My experience was just ok. I ordered the Caribbean short ribs. I was really excited and it was just alright. Nothing seemed fresh, the beef had a texture of being reheated and I would guess that this was actually a chuck roast rather than short ribs. The slaw tasted very mayo-ish and very not fresh, almost a little sour so I decided not to eat it because I was nervous. The pickled onions were mushy and slimy, I think most of them were past their keep. My friend got the short rib grilled cheese and really enjoyed it. The food came fast and the server was nice. It is my new favorite cocktail in the obx. Food was good and service was fast. As a warning, the dirty bird sand which is HOT. I usually love spicy food but this sandwich is VERY spicy. We have been in Outer Banks for a week now. I have to say we haven't had a bad meal yet, we have been eating seafood everyday just because it's always fresh. These were by far the BEST scallops I've ever eaten, melted in your mouth. Prices were reasonable with the bill only 86.00 for 2 including drinks (plus tip ) Our server was awesome, she came over several times, asked what we needed but also made small talk we felt right at home. Our group of 8 came at 5:30p and we were seated immediately. Staff were friendly. Our server was always checking on us. Our table was long so it was harder for the further people to hear her talking. I've been coming to OBX for 20+ years and had difficulty finding good food for non-seafood eaters. This was by far the best dinner we've ever had on the island. The pickle fries weren't our favorite and there was some accidental calamari contamination, but the kind and attentive waitress, fast service, and delicious entrees made up for it. My sister and I split the mac and cheese with Nashville chicken and the dirty bird sandwich. Both were absolutely phenomenal! I was excited to try this place as I had seen it when I had visited the Outer Banks in April 2026, so I thought when we came down for our annual beach trip in August, it would be a great place to bring our family. We went to Shakas on August 2, 2026. There were 17 of us so they had to find a space to accommodate us. They said our weight would be about 30 minutes so we headed outside to the open bar and hung out there. I don't think our weight ended up being that long because we were seated shortly after. We had an amazing waitress who tended to us all, and unfortunately, I cannot remember her name but she gave us recommendations and met all of our requests. For appetizers, we got the pickle fries, the crab dip the nachos and everything was excellent. I can't remember what everybody ordered, but we all got something different and everybody went on and on about how great their food was. The highlight of our night is when we ordered raw oysters and my little nephews tried them for the first time they've been waiting for a year to try raw oysters and they did it here at Shakas. We also had family visiting from Germany, and some of them tried them as well. We decided not to get dessert because we were also full. As we paid the bill and left my family just kept going on and on about what a great space it was inside and out they love the aesthetic of the place and the food was amazing. Nobody had anything bad to say, and they said this is our new annual restaurant spot! Tried a new place off 158, close to MP 8. This restauarant has tons of parking. They also have 2 levels of dining with plenty of seating for large groups. Our group of 8 easily got a table around 5:00p but it is off season. The chairs on the high tops have backs for those that want to know. Food was hit or miss. Some of group were not impressed with the talked about Hula Chicken. Chicken thigh is used in this entree. The salads and bowls looked delicious. I enjoyed a small appetizer of the Chicken Lettuce Wraps. It was enough for a meal. I also ordered a delicious side dish of their Mexican corn. Service was good. It was 4th of July and the staff were busting their butts and keeping it all together. We sat at the bar and although the bartender was slammed, she was very attentive. The bartender outside was rude and it took way too long to close our tab when our table was ready. Our waitress inside was great, but I think she had too many tables. We barely saw her and rarely had our waters refilled. She did offer to replenish our alcoholic drinks often enough. The ambient temperature is too warm for how long the wait is and the limited water provided. On to the food, the tuna blt was excellent. Large chunk of fresh tuna along with bacon, tomato, lettuce, and ripe avocado. Garlic cilantro fries were not great, very greasy. The krabby patty, burger, and bangin' shrimp were good. Coating on the pickle fries wasn't great, too plain. Seafood boil was all butter and no other flavor. Shrimp in the seafood boil was way overcooked. Such a cute place! They were a new place down on the beach and after reading the reviews I knew I had to try this place for myself. I started out with the Gouda Crab Dip with tortilla chips instead of the Naan since I dont eat Gluten and it was delicious. The tortilla chips were super yummy and I could tell that they are made fresh and so is the Crab Dip. We also wanted to try the Waygu Beef Burgers and it was so yummy. Again no bun but the meat was flavorful. Hopefully next time I go they do have the Gluten Free Bun alternative for people like me. The service was pretty good. Can't complain too much. This was one of my favorite places we visited on a recent Outer Banks trip! The restaurant is cute and I liked the beachy vibes. We started with the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls and they were so good! They were packed with that classic cheesesteak flavor but in a an egg roll.
