRYing to pick the door handle (just like you would with a bobby pin), $177 to run a standard drill through the handle and leave me with a broken door 2 issues with why I was charged $350+ for what they did: 1) if he failed at picking the lock, why do I still have to pay for it? Said differently, if I knew that I would be charged for his different attempts - even if they just wasted my time - why wouldn't everyone take the sure-bet for just $177? I could've saved an hour of waiting in my hallway and an additional $135! 2) the guy confirmed that anyone with a drill could do the same thing without any risk of screwing it up. "There's no skill involved to drill straight through a handle" Was I actually paying Lifetime Locksmith? - The 415 number is a dispatch and you'd expect someone in SF given you need someone fast when you're locked out. Hayward area code and a 30 minute wait for your handyman/locksmith to arrive in the city. - After giving up the charge battle, I got "Oh, we can't accept cards right now - can you pay in cash? What about if I drive you to an ATM?" 2 guys bickered like family on the phone and asked to write a check to "Art Services" - not Lifetime Locksmith. read more

PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE CALLING: If I could give this business a negative score I would. The two guys who came to open my lock were the most incompetent, unprofessional people I have had to work with in a long time. Lets break this service down: 1.) "Roy" (I gleaned this bit of information from his business card, he never introduced himself) did not come within the guaranteed 25 min. He came late, complaining that he got stuck "behind an Explorer." He then proceeded to tell me "I parked in the redzone for you"--as if he was doing a favor for me. 2.) Roy did not come alone; he came with an unidentified person he claimed was his "apprentice." He claimed he needed this man because of a hand injury. This "apprentice" proceeded to answer personal calls whilst trying to pick my lock. 3.) When Roy could not open my lock, he complained that the person who had installed it was unprofessional, and that it was "my problem." 4.) Once Roy could not pick my lock, he drilled it without asking; meaning that he broke my lock to open the door. 5.) He charged twice as much as the last guy who picked this lock. Let me mention that the last guy who picked this lock came within 10 minutes, opened my door in 5 minutes, and did not break my lock. 6.)This is the worst part. When I called the number on the card to complain about the service, the voice on the other end cuts me off asking "Well what didn't you like?" I asked if he was the locksmith who opened my door. He replied yes indeed he was. I proceeded to list the above complaints, during which he interrupted me, yelling at me. He claimed I was "just a little bratty girl" and that he wished he charged me $200 when I mentioned the last guy did it for $50. I no longer feel safe in my home with a broken lock, and two unprofessional men knowing where I live. I hope this helped some of you guys out there. I wish I would have known myself before calling these people, especially with something as personal as opening the door to my apartment. read more

After calling around and getting some attitude from other locksmiths for asking questions about prices and such, these guys really stood out for being super courteous and helpful over the phone and available the same day. Plus they reminded me that if I had found them through Yelp they were offering a $20 discount. Plus, the service technician even took the time to call to say he was running 15 minutes late. I broke the key off in my door lock last week. Long story short I had to re-key the lock in my really old but cool front door and subsequently other doors to my house. Lifetime took care of me and gave me a very reasonable price on the work. AKA Plus Locksmith - They get a star for getting there in the same day and installing a new ignition switch. What wasn't mentioned was that 20 minute job which operator quotes at $150 (starting price) was billed at $350. The part was $38, and the rest was, I guess, for the key. Im not sure my 97 Camry is worth that much. I wonder what car they do for $150, since he had the part with him, and told me it's a common problem in the Camry. "I'm going to give you a good deal," said the worker, "It's okay." What a load! Okay for him, I got played. And I chose them because of the Stars. That's a mistake I won't make again. read more

Our pleasant technician just left after spending over an hour unlocking our bathroom door and replacing it. Apparently the latch snapped inside and wouldn't open anymore. Although, he took longer (30 minutes total) to arrive than promised he did call to keep us updated. I would definitely recommend this company, especially since they are open 24 hours. The price was also much more reasonable than I expected after hearing horrific stories of $600 lockouts :P read more

I got a quick response to my lock out, even on the weekend. The locksmith was at my apt in about half an hour. He wasn't able to pick my lock, had to drill and give me a new lock and key, but I was happy to get back in after my property manager had wasted a couple hours before not even being able to help. read more

Stayed away from these guys. My tenant was locked out from her unit. I relied on yelp's review and randomly selected them. Their response time was excellent. But I ended up paying $340 because he said he had to break the lock and I needed a new lock. He said the new lock cost a hundred dollars to buy. I checked the brand and found that it's a $10 lock. It is almost like highway robbery. When I checked back in yelp, they actually have a lot of bad review filtered. Buyers beware when relying on yelp review. I called Lifetime locksmith for a lockout, and I was quoted 30 minutes. 50 minutes later, the guy called saying he was almost to me. But needed to verifly my address. If he was almost to me, why would he need my address again. I gave it to him.. but he didn't show up for another 50 minutes. He had a bad attitude, and the quality of his work was terrible. very half ass. he used a minimum effort, and dinged my door. I never had this probem before with the company.
