Light rail cafe is a vibrant neighborhood bar and restaurant in the jersey city community!! Happy Hour specials are good! Prices are good compared to other local spots. It gets very crowded with the after work crowd. Theres additional seating upstairs and outside when the weather is nice. Try the wings and flatbread pizza ! Very tasty!

I would suggest anyone reviewing this place, understand it's setting and vibe before doing so.. This is a small, casual place, that offers good food and drinks at a reasonable price.. They are not "Fancy", so don't expect that.. We were 8 people in total and showed up without reservation since it was unplanned, and we were all just hungry, after a long and tiring evening, and this was the only place nearby with a good rating.. It was 1st time for all us.. Place was packed with barely any room but they got us seated right away by opening up the upper level.. Service was a little slow, but that was expected with the crowd, and the fact that we were seated separately from the rest of tables.. There was no complaints on the Taste or Quantity of the Food, especially for the price.. There was mix up with the getting separate checks, but again, it was understandable and they were quite apologetic about it..

Ordered the Rasta pasta & Fries Oreos both were such a bust. I also tried delivery for the fish & veggies instead of fries. They didn't separate the side dish so guess what my fried fish was soaking wet so no longer fried. I was so upset. That's restaurant 102 don't pack wet & dry items together! Wth I officially won't be returning & definitely don't recommend delivery.

My sister and I got takeout from light rail on a Thursday evening. The order and pick ip process was fairly smooth. We only had to wait about 5 min. I ordered a chicken Caesar salad with garlic parm fries. I basically licked the bowl clean haha. It was a very solid Caesar salad. The fries were still fairly crispy and warm given the transportation. My sister got a penne pasta with chicken. She was a bit disappointed because the chicken was breaded instead of grilled which is not what was offered in the past. She also ordered extra mozzarella on one of the pasta dishes but they did not provide the extra cheese. However we were both satisfied with our food and would order again...double checking that the order is correct.

My dad has talked about this spot for a while now so i'm glad we finally were able to go! Parking is a bit tight as they have street parking but if you get there early enough you'll find a spot. Light Rail Cafe definetly gets packed! We arrived around 6pm and was immediately seated outside. Since it was a hot day we wanted to sit inside but it was already packed. It is a small cafe with a couple of tables and seats at the bar but they're currently building a rooftop which is cool. The menu had so much to choose from and for affordable prices too! I ordered the salmon alfredo which came with a peice of garlic bread and it was so good! My sister and I ordered the cauliflower bites to share. They were nice and hot fresh out the fryer too. They serve the bites with a sweet chili sauce and ranch. They were good, more batter than cauliflower but still good. My sister and dad ordered th red sangria and boyyyyy was it perfect; the right amount of fruitiness and liquor. I recommend it 100%. Fried Oreos were good too! Waitresses were attentive and friendly. They also played a lot of hip hop and r&b which I loved. I also saw someone bring their own hookah and smoked it at a table outside. The vibes were there for sure can't wait to come back!

Great coffee and even better staff. Relaxed and large but comfortable space to work or meet in.

Buffalo chicken Wings! These were so good I ordered a tray a day later!

Friendly bar staff & environment! Very clean looks as if it just opened! It was crowded but everyone had a seat. Outside seating was available but it is winter in the north east so I opted to sit at a high top. Margaritas were on point!

Came here with a group of friends. The server was super friendly and even put on a little show. For food.i got the lemon pepper tilapia which was good.

    Dranks done.

Alright guys. Never get the pasta, no sauce and it's mixed in after which makes the flavor ass. Get burger drinks and fries that's where the sauce is. Greiii greiii

The ambiance is…read moreperfect--moody, upscale, and consistently chic--making it a great choice for a high-end night out. The Food: The star of the night was the Spicy Rigatoni. The creamy Calabrian pepper tomato sauce delivers a legitimate, vibrant heat that doesn't hold back. Breaking into the Italian burrata is essential; the creamy center beautifully tempers the spice, while the micro basil adds a nice hit of freshness. We also started with the truffle fries, which were executed perfectly--crispy, aromatic, and a total highlight. The Service: While the food was top-tier, the service wasn't great which is why I deducted 2 whole stars. I ordered a ginger ale that never made it to the table, yet it still appeared on our final bill - not cool. It's a small detail, but at this level of dining and price point, you expect those things to be caught. Also, the service overall was pretty slow which was disappointing. Verdict: Even with the minor billing oversight, the culinary execution is elite. If you're a fan of bold, spicy pasta and a great atmosphere, this is still a JC must-visit. Just double-check your tab!

Great views of NYC, especially from the outdoor seats. We sat in the dining room, and the service was likely a bit off because of the large crowds and people visiting to watch the FIFA world cup soccer games. While the service was less than 100%, the breezed short ribs were amazing! If I lived in the area, I think I could order those short ribs everyday. Pricing is very reasonable for the area, even with the "included gratuity" of 18% that they threw on the bill, probably because of all the international travelers coming into watch soccer. I understood this was something they probably had to do specifically during the world cup. We paid about $70 per person all in, we were drinking soft drinks, so the bar can push the total bill much higher very quickly. Overall, I would certainly return to this restaurant for great views, amazing food, and a reasonable value.

Upon entering Tros my partner waited to order something and the person working (the manager who he later learned was named Andres-?) was on the phone at the counter. The manager then proceeds to "shoo" him away by waving his hand. Who does that? Is he a child? Is this what a decent establishment does to potential customers? Perhaps he was busy (there was no one else in the restaurant but a police officer, who we later learned was lieutenant Rodriguez, waiting for his food). So my partner said "I'm going to use the restroom" and the manager rudely responds "don't you read the sign? Restrooms are for customers only." This exchange escalated to a place it simply didn't need to go if only the "manager" exhibited any customer service. He was uncouth and disgusting. And I believe his behavior was dismissive and disrespectful because of my partner's appearance. Will we ever return? Absolutely not. No one needs what appears to be extremely mediocre Greek food by what we can see in the pictures, especially when this is the way a manager behaves. Gross attitude, gross management.

What a warm, friendly, neighborhood mom 'n' pop restaurant--exactly the kind I love to support. While our food took a bit of time to arrive, it was clearly made from scratch with TLC. You could practically taste it in every bite. Throw in the fact that menu is mostly tried-and-true American comfort food, and you've got a winning combination for an easy dinner that won't break the bank. Our housemade Fish Cakes were perfectly fried, stuffed with fish, and felt like something you'd eat from a stand in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. The Four Cheese Mac 'n' Cheese--at just $10--was a large enough portion for two peoples, made with thinner than traditional macaroni noodles and a lovely broiled top that imparted a smokey char. But the star of the show was undoubtedly the namesake burger. It's one of the best burgers I've had in a long, long time. The grass-fed beef was so perfectly cooked--all the hearty meat flavor you could want and full of succulent jus. The other accompaniments were placed perfectly within the rich, toasted brioche bun, making every bite feel like the culinary equivalent of Jon Bon Jovi singing in your mouth (or insert other American musical icon of your choice). Even the fries were stellar, like Richie Sambora crooning harmony next to Jon.

I wish they had a cocktail or two that wasn't a mimosa. Draft beers were very well priced and my Sapporo did hit. The bulgogi nachos were pretty good. The fried chicken was fine - nice crunch but almost zero flavor. They had a tiny side of honey mustard for dipping, but otherwise, pretty bland. The appetizer sampler was basic, to be honest.
